part 1 | tftp masterlist
»»————- ————-««
"So that's how you found him?" Suvi giggled, thinking Jia and Minghao's story was the cutest love story she could've ever heard. "I can't believe it was right when Lilly died -- talk about fate!"
"It was pretty perfect timing," Danbi nodded. "Obviously everyone was really distraught, but Minghao had his mate there for him. I guess he would always tell the pack that she saved his life."
"Yup," Jia laughed softly. "Doesn't let me forget it."
"Hang on," Jooyeon interrupted, staring at Jia intensely. She had even leaned forward as she listened to the blind girl's story because she was so invested, "so what happened with XiuXiu?"
The girls were staying at Hanbin's place with the other mates while all the wolves were hanging out together at some secret werewolf-only speakeasy that Hanbin and his pack went out to from time to time. It wasn't often just the girls got to hang out together, and it was even more rare that they got to spend any time with the girls from Kyung's old pack. But all the boys wanted to get together before Minghao and Junhui's annual trip back to China. And this year, they were taking Jia with them.
The conversation originally began with Ari curiously asking what had happened to the rest of Hanbin's pack. Eunjin had screamed her head off as soon as she was on the property, which of course, startled everyone, so Hanbin had mentioned offhandedly that a lot of their pack had passed away before he went out with the other wolves. Ari being Ari, was curious and didn't know any better to have a filter, but the girls explained most of what happened.
That is, until they got sidetracked. Kyung talked about how Taejin was lured to his death by his mate, and Yeji had jokingly said, "Jia, imagine if Minghao had lured you to your death, huh?"
So that sparked the question of how did Minghao and Jia even meet since it happened in a dream.
"Or June!" Jimin added on.
Jia merely shrugged, "I don't know. I never saw either of them again."
"What?!" the thief whined. "No way! You have to know what happened to at least June!"
"What a shitty ending..." Kyung muttered.
"Do you think I'd see any clues as to where June went?" Jia laughed. "I'm blind."
"I can't believe we're just left on a cliffhanger like that," Seongmi sighed.
"How do you think I feel? It really makes me sad... I hope she's doing well, wherever she is."
"Why would she be the first dream you ever entered, though?" Soomin wondered. "It's so random..."
Rika shrugged, "Sometimes life doesn't give us answers."
"If you're Rinnie," Jimin was watching Kyung whisper translations in Cooper's ear, "it rarely ever does."
-
The boat ride wasn't Jia's favorite. She hadn't been on a boat since she had to flee when she was a child, so she didn't really remember the experience. She realized just how awful being stranded in the middle of the ocean on an unfamiliar vessel with a bunch of strangers was when you couldn't see anything.
Even if she could see, she was sure she would hate it.
"My parents are old," Minghao warned her. "They won't want to go out and explore with us. They're tired pretty often."
"That's okay," she assured him with a smile. "I'm excited to meet them no matter what."
"You think having old parents is bad?" Jun scoffed. "My baby brother looks older than me."
Appearance-wise, Jun and Minghao looked like they were in their 20's. And their bodies technically were. That was around the age that they stopped getting older until they met their mates. Minghao started aging again as soon as he met his mate -- physically, of course. Junhui was still stuck.
But despite their young appearances, they were both over 40 years older than they appeared. So both of their parents were much older than one might expect, and any younger relatives they had appeared to be older than them now.
On the way to Minghao's old house, he explained how he ran away from home as soon as he realized what he was. But he said his parents went out looking for him and wouldn't stop until they found him. He admitted what he was and ran away before either of them could accept him or turn him away. He just wanted to protect them Then he ended up finding Soonyoung, so he went off with him and never looked back.
"I was really close with my cousin, Yaling," he told you. "We were basically like siblings, so I told her to take care of my parents before I left. She tried to convince me to stay, but I knew how dangerous it was."
Jun was the one to convince him to return home half a decade later. Since he went to visit his mom, Minghao would often wonder aloud how his own family was doing, so finally, the older wolf coaxed Minghao into going with him. And that was when he realized his family had been searching for him the whole time.
"They put up missing persons pictures using a couple photos of me from family photo albums," Minghao chuckled at the memory. "It was crazy because it was five years later and I still looked like that."
Looking back, Minghao felt lucky that he reunited with his family so he could watch them grow and get old. It was bittersweet getting to see his parents gray while he stayed the same. He was grateful to still be loved by them so he could experience them getting older, but it hurt that he couldn't age with them.
But then there were happy moments, like watching his relatives that he grew up with -- like Yaling -- get married and have families.
"The Xu family reunion is huge," Junhui stated with a laugh. "Everyone shows up to see Hao."
Just as Jun promised, Minghao's parents' house was full to capacity when the trio arrived. While Jia couldn't see all the people, she could hear the commotion. It was overwhelming, but she put on her warmest smile and let the two wolves help her around as they introduced her to his family.
It was as Minghao was introducing her to his parents and Yaling that his mother was interrupted.
"Jia?" a female voice asked.
Jia's eyes wandered, her head turning toward the noise. She waited to hear something else, but all she heard was soft footsteps getting closer until they stopped in front of her.
"Your eyes look the same," the girl giggled excitedly.
Her head cocked to one side, "I-I'm sorry?"
"Xiuying, what are you talking about?" he asked her.
"I know her," she insisted before looking at Jia again. "Don't you remember?"
Minghao paused while he thought, and then his eyes seemed to brighten, "You two are about the same age. But if she knew you before she moved away... XiuXiu, she's blind now."
Jia's eyes suddenly widened and her entire body seemed to perk up.
"XiuXiu?"
"Jia!" she laughed again before throwing her arms around Jia.
Jia let go of Minghao's arm to hug her back, a smile so big spreading across her face that it made her eyes close.
Minghao looked to Junhui first, both boys sharing confused looks before he turned to Yaling for answers. Somehow, his cousin looked like she knew exactly what was going on and she was shocked.
"Did you know?" Minghao asked her.
"I-- ...I thought Jia was imaginary..." was all she said.
"XiuXiu's dreams were the first I ever entered," Jia explained once the two girls pulled away. "Aside from my dad's, of course. I only ever saw her dreams up until I had to leave home."
"I was wondering where you went!" Xiuying was still laughing -- out of both excitement, joy, and shock.
"XiuXiu cried for days," Yaling nodded. Then she imitated her wailing of, "'Where's Jia! I miss Jia!'"
The rest of the reunion was sweet and happy. Everyone was excited to see Minghao and meet his mate, and the two girls were practically inseparable. But somehow, it seemed to make his parents even more fond of Jia -- although, it was hard to not be fond of her in the first place.
That night, after everyone had gone home and Minghao's family retreated into the own rooms and made sure Jun was settled in the guest room, Minghao and Jia curled up together in Minghao's old room that his family kept for him. And as they were winding down, of course Minghao had to bring up his mate's history with his 'niece'.
"How come you never mentioned XiuXiu?" he asked.
Jia shrugged as she pulled the covers up, "It seemed a little pointless. I obviously wouldn't expect you to know who she was, so why would I mention the random little girl I used to visit?
"Actually, what about you?" she asked with a frown, turning it around on her mate. "How come you never mentioned XiuXiu talking about a Jia?"
He chuckled, "Because Jia isn't an uncommon name, and I never heard about a Jia after Xiuying got older. I figured it really was just an imaginary friend like everyone else. Plus, I only saw her once a year so her Jia never really stuck with me."
"Sure, HaoHao," she chuckled, sliding down the bed until her head touched the pillows.
"You know what that means, right?" Minghao asked as he followed suit.
"Hmm?"
"You've been connected to me for a long time," he giggled. "You've always been made for me."
Jia scoffed as she rolled over to snuggle into Minghao's chest, "I always knew that."
There was a pounding on the wall before the pair heard Junhui call just loud enough for them both to hear, "Could you wait until I fall asleep to be disgustingly cheesy?"

It’s interesting how Joo Ik has chosen friendship over romance even though he really wants both. He told Hyun Kyu that he was out of line for trying to keep him apart from Ji Na and then subsequently came clean to Ji Na and let her know he was bowing out of her personal life. However, both Ji Na and Hyun Kyu still feel Joo Ik’s presence as a barrier to the two of them getting back together. It’s why Hyun Kyu challenges him to a bet and why Ji Na calls him immediately after asking out Hyun Kyu, even though he’s made his choice to leave them be.
Joo Ik is at a major crossroads in his work life and personal life. He’s at the batting cages trying to blow off some steam before making any decisions. He reluctantly agrees to Hyun Kyu’s bet for his car or something else and promptly wins. Hyun Kyu is clearly making allusions to this being a contest over who will date Ji Na but Joo Ik does not take the bait. Instead, he side steps the whole thing and choosing not to make any decisions about what he would like as his prize until a later time. Joo Ik wants no part in a battle over Ji Na’s affections. She’s a grown woman who can make her own choice about who she wants to be with. He may not respect whom she chooses but he respects her right to choose. Accepting the bet was a way to placate his best friend in the moment. When they are back at their apartment, Joo Ik is still troubled over the strain both of them liking the same girl has put on their friendship and offers Hyun Kyu his car as a way to mend it. Joo Ik has money but very few friends and he doesn’t want to lose Hyun Kyu. Unfortunately, this backfires by upsetting Hyun Kyu who declares he will win the car aka win the girl. What Hyun Kyu can’t see is that Joo Ik already took himself out of that race before it really began.
Ji Na calling Joo Ik immediately (like mere steps after she walked out of the cafe) to tell him she agreed to date Hyun Kyu shows they become quite close in their time together. They become texting buddies and have met several times to talk about things other than work since he drove her to find Dong Kyung when she was distraught. Never is that more evident than when they unexpectedly come face to face on the sidewalk in the middle of their call. The shock of seeing each other in this moment makes them both feel vulnerable. It takes them a few seconds to regain their composure. He responds to her news by trying to give her what he assumes she wants which is to end their contract and never see him again for work (since if she dates Hyun Kyu it’s likely that he will occasionally see her in a personal setting). Surprisingly, this was not the point of her phone call. Which begs the question: why did she call to tell him? Instead, she insists that she still wants to work with him and he agrees to do so but with the professional distance of email and text only. But then Ji Na threatens to expose their kiss to Hyun Kyu if he tries to break their contract again. This seems out of left field and generally unwarranted until you realize the massive trust issues she has from Hyun Kyu lying and then ghosting her. Joo Ik responds that she’s free to tell Hyun Kyu the truth anytime. He’s not scared of it. In fact, we’ve seen enough of his directness to know he prefers honesty even if it might sting for a bit. Through the Tak siblings Ji Na is challenged to accept the truth that she actually likes and wants to date Joo Ik.
