Football & particularly international tournaments are about unity & people coming together, including LGBTQ+ people! To @uefa_official & @euro2020, whilst the rationale you gave for not permitting @dfb_team to light up the Allianz Arena, as they specifically requested it as a protest against Hungary’s treatment of LGBTQ+ people. At the same time this kind of neutrality towards hate is a huge part of the problem as not opposing it allows it to foster. Being LGBTQ+ is not political. The saying is #footballisforeveryone but a lot of the LGBTQ+ community will be asking ‘is it really?’ with the decision to not put the rainbow flag up in lights. If we want the game to be truly inclusive then these things matter. Today was my club, @cactinvictafc ‘s first game in FA affiliated football; as a woman I can’t join them on the pitch but I was so excited to be part of the management team for our debut. As an LGBTQ+ & Ally club this is a big moment and one which we hope will be the start of breaking down some of the stigma queer people face in the game! A change that I am so proud to be part of!!! It was a tough game but a 1-0 gave us a great start to the season!!!
