I am once again tormenting myself for fun and enrichment with the fact that, quite frankly, I simply do not believe in the least that Vander's violence toward Silco began with or was isolated to The River Incident.

#Arcane #Vander #Silco #Zaundads #do I personally interpret them as having been intimate companions of one flavor or another in the past? yes.#do I also interpret them as having grown increasingly codependent + toxic over time #to the point that physical violence and other forms of abuse developed an escalating presence in the dynamic? yes.#they're both so fundamentally vital to the person they each become; and I like to think that their relationship was fittingly complicated #containing a dizzyingly intense kaleidoscope of good and ill and everything in between for a long time prior to The River Incident #I just don't quite believe that they'd have etched themselves into each other's very BONES the way they did #if everything in the past had been more or less decent right up until it Wasn't #(this is the problem with being new to a fandom: not having specific people to yell with about things)#(I'm ALL'A Y'ALL'S problem until I make a circle of dedicated yelling buddies)