After a short consideration, Joo Ik makes a decision about his work life by deciding to start his own web novel company. His first recruit is Dong Kyung, who makes it easy on him by calling at the perfect moment: after he’s just secured his funding from his dad. He’s out at the golf course when he gets her call and it would be easy for him to ask her to meet him at a coffee shop. However, he invites Dong Kyung into his home that he’s been hiding from everyone for years. He has a genuine respect and admiration for her work and as a person, and vice versa. However, they’ve never crossed the line into becoming friends until now. He brings her coffee and indulges all her small talk questions until they veer into his love life. Then he quickly changes the subject to actively recruit her. Dong Kyung lets this slide for a moment but then returns to her question: what are his (romantic) plans regarding Ji Na? His stoic silence is part avoidance but it’s also a truth in itself: he doesn’t have plans pursue a romantic relationship with her at this time because she’s choosing to pursue someone else who happens to be his best friend and her ex. I love that he insists he needs Dong Kyung to get better and join his company. He wants Dong Kyung by his side not just a competent ally but as his friend which warms my heart.
What throws all his determination to stay away from Ji Na into question is when she emails him her newest novel which is their origin story pretty much ripped from her diary. After the Tak siblings seal of approval, Ji Na embraced the truth that she’s started to fall for this level-headed, smart, kind, trustworthy guy. Dong Kyung said she admired how brave Ji Na was about pursuing love when she was young. That passionate Ji Na is back, pouring her heart and soul into her writing, and then sending it to the person it’s about looking to see how he will respond. The weight of her twin declarations clearly rest on him as sits alone in his living room: she’s going to date her ex who is his friend and she’s acknowledging she has feelings for him too. These two things could not be more at odds. How can he keep his best friend and pursue the women he’s fallen for? In the end, I think Joo Ik will be able to date Ji Na and, as his ‘prize’ for the bet, will ask Hyun Kyu to continue to be his friend because their relationship is just as important to him.

If gifs exist of that scene in ep 14 when Myul Mang comes back in the middle of the night and Dong Kyung is outside, distraught, and when he realizes why he stops his explanation and just runs to her to assure her he's there and to apologize, I would very much like to see them.
Thank you for your time, I have to go now because I made myself very emotional just thinking about it.

part 8
Overall warning/s: kinkier smut (eg. voyeurism, exhibition, etc.) character death, dark themes
Just how devoted is Jaehyun to you?
prev: Part 7
wc: 4.7k (i know it’s short, but an update is an update 🥺)
“Excuse me, but what is your right to hold my future godchild before me?” Doyoung scoffs, pointedly glaring at Kun, who began to laugh at him. “[Y/N]! How could you?!”
You shake your head and shrugged your shoulders, chuckling to yourself, “I didn’t ask Kun, Jaehyun did. Pick a fight with him, not me. Besides, Kun’s a doctor, not a banker.”
Kun nods, “I’m the obstetrician. Sorry, Doyoung.”
He huffed angrily cutting into the steak he ordered.
The three of you finally found a similar time slot to catch up with each other; spending an early dinner together at a restaurant Doyoung swears by. You were halfway through the main course when Kun teased Doyoung about being able to see and hold your kids before him which inevitably annoyed the latter. You had invited Jaehyun to join, but he told you he didn’t want to intrude as this was a mini reunion between high school friends.
“Oh,” You spoke up, halting their bickering, “I hope you two will be free in a month or so, we’re planning a housewarming party as soon as we move into the new house.”
“As long as it’s on a Sunday.” Doyoung says in between bites, covering his mouth with a fist.
You move your attention to Kun, who offers you an unsure smile.
“Hopefully, I’ll be free. But it’s a little busy in the hospital. I barely go home, to be honest. But don’t worry, I’ll do my best to go.”
“I understand if you really can’t.” You insisted, “But I hope you can.”
Doyoung hums, taking a swig of wine. “So in the end, only [Y/N] is getting married among the three of us.”
Kun takes offense to this, “Why are you implying that I don’t have plans at all? I’m just too busy as of the moment. I’m sure I’ll meet someone in the future. Are you still asexual?”
He narrowed his eyes at him, “Don’t make it sound like it’s a phase, Qian. I can’t help that I don’t feel sexual attraction to anyone.”
“But you had sex with that one girl.”
You gasped, almost spilling your iced tea. You leaned over, hissing at your best friend, “You had what?!”
Doyoung glares at Kun before sighing, “It was a one night stand. She’s a friend of a colleague I met at a birthday party. I’m not specifically attracted to her, but I’m not going to deny my body sexual gratification.”
“Okay, but why did you tell Kun before me?” You were very appalled by this new knowledge, but it bothered you more that he didn’t tell you first.
“I didn’t plan to! We ran into her when we met a bar and this guy,” He gestures to Kun with visible annoyance, “just ‘knew’ we had a past.”
“Seemed like she wanted a round two.” Kun teases and you narrow your eyes at Doyoung.
“Did you go for round two.”
The man in question raises his brows and looks away, choosing to take a lengthy sip of his drink.
“Oh, he did.” You and Kun said in unison, giving each other a knowing look.
“It’s purely physical.” Doyoung defends, practically slamming his wine glass on the table, “Besides, she doesn’t have time for a relationship. She’s a divorce attorney.”
You reached out and put a hand over his wrist, “We’re just teasing, Dons. Do whatever you want. You’re an adult; just, you know, be careful.”
“I am, don’t worry. The last thing I need is to get someone I don’t even love pregnant.” He dismisses the topic, “Speaking of, have the two of you decided on names? More importantly, will you name one after me?”
Retracting your hand away from him, you laugh at his question, “Sorry, Dons, but I don’t think we plan on naming one after you.”
He fakes a hurt expression, “Well, I hope you don’t name them something ridiculous.”
“He wants a daughter named after me, that’s for sure.” You swirl the contents of your glass around, “I was thinking of the same if we had a son, maybe Woojae or something, but I don’t want to dwell on it yet. I have other things to think about.”
The night crawls on; Doyoung pays for the meal and the three of you continue to lounge at the restaurant to finish your respective desserts. It feels nostalgic to be with them; you didn’t think it would ever happen since Kun left for China all of a sudden with no proper goodbye or explanation why. It’s surreal to see both of them matured into men when — what felt like yesterday — they were just scrawny teenage boys. Doyoung had gotten rid of his lisp and got lasik surgery. Kun was more eloquent now with words and confident with himself. You didn’t think you were going to miss being with them until tonight.
“Crap,” Doyoung grumbles after receiving a message, “I have to go. There’s been a hack in our system.”
“Oh, no. Will everything be alright?” You watched him grab his jacket he had draped on the back of the chair and shrug it on.
He nods, although unsurely, “We have amazing computer technicians in the company; I’m sure they’ve handled it well. I just need to make sure everything is okay at the office. I’m sorry about this.”
“Take care, Doyoung, and don’t apologize. It’s not your fault, hopefully everything’s okay.” Kun glances at you, “I should be heading back as well. I have an early morning.”
“Will Mr. Kyung pick you up?” Doyoung asks while pushing his chair back.
You stood up and slung your purse over your shoulder, “No, I was going to call for a cab.”
“Let me drive you home.” Kun offers and Doyoung insists you do so you agreed.
You and Kun see him off before heading over to Kun’s car and you input your address into his GPS; it was only a 10 minute drive even with the traffic. The journey started quietly, almost a little awkward.
“[Y/N].” He clears his throat and you glanced at him, “You know, I’m really glad that you’re happy; that you found someone to care for you.”
“Thanks, Kun…” Something felt a little off with his tone.
“I… had no control of what happened to us back in high school. I was scared when I left; we ended things on a bad note and—”
“Kun, it’s fine. The past is past; why are you telling me this? If you didn’t have control over it, then you don’t have to apologize for anything.” You had to admit there was a little venom in the way you spoke, but Kun didn’t seem to flinch at your tone.
“The past is past…” He repeated, “You’re just going to let things go because it was in the past?”
You frowned at him, not understanding what he wanted to say.
“[Y/N], there’s something you need to know; about why my family suddenly flew back to China.”
“Why? Why do I have to know? You make it sound like it’s my fault.” You honestly didn’t want to talk about this. “And you make it sound like it was a bad thing! You said there were better opportunities for your parents back in China.”
He groans, clearly frustrated, “Yes, they did. Their salary back there couldn’t compare to what they made here.”
“Why can’t we leave it at that? It was all perfect timing back then.”
“It wasn’t perfect timing, [Y/N].” His jaw is clenched, hissing the words out through gritted teeth. “There’s more to it than you think.”
You scoffed, “Okay, fine, so what? It doesn’t change the fact that your parents hated me.”
“My parents—” He swallows, trying to get his bearings, and speaks in a softer tone, “My parents never hated you, [Y/N]. They loved you; especially my dad. He was fond of you because you reminded him of my grandfather.”
“Then why the sudden hostility? Why did they try and stop us from seeing each other? The sudden curfew, the phone bans?”
“My grades dropped a letter and they just wanted me to focus in school! You know I was on scholarship so they were strict about my grades. It was never about separating us!”
“Then that night!” You cried, voice echoing in the small vehicle, “Your mother looked me in the eyes and said these exact words; ‘I don’t want you to date my son.’ Explain that!”
Kun takes a deep breath and exhales slowly. The glaring red brake lights of the cars in front seemed to make the mood worse as he looks at you pensively. “They didn’t want to do that, [Y/N].”
“Kun, please.” You rolled your eyes, “Your parents made it very clear—”
“Will you just listen to me for a sec? Qīn—”
“Shut up!” You screeched, panicking at the nickname you haven’t heard in years. “You don’t have the right to call me that.”
He shakes his head, distraught at the car honking behind him, and he starts to drive again, “I-I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to call you that. It just came out—”
“Pull over.” You heaved; it felt like you can’t breathe, the air was too heavy, and the interior made you feel claustrophobic. “Pull over!” You don’t even recognize your voice as you screamed again.
Kun pulls over at the next opening and you unbuckle your belt, “[Y/N], I’m sorry. I swear, I didn’t mean to upset you… [Y/N], I’m just trying to protect you.”
A curt laugh bubbles from your chest, “From what? If this was about our relationship years ago, you could have protected me then! You’re years too late, Kun.”
Your words cut through him; hurt evident in his eyes as he hopelessly stares back at you.
