Our rooster Divayth grew attached to one of his broodmates, but unfortunately that chick turned out to be another rooster.

Currently Divayth runs his flock of 8 hens by himself but still calls and clicks happily to his friend through the fence.

So we got 10 more pullets (hens) currently brooding. Once they're old enough, they'll be added to the main flock and it'll be safe to introduce Divayth's friend back.

Anyways, meet Divayth's bestie, Sotha Silly.

#maliketh is out with the rooster flock now #he may just remain that way for a while #he is bottom of the pecking order at the moment #if he matures into his own I may give him his own flock #i love his breed but he himself doesnt have many good cues for a rooster to have to protect his ladies #he might just always fare better under the rule of Cookie Monster leader of the rooster flock #but divayth and sotha silly are besties #and sotha silly is super sweet calm and friendly #divayth just wants food all day and keeps his women in order #well named #divayth fyr #sotha sil #homesteading #backyard chickens #and for those curious its 8-10 hens per rooster #or roosters start fighting or hurting the hens
