Ask thingy! Idk if there's a limit but answer me this😅 8, 9, 10 and 16♡♡
There is never a limit! But I already answered 8 and 10 in the last two asks so I shall skip over them!
9. Do you like prequels?
Generally, yes! I love them. Sometimes even more than sequels if I feel like the thing being prequeled already had a nice neat ending. I feel sometimes there's also less risk in creating a disappointing piece of media with a prequel because its harder to damage the original story if that makes sense (with obviously exceptions of course (looking at you Star Wars)). DBH is one of the instances where I think a prequel could be less risky than an immediate sequel - the founding of jericho with simon/josh/norths stories, the making of Markus, looking into Carls connection to Kamski and what Kamski might know from the beginning about deviancy, the inner working of Cyberlife - how that resulted in the creation of the RK800 line etc. A sequel would of course work too but I think there would need to be a time jump because I wouldn't trust them to tackle the whole negotiating-robot-rights plotline without making an embarrassing disaster. But let's be honest any actual legitimate continuation of DBH is a Terrible Bad Idea and a disaster waiting to happen because David Cage is a hack lmao
16. Do you block people who like characters/fandoms/ships that you don't like?
I dont really block anyone except spammers. If something in particular doesn't vibe with me I'll block the tag but not individual blogs generally cause they might have other content I like and I don't really have any issue just skimming over stuff I dislike - especially since this fandom is TINY and the only thing in it that really freaks me out past mild dislike is that "box boy" au that gives me the big creeps, but it hardly comes up very frequently and I loooove a lot of the blogs that are into it so its whatever. So yeah, everyone's safe from Connorks Big Block Button 😂
#ask game#thank you for the questions!#the prequel questiom has actually sent me on a whole new headcanon direction for dbh pre game

Favorite Works
Tagged by @ausp-ice! Thank you, bud!
Rules: It’s time to love yourselves! Choose your 5 favourite works you created in the past year (fics, art, edits, etc. ) and link them below to reflect on the amazing things you brought into the world. Tag as many writers/artists/etc. as you want (fan or original) so we can spread the love and link each other to awesome works!
Well, if we’re only going off of the year 2020, I actually... don’t think I’ve made five things, lol. But if you’ll permit me some leeway, then...
(These are all DBH-related and in no particular order.)
A Simple Equation
Convin, Rated T: Actually managed to finish up one of my many, many WIPs and I’m really proud of the result! It’s been so unexpected, the response to it, too? I guess y’all out there really like your praise-kink Gavin and accidentally manipulative Connor, lol! XD
In Your Own Time
Gen, Rated T: Part of my ongoing Anderson family series, In Medias Res, I really think this one turned out great. It was an emotional journey, exploring each character individually and theorizing about what a birthday would mean to each of them. The last few scenes legit had me crying, too, even as I wrote it.
don’t go without me
North60, Rated T: I really ended up loving this short little thing. Not only is it for one of my favorite rarepairs (North60), but I feel like I really managed to key in to the real emotion of the piece without making it super long or involved. A real accomplishment for me.
The Lark Ascending
Convin, RK260, Rated G: This fic... Man, this fic means a lot to me. It’s a sort of strange, niche elemental!AU that was as much a labor of my imagination as it was a way to explore the characters I already love in a different setting. Not only is it the longest fic I’ve ever written (by a very large margin!) but I also think it’s the best. It’s the fic I’m proudest of, despite its rather lackluster reception.
Embrace
Yep, my fifth pick is actually art. The Fire and River Spirits from TLA. Now, listen, I’m no grandmaster here. But I tried my best with these two and I’m tentatively pleased with the results. I don’t really do art, lol. But I like how they turned out.
I’ll tag @the-majestic-cheese-turtle, @woppy42, @chenpath-art, @norchloe, @kuinshi (I know there are a bunch more of you out there. Please, feel free to jump on this, too, if you like!)

Beyond Human: DBH
To make up for my ABSOLUTE RADIO SILENCE, I’m going to post some info about this DBH AU I hopefully will be writing. Nothing’s going to be too heavily spoiled, even though these are just notes and I’m still kind of planning things.
-This is actually a combination of Detroit: Become Human and one of David Cage’s earlier games, Omikron: The Nomad Soul. Omikron is a bit of a clusterfuck, admittedly, but it has a cool concept and I think it would work well with DBH’s setting.
-This story is set in the future, FAR after 2035. The planet’s been ravaged by nuclear war and is currently in the middle of a nuclear winter/ice age. To survive, everybody’s living in climate-controlled domes-one of which happens to be in what was formerly Detroit!
-After the nuclear war, the whole United States kind of fell, and it was a while before a coherent government was reformed. This was the United Territories of Canada, and it was meant to mimic America’s democratic government-but it kind of turned into a dystopia. Whoopsies.
-So that means everything kind of sucks, even though it doesn’t seem like it. Everybody’s provided homes and food and water and jobs, you can work and rest at your leisure, healthcare is fantastic, there’s no homelessness, and the technology is really advanced; but there’s a lot of corruption in the government and police force, more people are dying than the said government is willing to admit, and the media is HEAVILY CENSORED. That means you can’t read or listen to or watch anything that has excessive conflict in it because God knows we don’t want to UPSET anybody!