“And I hate depending on him but,” You sniffed, “I have Jaehyun now. He can protect me and you don’t even know how safe I am with him. So if I’m in danger, I know Jaehyun will do anything in his power to protect me.”
His face doesn’t give anymore emotions as he unlocks the door and you start to leave until he speaks up again, “From who.”
You look back at him, confused.
Kun doesn’t meet your gaze, just staring forward, “I’m not protecting you from something. I’m protecting you from someone. Or at least I tried to.”
“Thanks, but…” You paused, seeing the slightest movement from his brows, “Jaehyun can handle it.”
He doesn’t say anything else and you get out of his car, waiting for him to pull back into the traffic and watch him drive away. You looked around, you were just a block away from your apartment so you began to walk towards it.
You’re willing yourself not to dwell on what happened in the car ride, but you couldn’t help repeating Kun’s voice when he accidentally called you by the pet name he used for you. You don’t know why you reacted that way when you heard it again. It gave you an overwhelming sense of nostalgia, but the way he said it bothered you; he sounded desperate.
You arrive home and the second you step inside, you lock the door and cautiously peered through the peephole. There was no one there and you didn’t feel like anyone was following you, so why did you even check?
Tea, you think. Tea will help you calm your nerves. As you scurry off into the kitchen after removing your shoes, tossing your purse onto the counter, you stare at the kettle.
Qin
Tea won’t make you forget.
Jaehyun came home at 9PM, tugging off the knot of his tie loose and debating on calling out for you; unsure if you’re busy or asleep. He was about to make a bee-line towards the bedroom to check on you, but skids to a stop when he notices your body slumped over the coffee table. His blood ran cold, dropping his things onto the ground and running towards you.
The thud of his items jolts you awake, whipping your head to the source of the sound and gasping in fear when your blurry vision sees a dark mass coming at you with arms raised forward. You try to move away, but your drunken limbs wouldn’t cooperate. You hear your name in a panic tone and you visibly relax when you recognize Jaehyun’s voice; your vision finally focusing on his worried expression as he knelt in front of you.
It was only then did Jaehyun realize the empty vodka bottle by the table and the shot glass laying on its side by your legs. He looks back at you, “What’s wrong?”
You threw yourself at him, wrapping your arms around his shoulders and using his scent to calm yourself down. You felt like crying, but tears won’t come out.
“Hey,” He ran his hand over your back repeatedly and kissed the side of your head, “Hey, it’s okay. I’m here. It’s alright.”
That was all you needed to hear; the anxiety left your mind and the jitters stopped. Whatever Kun was talking about, you didn’t have to worry about it as long as you were with Jaehyun.
He feels your body relax and he pulls away a bit to see you passed out. He sighs, pulling you back close to him and kissing your forehead, rocking your bodies to a silent rhythm. He doesn’t know what’s wrong, but he’s not going to wait for you to wake up and tell him about it. Once Jaehyun carried you to the bed and gingerly stripped your clothes off, he took off your makeup and tossed the wipes into the trash bin. He pulls the sheets up to your chin and gives you one last kiss on the cheek before retrieving his phone from where he dropped it earlier.
He presses a number on the speed dial and walks to the window, peering down at the night life of the city.
“Sir.”
“What happened before she got home?”
“Everything seems good so far. Kyungwon mentioned how the pull-out kotatsu is working well?” You look around the empty space of Yuta’s apartment, already visualizing how to design and decorate it.
Yuta casually nods, “Yes, I’m quite impressed by her design, really. It’s quite convenient for the heater to turn on automatically after a certain length.”
“The tatami mats will be delivered tomorrow morning and installation will be done by the end of the week. Regarding the bathtub—”
“The ofuro.” He interjects and you repeat after him.
“The ofuro, yes, there’s a delay in shipping it. The company said it might take another week.”
Yuta shrugs, “If it can’t be helped. I don’t mind the wait.”
You look over the apartment once more, “Well, aside from that, after everything that needs to be installed is in place, we can begin putting furniture and decorating it the way you like it.”
The sun is setting outside and Yuta’s apartment has an amazing view of it; you check your watch for the time and hope you won’t get caught in the rush hour.
“Great!” He cheers, “Finally, a place I can call home. Although, I’ll miss room service.”
This makes you laugh, “Can’t cook?”
“I can if I have to, but I don’t have the time or luxury to do so with all the work I have. I’ve already hired the hotel chef to come by every other day to make something for me, you know, something I can easily reheat or throw all together.” He pauses, “Does Jaehyun cook? Or do you?”
“We both do. We take turns. But we have days when we live off on take-outs and deliveries.”
Yuta’s phone rings and he fishes it out of his pocket, lightheartedly scoffing before glancing at you. “Speak of the devil. Hello— hey, calm down man.”
You watch his expression grow concerned and confused as he looks at you.
“She’s here and she’s fine. I don’t know. I haven’t seen her take out her phone the whole time.”
Your phone? You spin around and dashed to your handbag on the counter, dissecting it for the said item but found it to be missing. You wonder out loud about its whereabouts, wracking your brain to remember where you last used it.
“[Y/N].” Yuta calls out to you and you turn to see him hand his phone out to you.
You take it from him, putting it over your ear, “Jaehyun?”
“Are you okay? Where’s your phone?”
“I— I don’t know. I must have misplaced it.” You licked your lips. He sounds so frantic. “I probably left it at the house by accident. I dropped by earlier since they started with remodeling and I remember using it last there.”
“Okay… okay. I’ll go look for it. Can you give the phone back to Yuta?”
“Jaehyun, what’s happening?”
“I’ll tell you later. I need you to go home right now.”
You hand the phone back to Yuta and with the look on your face, he puts the call on loudspeaker.
“Jaehyun?” He clears his throat.
“Yuta, I need you to take [Y/N] home. Please.”
“Yeah, of course. I’ll take her now…” You move back to where your bag is, zipping it back up to get ready to leave. “Is everything okay? I know it’s not exactly my business, but I’d like to know why I have to escort her home.”
The line was silent for a moment; eerie enough for you to peek over your shoulder just before Jaehyun finally replies.
“There was a threat made against her, Yuta. I don’t want to take chances.”
Your blood ran cold. Was this from the person Kun warned you about? But that can’t be, right? This person should have been from years ago. Did they find you again because of your engagement with Jaehyun?
You felt a hand on your shoulder and you gasped, backing away so quickly, you hit your hip on the edge of the counter. You winced in pain, but brought back to your senses and looked up at Yuta with wide eyes.
“I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have touched you. You’re obviously distraught.” He says, taking a step back.
“No, no, it’s fine. I’m okay. Let’s just go.”
The walk from the apartment, to the elevator, and to Yuta’s car was tense. For you, at least. Yuta kept it cool; walking casually. On the other hand, you followed closely behind him, trying to inconspicuously check your surroundings for shady characters. When you got to his car, he opened the door for you and you quickly got in.
“Relax, [Y/N]. It can very well be just a prank.”
You give it a thought. He has a point. But the fact Kun told you he wanted to protect you from someone a couple of days ago rang at the back of your mind. Maybe you should have told Jaehyun what happened; why you suddenly decided to get drunk in the middle of the week. He didn’t press you for a reason, probably chalking up to it as stress from work.
“Unless,” Yuta interrupts your train of thought, “Jaehyun has enemies? Or you have some stalker?”
“—I don’t!” You vehemently denied, choking on your own spit. You cover it up with a nervous chuckle, “I mean, who would take interest in me?”
“Jaehyun took interest in you.” Yuta hums, tapping his fingers on the steering wheel. “But in our business, we’re bound to make enemies without even knowing it.”
“You think Jaehyun pissed someone off?”
He doesn’t answer immediately, focusing on driving for a few minutes and checking the rear view mirror. “There’s a lot of greedy men out there, [Y/N]. Plenty of them are petty, too.”
It was completely dark out by the time you reached your apartment. When he escorted you all the way up to your room, you asked him to stay until Jaehyun returned. He seemed to hesitate, but relented once he noticed just how scared you were.
“Would you like anything to drink? Tea? Coffee?” Your eyes shift to the wine cooler, “Vodka?”
Yuta looks at you incredulously, “I don’t think this is the right time to drink alcohol, [Y/N]. If anything, I think I should be preparing you some tea.”
“No, no, I’ll make it myself. Please, make yourself comfortable.” You grabbed the kettle and filled it up with water. “What kind would you like?”
“Hmm? Anything is fine.”
His voice sounded like he wasn’t seated at the counter nor the living room. Once you turned the stove on, you walked out into the hallway to find him looking at the photos on the wall. It almost freaked you out, until you saw him smiling at the photos — almost innocently at them.
He realizes your presence and stutters out an apology. “Sorry, I just really admire your relationship. It makes me wish I had someone to protect and care for. You must feel pretty lucky to have someone like him… someone who’d go out of their way to protect you.”
“There’s no one more I’d trust my life with.” You chuckled, showing off your engagement ring. “I just wish he’d—”
You stopped yourself, hoping he didn’t catch it, but he curiously peeks at you over his shoulder and you inwardly curse yourself as you try to rephrase what you were about to say.
“He’s just…” There’s no way to sugarcoat what you wanted to say. “He’s overprotective. And I appreciate it, I really do. It’s just… he doesn’t have to go out of his way to do so.”
Yuta laughs, “He’s a billionaire, [Y/N], what exactly does ‘out of his way’ mean?”
“I mean, he doesn’t have to overdo it.” You sighed, realizing a split second later that he could interpret your words wrongly. You open your mouth to correct yourself, but he beats you to it.
“Overdo it?” He repeats, “Like…”
The kettle begins to whistle and you quickly excuse yourself to prepare the tea. When you turn the stove off, you hear the front door open and Jaehyun’s voice calling out to both you and Yuta. You hear Yuta greet him and tell him that you’re preparing tea just as you round the corner and almost collide face first into Jaehyun’s chest.
“[Y/N]!” He grabs your shoulders and hugs you.
“Jaehyun, what’s happening?” You pushed him away, feeling a little shy since Yuta was there.
He lets out a heavy breath, “I received a note while I was at the office. It questioned your safety.”
“What does that mean? What did the note say exactly?”
“Is she safe?” Jaehyun clears his throat, “And it had a picture of you, Doyoung, and Kun from that night you three met up for dinner.”
Your fingers began to shake uncontrollably, Kun’s warning flooding back into your mind. “...From who?”
The look of regret on your fiance’s face tells you he hasn’t found out yet who sent the photo, “I don’t know. The note was slipped into the receptionist desk somehow.”
“Mina doesn’t remember where it came from or who handed it to her?’
