Okay, this is going to be a little wild, but stay with me.
WHAT IF, in the DNDverse, BOTH Adonis and Wolf were Ebenezer Scrooge, it's just that one of them came through a portal from Victorian London to that world?
I’ve been turning this question in my brain like a rotisserie and cooking it all day.
It’s kind of a mind-bender, because they are both LITERALLY the same guy in every universe. Sometimes they’re twins, sometimes brothers, sometimes it’s the future, sometimes the past, but both these gentlemen come from the exact same blueprint.
SO, for that whole concept to become reality in that one of them is from Victorian London and find their way into this world is fascinating.
I’m torn between him just kind of no-clipping into the dimension, or it’s some portal system like the Ghosts used with him, and he’s kind of deposited there. Then for him to see that there is a version of himself in this universe? Man thinks he’s seen it all, only to get another curveball.
I have so many questions - what about the universe/people he leaves behind? WHICH one comes from the Victorianverse? Is this a Kagome situation, where he’s going back and forth, or is he stuck? And, of course, HOW do both Scroogey-poos meet?
I am seated for this convo - I love this idea and giving the DnDverse some more teeth.

Talking about the DnDverse recently has got my brain churning more about what the heck Connie is like, and the politics of the world. She's definitely a fire mage, and maybe because fire magic is SO essential compared to other forms of magic (how often do you need to conjure a lightning spell compared to a fire spell to cook or start a campfire?) is seen as commonplace. No novelty. Because fire magic is SO important, education on how to do it becomes widespread, and fire mages are seen as 'lesser' compared to other noble magic users, because it's more useful to common folk and education is more accessible. You'd think it would be prized knowledge, but you know how nobles are. Constance is often called a 'lamplighter' and an insult (like 'knife-ear' or 'rabbit' for elves.) "I can't believe a lamplighter like her would risk running from her lord," one whispers as Connie sells trinkets and does parlor tricks on the side of the road (she is clumsy and TERRIBLE at it). "We should report her to the patrol so Lord Spiegler can fetch her and take her back home. This is agonizing to watch." "Maybe she can roast him a nice dinner as a means of forgiveness, haha! It's about all she's good for. That and, well, other things." "Hush! Ears."
No, because I love this idea! It's such a a unique tale as fire magic always seems like such a cool power everyone wants to have in a magical world. I mean, rightfully so: Fire is powerful, destructive, amazing. We literally grew up on a TV show where people who could control fire almost took over the entire world! So to have a world where having that power is not really accompanied with much prestige because, it is such a commonly used bit of magic, is very interesting. Also, let's be honest, though it's harder to do, fire is something you can literally create without the use of magic too, and this would also be a time where you'd need to learn how to make fire with or without magic. So the fact it's something that even no magic wielders can generate probably makes the power seem even more banal as well.
All that put together makes such sense for Connie and her story. But that just makes me wonder: What's Orin got for magic that makes people think so highly of him? Maybe illusions? That could definitely play well into his character. He beats Connie and she has a black eye? No problem; just do a little glamour on her and she looks right as rain. And she's not going to tell anyone, are you, Dear?
Actually looking through some of those pics on Pinterest and some of the closets has given me ideas of where Connie could possibly go in terms of growing in her magic. Lots of stuff with phoenixes. I know dragons are usually associated with fire magic, but a phoenix is so much more appropriate symbolically for this girl all around.