-It’s kind of like Brave New World, actually. People just get drunk all the time and try to distract themselves with mindless movies and music and s e x. Drugs are prohibited, but that hasn’t stopped anybody. Red Ice is a particular favorite among the underclass, due to its sedative effects, but it also has a very high chance of causing your skin to fall off. So.
-(don’t do thirium kids)
-There are humans and androids, but there are also other types of robots that perform different jobs and services. They’re not as human/noid as the androids, so they’re lower on the whole social scale. Think Star Wars.
-The androids actually are on the same social level as humans, and for the most part, human and android interactions have been pretty civil. But slowly and surely, this society has been leaning more towards the androids than the humans-giving them more jobs, showing favoritism to them in social and political situations-and this has caused tensions to rise...
-(A problem I had with DBH was that it was clearly the Civil Rights movement, but with androids. You could change the setting to the 1950s and turn the androids into minorities and almost nothing would change. I know that David Cage wanted to make parallels to racism, but androids are a different SPECIES, and it’s kind of shoddy to just rewrite the Civil Rights movement but with androids. Just make up a new conflict for why your androids are discriminated against, David.)
-The story centers more around Kara, Alice, and the characters they interact with. Conner’s and Marcus’s stories don’t occur until 16 years later. This is because I want to focus more on Kara and give her some love; and her story sort of starts as the catalyst for the deviant rebellion, and for Marcus’s and Connor’s stories in turn.
-Kara is actually an AI that’s able to inhabit different android/robot bodies, making her incredibly versatile and useful in her job. She was told that she was activated to be Alice’s caretaker, but of course, she becomes suspicious later on because why would you waste such advanced AI on housekeeping?
-She’s currently watching over Alice, who was removed from her father Todd’s home and transported to her aunt’s. This is due to the fact that she was being abused, and the police actually DID something about it. She’s currently recovering from the trauma she went through, but her current situation isn’t the most peaceful either, which is why she needs Kara!
-(The reason for this narrative change was because I felt that the domestic abuse shown in DBH could have been written better. It felt more like a plot point, or something meant to be D r A m A t I C and provoke De EP e MO tI On than a respectful portrayal of abuse...I mean, most abuse victims don’t have much of a choice in getting out of their situation, and if you try to portray the opposite in a game like DBH, it could be very harmful.)
-(This article explains it better than I can-https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2017-12-04-detroit-become-human-under-fire-for-controversial-domestic-abuse-scene)
-but anyway
-Alice’s uncle is missing, and she wants Kara to help her find him.
-This, of course, leads to a whole chain of events that help Kara and Alice realize how screwed everything is, and that the corruption of this city runs really, really deep.
-And then they get pulled into a series of ~wacky rebellion antics~.
-Kara, meanwhile, slowly becomes deviant.
-Also, Ralph accompanies the two on their journey at some point. Ralph deserved better. I’m going to give him everything he wants.
Wow. That was a lot. I might have to make another post. Sorry about that!
But anyway, those are my notes on Beyond Human, and I hope you enjoyed reading about them!

Excuse you!!!!! First of all, anon, if you ever call yourself that again I will find you on your birthday and I will take from you that which you love the most. If at any point I happen to say something that rings true or seems even vaguely insightful, that is a product of practice and experience and has nothing to do with natural aptitude! Literally I have been trained for more than a decade to read things as a career, and I’m still slowly learning how to do it better!
It is, of course, also a product of even less remunerative forms of practice and experience-- that is to say, too much time in fandom. Even in that regard, there’s still more for me to learn! But it’s really fun to think about how each fandom has its own distinct ecology, how each subsection of that fandom operates under a distinct microclimate, and how each country (or linguistic community) has such different norms of engagement YEAH THAT’S RIGHT THE THIRD ITEM IN THIS LIST DOESN’T COME WITH AN ENVIRONMENTAL METAPHOR
I think that’s the problem with fan studies academics who aren’t actually knee-deep in the filth of fandom, but are just... distantly fascinated by fandom; they’re trying to draw global conclusions by aggregating disparate sets of local phenomena, because they haven’t run up against how heterogeneous fandom is on the ground level. I mean, sure, there are trends! There are waves! But sometimes people do arrive at the same thing via wildly different paths, and having seen that makes me reluctant to come to any kind of conclusion (other than only very tentative suggestions). So everything I say here should probably be read as you picture me shrugging so noncommittally that my shoulders shoot up past my ears. (Thank you very much for reading v v v)
THIS IS... TOO CLOSE TO A HORROR MOVIE. It’s kind of like that AO3 Gothic post! “YOU ARE ALREADY FOLLOWING THIS USER. YOU ARE ALREADY FOLLOWING THIS USER.” As your foot snags on a floorboard and you come crashing down onto your elbows, the voice dogs your heels through the interminable hallways. “YOU ARE ALREADY FOLLOWING THIS USER.” You try to crawl to some sort of escape, one knee after the other, sobbing for breath. “I DON’T WANT TO FOLLOW THIS USER,” you scream, tasting blood in your throat. “IT’S TOO LATE,” says the voice. “YOU ARE ALREADY FOLLOWING THIS USER.” This is the price you pay for making kind but unwise decisions with your social media accounts!
