Squid Game was such a good show, I’d want more of it too. Yet, despite this yearn for more, I wouldn’t want a second season of this show. The thing I love most about Korean dramas is that the norm is only to have one season. It’s rather the exception to have continuations. That means that stories are written with the end in mind, and I truly believe that this makes the writing much better. I find that American shows try to drag off storylines far too long and it often starts with a bang and ends with a fizzle.

Yeah but you must have read about what happened. How did you feel overall about him did you think they could have done better with his writing? Like I wish they took time with DM thinking through her feelings after truth came out. His self esteem issue could have been resolved earlier considering the time skip. If he still had it one sentence from DM couldn't solve it so fast though it would help. It annoys me how others expected him to be perfect though🙄 Like yeah he's flawed would be boring otherwise (Also yeah he's totally one of the best regardless)

Omg do not get me started on the nonsense I saw about him and the show overall - which was another reason I peaced out until the end

But yea I expected more reflection from Dal Mi, and like I personally don’t like time skips that much because it’s just “oh look now they’re more mature haha and they had development off-screen” but also what you said is so true… I think having Do San deal with his low self-esteem outside of his relationship with Dal Mi would’ve been better, like be more confident in yourself bro you basically made it big 😭But also gonna be honest the Start Up writers were so caught up in that stupid love angle that they didn’t bother doing anything else - even with Dal Mi’s character, and In Jae? All left in the dust for what… JI PYEONG???? and a dry…. ugly…. love angle…..

Also if I speak on the way fandoms treat characters like Do San, like I’ve seen this is in different forms of media too at this point. It’s not that they wanted him to be perfect, but I feel like they just wanted Do San to be Ji Pyeong, like his flaws weren’t that egregious but they made him out to be some master manipulator or some shit like trying to paint him as a terrible person -  and that Ji Pyeong was the better person…

But matter of the fact is  that a majority of the dkrama fandom hasn’t evolved their taste since Heirs was released….. Everyone is obsessed with hot-cold rich boys with a sad past, like do you guys not get bored of that shit?? Like even in book fandoms I’ve been, the obsession with moody rich men with sad pasts is so irritating, that when these people are presented with a character who is none of that they immediately have to find a way to make them a terrible person. Like sorry, some characters can have be both flawed and be genuinely kind all the time 🤷🏽‍♀️

That’s why I really enjoyed Do San as a character, because he was genuinely such a kind person? Like I don’t think I’ve watched a drama with a character like his... He wasn’t rich, he didn’t have a necessarily sad past, but he was such a good dude (also imo also neurodivergent). I mean he did lie to Dal Mi yea, but only because Ji Pyeong asked him to… But other than that, everything “bad” he ever did was to benefit others and not himself, yea he got some flaws, but if I talk about how Ji Pyeong was worse then I’d get anons talking about how their 30 something baby had his reasons lmao

TLDR: People have terrible taste and have yet to mature past the 2010 era of rich moody men so they hate any other character that is presented to them, also Start Up writers fucked it for every character in that show

I think I am going to pull an allnighter tonight, but I am meeting my friend at the mall at noon tomorrow. Maybe I will just go to bed really late? I want to finish Stars Falling From The Sky and start a new Kdrama...
