[🧪💜] WELL, OF COURSE BOTH Ophelia and Doc have something to say about Lambda!!!
“Only one compliment!? That’s sooo hard!!! There’s so much, I don’t know which to pick! Um, okie dokie, let’s see … you’re the most fashionable person I know—OH WAIT! You’re so soo sooo good at beating up baddies!!! I like when you shred ‘em up like sliced cheese!”
Doc nodded in agreement. That was pretty cool.
“My turn, now? Alright: my boy, it’s remarkable how you’re a mayor of a whole city and all— so much responsibility on your plate for such a young age … from what I’ve heard, you’re doing a damn good job at it, too. I hope you know I’m proud of you.”

BEHOLD! THE CONSEQUENCES OF MY ACTIONS!
Various hlvrv characters as ponys (: A full list does indeed exist, BUT! These are the silly guys I've drawn for you today. Under the cut, as I! Have now gone into WAY more detail than I thought I would haha.
Player- A Pegasus, inspired by the European Turtle Dove and Komorner Tumbler Pigeon! (He is not pictured here BUT. I also have a Saxon Fairy Swallow assignment set aside for Power Trip) I'd probably give him more armor in the future for the HEV suit, BUT! Little leg guards is what he's got for now. And also a little band on one leg like you see on pigeons for tracking and scientific purposes. Because SCIENCE and BLACK MESA! And honestly I thought it'd just look cool for him to have the little lambda band on his leg after all's over with and he isn't carrying around an entire HEV suit anymore. The other front leg is where he would put anything else, like friendship bracelets or "hey hold onto this for a minute" or what have you.
Doc- A Pegasus, BUT BETTER! After an accident in the Green Department of the rainbow factory, he now glows... GREEN! Surprising! And also she has various bat pony traits Which she now uses her epic and cool inventions to help with. Like the robot arms! He's inspired by a Rufous hummingbird, mostly. Actual flight is finicky because of the hummingbird and bat pony wing combination, BUT! They can indeed hover and zip a little! As they deserve. (This drawing was done before I picked hummingbird specifcially, but now she's got much tinier wings like a hummingbird, that are feathery at the base but extend out into more bat-like wings!)
Loverboy- As Gordon B he would be an Earth Pony, BUT! There's this wonderful wonderful Generation 3 episode where- [I am sent to the abyss for referencing this single episode for the third time on blog] WHERE THE EARTH PONYS GET HUGE MAGIC GIANT BUTTERFLY WINGS THAT LOOK SO AWESOME AND COOL. Loverboy is that (:
(THE EPISODE IS CALLED TWO FOR THE SKY)
Sleepless- A Griffon! Violet-Backed Starling is the main inspiration, but I DID take a little bit from the White-Breasted Ground Dove as well. The other half that isn't a bird I used a Clouded Leopard because. cloud... fog... the purple stuff... it was a REACH, but it looks cool so I win either way. I didn't draw it in this one, but I imagine his regular sleeping mask is a little more like a cowl you'd see in Falconing. One of the masks that slide on and cover the entire upper face. Also I know Griffons are basically pony sized, but also I write the canon here and Sleepless gets to be taller than ponies by a large margin. Just for fun, a little treat for me.
Valentine- A Unicorn! But as opposed to other unicorns I have slotted in the hlvrv roster, they take a lot of inspiration from that classic unicorn look. You know the one, probably. A lot of MLP redesigns change the unicorns to look like it and its SO cool. But Spork and Valentine are the only ones I really did that with this time around, other then a couple guys who got the little unicorn beard. You also probably know the one. I think I stole their cutie mark from somewhere by mistake, so apologies for that, BUT!! In other news, Valentine and the Love Letters all very VERY specifically have the little heart-shaped hoof thing going on. For the Aesthetic, y'know?
CLOWN NEO FUNNY GUY CLOWN NEO!! Neo himself is an Earth Pony, BUT! In Nightmare Circus? He has all that cool dressage that carousel horses and circus ponies wear SUCH AS! One of those cool decorative head pieces that are meant to make them look like a unicorn. EXCEPT. Because this is a dream and you can do whatever you want, It ACTUALLY works as a functional magic horn and he can pull all KINDS of magic tricks and shenanigans with it!
AAAAAND PING FOR FRIEND WHO RAMBLED WITH ME FOR HOURS ON THE MATTER TO HELP ME ASSIGN THEM ALL! YES, ALL OF THEM! @bbeeohazardd