So, angsty ask:
Do you think the Twins ever have nightmares about the wifeys leaving them? Like, Bess/Connie find out the extent of their pasts and (although the irl versions have accepted and love them) they still dream that they sporadically change their minds and decided to leave?
“You’re no better than the man I fled from.”
Or, they dream that they returned to their former selves, and their wives fall out of love with them?
Horrible visions of their wife turning away in disgust/tears haunt them. A life beyond salvation? So be it. But living a life knowing he drove the love of his life away AGAIN? They couldn’t do it.
Then they awaken, gasping for air.
In bed, wifey is right next to them, probably still naked and smiling from a night of passionate love-making, and he tried to quiet his breaths/sobs to not disturb her, and relief sinks in.
Absolutely they do. In every timeline, Bess' Eb has such nightmares, especially near the beginning of their romantic relationship. But the fear behind the dreams also sometimes vary.
Lots of times, he dreams that she either rejects him because of his past or that he returns to his old ways and drives her away. More than once Bess has woken up to find him after a nightmare, and she just embraces him, showering him with kisses, caresses, and gentle words. She reminds him she knows what he was like before he changed; he has been honest with her about it (often to his own detriment); she's heard other people's accounts; she's witnessed how lots of people still fear and despise him for his history.
"I love and admire you all the more because of it. It's proof how much you've changed and how strong your dedication to being a better man truly is. Your past doesn't disgust me--it saddens me. Because I can't help but think how lonely and hurt you must have felt for so long, and how much you must have despised yourself to let yourself fall into that way. I know you, and I know you won't go back to that. And you know that I won't let you either. I have you."
Sometimes, especially if he's been talking with people who have made comments and he's been witness to Bess receiving attention from men closer to her age at a party, his nightmares will be about her leaving him for someone younger, handsomer, spryer. He does trust Bess completely, of course. But with his past history with most women, it's no surprise these are very deep-seated insecurities that, occasionally, get triggered. He's working on squashing them, with Bess' help.
It certainly does help when he watches Bess turn down interested parties, excusing herself from conversations with some of the most eligible young bachelors in the blueblood stud book to immediately beeline towards him when she spots him across a room. She'll greet him with a socially acceptably passionate kiss, like she knows he was in need of just a bit of reassurance that she's his and his alone. She probably does; she can read him so well. Then, at home, she'll further reassure him in their bedroom how he's the only man she wants--the only man she needs. "You are the only man in my world. Every other may as well be blood or boys."
In the DNDverse, specifically, he has terrible nightmares of losing control of his wolf and killing Bess, or worse, turning her into what he is. Bess has gotten rid of most of her silver, but Eb has insisted she keep the pure silver pendant from her priestesshood and wear it during the full moons when he is at his wildest, strongest, and most vicious and uncontrolled. Silver hurts him in general, but it's even more repulsive to him when wolfed out. During a regular transformation he can withstand being around her if she were to wear it (she refuses to in those circumstances). Under a full moon, the silver of her pendant is so pure in quality, she might as well be protected by a magical barrier, his wolf stays so far away.
Bess isn't the biggest fan of this; she hates the idea of causing her beloved discomfort and not being able to be close to him, but it certainly has seemed to help assuage Eb's fears and made him feel more comfortable (ironically). And that's what matters. So out comes the full moon and on goes the pendant for one lonely, heartbreaking night. It's painful, but it's worth it for all the other happy ones together.

Just thinking a little about a DnD Scroogeverse (even though I don't know much about it--actually playing it isn't my jam, but listening to the stories is):
Tumblr media
Ebenezer is definitely a rogue living a vagabond lifestyle.
You wouldn't think that would be him until you discover he's afflicted with lycanthropy and was thrown out of his town.
Actually, it was probably more like an angry mob came to kill him (he was definitely a tax collector beforehand, so there's extra rage against him pent up) and he had to flee or die.
He probably wanted to die, really, but his inner wolf said otherwise.
His inner wolf probably functions a bit more like the Hulk, but the full moon is still a thing and that's when he's most dangerous.
Bess is a roving ex-priestess of the Moon.
Moon priestesses are definitely warriors.
They're also supposed to remain pure, so circumstances in Bess' past have led her to being disgraced and exiled from her temple, hence the "ex" status.
Because the hierarchy of the Moon is notoriously bitchy and cruel.
Bess is also the vessel for the moon goddess herself, so you bet that came back to bite the temple in the ass at some point.
Bess does have some magical abilities because of her priestess background and also because of her status as a vessel, but she's truly only at her most powerful in that regard when the goddess is currently inhabiting her body.
This rarely happens however, as such a merging drains Bess' life-force and leaves her comatose for days, sometimes weeks on end.
Her presence can actually calm Ebenezer's Wolf, even on nights of the full moon.
Nobody knows if it is because of who or what she is, but if the Wolf is in a rampage, Bess is the calming draught.
She's soothed him out of his wolf state and back into human form many times.
Eb has also talked Bess down from a goddess infused rampage.
He stayed beside her the entire time she recovered.
The pair are definitely bonded and in love surprise-surprise.
It's also speculated, because of Bess' unique situation, the moon goddess herself might also be in love with Ebenezer.
Harry--who is a bard--definitely wrote a song about them.
It's his most requested song.

