Modern WoW is so funny. The franchise has been around for decades and is built on so many classic fantasy tropes half of which are problematic af, and they don't just wanna throw out the whole setting but the devs still try to be woke so now you get these really typical fantasy storylines but they now include the kind of subplots where you have to like. Negotiate with the queen of dragons over the rights of her servant race

#cracks me up every time #warcraft #I hope I don't come of as too critical tho bc I don't actually think this is a bad thing #I'm a lover of fantasy bulshit and I love that wow doesn't shy away from being that type of story #while still trying to fix the uncomfortable stuff as best as they can #it's not perfect by any means but the effort is nice #and honestly 'the solution to the violent rebellion that has harmed civillians is to just give in to the rebels demands bc they're right'#does actually go a little beyond the milquetoast liberalism id expect from this effort #and yeah obviously the idea that the ruler had just simply not considered this before and is easily swayed by words is silly #but it's not trying to be ultra-realistic and it is still the type of story where the leaders are meant to be likable #so I'll take it