Emerging!
i've been quiet here for a bit, because for the last few weeks i've been prepping for and then attending the Lambda Literary Writers Retreat for Emerging LGBTQ Voices as a 2024 Fellow in the speculative fiction cohort!
(this is me reading from the first draft of a short story, part of the Fellows reading series that ended each workshop day. i think the recording is going up on Lambda's YouTube eventually!)
i've been sitting here all evening trying to figure out what to say about it. there are so many things i want to get across! like what a huge opportunity this was for me when, as a single queer still living mostly paycheck to paycheck, so many writing workshops are out of reach financially and in time commitment. and what an enormous privilege and relief it was to come into a space where no part of my identity and how it informs my writing would have to be painfully explained!
(i'm a fidgeter, so i started this blanket at the beginning of the week to help me focus, and this is where it stood yesterday! love having tangible evidence of time and thought well-spent)
also there's something truly beautiful about the minds of spec fic writers; gathering with my cohort every day, getting to read their work and hear their insights under the glorious leadership of @charliejaneanders, was one of the most energizing and genuinely brain-altering experiences i've ever had. i tried to take a rest and recovery weekend after the closing ceremony yesterday afternoon, but instead i had to send myself multiple emails from bed at 4 in the morning because my brain wouldn't stop whirring with thoughts about how to incorporate this piece of advice or that incisive question, and how to unstick myself from the brain muck i've felt mired in for months.
(the working version of the manuscript i workshopped, probably a novella, now with sections in the handy dandy outline for feedback from my cohort and from Charlie Jane. i don't outline plot really, but somehow i live by the Google Docs outline feature anyway)
so! the Retreat is over and the lonely part of the work recommences, except now i am buzzing with renewed confidence and buoyed by the support and ongoing community of my cohort. i still have to Do the Work, even when i'm tired or the day has been long, but i feel surer now that my work has value and that i have the capacity to continue it. i'm honestly more grateful than i can say.

Lambda-37 / "Lel"
(cutting and pasting from my BlueSky...) "Lambda-37", or otherwise known affectionately as "Lel" for short by the Doc. Prior to her current "employment"; she was a Spec Ops officer for The Foundation. But after being left for dead by her former allies; she was rescued and given a new lease of life within Operon…
Finally finished the lighting and shading of the flat-colours for this on-stream. :)

Impulsively started learning kotlin so I can impulsively develop an android app. It's similar enough to Java that I could skip most lessons in the course, but I needed some extra practice to wrap my head around anonymous and lambda functions.
This is the practice example I made up.
The Learn Kotlin course on Codecademy is great btw. I wish I had this years ago as my introduction to OOP instead of my profs reading java docs for 3 hours :/

Abigail Child has been at the forefront of experimental writing and media since the 1980s, having completed more than thirty film/video works & installations, and written 6 books. An acknowledged pioneer in montage, Child addresses the interplay between sound and image, to make, in the words of LA Weekly: “brilliant exciting work…a vibrant political filmmaking that’s attentive to form.” Her films rewrite narrative, creating the cult classics PERILS, MAYHEM and COVERT ACTION (1984-87). Other productions borrow documentary to poetically envision public space including B/Side (1996) and SURF AND TURF (2011). Child’s re-constructed home movie THE FUTURE IS BEHIND YOU (2004) served as inspiration for UNBOUND: Scenes from the life of Mary Shelley shot as imaginary home movies. In recent years, Child has expanded her vertical montage to multiple-screen installation with MIRRORWORLDS and THE MILKY WAY. ACTS AND INTERMISSIONS, the second in her trilogy on Women and Ideology, circling around the life of Emma Goldman and a history of protests, premiered at The Museum of Modern Art’s Doc Fortnight in February 2017.
Child is the principal director, cinematographer and editor on her films. Cultural displacements, mostly urban ones, have been at the heart of her concerns. Her work involves intimate collaborations, with poets: Monica de la Torre (To and No Fro), Gary Sullivan (Mirror World), Nada Gordon (Ligatures) and Adeena Karasick (Salomé) as well as with notable downtown composers including John Zorn (The Future Is Behind You), Ikue Mori (B/side, 8 Million), Zeena Parkins (Unbound, Mayhem), Christian Marclay (Mayhem, Surface Noise) and Andrea Parkins (Vis A Vis and Acts and Intermissions). Child is currently working on the last film in the trilogy "The Andriod Project" (wt).
Her films, compulsive visual and aural legerdemain, have been widely awarded and shown internationally. Child has been honored with a Rome Prize Fellowship (09-10), as well as a John Simon Guggenheim, Radcliffe Institute and Fulbright Fellowships. She is winner of the Stan Brakhage Award, and grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, New York State Council on the Arts, New York Foundation for the Arts, Jerome Foundation, LEF Foundation, Mass Arts Council, and Art Matters. Child's film and media works have been exhibited worldwide, in venues including The Museum of Modern Art, New York; the Whitney Biennial Exhibitions (1989+1997); Centre George Pompidou, Paris; Rotterdam International Film Festival; New York Film Festival; CAPC Musée, Bordeaux; Museo Reina Sofia, Madrid; Pacific Film Archives, Berkeley; and festivals in Oberhausen, Locarno, Berlin, Toronto, Brazil, Mexico City and Seoul, among many others. Her work is in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art New York and Centre Pompidou among others. Harvard University Cinematheque has created an “Abigail Child Collection” which will preserve and exhibit her films.
Child is also a writer with more that 5 books and numerous chapbooks. Her critical study, THIS IS CALLED MOVING: A Critical Poetics of Film (2005) is the only critical book written by an active American artist/filmmaker in over two decades. Her book of poetry MOUTH TO MOUTH came out in 2016, courtesy of Eoagh Press and was honored with a Lambda Prize in 2017. Child is Emeritus Professor of Media at Tufts University, the SMFA, and lives and works in New York City.