“Mina hasn’t come into work for two days now. The temporary secretary there is overwhelmed with the work that piled up for her, so I can’t blame her if she doesn’t remember who or where the note came from.”
“Security cameras?” Yuta pipes up, but Jaehyun shakes his head. “I was told my people have already installed it.”
“The cameras were set up, but there was a system error on our end. There’s no footage.”
You walk off towards the windows and cross your arms, overwhelmed with the urge to vomit. Jaehyun calls for you and you shrugged your shoulders, “Maybe it’s just a prank? That’s possible, right?”
“Yes, it is.” Jaehyun pauses, slowly nodding his head, “But I don’t want to take chances, [Y/N], not when it concerns you.”
“Would you have any idea who would be behind this, Jaehyun?”
He looks at Yuta and frowns, “Not a single clue.”
You pulled your bottom lip between your teeth; you should tell him about what Kun told you.
“Jaehyun, [Y/N], if you need anything, I’ll gladly help. I can have my team set up surveillance cameras here — free of charge. You can even have the feed be sent straight to your phones.”
“My phone.” You gasped, remembering it was missing. Before you could panic, Jaehyun fishes it out of his pocket and holds it out to you.
“It was at the house.”
Checking the notifications, there were nearly a hundred missed calls from both him and Doyoung. You peer up at him while calling Doyoung. “You told Doyoung?”
“Of course. I thought he would know something.”
“[Y/N]?! Where the fuck—”
“I’m fine! I’m safe! I just left my phone at the house this morning and didn’t notice! I’m sorry for making you worry.” You continue to calm your best friend down, promising to be careful and such. By the time you are done with the call, Yuta announces he should head back to his hotel.
“I should get going. Take care, you two.”
You walk back to them, “Oh, please stay for dinner. As a thanks for bringing me back home and even waiting for Jaehyun with me.”
He smiles, “Maybe some other day? I’m expecting a conference call with my family later and I wouldn’t want you guys to hear a bunch of angry Japanese.”
“Oh,” You purse your lips, “Okay. Some other day then?
“Yuta, thank you again for bringing her home and waiting with her. It really put my mind at ease to know she’s not alone.” Jaehyun puts an arm around you and you lean into him.
“Don’t mention it, Jaehyun, so tell me if I could be of any help, I’ll gladly do so.”
You both see Yuta off, waiting for him to enter the elevator and waving one last time before closing the door and locking it for the night. You turn to Jaehyun, who immediately reacts to your touch.
“Don’t worry,” He whispers, “You’ll be okay, baby. I’ll take care of it.”
“I know. I know you will.” You tug at his arms and he leans down to kiss you, letting your lips mold against each other. When he pulls away, you lick your lips, “I’m going to make tea. Would you like some?”
“I’m good. I’ll finish up some work. Get some sleep after, okay? I’ll be with you as soon as I’m done.”
You watch him walk off towards his home office and you make your way back to the stove to reheat the kettle. Your eye catches the photo Yuta was looking at; it was your graduation photo with him, both of you dressed in the dark gown and proudly clutching onto your diplomas, but had noticeably harder grips on each other. Everything seemed simpler back then with nothing to worry about other than school, rent, and what to eat daily.
Why didn’t you tell him about what Kun told you?
No, why couldn’t you tell him?
You look back to where he disappeared into; now determined to solve this on your own.
Inside his home office, Jaehyun carefully closes the blinds of the little window on the door and pulls out the note he had received earlier.
He didn’t want to lie to you. Especially not about something like this. It still involved you, however the safety being compromised wasn’t just yours.
He opens the crumpled note back up, rereading the 3 words over and over again. His gaze moves to the photo it came with. It really was of you, Doyoung, and Kun.
It just wasn’t from a couple days ago; nor was it a couple of weeks either. Anyone could tell with one look how far back it was. You were standing in a music store, watching Doyoung pick an album from the stand in front of you, beside you stood Kun, just barely recognizable and the only telltale sign was the beauty mark on his brow. What stood out the most was that all three of you wore your high school uniforms.
Jaehyun crumples it up, angrily closing his fist around the photo. He brings the note back up and clicks his tongue.
Does she know?
a/n: an update since quarantine sucks. this chapter is a lot shorter only because i’m still not in right headspace to write, but i’ve been working on something devoted-related (not a fic or anything written) and it’s getting me back into writing again.

also from that episode, Hawkeye immediately knowing he and Kyung are kidding themselves and won't keep in touch and he has to let her go, this man's abandonment issues make me distraught
there are sentences he says to her in that episode that he literally repeats to BJ in the finale. “We’re never gonna see each other again.” And the whole “we’ll write a few letters” vs “oh one year we’ll have dinner?”.........I’m so sad just thinking about it

Year : 2019 | Country : KR | Nb of episodes: 16
My rate: 6/10
Synopsis :
Thirtysomething tech whiz Bae Ta Mi (Im Soo Jung) is flying high as the director of a search engine platform named Unicon.
Bae Ta Mi believes she is singularly focused on making Unicon the country’s biggest IT success story… but her world is turned upside down when after a court hearing, she unexpectedly finds herself without a job thanks largely to the scheming of her former mentor Song Ga Kyung (Jeon Hye Jin).
In her distraught state, she then meets Park Mo Geon (Jang Ki Yong), a maker of music for video games – a man who clearly has feelings for her.
Bae Ta Mi decides to take revenge on Song Ga Kyung by joining Unicon’s biggest rival, Baro, where she must collaborate with the ever-contrary director Cha Hyun (Lee Da Hee) – who also happens to be an expert in judo.
Will revenge be sweet for Bae Ta Mi? And can she successfully balance a budding romance with her busy working life?
Main cast :
Im Soo-jung as Bae Ta-mi (Tammy)
Lee Da-hee as Cha Hyeon (Scarlett)
Jeon Hye-jin as Song Ga-kyeong
Jang Ki-yong as Park Morgan
Lee Jae-wook as Seol Ji-hwan
Ji Seung-hyun as Oh Jin-woo
My thoughts on this drama :
There are a few points I need to underline for this one: 1) it's a drama where the girls are older (by quite a few years) than their male love interests; 2) It's a super interesting topic; 3) Lee Da Hee is one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen; 4) the ending is perfect!
Now I was not watching it for the romance part, I started it because they sold be a battle between strong women. And they were right! The main women of this show? Wow, badass! Kickass even, for Scarlett... Seriously, I enjoyed it a lot. Since there is still some romance in it, a comment about it: damn Morgan managed to make me blush... What where the writers thinking when they wrote such lines !!!!
A Favorite ?

If you have time for more meta about Red Moon Blue Sun (i love this title), i didn't see much relationship development between the main leads in those last two episodes on the romance front. Is this question abandoned by the writer? Also something that i can't decide : does Ji Heon's change of heart about murdering the children abusers is a result of Woo Kyung's influence or is it his something only connected to his attachment for Ha Na? It was troubling to see him cheer for Red Cry...
Sorry for the slow response. I’m kicking myself for being so slow that the new episodes are about to come out. But hopefully you’ll get to read this under the wire before it becomes irrelevant, lol.
First part first: Romance??
So it’s no secret that I’ve been shipping the hell out of Ji Heon and Woo Kyung for a while now. (Their scene in the pojangmacha was the clincher for me, but my heart was looking for an opening before that, I think.) And I’ll continue to ship them until the end of the show, even without overt encouragement from the writer and director. That’s just how I be.
But I tried to make it clear (to myself if nobody else) that I don’t really expect a relationship between the leads to come to fruition in canon. In part because despite this being an MBC drama it’s got that gritty thriller vibe that OCN usually gives off. The focus of the story is being poured almost entirely into the mystery, with little interest and frankly little space for a romantic subplot.
I did notice that there was very little significant interaction between Ji Heon and Woo Kyung this week (thus the lack of screencaps on my part), and what interaction they had was very plot heavy. I was disappointed not to get a reaction scene from Ji Heon when Woo Kyung was found with Ha Na after being chloroformed by Red Cry. I expected him to be distraught when he realized she was potentially in danger. And don’t get me wrong, his moment of terror when he realized that Woo Kyung was missing before immediately tamping down on his feelings and going into super competent detective mode was great for me. But like…come on. They couldn’t have let him be the one to find her? Maybe a hug? Is that too much to ask? (Maybe I’m the only one obsessing over these things, lol.)
I would be thrilled if they went there, but I don’t think they will. Especially after this week, I feel like they have no intention of developing that love line beyond the realm of subtext.
Second part: Why is our righteous detective taking a dark turn?
I think Ji Heon’s change of heart with regard to the the murder of child abusers is supposed to cause us discomfort, as the question of whether Red Cry might be in some respect justified in what he is doing is central to the drama’s concept and to both Ji Heon and Woo Kyung’s character arcs. And I think Ji Heon’s change of mind is supposed to mirror the audience’s own frustrations and desires. After all, weren’t we angry and disgusted when Ha Na’s dad drive off with her, after all our heroes could do to keep her out of his hands? I can’t say I didn’t somewhat wish Red Cry would do something about him at that moment.
The push and pull between “murder is never justifiable” and “child abusers deserve what’s coming to them” is the key dramatic tension of the drama.
As for what caused Ji Heon to go from his attitude at the beginning of the drama with regard to Ji Hye’s murder and where he is now about Sung Hwan is due to a variety of factors (because this is an expertly crafted narrative, like, omg guys this drama is so well written…). I think his bond with Ha Na is a factor. He feels really personally responsible for and attached to this little girl. And he seems quite struck by that fact.
But, of course, I do think a lot of it has to do with his growing empathy toward Woo Kyung. And yes, this might be a bit of my bias showing, because I like the two of them together. But I think Woo Kyung has a profound affect on Ji Heon as a person. He talks about her constantly, he has a great deal of respect for her opinion. He’s upset when she’s hurting and he hates the idea of disappointing her. In short, I think she’s started rubbing off on him a bit.
And just generally the frustration of the situation, being caught between an impotent legal system and horrible evil people who hurt their kids and get away with it has pushed him to an extreme.
He’s a good dude though. I don’t think he felt good looking at Sung Hwan’s body. At worst I think he felt conflicted. Maybe a little relieved that Ha Na was now out of her father’s reach, but with that relief came a whole host of other worries. Like how is all of this going to affect Ha Na in the longer run, and what other innocent people might get hurt along the way if he can’t catch this guy? Ultimately, I think Ji Heon will end up on the side of law and order.

