DJBC Tumblr Holiday Throwback - Operation Dreidel Drop/Bexley Menorah Lighting (2018)

Tonight marks the first night of Hanukkah, the 25th night of Kislev in the Jewish calendar. The City of Bexley’s Menorah Lighting will be virtual on Sunday, the fourth night of Hanukkah.  Meanwhile, here are highlights from 2018′s Lighting held in Jeffrey Park, which saw a helicopter make a drop of dreidels during the Menorah Lighting.

DJBC Tumblr Holiday 2020 - Conservatory Aglow (Camera Edition)

For our 3,000th post on DJBC Adventures, we’d thought that we would share highlights from this year’s Conservatory Aglow from the Franklin Park Conservatory (which is allowed under personal use, as I do NOT get compensated for The DJBC Happy Hour, etc.).

Aglow is closed tonight and ALL day tomorrow (along with its daytime counterpart, Holiday Blooms) for Christmas, but is open through January 10.  Reservations can be made at http://www.fpconservatory.org. The Conservatory is Open from 10AM to 4PM (Daytime) and 5PM to 9PM (Evening). The one hour gap is for sanitizing purposes.

DJBC Tumblr Holiday Flashback - Mistletoe Market (2012)

While we can’t get under the Mistletoe this Holiday, here are highlights from Grove City’s Mistletoe Market from 2012.  This street market was an homage to the Streizelmarkt in Dresden, Germany. Held the first Saturday in December normally, the festival caps off with a parade with Santa and the four high school marching bands in the South-Western City School District, and the lighting of the City’s Christmas Tree.

Again, I’ve been trying to catch up on the early Holiday Posts.  The Gahanna Tree Lighting went Virtual back on November 22, posted on the City of Gahanna’s Facebook Page.  Usually, one of the first tree lightings in the Columbus area, the Tree at Creekside Plaza is lit after dusk the Sunday before Thanksgiving, as seen here in 2014.

DJBC Holiday Tumblr 2020 Flashback - Village Lights (2012)

One more Village Lights post for this Sunday, highlights from 2012′s Village Lights, which included a stop inside Bierberg Bakery, a bakery (now closed) that was only open during the holiday season in German Village.  Bierberg Bakery had cakes, rolls, and fruitcakes galore inside their tiny little bakery, tucked in the middle of a residential block.
