#464 Cilic and Isner shocked to leave no top 10 player in bottom half of mens draw and 4th round has not even started !!!; Nadal struggles but through; Sharapova continues dream return; Pliskov wins after being match pt down; But star of this year's US open has been 18 year old Shapovalov who has reached 4th round in his first US open and more...:-)

<p>Denis Shapovalov is a Canadian teenager who has taken tennis by storm in last 1 month. He started the year at ranking 203. By the time Montreal open started he moved to 143. He shocked Nadal and eventually lost in SF there. That moved his ranking to 69. It was not enough for direct entry to US open. He played through qualifiers. He won all 3. He then shocked Tsonga in straight sets in 2n d round. He now faced ever improving British player Edmund. Edmund won the first set with ease. Shapovalov bounced back to make to set a piece. Edmund movement was severely impacted by neck pain in 3rd which he lost. In fourth, he retied giving Shapovalov a win and entry into 4th round in his first US open. What a story!!. His ranking would definety zoom up post US open.He would now face Carreno Busta. There was more upsets in bottom half of the draw. Argentine 5"7' player gave another shcok by betaing giant Cilic in 4 tough sets. He would face Pouille in 4th round. Winner of this would meet winner if Shapovalov-Carreno in QF. A Zverev had not payed to his potential. But his elder brother shocked big serving Isner to reach 4th round where he would meet Sam Querrey. WIth Isner and Cilic losing, there are no top 10 players left in bottom half of the draw and 4th round has not yet started!!!! Anderson and Lorenzi won with ease to set another 4th round match. Winner of this would meet winner of  Zverev-Sam Querrey match.In top half of the draw, seeds atleast played to their potential. Nadal struggled early again in 3rd round against Mayer. He lost first set in tie breaker and missed loads of break oppurtunities early in 2nd It was similar to his 2nd round match. Once he eventually broe Mayer, it was 1 way traffic He won in 4 sets. Mayer couldnt break Nadal till last set but it was to late. Nadal would meet Dolgopolov in 4th round. Goffin beat Monfils after Frenchman retired in 2nd set. He would meet Russian teenager Rublev who continued his good run by beating Dzumhur in 4 sets. Winner of Goffin-Rublev would meet winner of Nadal-Dolgopolov in QF. Del Potro who has been seeded in a slam after a while beat Bautista in straight sets to setup 4th round match against Thiem. Thiem won 4th round against Mannarino in straight sets. He has found his touch after poor run post French open. Kohlscriber would meet winner of Federer-Lopez in 4th round. WInner of that match would clash with winner of Thiem-Del Potro match. Cant wait for this phase to start. Top half is devils den form here onwards and bottom half looks like a lottery. Other than Sam Querrey nobody has played slam SF in that half.</p>

<p>Sharapova was up against kennin in 3rd round. There was few exchanegs of break early on first set. Kennin even served for the set at 54 but Sharapova upped the game to win 75 62. She would meet Sevastova in 4th round. Winner of that match would meet winner of Stephens vs Goerges match in QF. Sharapova has golden chance to reach Sf here. She could meet Muguruza or Venus in SF. Venus beat Sakkari to reach 4th round where she would meet Suarez. WInner of that match would meet winner of Muguruza vs Kvitova match in QF. Muguruza vs Kvitova should be a cracker of a match. Both seem to be in good form. Pliskova was up a break in both first and 2nd set but eventually she was down a set and Zhang was serving for the match nad even ha dmatch point at 54 in 2nd set. Pliskova broke Zhang back and won in 3. This should give her ample confidence. She would meet Brady in 4th round. Winner of that match would meet  winner of Safarova vs Vandeweghe match in QF. Pliskova has easy march towards SF. But she has been far from her best. More you look at it, it looks like winner of this slam will come from bottom half of the draw where there is Venus, Muguruza and Sharapova</p>