Apartment 504 — Chapter 3 (Edited)
Summary:
Mark eyed the glass in Jackson’s hand and hesitated. He didn’t know this man. The only time he’d ever talked to him was once when Jackson was intoxicated past the point of coherence, and once after both had returned home at the same time. This man was so loud, so sporadic, so unpredictable, and so unlike anyone Mark would ever want to be around.
But still, after a timid look into Jackson’s hopeful brown eyes, Mark met Jackson’s glass midway, the clink of glass and a shared smile between the two kicking off the start of the night.

i dedicate this chapter to my best friend, madison (tumblr: jaemamba) who motivated me to write this chapter. i want to thank her for pushing me to write to the best of my abilities and for being my amazing, honest editor. love you <3
A few weeks had passed as Jinyoung and Mark grew accustomed to living in their new apartment. Compared to dorm life, apartment life was paradise for Mark; he and Jinyoung now had their own separate bedrooms, a joint bathroom that only the two of them had to share, a living space, and a full kitchen all to themselves. That meant no more awkward encounters with dorm floor residents, no more smelly bathrooms, no more dirty showers, and, above all, no more breeches of privacy. He had space now—space to live, space to think, space to breathe. Additionally, their apartment complex was far enough off campus that they weren’t kept awake at night by rambunctious Greek-life party-goers anymore.
The school-year was fast approaching and Mark was excited to begin his last year of university. The overall college experience had treated him well over the years, despite his crippling social anxiety and his persistent unwillingness to “put himself out there.” Sure, Mark’s introverted tendencies cost him a lot of what was deemed “the true college experience” but he was happy with his time spent here. He had accompanied Jinyoung to a handful of parties, lived in the dorms, stayed up late studying for exams, even stressed over classes like any other college student, but he never quite lived up to the social aspects; he didn’t get involved in any clubs, groups, or organizations on campus like most other students. For Mark to even think about committing to something that depended on frequent meetings made him irrationally anxious, simply from the off-chance that something may someday come up and prevent him from attending whatever it was he was a part of. Not to mention, the uneasiness he felt from the potential of not fitting in with others. He never was one to fit in.
And so, Mark never joined anything. Instead, he lived vicariously through whatever Jinyoung did on campus and in turn, he supported his friend whenever possible. Jinyoung was an active participant in their university’s debate team as well as a periodic member of the on-campus book club, which Jinyoung swore was not nerdy, (but Mark knew the truth). Jinyoung was reserved at times, but very often he was extroverted, willing to meet new people, indulge new experiences, and get involved in campus activities. He was the only reason Mark ever got out of the house to do anything like go to parties, festivals, clubs, etcetera. Without Jinyoung to drag him different places, Mark was a total home-body.
The only other time Mark wasn’t hanging around the house was when he was at work. Despite Mark’s displeasure for human interaction, he found comfort in being around and working with children, which is why he began working at his university’s on-campus daycare center midway through his college career. He grew up with several younger cousins, nieces, and nephews, and always seemed to find a special place in his heart for them. Kids were kind, curious, optimistic, imaginative, hopeful—traits people Mark’s age and older seemed to lack. And while it was obvious that Mark loved kids, it was even more obvious that kids loved Mark. For some inexplicable reason, children flocked to Mark like bees flocked to honey, whether it be at family gatherings or even at his own job. But he didn’t mind it. He felt at ease around children—cherished, safe, accepted.
“Kang Yi-Na!” Mark scolded from across the room, scooping up the crying child at his feet, and sauntering over to the young girl stationed at the play table. She hung her head as Mark approached, fiddling with one of her puzzle pieces to purposefully avoid his gaze. “Yi-Na,” Mark said again, softer this time, and crouched down to her level, holding the sobbing boy against his chest. The child wrapped his chubby little arms around Mark's neck and wailed into his shoulder. “Why aren’t you letting, Kyung-Woo play with you?" Mark inquired. "He just wanted to help you make the puzzle.” Yi-Na pursed her lips but still said nothing, bright eyes cast down to the puzzle pieces in her hand. “Yi-Na,” Mark sing-songed, rubbing Kyung-Woo’s back to soothe his pitiful cries. “I know you can hear me.”
Yi-Na looked up at Mark, cheeks puffed out in a undeniable pout and eyes desperate for understanding. “If Kyung-Woo plays with the puzzle, he’s going to mess it up!” she defended. “He’s too young!"
Mark took a seat beside her while simultaneously holding a clearly distraught Kyung-Woo in his arms. “Well why don’t we try to show him how to play,” Mark suggested with gentle eyes. “He might not understand how to play because he’s never been taught. Here.” Mark grabbed a puzzle piece off the table and handed it to Kyung-Woo whose cries finally began to cease once Mark sat him in his lap and started showing him how to play the game. Mark spent the next ten minutes helping rekindle the relationship between the two playmates, eventually slipping away from the pair and leaving them to their own devices.
Days like this were not uncommon at the day-care center, children crying over being excluded from playing a game, children crying over hurt feelings, children crying over not receiving enough attention… the list goes on. Still, Mark loved his job. Being surrounded by these crazy, creative kids every week warmed his heart and gave him a gratifying sense of responsibility.
The day passed by relatively quick between all the regularly scheduled daycare activities, and before he knew it, all of the children were picked up by closing time. Mark stayed behind for a bit to clean up the children's messes, dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, the lot. A half-hour later he waved goodbye to his boss, promising to see her during his next shift and made his way out the front doors.
Mark exhaled a deep sigh as he settled into his car, resting his head softly against the seat and closing his eyes in exhaustion. He was tempted to call off his evening plans with Jinyoung and spend the rest of the night sitting alone in his room playing video games or catching up on some much-needed sleep, but he and Jinyoung hadn’t been out together in a while, and canceling now would not only upset Jinyoung, but also make Mark feel like a bad friend. So, after another couple moments of contemplation, he grudgingly shoved his keys into the ignition and pulled out of the parking lot.
. . .
The brief journey from Mark's car to the crowded bar had his anxiety spiking and he was again tempted to just call it quits and retreat back to the apartment. And yet he continued to make his way towards the front doors. Upon entering, however, he realized things were even more stress-inducing than he'd imagined. The bar was absolutely roaring with lifecollege students standing around in groups, yelling at their favorite sports teams through television screens, knocking back round after round of shots, and laughing drunkenly at each other. Mark glanced briefly around the crowded room in hopes of finding his roommate already reserving a table for the two of them, but was ultimately disappointed after a quick once-over. He heaved a sighed and approached the bar, shimmying past rowdy college students to settle himself on a stool towards the end of the counter, an empty seat beside him for Jinyoung. The bartender made his way over to Mark and he ordered a drink for himself as well as one for his friend who would surely be turning up soon.
As he waited for Jinyoung to join him, he spun around in his wooden stool, sipping slowly on the edge of his glass as he absorbed the chaotic environment around him—intoxicated jocks goofing off around the pool table, carelessly spilling drinks all over the floor of the bar, hormone-driven couples making out obscenely in corner booths (Get a room, Mark thought), and tipsy college girls dancing to music playing over the loudspeakers. Mark shuddered at the overwhelming atmosphere and turned around to face the counter again, the commotion behind him suddenly becoming a little too much with so little alcohol in his system. He downed the rest of his drink and asked the bartender for another, his eyes falling to the still-full glass he’d ordered earlier for Jinyoung.
Mark pulled his phone out of his back pocket to check the time and found a half-hour old text message from his roommate sitting idly on his screen.
From: Jinyoung
Hey, I’m getting off work later than usual… reschedule drinks for next Friday???
Mark groaned and dropped his forehead onto the bar, a muffled thud causing the alcohol in his glass to tremble. Why couldn’t I have checked my phone before I came in here? Mark groaned. He cursed himself for not checking his messages sooner and his roommate for… well, he didn’t know what he was cursing him for yet, but he was cursing him nonetheless.
“Everything alright?” a soft voice asked. Mark lifted his head from the counter to meet the eyes of a young girl staring back at him. She seemed to be around his age, shorter than him with big, light brown eyes, and long black hair pulled into a loose ponytail. She looked slightly amused, a gentle smirk playing on her thin pink lips.
Mark massaged his forehead tiredly and reached for the glass in front of him. He raised it to his lips and tipped his head back, feeling the slight burn of alcohol gradually making its way down his throat. “Yeah, I’m fine,” he breathed, resting his chin in his palms and staring at the wall of liquor behind the bar.
“You look like you’ve been stood up,” she acknowledged, taking a seat beside Mark and placing her drink on the counter next to his.
He shrugged. “Sort of, I guess.”
“Well, that makes too of us,” she said, downing a quick sip of beer and exhaling an obvious sigh. Mark shifted in his seat awkwardly, unsure of what to say in return. Not only was small-talk not his strong-suit (or any kind of talk, for that matter), but he also wasn't exactly known for his comforting skills, as evidenced by his pithy oh in response to her comment. It seemed to not phase the girl though; she pressed on, only pausing momentarily to ask the bar tender for another drink.
“It’s unfortunate,” she explained gloomily. “I spent all this time getting cleaned up for nothing.” Mark nodded, sending a small, sympathetic smile in her direction to indicate that he was still listening, despite the fact that his heart had started beating faster in his chest as it began dawning on him that this girl was definitely hitting on him now. “You look like you're in the same boat,” she maintained, gesturing to Mark. He glimpsed down at his outfit—a pair of black jeans with rips at the knees, a white tee-shirt, and a red and black plaid flannel. Mark was not typically one to dress for style over comfort and today was no exception, so to him he looked no different than he normally did. But perhaps this girl was seeing something he was missing... or maybe she was just trying to get into his pants. Either way, he nodded curtly and smiled, running a shaky hand through his hair as she proceeded to make casual conversation with him.
The girl finished off her drink and exhaled a satisfied breath before looking to Mark again. “So, what’s her name?” Mark furrowed his eyebrows and tilted his head a little in confusion, not quite understanding the question. She chuckled lightly and clarified, “The girl who stood you up."
Mark’s eyes widened in realization and he cleared his throat awkwardly. “O-oh,” he stammered, feeling his face heat at her words. She had misunderstood. He wasn't stood up by a girl, just his friend. “Uh, well…” He felt the weight of her eyes on him and he suddenly felt an uncomfortable churning in the pit of his stomach. To avoid the question, he swiftly slid his phone out of his back pocket and pretended he was receiving an important phone call, politely excusing himself from the conversation to answer it.
Weaving through tight clusters of students, he managed to push his way into the bathroom, forcing the door shut behind him. Mark stumbled over to the sinks to examine his reflection, hunching over the counter, his strong hands gripping the granite edges. He took note of the pink sprinkled across his cheeks, closing his eyes and willing the blush to disappear for good. He reached for the faucet and splashed a handful of cool water onto his face to ease his nerves.