okay i am so sorry in advance for like All Of This but youve activated the Special Interest Neurons and i gotta say. i lowkey want your d&d AU ebenezer (werewolf rogue) and my d&d AU ebenezer (dragon disguising himself as a human) to interact somehow. i can’t get the mental image out of my head of both of them wondering “how long will it take for him to realize that there’s something Off about me” about the other. again i am SO SORRY i know this is a very silly idea but it got into my head and it won’t leave :D👍
Ooh! A human-formed dragon is a perfect fit Eb what with the hoarding riches and what not. 🤣. Love that idea. And please don't ever apologize about sending asks--I love to read them and think about the questions/theories/facts the pose. Especially when they're concerning my favorite old miser.😅
As for how they could potentially meet? Simplest way would probably be a spell going wrong. Some magic wielder from one of their groups reaches across dimensions for some reason or other and the Ebenezer accidentally gets pulled through. Then, as if having to deal with the fact that "there's another me" isn't bad enough, they also have to worry about the other them finding out their... oddities. They both probably think the other one seems so perfectly normal (and, in at least my Eb's case, he has a loving, devoted mate either currently by his side or back in his own world who is undoubtedly fighting to find him and bring him back home) and feel inferior because of it. If there's one other person who should be at least accepting of you, it should be yourself. But how can a "normal" you, who seems to have everything you could ever hope for, possibly be okay with you being a hidden dragon or cursed monster? "He's succeeded where I've failed. He's doing well while I'm struggling."
And then something happens that causes them to reveal their natures to each other and they probably both think the other's situation is fascinating.🤣. Wolf Eb is wondering how the bloody hell Dragon Eb can be so huge in true form yet can become so small for his disguise. Dragon Eb is wondering how the lycanthropy works because he was under the impression werewolves could only turn during the full moon. He's also curious if Wolf Eb can use his werewolf abilities as a human or if more wolfish qualities carry over into his human form. Yes, Wolf can and yes, they do. And some of them make it damn near impossible to get anything productive done whenever Bess is randy or ovulating.

