You'll not be making a makeshift jet company BGA and if you want to have airports and commercial airliners you better stop bothering us about it as a matter of fact you have two out of three airports shut down cuz you won't shut your mouth about not having enough Jets and nobody wants to work, as you insist on finding the customers for your people so you're stupid already. This company is very large it has 1 million parts depots in every area it has two million shops and that means that they repair Jets and most of them are on the airport and that's per area no that's in total and they have about 700,000 airports globally that they own and we are now and we also know that they have about 16 trillion square feet of construction space for their Jets and we're going to add to it not detract. We have a real plan and has substance and we have tons of manpower and people and he and she are in charge but they always run stuff by me and then Olympus and you can see why it's because of you people mostly

Review: dj. Flugvél og Geimskip invites you to let loose and live a little with her unpredictably fun Our Atlantis

It’s safe to say that Iceland is one of the most proactive music-export countries in the world. What the music industry does as a standard worldwide, Iceland does it the other way around; settling their expertise on innovative electronica and experimentation, there’s space for everything, for everyone and conventional rules cease to exist. Art is seen as an expression and unique to its creator.

dj. Flugvél og Geimskip is no exception, and remains firmly true to her origins. Described as electronic horror-music with a space twist, Steinunn Harðardóttir’s solo project translated to English becomes, word by word, Airplane & Spaceship and it’s, needless to say, more than the accurate description to what the Reykjavík-born musician channels in her music. She may be singing about cats in space, alien invasions, world domination and mythological creatures, but the deliberate naiveté and shining joy in her music are, in fact, a basis to understand who she is - the truest incarnation of a DIY artist.

On Our Atlantis, her fourth album, the trademark overabundant quirk-pop remains but, song after song, there’s an element of surprise. From drum‘n’bass inspired beats to samples that could have been extracted from a child’s toy, you name it, all these pointers combined open a gate into a hyperstimulated fantasy world that can be intriguing as well as overwhelmingly fun.

Songs like ‘Elsta lag í heimi’ and ‘Ryðgadi heimurinn’ show how comfortable Steinunn is in her own dreamscape, and among essential keyboards and drum machines compositions, her craft would not be the same without her immense talent for storytelling and an endless imagination to accompany it. While the opening track ‘The Sphinx’ tells the story of the most famous Egyptian mythological creature, she continues her adventure exploring her vision and hammering through imaginary realms and twisting musical conventions around. You can almost consider Our Atlantis as a videogame soundtrack, where each song is the next step towards a final mission.

dj. Flugvél og Geimskip may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but the warmth and honesty Harðardóttir places on each of these songs and highly performative live shows are undeniable. Regardless of which language she chooses to sing in, her message comes across loud and clear and is quite simple - life is not to be taken so seriously. So live a little….and have fun!

The Fortunate Unfortunate Misadventures of Andy Banks

Prologue

My name is Andrew but my friends call me Andy. This is a story about me and the crazy lets be honest misadventure I had last year. You see I am a very special boy I was recently diagnosed with an acute medical condition. This condition is so rare that I am the only known person in the whole world to be diagnosed with it, bummer right? You would think so, but no, its the best thing to have ever happen to me. The acute medical condition I have is called Areomanolopis, say it with me Ero-man-o-po-lis, a mouthful right. 

And it ,my friends, it enables me to fly. 

Anyway I am getting ahead of myself.

I guess I should start my story from the beginning. Problem is there is though there is a lack of clarity to where all this actually begun.

So to put myself at ease I shall start my tale on the day before my tenth birthday party. 

Mom has been planning my party for almost a week now, and everything looked perfect but my mom couldn't help stress about the small things. Like for instance the bakery mess up on the cake, instead of it reading 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANDY' it read 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY MANDY' my mom was furious but luckily Eric, my older brother, had a solution to our tiny problem he licked off the M and the cake was back to the way it was suppose to be, my mom wasn't pleased.

''You didn't even brush your mouth today'' scolded my mom.

Besides that, everything went smooth. That night my mom wanted Eric and I in bed early because early in the morning we had to go pick up my aunt from the airport she flying in from Denmark just for my party; I was excited so I did exactly as my mom said head straight to bed. That night I had dreams about airplanes and spacecrafts I like dreams like that, where I was high up in the sky flying above the clouds.

In the morning I was fresh as baby lettuces the same couldn't be said for Eric his eyes were red and he had major luggage under his eyes. No doubt one of his all night game sessions, Eric always loved games but ever since he got that T.V in his room, his love for games grew even greater always playing games through the a.m. The rest of the morning was uneventful besides breakfast and teasing Eric a bit, nothing happened.