Why didn't I just go home when I had the chance? Mark thought. I could have avoided all of this—the people, the environment, the girl at the bar, all of it. Why didn't you just tell her your friend stood you up? She wouldn't have asked questions. Why do you always have to get so worked up about everything? He shook his head. Whatever. It doesn't matter. Just go back to the bar, tell her something important came up, pay your tab, and leave.
Mark lifted his head and stared at himself in the mirror again, water droplets sliding down his thin cheeks and chin. He sighed and reached for the towels on top of the counter to dry off his wet face. As he dabbed the water off his cheeks, the bathroom door behind him opened and in entered a familiar blond. They locked eyes in the mirror momentarily, the newcomer doing a double-take before stopping in his tracks and smiling cheerily.
“Fancy seeing you here,” Jackson greeted, stalking over to the counter beside Mark and grabbing another towel for Mark. The brunette nodded in thanks and accepted the gesture, taking a minute to pat down his forehead and brush his messy bangs back into place with his fingertips. Once he was finished cleaning himself up, he met Jackson's gaze in the mirror. His neighbor's head was tilted ever so slightly and his deep brown eyes were squinted in gentle concern.
"Everything okay?" he asked.
Mark's eyes fell to himself in the mirror again, searching his face for any leftover traces of a blush, but to his delight there were none. He brushed a thumb under the corner of his eye to wipe away a drop of water he had missed while drying his face earlier and replied with a quiet, “Yeah, I’m fine.”
“You drunk this early in the night?” Jackson asked, a shadow of a grin appearing on his lips. Mark shook his head in response and closed his eyes, suddenly feeling himself on the brink of a headache as the craziness ensuing just outside the bathroom door billowed through the thin walls. Jackson’s gaze softened a bit at Mark’s odd behavior and he took a seat on the counter. “Are you sure you’re okay? You look a little… out of it,” he said.
Mark leaned back against the bathroom wall and looked up at the ceiling, eyes tracing the simple patterns above his head. “It’s just been a rough day,” he answered softly.
"Care to elaborate?" the blond added, swinging his feet back and forth.
Mark shrugged. “I don't really want to be here. My roommate canceled our plans last minute but I was already here by time I saw his text, work was long and exhausting, and now there’s this girl at the bar who’s hitting on me, but...” He trailed off and shook his head dismissively, his sentence never quite reaching fruition.
“'But' what?” Jackson pushed.
Mark shifted his weight from one foot to the other, crossing his arms tightly over his chest and returning his gaze to the patterns on the ceiling. “'But' nothing. Never mind. It’s not important.”
“'But' you don’t like girls... do you?” Jackson said, as though he had been reading Mark's mind all along. And in that moment Mark had never wanted to be swallowed up more in his entire life (and that's saying something). All the blood in his body instantly rushed to his cheeks and he cursed himself yet again for allowing the things people say and do to have such an effect on him.
“Hey, there's nothing wrong with that,” Jackson assured him, his brown eyes full of compassion.
Mark tightened his fists to force the blush off his face. “How did you even know?”
Jackson chuckled softly. “Well, for one, when cute girls hit on straight guys, straight guys don’t usually hide out in bathrooms." Mark's hands rose to cover his face, embarrassment rendering him speechless because of course, straight men don’t complain about cute girls hitting on them at bars. And at this point, Mark was fairly certain he was destined to die of embarrassment right then, right there. But he was surprised when he felt a light tug on his wrists as they were pulled away from his face. He grudgingly opened his eyes and was met the soft, understanding smile on Jackson's lips. “Not to mention,” he continued, “I’m gay myself so that makes finding my fellow gays extra easy.”
Mark struggled to fend off the small smile forming on his own lips, but Jackson’s grin was far too contagious. He felt his cheeks cool as he met Jackson’s gentle eyes again and he cleared his throat to break the growing silence. Mark shoved his hands into his pockets and started to walk in the direction of the door leading back out to the bar. “Anyway, I'm gonna... go," Mark murmured. "I have to do something about this girl and then I'm... I'm gonna go.” He swallowed hard, already dreading having to turn down the advances of the girl at the bar.
After a quick nod in Jackson's direction and a quiet, see you around, he slipped out of the bathroom, and pushed through the crowd to return to his seat at the bar beside the dark-haired girl from before. She smiled as he returned and took the liberty of ordering the two another round of drinks. Mark sighed silently. He wanted to thank her for the drink, tell her that she was very kind and that she seemed like an all-around great person, but what he needed to tell her was that he did not swing that way. But how would he even start? How was he supposed to work up the guts to tell her that there would never be anything between the two of them because he didn’t like women in that way—he never had and he never would.
Mark’s throat closed up and his anxiety rushed through his veins, paralyzing him, the thought alone of outing himself to this girl, this stranger, making it difficult for him to breathe, the fear of the unknown beginning to eat away at his core. But before Mark could mull it over any longer, he was startled as a pair of strong arms wrapped around his middle.
“Hey, sorry I’m late,” the raspy voice said above the music, and Mark spun around in his seat to find Jackson’s grinning face only a short distance away from his. He winked at Mark and slid a warm hand around his waist, turning to face the girl beside Mark. “Hi there,” he greeted. “Thank you for keeping my boyfriend busy until I got here,” he said appreciatively, his fingers tightening subconsciously on Mark’s hip.
Boyfriend? Did he just call me his boyfriend? Mark’s heart skipped a beat upon hearing those words, his eyes widening in surprise and chest tightening almost on command. A lot had just happened in a short period of time. The warmth of Jackson’s body pressing into Mark's side and the arm enveloping his torso caused Mark's heart to beat rapidly and his stomach to flutter, the dizzying scent of Jackson’s cologne and aftershave making his head spin.
The girl looked between Mark and Jackson as if trying to understand the correlation between Mark, Jackson, and the blond's words. Eventually, a gentle smile formed on her thin lips and she nodded. “It’s not a problem," she replied warmly. "Maybe I'll see you around soon.” She slid past the two, placing a reassuring hand on Mark's shoulder as she passed by and headed to the opposite side of the bar.
Mark exhaled the breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding and sighed in relief as Jackson settled into the seat beside him. The weight and warmth of Jackson's arm retracting itself from Mark’s body caused him to shudder slightly; he grabbed his untouched drink off the bar and began gulping it down in its entirety, the aftereffects of the alcohol leaving his throat burning.
“Woooah,” Jackson laughed, placing a hand on Mark’s shoulder and removing the glass from his hand. “Slow down.” Mark panted in an attempt to catch his breath and soothe the stinging in his throat.
“Why did you do that?” Mark asked sharply, still slightly on edge from the play out of the situation. “You didn’t have to do that.”
“I thought it might help. You looked like you were about to have a mental breakdown when you left the bathroom,” he explained softly.
Mark bit the inside of his cheek, unsure of what to say or how to feel. Should he thank Jackson for helping him? Should he chew him out for not asking if it was okay for him to interfere in the way that he did? He couldn't place exactly what he felt in that moment and it made things difficult for him.
“I’m sorry if I embarrassed you,” Jackson apologized, fiddling with the fingers in his lap. “I probably should have asked if it was okay first.” The blond's brown eyes fled Mark’s in regret, and Mark found it somewhat odd. In his experience, Mark had only witnessed two sides of Jackson: drunk Jackson and confident Jackson. This was certainly new.
A moment passed before Mark shook his head. “It’s okay,” he said, eyes cast down at his lap and fingers drumming lightly on his thighs. "I probably wouldn't have been able to do it myself anyway." Before either of them could say anything else, Mark locked eyes with the bar tender and waved him over to order the two of them drinks. Jackson started to protest but Mark assured him that he wanted to, that he felt like he owed him.
"Thank you," Jackson smiled warmly and proceeded to take a sip out of his glass.
Mark nodded and took a drink from his too. He swallowed hard and hissed a bit, this new drink slightly stronger than his previous ones. “Who did you come here with?” he asked Jackson, spinning in his seat to observe the crowded room.
“Well, I was here with my roommates, but they both left,” he stated nonchalant.
Mark raised an eyebrow. “Are they coming back for you? How are you getting home?”
Jackson raised his drink to his lips and looked at Mark over the rim of his glass. “I was hoping I could catch a ride home with you,” he said.
Surprised by the sudden request, Mark’s drink caught in his throat and he coughed abruptly, covering his mouth with his hand as he sputtered. Once he’d regained his composure, he set his glass back on the counter and cleared his throat. “Uh, y-yeah. That’s fine, I guess.”
“That’s a relief,” Jackson breathed and Mark hid a shy smile into his palms as he rested his face in his hands. Jackson’s bold personality sure made it hard for Mark to say 'no'. He sat contently for a few minutes, staring into his glass and watching the bubbles rise from the bottom to the top. A clap on his left snapped him out of his daze and he turned to see Jackson sat facing him, his hands clutched together in front of his chest as he made a proposition.
“Well,” he started. “Since my friends ditched me and yours never showed up, how about we have our own fun tonight, just you and me?” He scooped up his glass and extended it in Mark’s direction, an eyebrow cocked in curiosity.
Mark eyed the glass in Jackson’s hand and hesitated. He didn’t know this man. The only time he’d ever spoken to him was once when Jackson was intoxicated past the point of coherence and once after both had returned home at the same time. This man was so loud, so impulsive, so unpredictable, and so unlike anyone Mark would normally associate with.
But still, after a timid look into Jackson’s hopeful brown eyes, Mark met Jackson’s drink halfway with his, the clink of glass and a shared smile between the two kicking off the start of the night.