The Declaration; A DND Scroogeverse snippet
The Priestess stared at him in that same way so many others had: Fear, disgust, abhorrence--it was all there in her eyes. Suddenly the rampaging chimera wasn't the monster anymore--he was. The disappointment, frustration, and anger that flared inside him at that, caused Ebenezer's wolf to tighten its grip on him.
This woman had traveled with their party on this quest for a week or more, had come to know him, even be friendly with him. Then just like that, at the revelation of what he was, all faith and trust she'd culminated in him--which had been strong enough for her to willingly partner with him--was gone. Washed out with the tide. It made him want to go as wild with rage as he would during the full moon and decimate everything in his path. Eb fought back the urge, clinging to the little humanity he could hold in this wolfish state. His grip on the struggling, screaming chimera tightened, and there was a sickening crunch as he broke the the base conjoined necks, severing the spinal column with his force. Immediately the creature went silent and limp.
"Y-You're... a werewolf..." the Priestess just barely uttered, voice meek and full of horror.
A bestial growl echoed from the man's chest before he could stop it. "Yes," he snarled in his wolfish voice.
"That's why you wouldn't use my sword," the woman murmured to herself in realization. "And wouldn't handle my relics like everyone else." The horror in the woman's eyes was instantly replaced with righteous fury. In the blink of an eye she was on her feet, both swords drawn and brandished towards him. "Beast!" she spat. "Hell beast! Foul! Cursed! Unfit to live!"
Ebenezer's vision began to go redder at the edges and tunnel-out, a sure sign his wolf was about to overtake him and go wild. At this point, with being threatened and seen as something to be sent back to the shadows, he was just about willing to let it. "Funny," he growled. "You were calling me 'friend' just a few moments ago, now after I've saved you, I'm just a dirty, worthless beast."
"Don't you speak to me, Demon! You're a fell monster--unclean and not worth the air you breathe. Such is the fate of the cursed and fallen." Her silver blades flashed and sang through the air as she whipped them around in an attempt to intimidate. (She really was green.) "It is part of my calling to put you poor, ruined souls out of your misery, and to keep your seed from spreading and tainting the world."
Something inside Ebenezer cracked. He released a roar of anger as he hefted the carcass of the chimera and chucked it away to clear the field between them. It fell upon and crushed one of the abandoned huts several yards away. He noted how the young woman suddenly looked unsure and a bit fearful again at such a display of brute strength. It pleased him more than he cared to admit. "Do it then," he challenged, voice dark and almost incoherent with the bleeding through of his wild nature. He flexed his fingers and his claws grew larger and sharper, still dripping with the green-black blood of the chimera.
The Priestess shook off her fear and reset the determination and anger in her eyes. "You don't think I will?" she hissed.
Ebenezer's snarling lips curled into a sinister, cheshire grin, somehow baring even more of his sharp, bloodied fangs. "A half-baked warrior priestess, nearly just torn to bits by a chimera, facing off in a battle to the death with a werewolf?" he replied with a dark, snarling laugh. "I don't think you will--I don't think you can. Fledgling."
Fire flared in the Priestess' eyes. With a cry of a anger, she slashed her sword. "Yaaah!"
There was a flash of light and a sharp, icy hot sting cut into the great gray wolf's chest. He winced and grabbed at his sternum. When he pulled his paw away, he saw more blood, only this kind was dark red: His blood. Rage boiled up inside him and his large, pointed ears flattened to his skull as he slowly looked the woman's way, all his teeth bared. His vision was going redder; she was becoming the only thing he could see and focus on. "You'll regret making me bleed, Fledgling." He licked his slavering jaws.
The woman merely gave him an indignant glare and spun her swords into new positions before using a gravity sigel to rocket herself forward. "Hhhhaaaahhhh!"
The werewolf braced himself, his wildness almost ready to pull him under. She'd cut him, yes, but he didn't fear the Priestess. Despite her power, she wasn't as skilled as she might be; her youth and bravado made her sloppy. Even now, as she came on, she was being reckless, opening herself up to a well-timed slash that would too easily cut into a chink of her armor. It was pathetic, really--almost frustrating how easy she made it.
The sound of rushing water roared in Ebenezer's ears and he felt the blast of cool, moist air as it rushed upon him. A massive cascade of water parted around him and slammed into the speeding Priestess with such force the impact ripped through the air, and carried her upwards in the splash. The woman flew skywards and then crashed to the ground, drenched, stunned, gasping for breath.
Ebenezer stared in bafflement. What the bloody-
"You better back the hell up, bitch!"
Ebenezer actually startled a bit as Bess landed in front of him in a flash of blues and grays. Immediately, the red in his eyes began to recede, his wolf started to settle. An unexpected feeling of relief came over him.
Groaning and spluttering, the Priestess started to push herself off the ground. She glowered in their direction, her eyes so dark it was amazing Bess wasn't smote down on the spot. "You're interfering in Moon Priestess affairs, Sister!"
"Since when is committing murder a Priestess affair?" Bess snapped, swords drawn, but not yet brandished.
"There is no such thing as murder when it comes to the cursed and damned, Sister--or have you forgotten your teaching?"
"I've forgotten nothing. But I do question everything."
"Heresy!"
"And if that's what I'm to be burned for, so be it."
"It's a werewolf! A beast! Poisoned, corrupted, and tainted in flesh, blood, and soul! It's a danger to the Light and must be eliminated, Sister!" The Priestess was on her feet again, summoning her fallen weapons back to her.
At that Bess readied her weapons and moved into a fighting stance. "I'm not your Sister," she growled. "And if you move against him, it'll be the last thing you ever do."
Ebenezer felt his heart stop and his stomach sink. Threatening the life of a Moon Priestess, even as an ex-Priestess, was tantamount to painting a target on one's back. The Lunar Temple did not take kindly to their kindred being threatened and often took it upon themselves to see that those with the gall to make such threats were dealt with so they may never bring harm upon the Temple again. So for Bess to be saying such things and while protecting him--another blasphemous act....it chilled the wolf to the bone as much as it warmed the deepest recesses of his soul. "Brightness," he murmured just loudly enough that only she would hear, "don't. Please."
Bess just dared to glance back over her shoulder at him but did not back down from her stance.
"You're protecting it?!" the Priestess bellowed in indignation.
"I'm protecting him," Bess corrected, "yes. With my life, I protect him--just as he protects me with his."
The younger female snorted. "You truly expect me to believe a beast of darkness and corruption--a mindless, monstrous, child-devouring demon of bloodlust, would protect anything other than itself?"
Bess smirked. "There's a lot you and the Temple don't know about werewolves," she taunted. "Or any so-called "beast of darkness" for that matter."
The Priestess became quiet for a long moment, a curious look on her face. Her eyes darted back and forth between the ex-Priestess and the beast standing behind her, as though she were trying to work something out--add something together. Finally realization flashed into her eyes. "You love it," she breathed in disbelief. "You're in love with the beast."
"Don't, Bess," Wolf insisted more loudly this time. It was bad enough she'd already threatened this woman; if she confessed to breaking the most sacred of the Sisterhood's commandments by loving one of the cursed and damned--that was it. She would be corrupted just as he was in the eyes of the Lunar Temple. She would be one of the number of fell creatures on their list to snuff out.
But Bess. Didn't. Back. Down. "Yes," she answered clearly, unashamedly. "Yes, I do love him. With everything that I am, was, and could ever hope to be, I love the werewolf, Ebenezer Scrooge."
The young Priestess' blades sang again as she slashed them savagely about. "Then you are a heretic and blasphemer!"
Bess' face hardened and went dark. Her grip on her swords tightened. "And you never should've left home, Girl."

