Now that things like Artshield exist, I feel more comfortable posting art again *cries in a corner*
"forgive me mother for I have sinned" - because Vergil doesn't need to ask Sparda for forgiveness. He has to ask it to his human heart he always belittled so much. He has to ask it to Eva.
Tried something more ~graphic~ and not really anatomically correct with how the blood flowed down his face - had a totally different idea to use more graphic colours and make it very divided between teal and red, but, alas, I cannot work with graphic styles... Yet.
Alsoooo tumblr already turns down the image quality and, as I mentioned above, I did use Artshield to protect it from AI (because fuck you AI bros and tumblr for scraping our stuff without consent) - I'm still learning how to use it and how to make the output quality better but, honestly, just being able to post without worrying endlessly my art might be stolen by those lazy degenerates is good enough for now.
And finally, I'm gonna add this one as a sticker on my Redbubble shop to replace Vergil's old design - you can support a human artist and find my shop in this link!
oh humans, we are always struggling, aren't we?

Speaking of Dante almost using the DT against Nero, I always thought that was a very interesting scene and gives a good look at Dante’s character. He starts the battle mocking Nero, not saying a word (after murdering a “holy” man in front of him), and it’s almost like he’s putting things together as they fight. AND it looks like he’s consciously trying not to DT despite the fact that Nero is trying to beat him to death.
I agree! He even goes as far as mocking Red Queen — part of me really thinks he wanted to see what the kid could do and got little surprised. Like, don’t get me wrong, it’s very clear Dante is in full control of those fights but I do think he underestimated Nero a little. I don’t think he’d have caught those boots to the face (or that bitch slap in 5 tbh lol) if he didn’t.
I always wondered if that scene was more defensive/inadvertent or like... just because he’s in such close proximity to his own blood — like a less intense version of how he and Vergil are just inclined to fight when they’re around each other. Or both.
I agree though, it’s a really interesting scene — the devil’s in the details with this series, after all.

I doubt it with Deadly Fortune, since a lot of that one isn’t canon and/or rewrites some of DMC4 for some odd reason (I think). Before the Nightmare might see an English translation for like a special edition or Vergil dlc (esp. since bringing the series back was such a successful gamble that’s paid dividends), but I’m not getting my hopes up.
DMC’s side media is so hard to get ahold of that it’s infuriating. Like, Visions of V has probably been the most easily accessible side material the series has ever had and I still probably tell about a half dozen people a week that it does exist in fully in English/where it can be read. :/

Sevi plays DMC5
GUYS THIS GAME IS SO MUCH FUN OMG
I’m only at Mission 06 now (just finished Prolog and the first five levels), but omg, I’m having so much fun.
Putting everything under the cut, ‘cause it could be spoilers for someone, right:
So, the game just throws you into the mix. The prolog and tutorial level? Already the first fight against Urizen (the one where Rebellion breaks, and Lady and Trish get captured by Urizen). The prolog ends with V dragging Nero out of there so they can regroup. Dante is left behind, holding Urizen off.
(My heart break into shambles when V and Nero got outside and Morrison, completely beside himself, was like “Where’s Dante? Dante lost?!”, poor guy.)
The game itself starts only a month later (meaning Dante got stuck a whole month in the demon tree, which explains a lot about why he looks so hobo-style). And up until now? It’s really awesome.
The graphics are so freaking neat. It looks so real, it feels like I’m playing a movie or something. And the work they put into everything, hotdamn. There’s like… so many tiny details. A broken TV at the wall that’s still playing and sparking a bit. Stains on the walls and carpets. Debris everywhere. Light and shadow are used so neat to put emphasis on certain things. I ran out of one building, second floor, and like – I had to stop and just look at the view, because there was a sunrise over the city and it looked absolutely breathtaking. Just, amazing.
The gameplay itself is real fun. I’ve only played Nero and V so far, and I’m still struggling a bit to get back into the rhythm, but both of them are hella fun, gameplay-wise.
Nero is pretty much the same as in DMC4, just, smoother – a lot smoother. And the Devil Breakers are so great. I had to test around a bit which one does what, and I still confuse them, but… everyone will find a way to make the most of this feature. There are some for melee, some for distance fights, and they can turn a fight around utterly. SS rank was super easy to achieve once I remembered not to break the damn thing every time. XD
V is completely different to play. Like, you don’t play V, per se, in the fight – you play Shadow for melee-fights, while Griffon is basically your “gun”, striking lightning into the enemies. Nightmare is your Devil Trigger, attacking on his own as an AI instead of having to be controlled. It’s a bit of a struggle at first to position yourself right – you basically have to make sure V is not in the middle of things, while Griffon and Shadow need to be close enough to the enemy your aiming at to hit anything. Else they just hit air when you press the button. So you basically have to look where the enemy is, plus where V is, plus keep an eye on your demons. And V needs to land the finisher himself, else the demons don’t die! I fucked those fights up spectacularly the first few times XD But after a while, it gets really intuitive!
The story is… not much of a story, right now. You just get thrown into it! It’s like, boom, go save Dante and the city. I would say a lot is explained later on.
For example, though (again, spoiler) – Dante is still in the demon tree after a whole month. Nero is the one to save Lady, she’s in that flying demon from, uh, Mission 04 I think? Which means she also was stuck in there for a month. Trish is still missing (although I think I spotted her in Mission 05, but I was busy not letting V die at the time, can’t be sure).
And guys, my favorite part? The character dynamics and dialogues. It’s so much fun! I keep laughing loudly the whole time, even though it’s all very serious situations, right.
For example, when Nero frees Lady – she’s also naked like Trish is – and catches her, Nico is like “Dude, I can’t believe you’re doing this to Kyrie! I will have to tell her. Just kidding”, and once she walks away, Nero mutters “Kyrie would kill me right now”. (I freaking spit out my water laughing over that mental image.)
When Nico finds a piece of demon after Nero’s first boss fight, she sniffs it, and Nero points out “Did you just sniff that?! You don’t know where that has been!” – and Nico looks back with a brilliant smile “Up your butt?”
Or when Griffon and V encounter Niddhog – V’s first boss fight – it turns out that Niddhog is… not the smartest guy on this planet, okay. And Griffon is like “V, let’s just go, he can’t do anything, anyway. He’s just a parasite in the tree!”
“Did you just insult me?! You insulted me!”
“Oh-oh, I think he heard me… and he’s angry! AH!”
And five minuts later, when you didn’t die, Griffon is like “V! We survived! It must be our lucky day. Let’s go play a game of cards!” (I just love this birb, okay, he makes me laugh.)
And so on, and on. Nico’s and Nero’s interactions, and Griffon’s dry comments, especially, are so much fun to watch. (Especially since you see Nico and Nero smile when the other isn’t looking – they have fun dragging each other like that). Or you see Nero and V both wrinkle their nose and wave the smoke away when Nico starts smoking in the car, which is just… so lively. So cute. I love it.
