Mystery Box Monday Masterpiece is done. Dixie Belle Paint Company sent me a mystery box that had Antebellum Blue, Colonial Mustared, Mermaid Tail, Plum Crazy, and Moonshine Metallic Caribbean. Along with some Sea Spray for texture on the legs and Wood U Bend flowers on the top. Here is the finished project!!! Of course as always Gator Hide.

5 drawer chest of drawers turned into a luggage dresser using Dixie Belle paint and some hardware from Amazon!

Products Used: Dixie Belle Paints in Drop Cloth, Tide Pool, Black Sands, Chocolate & Manatee Grey MinWax Polycrylic in Clear Matte Handles, luggage clasps, hardware, etc

Step 1: I sanded the dresser all over to take off any old shine/finish. Patched old hardware holes with wood putty and sanded those areas when dried.

Step 2: Cleaned the whole piece with Dixie Belle White Lightening.

Step 3: Applied a primer coat to the entire frame of the dresser to ensure proper adhesion of the paint. I did not prime the drawer fronts since I was able to sand them down to their bare wood.

Step 4: Painted the frame of the dresser in Black Sands Silk and then planned out what each drawer would look like ahead of time.

Step 5: Painted each of the drawers in their base colors - 2 coats of paint each.

Step 6: Used a yard stick, measuring tape and lots of painters tape to create the lines of the luggage.

Step 7: Attached the latches, handles and other embellishments to the drawer fronts based on the plan I had made ahead of time.

Step 8: Seal the whole piece with MinWax Polycrylic in Clear Matte

Step 9: Line the insides of the drawers with a peel and stick wallpaper!

My most favorite flip so far to date! I picked up this antique Dixie dresser from FB Marketplace and found this beautiful Dixie Belle Silk paint in Juniper. I cleaned all the hardware so the brass would shine again, cleaned out the inside and gave the whole piece new life!

This was my great grandmother's steamer trunk. It sat and was passed around until it was finally given to me.

Want to hear a crazy story while refinishing this trunk?! ....When tearing out the old lining I found her name stamped inside. When I replaced the lining with this French newspaper design....the name Blanche is printed on the newspaper!!