Haru*Hana Vol 42; Chanyeol’s Interview (Part 2)
Question: Aside from the main plot of the story, the script also included a side story about the suicide of " Dreamers" solo lyricist Jaehyun. Jung Kyung Ho, who plays the character of JunOh, band leader of "Dreamers", had been widely blamed and discriminated for the suicide of Jaehyun who had been distraught over not being able to be part of the band. As the plot develops, the truth begins to resurface. Chanyeol has stated that the relationship between Jaehyun and JunOh left the deepest impression on him. Chanyeol: The relationship the two share always makes me feel stuffy. Because i know that in reality, there are people at present, facing the same situation as Jaehyun, which makes the pain worse as i feel for them. So much so that i've actually had a dream depicting the exact same thing, with the exception of the two characters. Question: If you were to place an EXO member inside the scene of filming? Chanyeol: As I'm playing the role of maknae in the drama, there are countless amounts of times where i have to address others as "hyung". Originally, the script did not include that many instances of me requiring to address someone as " hyung". Because i'm the maknae, i've said it so often that it's as though that's the only line there is in the script (laughs). I even made a joke about it to the director, saying that my lines only included the word "hyung" and nothing else. The director himself is also a very interesting individual, there were certain points where it was not my turn to recite my parts, where he would tease me by saying "maybe you could include the word "hyung" in here" (laughs). As such, the instances of me calling "hyung" became greater. Question: If I were to make you choose which was the best scene which involved you saying "hyung", which one would you choose? Chanyeol: This is so hard, ah (laughs). This is obviously something that i cant choose, since there are many scenes of me saying that. I think every one of them (scenes) is the best. Question: If I were to ask you to assign every EXO member to a specific role in the drama <Missing 9>, how would you go about doing so? Chanyeol: If we were the only occupants on the stranded island, the results would probably be beyond the point of salvage and disastrous (laughs). First of all, i would play the role of JunOh; because i'm always the one deciding where to go when we go out usually. Also, since i got the chance to participate in the "Law of Jungle" series, i feel like i have gained enough exposure to be able to lead my fellow team members. I think Sehun would be very much like me as well. Even though he is the maknae, he is able to lead the members well and has a strong sense of loyalty and leadership abilities. Lee Yeol's character would be given to the calm D.O. He would always be the one silently offering moral support to everyone. Lay shall play the role of the naive side of Lee Yeol-ie. Baekhyun would assume the role of manager, Ki Joon. As he would probably be the mood maker of the group. Suho would play the role of Hwang Jae Guk, Xiumin too, he and Jae Guk share similarities with each other. Chen shall take the role of Ra Bong Hee, since they both are similar in terms of the fact that they are courageous individuals, always calm and collected. Kai is always the cheeky one so he would assume the role of Tae Ho Hwang (Jae Guk's secretary). Noone in EXO would fit Taeho's role, since we are all pretty gentle in nature. Taeho has the meanest role in the whole drama in my opinion. (Japanese to Korean translation ©suikahoshi) Translation by Soojung @ fyeah-chanyeol (Please take out with full credits)

((》: a pat on the back)) There. *clears his through* Calm down. Take a deep breath.
“I’m trying to!” Kyung wept, burying her hands into her palms.
While she was thankful that Kaiser was trying to console her, it was definitely a bit more of a struggle to calm down an emotionally distraught Kyung.

…
Yeol
I ran with Bong Hee quite a ways into the woods, feeling the rush of excitement course through my veins, the very thought that my girlfriend might have been right about everything. The adrenaline that flows within my blood, drives me to look, seemingly endless. Alas the closer we got to the light the more that thrill fades, our confidence that anyone was actually out here growing slim. whilst if we actually sat down and discussed the matter beforehand, we might not be in this situation right now. Well...maybe not. we're more act out our thoughts people not speak them out people.
"Its gone." I hear Bong Hee say beside me. I stop with her, panting, out of breath. I look her way when she speaks. "C'mon let's get closer, maybe were not too far behind them." I nodded. "Okay."
The end results of our find was depressing to say the least. our search was nothing. There wasn't even a trace of anyone here. Naturally we should've known they'd run. "I think it was right around here." I look around, declaring. "Let's split up. Scream if you find anyone or if anything happens." She nods, "Okay" Taking one side of the area while I took the other.
Unlike some I didn't want to give up too soon, not when we're so close. Especially not if there was a possiblity that it could be one of our friends or (Y/N). I left her out there by herself with no food or water. I'm pretty sure that nominates me for the worst boyfriend ever.
As I get farther and farther away, I grow worried that our whole intention was for naught, that we ran out in the woods in the middle of the night, probably even get lost, for absolutely nothing.
Just when I was beginning to think the worst, I hear a loud scream, one that sent shivers down my spine, whether it joy or fear, I didn't know nor did I care. I stop altogether, turning on my heels, heading back. I didn't rightly know if it was even Bong Hee, it could be Ji Ah, or even (Y/N), whoever it was I didn't want to take chances of either the three getting hurt.
The closer I got the more I began to recognize the voice as Bong Hee's. she screams for help and I force myself to get to her fast, not even bothered if I stumbled. "Bong Hee!"
My heart was erratic and my lungs were tired but no matter what I couldn't stop. It's when a light comes into sight, that I found out she was okay, especially if Joon Oh was already here. He holds her close. "Hyung!" I greet. "Yeol." I glance back over towards Bong Hee, she's shivering but seems alright. However I ask out of concern despite her looks. "Bong Hee are you alright? What happened?"
She smiles at my concern, thinking of the correct words to describe it. "I stumbled."
"You didn't get hurt right?"
"I didn't, I'm okay." She kept throwing questioning glances at Joon Oh, ones I admit are anything but acquaintance friendly. Although its personally not in my place to judge so I held my tongue. Bong Hee doesn't ask about me and (Y/N), so I won't her and Joon Oh. "You two shouldn't have..." Joon Oh starts, looking between us, letting out a exasperated breath. "Never mind let's just go, its cold."
I tread behind the two on our way back to the shore, slightly disappointed that we couldn't find anyone atop the hill. It was nice to know that at least someone is out there, high chances of more of us- more survivors.
I sighed, its greedy to admit but I was secretly hoping (Y/N) would've been with them, at least then I wouldn't feel so much like shit for leaving her two days without anything. I hope she isn't too mad at me. I can really only pray for her safety. Tomorrow I will try my damnest to search for her, retrace back to where I had left her.
Abruptly I get knocked out of my thoughts when I hear footsteps behind me. Joon Oh and Bong Hee too hear it, and in result we all turn, not expecting to find Ji Ah.
She looks at us scared and in tears. I could tell she was urging to form words but she was too shaken to formally get any out.
Seeing her distraught I run up to her, "Ji Ah" enveloping her in a hug. it wasn't a matter of seconds before I hear Joon Oh and Bong Hee joining behind. Ji Ah falls to the ground. "How did you..." Joon Oh begins but Ji Ah starts crying harder landing her fist to his chest. "Where have you been? Why did you leave me alone?"
Joon Oh cups the side of her head. "Ji Ah, are you hurt?" I try to encourage her to stop crying by rubbing her back, but she seems to focused on Joon Oh to pay attention to what I was saying. not that I minded this was between them.
"How did you manage to survive until now? Have you been here all by yourself? Have you?" Ji Ah shakes her head tears rolling down her dirty cheeks. "No. I was with someone." We all glance up at each other, hope in our eyes that there was indeed more than one survivor then we had originally assumed.
Joon Oh insisted that she show us where the other person was, of where she was staying, or just who they was but she wouldn't talk. I figured she was too in shock too.
...
It's a while walk before Ji Ah finally opens up to us. "I've been staying here ever since the plane crashed. I just happened to stumble upon her. She too was alone." I felt my heart drop. "You make it sound like that's strange?" Bong Hee points out, she shakes her head, "Just come, we're almost there." Ji Ah takes us into a cave of some sort, "She's been anxious, she won't eat anything."
"Can you blame her, who wouldn't in this situation?" Ji Ah hastily looks over towards Joon Oh. "She even tried to kill herself a few days ago."
"Why?"
Ji Ah continues. "She says she wants to die, that it's miserable here." Ji Ah takes us a little more ways down the cave before she stops. Clearly we have reached the end of where she wants to take us. I look over past her, feeling the wave of disappointment wash over me when I notice it wasn't who I was expecting. It wasn't (Y/N). I should've known better, my girlfriend wouldn't ever think of suicide. no matter the circumstances.
Joon Oh crouches down, slowly as not to startle her, placing a gentle hand on her arm. Only then does she look up. she notices all of us standing there, but doesn't once open her mouth to ask us anything, not of why we were there or how we survived. Just nothing. "Are you okay, So hee?"
She is quiet, its Ji Ah that finally breaks the awkward silence between us. "She's not very vocal is she? Don't worry about it too much, Joon Oh she's fine, but getting her to say that is pointless. It took me days before I got her to say anything." Joon Oh sighs at least we weren't alone, I assume is what he's thinking.
There's a pause, eerie and unpleasant before Ji Ah again breaks it. "I almost forgot there's also someone else..."
"Ji Ah, I found more firewood." I look over towards the voice, my heart stopping dead in my chest as I get greeted by no one other than my (Y/N).
The glow in her eyes shone bright the moment she notices me, a gorgeous smile appearing on her pink lips. I watch mildly surprised as she drops the sticks that she was holding just to walk over to me. I furrow my brows as she still has a slight limp from the gash on her side. Luckily by her looks she's feeling better.
My mouth opens as to apologize, to call her name, to just say anything relevant but it was too dry to let out any actual words. Instead she fills in on my behalf, wrapping her arms around my waist. "I'm so relieved you're okay, you had me so worried." There's tears in her frail voice yet none fell. She's the true definition of strong.
I leaned down, pulling her close with my good arm, afraid if I let go she'd be gone again. My voice was hoarse when I spoke. "I'm so sorry, I shouldn't have ever left you, Jagiya." She shakes her head, hugging me tighter, her fingers buried deep in my shirt. "I don't care about that, as long you're here now that's all that should matter."
There's a silence that spreads between the cave, one that was perfect in every way possible. Normally I wouldn't be so rash about revealing our relationship in plain view but right now I could care less. Besides depending on our situation on this island it was bound to be known anyway. These are my close friends, I trust them with my life not to jeopardize our relationship to the public.
When I finally let go of my girlfriend I look over towards the silent survivors, their reactions weren't very responsive but I didn't expect much by them otherwise. Especially not when deep down I knew they known all along.
"I was right" Ji Ah exclaims, placing her hands on her hips. I smile rather pleased. personally I'd prefer they know that way me and (Y/N) don't have to pretend anymore. "Didn't I tell you Joon Oh, that there was something between these two?"
Joon Oh raises a brow yet says nothing to deny her. He is quick to change the subject. "I say we head back to the shore, there we at least have food and water, enough for everyone." "Its' easier for all of us because its so close to the sea, maybe someone will see us." Ji Ah agrees, "Honestly anything is better than here." Me and (Y/N) nod too and when Joon Oh sees that everyone is on board-minus So Hee of course- he declares we leave at dawn. At least by then we can make it there safe and sound.
...
