[I used google translate and bc the zine is a bit faded the translation isnt accurate but here were some that I think translated ok and were interesting to me :3 ]
1 - Why did the band's name change from Embryonic to Thou Shalt Suffer?
Ygg: The earlier names didn't shine in style and text. We wanted a more evil name and we found Thou Shalt Suffer [...]
7 - Since we are talking about music and bands, what are bands in Norwegian scene?
Ygg: Burzum LP is out. And [?] is about to release Immortal LP. Mayhem LP is being recorded. Enslaved and Emperor demos are out. As you can see, Norway has the biggest scene in the world. We rule.
8 - What bands can you recommend and which ones do you like the most?
Ygg: Bathory, King Diamond, Mercyful Fate, Darkthrone, Burzum, Mayhem, Celtic Frost, Pan.Thy.Monium, Deicide, Master's Hammer, The Cure, Messiaen, Esa Pekka S, Arne Nordheim, Diamanda Galas, Jerry Goldsmith (The Omen) and a few others that I forgot.
9 - A few words about your concerts?
Ygg: We only played a few concerts. The most successful one would be when we played with some fucking blues bands during [?] and made the kids cry.
11 - What are your favorite zines, movies, songs and drinks?
Ygg: I don't have a particular "favourite" "zine, but some, like Orcustus, Slayer, Occultus Satanicus and [?] Memoriam are good. Movies: Angel Heart, Highlander (I, II), Hellraiser (I, II) all Omen, the Shining and Haugelis other movies with evil emotions and horror music. I haven't read many books, but such as Rosemary's Baby, Satan's UnderworId and the Satanic Bible are interesting. The one I'm reading now - Leaves of Yggdrasil is very good. As for drinks, beer is the best, but of course, wine is also OK.
13 - Do you believe in life after death?
Ygg: I believe in the death of others.
[...]
Ygg: [...] Well, thanks for this interview. Say hello to all the Darkness and Evil. Write me in blood.
#make kids cry lol#bards zine orcustus mentioned#i LOVE hellraiser and the omen sm#write to ihsahn in blood hmm#emperor#black metal#true norwegian black metal#emperor band#ihsahn#ygg#samoth#tomas haugen#samot#vegard tveitan#zine#interview#for you nonnie#do not rely on the accuracy of this translation 😭#early 90s#1992#death industry zine

Someone dumbing down Sebek as just a racist to humans then saying they hate it when he’s looked over is so funny dawg that is literally you 😭😭😭 like I get some of you guys want to wait for EN to come out but do NOT rely on EN for accuracy it’s so much easier to find the translations for stories on YouTube
Sebek is that way because of his internalized racism, he is partially human and partially fae. Humans were COLONIZING Briar Valley, like how Europeans colonized everywhere else. He is so ill mannered towards humans because he saw what they did to his homeland, to Lilia, to MALLEUS.
Sure Sebek shouldn’t hold THIS much hatred for humans, but it’s entirely fair for him to dislike the race that began to kill people from their homeland simply because they were not ‘superior’. Most people who have a past of colonization hold the same thoughts.
Twst should have expanded on Sebek outside of chapter 7/vignettes but if you aren’t even going to read the translations DON’T COMMENT UNFAIRLY ABOUT HIS CHARACTER.