Understanding Cloud Computing: A Simple Guide
Welcome to the world of cloud computing! If you're enrolled in the Sudo24 data science course, you're probably hearing a lot about this technology—and for a good reason. Cloud computing is one of the most revolutionary technologies of our time, powering everything from social media apps to advanced machine learning algorithms. But what exactly is it? Let’s break it down in simple terms.
What is Cloud Computing?
Think of cloud computing as renting a computer from somewhere far away instead of owning one. But here's the catch: it’s a lot bigger, faster, and more flexible than your personal computer. Cloud computing allows you to store and process data using remote servers accessed over the internet rather than relying on your physical device. These remote servers are commonly referred to as “the cloud.”
Imagine you're working on a big data science project (like the ones you'll encounter in Sudo24). Normally, you’d need a powerful machine with loads of storage and computing power. With cloud computing, instead of buying expensive hardware, you can "rent" computing resources on-demand, only paying for what you use. It’s like booking a fancy computer room only when you need it!
Key Benefits of Cloud Computing
Cloud computing offers several advantages for data science students and professionals alike:
Cost-Effective: No need to invest in pricey hardware. You only pay for what you use.
Scalability: Need more power to run a complex machine learning algorithm? The cloud scales up (or down) to meet your needs with just a few clicks.
Accessibility: Whether you’re at home, in a cafe, or on the go, you can access your files and computing power anywhere, as long as you have an internet connection.
Collaboration: Multiple people can work on the same project in real-time, even from different parts of the world.
Security: Cloud providers invest heavily in keeping your data safe with encryption and backups. Major players like AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure have extensive security measures in place.
How Does Cloud Computing Help in Data Science?
As a budding data scientist in Sudo24, you’ll be dealing with large datasets, powerful computations, and possibly multiple tools for analysis. Here’s where cloud computing becomes your best friend:
Data Storage: Working with terabytes of data? No problem! Cloud storage services like Google Cloud Storage or AWS S3 can handle massive amounts of data, ensuring your datasets are stored safely and are easily retrievable.
Data Processing: Cloud computing makes it possible to run complex models or algorithms in a fraction of the time it would take on a regular computer. Services like Amazon SageMaker or Google Colab provide powerful environments for building and training machine learning models without needing a high-end laptop.
Collaboration & Sharing: Cloud platforms allow you to collaborate with fellow students or team members. You can share files, code, and datasets effortlessly, enabling real-time collaboration. Think of it like a shared Google Doc for data science, but way more powerful!
Popular Cloud Computing Services for Data Science
Here are a few platforms you might explore as part of your Sudo24 journey:
Amazon Web Services (AWS): AWS offers a range of services specifically designed for data science, including AWS Lambda for serverless computing and AWS SageMaker for machine learning.
Google Cloud Platform (GCP): Known for its deep integration with AI tools, GCP provides machine learning services and a highly scalable environment for data analysis.
Microsoft Azure: Azure offers various data science and AI services, such as Azure Machine Learning Studio, which helps build and deploy models quickly.
Final Thoughts
Cloud computing is a game-changer in the data science world, making it easier for students, startups, and large companies alike to experiment, innovate, and scale their projects. As you dive deeper into your Sudo24 course, you’ll see just how crucial the cloud is in enabling data science workflows and how it empowers you to build smarter solutions without the hassle of managing hardware.
The future of tech lies in the cloud, and you’re just getting started. Keep exploring, and remember—learning cloud computing is not as cloudy as it sounds!
Happy learning!

Zoe Concepts ("Guest", Astras Worker, Drone)
Zoe (Astras Worker), "Doctor S" (Normal & Armoured), "Lambda 37" Drone (Doc's "Right Hand Drone") Concepts
More "Drone" Variation Concepts (Butler & Combat)
"Astras Foundation" Character Concept Doodles (Commander, Science Officer, Special Ops)
Thought I would share some concept doodles sort of semi-brought on from some of last years Hypnovember stuff and some villainous pics of the last couple of years. In short; I have been daydreaming a story playing on some of the ideas and characters I've had laying around. Not entirely sure this would ever gain traction, but I'm at least back-burner building this universe, characters and a narrative. I'm not sure if people would want an anthropomorphic sci-fi meets dark romance story with some comedic twists... But still, its fun to build on as I ponder. :)
I guess I'll see where this goes :D
