a cactus, a friend

the universe offers a cactus to punz. well, a "cactus"

inspired by fruitninjablr discord's conversation, written in collab with @dodgeboltsimp

After months of break, Punz returns to the End once again. They slay the dragon once again, as the timer on their communicator blinks with the time it took to save the realm.

A new personal best, Punz noticed, before falling into the void.

Punz felt its embrace, heard its whispered praise, the voice echoing, never quite the same voice with each line.

A distinct voice asked if Punz would like a cactus, it was Geo, Punz numbly registered in their mind as they plummeted, not quite there, for the first time in months into the Universe's love.

Punz absently nodded, as they took in the Universe, same yet different from the last time they visited. They closed their eyes as they continued, falling, as the Universe flies with them.

Geo whispered that the cactus is near, and prompted Punz to open their eyes. So Punz did.

And in front of them, falling with them, was TapL.

Punz stuttered in disbelief, as TapL explained with a smile that Geo did that often, with all members of hbg, that at times they would be gently picked up, and offered as a "cactus" to any runner. It all started with Eleventy, then Dylan, then Fruit, up til the point where everyone can be identified as a cactus in some way shape or form. No one was sure if it was a joke or not at this point, but it was all in good nature.

Near the end of their flight, after TapL talked about Geo and cacti, TapL asked if Punz would like to join hbg, join his family.

And right before the flight with the Universe was over, they answered yes.

The two of them woke up in the Kingdom of hbg, warmly welcomed back home.
