I Like This Thing I Wrote In January, 2017
I keep thinking about Big Sean. The most frequent thing I tell others about him is that he used to be in a relationship with Ariana Grande and that they are both tiny with names that mean big.
I think of Big Sean making me cry in the back seat of a car leaving Neptune Beach, Florida. We'd gone to celebrate our lives, to not dying. That was the day we wore shorts to the town and walked the beach and saw women in fur coats at the bar we went to after 'groming. I had given myself to it, the whole town. I bought a shell bracelet and an ashtray with a flamingo on it and a pair of earrings hanging an exact 3 inch circle below my lobes. I'd forgotten to bring earrings, or maybe I'd lost one along the way. The proprietor was impressed with my style and said as much. This is how I passed Spanish in college. This is how I will get the ashtray free bc of a tiny chip on the rim. Later in the restaurant we asked to be seated outside and there were gas heat lamposts rolled out into the back patio. That's how the women were wearing fur. I spat Margarita through a straw at Jonny, who gave me a "this is it" lecture in re: spitting, after having some weeks ago spitting out a beer on him at a house show. Oblige or like, nah. There's an extra branding inside the eyes. There's no feminism in this localism, but still I oblige. Let them take away what doesn't matter to me. I'm alive and obliged. In that car I cried. In that world I died. Here is Florida and here is the car. I roll out a fire tweet or two. I'm reading right now the biography of Aimee Semple McPherson and its coolly casting light on both sides, the spontaneous twitch the right foot could be peptides, could be God. The divide between DJ Mustard and Soul Sampling Kanye. One year turning into another. I thought we could still talk like that, now. Over the radio, telling stories like an incisor. Rotten anyway. I'm going nowhere but beyond. Let me deal with it. Almost everything I've tweeted has used too many characters to include the words "fight me" but know that it's been there the whole time.
This is just about right. I don't even know if I saw all the rooms in my parents house. I am positive I missed the dining room completely. They are they are they are. They are in Florida right now, sending selfies but never ever wide angle shots. Except of course their Detroit selfie, an early entry where they seemed to have never really noticed how the self timer works on a phone camera. Background is 8 Mile. Dad caption is "you only get one shot". I wanna go on a vacation just me and him. How much would it cost to go to Paisley Park? So much more than I am even taking now. The girls too. I'm really not invited on their New York City trip even though I begged to be. Begged. It's the ugliest thing about me, this terrorized televisionized freak out I seem to pull everywhere. Wasn't no accident that I was picked to be in all the acts at the Orlando circus. The family portrait. I'm the Beast. I make it up but do I really. This! Must! Be! Gaslighting!
There's no story from before. Writing is making me not want to to go get the next beer but because I'm thinking it now of course Ill get the next beer.
Talking out loud all the time. Uglier than this room. I've tonight thrown everything on shelves and in boxes and near the bed and further from the bed detritus into one corner. Or five. What's ugly is expecting more. I'm purposefully removing myself from everyone by making my life a joke. But I like it that way. I want to keep getting away with it. I'm in this little attic style room with the eaves, the ghost of the Sargasso Sea. You and me and Jean. I put all this pressure on myself for the dumbest things. Like I'm not going to be able to read ever Jane Austen or the Brontes because it legitimizes all the imitations of them. And what if it's not enough. Burn with it, hiss legends and spend a fortune on nothing. The sound is nice. The plastic nails on the screen. Tip tap click clack ain't nothing ain't nothing at the nothing but yr mind holding you back.

Melisa Young was born January 1, 1980 in Markham, Illinois. She had a hard life growing up in South suburban Chicago due to her parents’ financial circumstances during the 1980s and ’90’s. Kid Sister started rapping in October 2005, becoming an MC at monthly dance parties hosted by DJ duo Flosstradamus (she is the elder sister of one half of the duo, Josh “J2K” Young), which led to being featured in MTV’s My Block that same year. She made URB’s “The Next 1000” cover in April 2007, and was signed to Kanye West’s DJ A-Trak’s label, Fool’s Gold, who released her very first single “Pro Nails”, which features Kanye West. Kid Sister later signed with Downtown Records, who re-released “Pro Nails” to critical acclaim.
Kid Sister’s debut album will be released in the upcoming months. “I think a good deal of folks are going to be surprised with the fact that there’s a bunch of uncooked hip-hop records on there,” according to A-Trak. “It really isn’t all up tempo clubby stuff. I think several people are going to be impressed with her growth too given that when she made a lot of the records that people contain heard by now, she was just starting to rap.” The album will feature work from producers such as Spank Rock’s XXXChange, Trackademicks, Gant-Man, and Diplomats producers Infamous and Develop among others. Kid Sister is also working with Pharrell Williams of The Neptunes and N.E.R.D.

Counting 'em down to the number one greatest rap artist or group of all time. Here at number 8, Brooklyn's rags to riches, Jay Z. ~Hope Elle~💋 Artist Biography by Jason Birchmeier Embodying the rags-to-riches rap dream, Jay-Z pulled himself up by his bootstraps as a youth to eventually become the reigning rapper of New York City and, in turn, a major-label executive following his short-lived retirement from music-making. In the wake of his 1996 debut, Reasonable Doubt, Jay-Z's albums sold millions upon millions with each release, and his endless parade of hits made him omnipresent on urban radio and video television. He retained a strongly devoted fan base and challenged whatever rivals attempted to oust him from atop the rap game, sparring most memorably with Nas. Jay-Z and his Roc-a-Fella associates greatly influenced the industry and established many of the trends that pervaded during the late '90s and early 2000s. He consistently worked with the hottest producers of the day (Clark Kent, DJ Premier, Teddy Riley, Trackmasters, Erick Sermon, Timbaland, Swizz Beatz), and if they weren't hot at the time, they likely would be afterward (the Neptunes, Kanye West, Just Blaze, 9th Wonder). He similarly collaborated with the hottest rappers in the industry, everyone from East Coast contemporaries like the Notorious B.I.G. ("Brooklyn's Finest") and DMX ("Cash, Money, Hoes"), to the best rappers from the South (Ludacris, Missy Elliott) and the West Coast (Snoop Dogg, Too Short). After his self-declared retirement from rapping in 2003, he assumed the presidency of the seminal rap label Def Jam and, as an industry executive, embarked on another phase in his illustrious career....Read more about Jay Z @ www.allmusic.com #jayz #rapartist #businessman #entrepreneur #bosslife #boss #awardwinning #platinum #hiphop #artist #musiclifestyle #influencer #mogul #bosslife #boss
