My Missy drawing is probably my favourite piece I’ve created to date, but I wasn’t happy with the background, so I’ve almost entirely redone it. The perspective is much better now!

I suspect I may create more Missy drawings in the not so distant future. Not only is she my favourite fictional character, I’m hyped for her appearance in the next UNIT audio box set coming out in July!

Platonic love is beautiful, but not often talked about, and often overlooked. It makes me really happy to see people about it. Above here, we have Missy from Doctor Who. She goes on a whole little tangent about her (platonic) relationship with the Doctor. It’s beautiful, and I wanted to share my appreciation of it and friendship in general. 

Also, Sabrina Benaim wrote an awesome poem “On Platonic Love Being a Real Thing”, which I loved, that talks about the comforting intimacy of platonic love. I can’t stress enough how good it feels to hear people talking about friendship, for the sake of friendship, and not as the sub plot in a romance.

I woke up in a really bad mood and wasn’t sure if the behind the scenes features on this set would be enough to change that. And while I’m still not feeling very good it was fun—as a voice acting student—to hear how the actors approached their performances. But it also made me feel frustrated that I haven’t been able to go to any voice acting classes the past few weeks. Oh well. I’ll get back to class next Saturday. Missy from Doctor Who, played by Michelle Gomez, is my favourite fictional character of all time. She is chaos personified and I can’t get enough. I also loved her redemption arc. The Delgado Master was reportedly meant to have one back in the 70s, but plans changed when the actor passed away as the result of an accident. A redemption was long overdue. It was slightly (completely) undone with Sacha Dhawan’s Master, but that makes sense with the Timeless Child plot twist. It made me feel a bit murderous too 👀

I definitely think I’m getting better at backgrounds, which is nice! It was fun drawing Missy’s TARDIS. We never saw it onscreen, but it’s been mentioned in Big Finish audios, and shown in the TARDIS Type-40 manual.