I'mma let you guys decide if Bess killed her or sent her packing with her tail between her legs and a message for the Temple to leave Bess' Pack alone.🤗

Great. Thanks to @m0nsterwife now I'm thinking even more about my DnD Scroogeverse.😅
As if it wasn't already soft over the idea of regular Ebenezer getting all protective and doting and gentle with a pregnant Bess and then baby, I've now turned to mush at the thought of werewolf Ebenezer getting all protective and doting and gentle with pregnant Bess and then baby.
Just imagine it:
First of all, he probably knows she's pregnant before she does--can smell the change and hear the baby's heartbeat. Of course he doesn't know what those scents or sounds are because he's never really been around a pregnant woman since he was cursed and, also, they still believe Bess can't have children. So when he finds out THAT'S what those sounds and smells mean, he's completely dumbfounded. And terrified. He's a werewolf. What happens when werewolves have children? Are the children cursed too? Is carrying a werewolf's child more dangerous for the mother? Will his children inherit any sort of... wolfishness/wildness/feralness from him? How do you raise werewolf children? What if he accidentally hurts them when the wolf comes out?
After lots of communication and reassurances, both Eb's and Bess' worries would simmer down, but that fear would always be there. Rightfully so, honestly, and Bess can't blame him. She has some worries of her own, being a moon goddess vessel and all.
But the further along the pregnancy gets, the more comfortable Eb becomes with it all. His inner wolf makes him go more protective and territorial than ever before, struggling to let Bess even sweep the cottage or gather eggs. He always keeps an arm around Bess when company is about and struggles not to growl when even their extended family comes close to her. He cradles her so close, wrapping himself around her to keep her safe and warm. His big, paw-like hands with their claw-like nails hold and caress her growing middle so tenderly and sweetly. And the farther along it gets, the more easily Eb can hear and smell his baby--his little pup. And the more at ease and in love he feels.
Bess gets so many tender kisses, caresses, and affections--and that's saying a lot because she was already swimming in those before the pregnancy. Eb's wildness keeps up with her libido easily when that starts to become an issue. Pregnancy is no picnic as she comes to remember, but even so, all she can think about is letting her mate put another pup in her belly as soon as possible because she can already tell what a magnificent father Ebenezer will make. She adores the side of him--the side that curls up with her in their bed and wraps his arms around her waist and he lays between her legs and presses his ears and face to her belly to better hear, smell, and talk to their little pup. He kisses her belly so gently and she melts all over. She wants to see more of this side of him. She wants to make his dreams of being surrounded by people who love him--being surrounded by family--come true.

Um... so the DND Scroogeverse? If Scrooge is a werewolf, Bryant is probably a vampiric class monster. Which actually fits quite well, considering his whole... thing.
Now there's a battle to see.

(HI IM ON DESKTOP SORRY I ACCIDENTALLY CLICKED THE FOLLOWING BUTTON IT'S FIXED NOW THO I HOPE I DIDNT FREAK YOU OUT) okay but. thinking about the way dragons age. dragon!eb is prolly upwards of, like, a hundred years old... it doesn't show the way it would on a human, of course, but just. thinking about how he's been set in his ways for almost a century. and how, at the same time, he's been restraining himself and/or feeling that loneliness for over a century!
Considering how dragons age and how Eb looks in his 50s, I'd almost think 100 years is still way too young, honestly. But the older he is, the lonelier he is and the harder Bess is gonna try to get him with his special someone.😅 She's probably even going to recruit Wolf's assistance.

Oh, I love all of this! Dragon!Eb is a fascinating and heartbreaking soul I want to hug and smack in equal measure. 😏And the fact that there is a romantic interest? Bess would pick up on it so fast and begin the art of cupid to finally get the two of them together. She loves Ebenezer so much that the thought of any version of him being lonely and unloved breaks her heart. But at the same time, considering your Eb still sounds a bit like a jackass, she'd definitely butt heads with him and enjoy pissing him off. (She can be such an instigator.)
Dragon!Eb: You do realize, Woman, that you're mouthing off to a monstrous, fire-breathing beast of skyborne death?
Bess: I got a goddess that likes to wear my skin on my side and sleep unprotected next to a cursed man every night, even when he's in his hellbeast form. You're not exactly scary, pal.
Their relationship would kind of end up like it is with @rom-e-o 's Scrooge (Adonis). They are siblings (-in-law) and have great love and respect for each other but absolutely torment each other if given a chance. I can see Bess being that way with any other Scrooge that's not hers. (Although she and Wolf absolutely do tease and torment each other in their own playful ways.). She'd probably nickname dragon!Eb 'Smoky' (especially if the name annoyed him) and would absolutely give him hugs (especially if the hugs annoyed him).