NAGEKI. NAGEKI. NAGEKI. NAGEKI. NAGEKI. NAGEKI. NAGEKI. NAGEKI. NAGEKI. NAGEKI. NAGEKI. NAGEKI. NAGEKI. NAGEKI. NAGEKI. NAGEKI. NAGEKI. NAGEKI. NAGEKI. NAGEKI. NAGEKI. NAGEKI. NAGEKI. NAGEKI. NAGEKI. NAGEKI. NAGEKI. NAGEKI. NAGEKI. NAGEKI. NAGEKI.
Gosh I love Hatoful Boyfriend SO MUCH. I have to confess, though, that this is one of those canons/fandoms where my love is composed mostly of the emotional memories that I have from the process of playing the game, not of any recall of actual factual details! I did play it and a short bit of Holiday Star, but I didn’t actively seek out the fandom or any fanworks, and I think that allowed a lot of the plot to ebb from my brain over time. But, I mean, it’s like 95% still there! I’ve only forgotten some of the intricacies of the BBL route!
Hatoful is a MIRACLE. It is an IMPROBABLE CONFLAGRATION WITH GREAT CHARACTERS and it would surprise absolutely no one who is familiar with my terrible track record with character preferences to hear that my first instinct was to make a beeline for Shuu. Not even exactly because of AH MY SERIAL KILLER PARTRIDGE DOCTOR LOVER feelings, but more-- I just really needed to see what he was about??!? And then it turned out that what he was about was Ryuuji Kawara, which (it would also surprise no one to hear) I was INTO. You know what I was also into?? That bit during the epilogue where Kazuaki turns up pushing Shuu’s wheelchair and Sakuya is like ?!?!?! APPLYING ETHICAL GUIDELINES TO EITHER OF YOU IS COMPLETELY FUTILE. Like what kind of convalescence interactions are Kazuaki and Shuu even having during this time!! They are both SO INCAPABLE OF RELATING TO EACH OTHER IN WELL-ADJUSTED WAYS that I was charmed in the way that you are charmed when you see something so intractable that it defies understanding. I just want them to have hilariously maladaptive cohabitation routines where they are both SO SERIOUS about themselves and the entire rest of the cast is just like ????!?!??!?!?!!?! WHY IS THIS HAPPENING
I ended up talking a lot about Shuu, but I really do love all of them so much. They are all so special and if I started shouting the names of characters I loved I would just end up shouting all of them! It’s debatable whether Shuu is even my favorite, because Okosan exists... as does Anghel... and Yuuya... and Azami... and Sakuya... and... SEE THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I WAS AFRAID WOULD HAPPEN. Anon you are a blessing for sending in this ask and you should tell me your feelings about Hatoful too!
fkjld;hlgkeofkld “I DON’T DANCE” IS DEFINITELY A REFERENCE I HAVE MADE BEFORE, IT’S LIKE YOU KNOW ME INSTINCTIVELY ANON. First of all I will never be out of DBH, I talk about this a lot but I do have to make it clear, I’m just not capable of losing interest in things for good so you bet I’ll still be in DBH fandom long after DBH fandom has functionally ceased to exist! Second of all, Markus x Simon (Simarkus, I suppose, but my aversion to namesmushes continues unabated) to me is less a pairing that I choose to ship or not ship, and more... a precondition, like a natural fact of the world. In my head I am like, yes, I accept Markus x Simon, what would I be otherwise, a flat-earther?! And I say this as someone who loves North very much and doesn’t care for invalidating her as a romance option. Markus x Simon is just... a thing! But anyway THIS IS SO BEAUTIFUL
SIMON TEACHING MARKUS THAT IT’S OKAY TO EXPRESS HIS MUSICAL THEATER INCLINATIONS
WOULD ALSO WATCH SIMON AND NORTH DO THE “BOP TO THE TOP” ROUTINE
Oh my god I hope that in this AU Josh is Troy but that the plot is split in half instead of converging so that Josh is just running around having important epiphanies and going through crises and falling in love with whoever Gabriella is, but it’s happening entirely in the background while Simon and Markus just engage in one elaborately convoluted set piece metaphor after another about Markus discovering his sexuality. At the end of the movie they meet up and Josh is like “Guys so much has happened, I don’t know where to start” and Markus is like “Okay! Well Simon and I are an item now” and Josh is like “...That’s too big a thing, you were supposed to be the side plot”
I realize that “I Don’t Dance” is from HSM 2 but honestly that is a sequel that is FAR SUPERIOR to the original!!!!!!!!!! (Insert 15-minute monologue here about how I think “Bet on It” is one of the funniest pieces of cultural output that humanity has ever produced.)
