I am convinced that the Dan saying “open can” to the toilet story definitely happened in the en suite to their shared bedroom. They mentioned it was upstairs, it was probably first thing in the morning which is how Dan made the mistake and Phil heard it which means he was close by, aka in their bed across the room.