So we were ready for the trip to the airport which is about an hour’s drive away from where we lived. Eric recently got his driver’s licence and his car. Since next year he'd be out of the house and at university he used every excuse to take out the car and drive it. Mom didn't mind because she hated driving, I guess the only reason she had a licence was to take us to school and back. So we got in the car and were headed to the airport.

We got in the car and were headed to the airport. The trip there was uneventful but my brother seemed to enjoy every minute of it. I guess that's what happens when you just got your licence, you enjoy it. Anyway we finally reached the airport.

A huge yawn escaped Eric's lips apparently he had been keeping it in the entire trip to the airport. Maybe driving was his caffeine? He parked the car and we headed to the terminal of arrivals where aunt Maggie was due to come from, I was extremely excited. Aunt Maggie was my dad’s sister and she often reminded me of him. My dad disappeared on one of his routes with his truck, he was a truck driver, the police said that the merchandise he was carry was real expensive stuff. They said he stole the truck and ran away with the loot. Of cause I don't believe any of it, I mean how could I?

Would you believe your dad, your hero would do something like that?

He carried expensive cargo before, why would he after 12 years on the job suddenly steal?

And my aunt Maggie didn't believe that her little brother would be capable of something like that too. That's why I liked her so much she believed in him when no one else did.

Last time I saw her she had told me the funniest story about my dad ever... Apparently when they were kids they... wait there’s Aunt Maggie. Before I could actually say it Eric punched me in the arm and said ''Here she comes..." he suddenly had a look of horror and amusement "What is she wearing!!!" he said with a grin.

Aunt Maggie was wearing a brightly coloured granny dress with all sorts of different colours and shapes mashed up together. To make it worse she wore the most hideous orange church hat!!

This wasn't my aunt, I mean she was my aunt but she didn't dress as stylish as she normally did.

I was about to make a joke about her dress when she finally reached us, but I decided against it seeing how embarrassed she looked.

There were some warm embraces and tearing hellos, before we headed back to Eric's pride and joy. His old red Golf 1. Hmmmmm the red Golf 1, Eric's pride and joy ,for the rest of us who remained immune to the hex that Eric is obviously under, the red Golf 1 was known as the 'shame and horror'.

Luckily enough the red Golf 1 did not catch fire on the ride home Aunt Maggie sat in the back seat in silence. I think she might have been praying either way it couldn’t hurt adding my own prayers we fearful for our life. Mind you the ride to the airport wasn't nearly as long or as dangerous as the ride home this was due to the early morning rush and mostly because of my brother's fatalist driving persona. No exaggeration when he got behind the wheel in rush hour he transformed into to a raging taxi, weaving in and out of traffic narrowly escaping on coming trucks and cars. Sometimes I swear my life is a movie or some kind of story when Eric is around. Or perhaps a quirky short story.

When we did get home Aunt Maggie and I rushed out the dreaded death trap that was my brother 'Pride & Joy'. Thanking the Gods above for our miraculous survival.

In the back yard mom was putting up banners for my birthday party. It is going to be epic mom rented a jumping castle and there was going to be a DJ and all my friends were coming  . Mom said she had a surprise for me, fingers are crossed that it’s a new bike and/or the latest model jet plane kit. Did I mention I really love planes and spaceships. Cannot believe that in just a little over twenty four hours I was going to be ten. The first decade, the big ONE OH, I was EXCITED to say the least.

Aunt Maggie and my mom gave each other huge hugs; mom had tears in her eyes. She finally took a closer look at what Aunt Maggie was wearing Aunt Maggie saw what was mom looking at and before my mom could ask or laughs, possible both. Aunt Maggie quickly came to her own defence and explained that her luggage got lost in transit and that the airline was going to send it to her in due course and that in cape town the clothes she was wearing before got wet in the rain and so an old lady who was sitting next to her gave her some of her dry clothes. Mom smiled and nodded the two of them started to talk.

I went to my room to think. Which I tend to do more often than I should or so my loving mother keeps telling me. I wonder if Natasha will be at the party tomorrow. She is my not so secret crush and as a bonus my baby sitter. I knew I had no chance with her yet there I was in bed thinking of her, Natasha is older than me by six years. I know I hate math too, it means she is sixteen going on seventeen. You’re right she is way out of my league. But a boy can dream can’t he?
