Day 6. The Hierophant Meaning: Spiritual Wisdom, Religious Beliefs, conformity, tradition, institution Reversed: Personal beliefs, freedom, challenging the status quo Another tricky one for me though I like where I ended up. I plan to come back and keep the general idea but add in more of the traditional symbolism. As I left a lot out. I’m not super familiar or terribly comfortable with Catholic iconography ( just what I remember from art history really) so I may need some more research. Day 2. The Magician Meaning: manifestation, resourcefulness, power Reversed: manipulation, poor planning, untapped talent The magician is often shown levitating the suits/elements of the tarot. King of cups as a Barista I kept in the sketch stage as that’s what I did for the other suits. I actually really love this one. Day 26. The Suit of Swords / box cutters & Pocket Knives Meaning: mind & intellect, thoughts, attitudes and beliefs. Swords show balance between intellect and power, and can be used for good or evil. Swords are associated with air, air is intangible but can be felt. And can be soft or fierce, powerful yet refreshing. Masculine can lead by force and stay unseen. As a Libra swords are my suit. I thought of what we would be using instead or finding around to use as sword and was thinking of box cutters and pocket knifes. I don’t know if I agree with the unseen force being more masculine as I feel it speaks to the power woman often have to employ...but that may be a thought for another day. Day 25. The Suit of Cups/ water bottles Meaning: emotion, love, feeelings, relationships. Associated with element of water. Water can be Gentle or dangerous. Water represents feelings, intuition, healing, & cleansing. It is feminine and reflects woman’s subtle power. This one was a lot of fun and I’m glad the transparency worked. Day 23. The Suit of Wands/ Lighter Meaning: fire, primal energy, spirituality, ambition, fire can create or destroy. Fire is also passion and sexuality and can be big dick energy. Day 22. The World Meaning: completion, integration, accomplishment, travel Reversed: seeking personal closure, short-cuts, delays Last of the major Arcana and the one that I had the most issue with. Day 21. Judgement Meaning: Judgement, rebirth, inner calling, absolution Reversed: self-doubt, inner critic, ignoring the call I went with an angel with many eyes. I love the descriptions of the classes of angels and demons. Early Christins and Jewish writings had some wild descriptions of angels and its sad they have fallen off chubby babies have their place but four heads and wheels with eyes are so much more compelling. I think the “many eyed ones” are the Ophanim? But i could be wrong there as I’m feeling lazy. I would also like to give a shout out to Welcome to Nightvalle and all its dark multi eyed angel fan art. I don’t know if I would add the supplicant figures on a redraw... but I may put in mountains/ some kind of background. Remember Judgement is inescapable. Day 20. The Sun Meaning: positivity, fun, warmth, success, vitality Reversed: inner child, feeling down, overly optimistic I’ve always seen the Sun as masculine so maybe this is my punk-ish Apollo. Originally I was going to color the hair but I enjoyed how it looked with the white out. Day 19. The Moon Meaning: illusion, fear, anxiety, subconscious, intuition Reversed: release of fear, repressed emotion, inner confusion My moon is waiting to be lowered on stage. I love vintage burlesque acts and took the opportunity to draw one here. Her inner turmoil could be stage fright as she waits for her cue. Day 18. The Star Meaning: hope, faith, purpose, renewal Reversed: Lack of faith, despair, self- trust, disconnect Like temperance I think I drew the reversed rather than the upright. If I redraw I will try to make it work with her 2nd cup. The 2 containers represent the subconscious & conscious. I would also maybe have a foot outside the tub to mirror the one foot in the water, one foot out. I’ve always loved claw foot tubs so I think I’d keep that. Day 16. The Devil Meaning: shadow self, attachment, addiction, sexuality Reversed: releasing limiting beliefs, exploring dark thoughts, detachment I love this one, but the color made my eyes feel like burning.