(Y/N)
I lean against the rock behind my back, listening to what Yeol was saying about what happened those two days. Back at the cave we didn't really have much time to discuss, not that it was a big deal or anything, because all that mattered to me was whether he was safe or not by himself. I was so glad Bong Hee and Joon oh found him, they helped him far better than I ever could, they even fixed his arm. I'll have to be sure to thank them later for their hospitality. Truly he's blessed to have such caring friends.
Yeol looks at the other survivors, watching as they talk amongst themselves. I stand stretching my back, hissing as it pulled the healing upon my side. My boyfriend takes notice to my pain. "Let me see, Jagiya." I was reluctant, mainly because I didn't want him to worry any more than he has already, but I also knew if I said no he'll just worry more. So despite all the downfalls I nodded, trudging over to his outstretched arm. He lifts up my ripped shirt, gingerly unwrapping the bandage.
He looks up at me, "It needs to be clean, (Y/N)." I sigh, I knew it did, but it stung really bad the last time I did it. I think he takes concern over my discomfort, whence why he suggests. "I'll do it for you, Jagiya." I didn't protest and allowed him. He smiles, guiding me to the ocean water no far from where we sat. I look down at it, it's not very clean but its honestly all we had at the moment. All our first aid supplies got destroyed along with all our luggage.
I take the bandage that had been wrapped around my waist from my boyfriend, dipping it into the water. I didn't want Yeol to do it because of his broken arm. And he understands that, waiting patiently while I wring out all the dirt and blood to the best of my ability. Once I finished I gave it back, standing back up. My boyfriend stays seated, since he was angled perfectly with my waist anyway.
The very moment the salt water touches my open flesh I moan in agony, listening to Yeol's voice as he whispers soothing apologizes. I use one of my hands to help, holding one edge while Yeol holds the other. I bite my tongue when we tighten it, my silent cries anything but pleasant. I could tell by the fretful look that spreads across my boyfriend's face, that he didn't like it anymore than I did. Unfortunately it had to be done. and when it was I slump down into the sand, slightly lightheaded from the intense pain. "I'll go get you some water, hang on." I nodded, watching his retreat.
With nothing better to do I looked around, seemingly amused by everyone's acts of survival. Bong Hee was cutting fish, Joon Oh on her toes helping in any way possible, preparing. Ji Ah was making something with the thick plants from the woods, however from where I sat it was hard to tell. Lastly So Hee was just pondering over her life. and whether it had meaning, as usual. I really wish there was something I can say to give her motivation to not throw her life away, but no matter what I say won't change how she sees this situation.
My hearing picks up Ji Ah's voice, its faint but I could still make it out. She was telling my boyfriend to be careful. I smile, at least she too was here for him. I furrowed my brows, watching as he struggled, never could I imagine what its like for him. not being able to use his left arm for anything.
"Here Jagiya," I blink getting knocked out of my thoughts, a bottle of water in my view. I smiled, thankful, taking ahold of the water Yeol was offering. I make sure to take small sips, conserving. Whilst every drink I took was like sandpaper. I couldn't tell if it was the water or because I hadn't had anything to drink for seemingly two days.
"Do you feel better, baby?" I nodded lightly, "Much. thank you" Taking the water left over my boyfriend helps me back to the rocky area, pouring the rest of the liquid in another more fuller bottle. Its when he stops all of a sudden, that I grow curious. In habit I follow his gaze, landing on So Hee. She was walking in the water for some reason. "So Hee!" I hear Bong Hee yell after her. "Don't go any farther! its deep" I lightly pull at Yeol's sleeve. "What is she doing?" He shakes his head, "I don't know Jagiya." The farther she'd go the more everyone questions her actions. "Hey!"
"What are you doing?" It was worrisome that she absolutely gave us no mind. "Joon Oh, something is wrong with So Hee." I heard Ji Ah announce. Me and Yeol look at each other, getting on our feet. readying ourselves in case she's thinking about doing something stupid. And by how far away she was getting, knew that's exactly what she was doing. not one of us dare took chances when all we seen was her head. "So Hee!"
"Hey!"
Both Ji Ah and Joon Oh sprint into a run chasing after her before something bad happened. I was about to help too, but Yeol stops me. "It's okay, (Y/N) I'll go, you stay here, I don't want you to get hurt again." i again was going to argue, protest that I wasn't helpless but I knew no matter what I say, wouldn't change anything. My shoulders slump in defeat, sighing, being hurt was not entirely wonderful as people peg it to be. I look up at him., "alright," He was pleased that I obeyed and without hesitation joins the others, not too far behind Ji Ah.
The more I watch them go into the freezing water the more it bugs me that I could be out there assisting rather than standing here doing nothing. Although right when I was about to move, Joon Oh and Bong Hee have already solved the problem, So Hee safely in their grasps. I was glad that she didn't hurt herself, but when I didn't see Yeol and Ji Ah I began to freak out. Without hesitate I run towards the water, frantically looking back and forth for them. Joon Oh glances up at me but he doesn't have time to ask what was wrong because So Hee was squirming too much and if he were to let her go she'd undoubtedly jump right back in the water.
"Hey!" "Let me go!" So Hee screams, her voice laced with tears. She tries to go under again, to swim away but Joon Oh holds her tighter. "Come out of there!" Finally they get a good grip on her and pull her back to the shore. "Let me go!" She thrashes out, kicking and punching. "So Hee! stop this!" Joon Oh pulls her more away from the water. "Just let me go! I want to die!" She pleads "I don't want to live! Why are you stopping me!?" I gasp, saddened, she doesn't even want to try? I glance back to the water, still no sign of my boyfriend or Ji Ah.
"I'm going to kill myself eventually!" I hear So Hee yell.
"My gosh really!?" Joon Oh growls frustrated.
"We're all going to die here anyway! We'll either starve to death or get killed! We're all going to die here! Why won't you listen?!"
"Who is going to kill you?' Joon Oh yells at her, trying to get over her screams. So Hee just whines louder. "Answer me, who is going to kill you? Huh!?"
Bong Hee immediately stands, holding Joon Oh away from So Hee. "Don't yell at her. She's already scared and you're just making it worse."
"Well tell her to stop talking nonsense."
Bong Hee leans down, "So Hee, we're all in this together. we live together, and we die together...no" She shakes her head, "We're never going to die here. We'll get out of here, I'm sure we will, okay?" I hope you're right Bong Hee, I think.
No matter what Bong Hee says there's no getting through to her. "No. I saw it! We're going to die, there's nothing that can save us. you all will kill each other to save yourselves."
"Just what did you see, So Hee?" I look away at the ground, did she see someone kill another person- see one of us kill another survivor to save themselves-before she and Ji Ah found me?'
Before So Hee could answer Yeol finally came up from the water, crying out Joon Oh's name. I hastily look, only to gasp as Ji Ah was bleeding. I hastily run over towards them, helping in an any way possible, Mainly getting her out of that water. Ji Ah walks some, before he legs fall out from beneath her. "Oh my god, what happened?" I ask, "Ji Ah, what happened?" Joon Oh quickly looks up at my boyfriend, eager for some explanation.
Yeol leans down beside her, "I don"t know, I was right behind her and when she didn't come up I went to look for her. I can only guess that she got scratched from a coral reef."
"What, are you okay, Ji Ah?"
"Let me see," Bong Hee pleads.
"It's nothing," Ji Ah was stubborn. i think she didn't want us to worry, but how could we not she was loosing so much blood?
"Let me see! You won't be able to stop the bleeding!" Joon Oh screams at her, scaring us all, Ji Ah most of all..
"Where is your medicine?" Joon Oh questions, I look at him confused. Medicine? Ji Ah looks down, almost ashamed. "Ki Joon gave it to you back on the plane. Where is it?"
"I don't have it. I lost it when the plane crashed." Joon Oh growls, not wanting to hear that.
"Are you sick?" Yeol asks concerned that he heard nothing of the matter. She doesn't have the heart to tell him, I notice though that doesn't stop me from asking. "Are you?" I force.
"Don't look at me like that, guys. I'm not dying."
"Yes you are!" Joon Oh cuts in, "You will if we can't stop the bleeding!" Ji Ah begins to cry, scared at the thought.
"Why did you wear a short skirt anyway? You can't even swim! Ugh why did you even get into the water?" The anger in Joon Oh's voice was full of worry. He must really care for her than I originally thought.
"What are we going to do?" I point out terrified. Joon Oh just lightly touches her leg, and Ji Ah jerks, crying out as even such a little touch can bring so much pain.
"Gosh is there nothing that can stop this?" He looks at Bong Hee, "How should I know? I'm a stylist?" She stutters.
He changes tactics, "(Y/N) help me move her away from the water." I nodded, wrapping her arm around my shoulders.
When we reach the shelter Joon Oh and Bong Hee built we lay her down, Bong Hee quickly wrapping her leg with some thin cloth. it seemed that she had everything under control so I let myself out. there I catch Joon Oh and Yeol talking.
"So? Keep talking."
"When I was little, I got hurt when I went up the mountain with my grandma. It bled pretty bad then, and we were too far from home so she used some kind of grass." Grass? I tilt my head.
"Grass? What kind of grass?"
He shakes his head, "I don't know the name, but I'll know when I see it."
Joon Oh stands, "Do you think that grass is in the forest?"
He pauses. "We should hope so."
Bong Hee suddenly runs up to my side, also catching the conversation. "We should find it. We have to try, for Ji Ah. Get ready. let's go."
"I'm going too," Bong Hee demands, "It's better to look for it together. Let me come with you."
"Wait here." Joon Oh tells him. He takes Bong Hee and walks over to So Hee, who sits quietly aside the fire. I take this opportunity to talk to my boyfriend before his leave.
Yeol opens his mouth but I stop him. "I know, don't worry I'm not going." I glance over at So Hee, watching as Bong Hee an Joon Oh talk to her about something. I bring my attention back to Yeol. "Someone needs to watch her and Ji Ah. So Hee's not stable enough to watch her by herself." My boyfriend smiles, letting out his held back breath. He leans down wrapping his arms around my back, not tight enough to actually be consider a hug however, because of his injured arm but it was alright, his touch was sincere. "I promise it won't be like last time. I won't ever leave you like that again."
I beam, closing my eyes, "Just be careful, okay, there's a storm coming I can feel it." He pulls back, looking me in the eye "Can you feel anything else?" I give him a confused look. Soon enough I nodded, "Everything's normal."
He smiles, "Good, please be careful, okay?"
I lean up on my toes, placing a light kiss upon the corner of his mouth, "I will, now go."
...
Yeol
It's been a good 30 minutes and there has still been no sight of the grass we're looking for. I look around frantically, Joon Oh running up to me with any type of plant he sets his sights upon, even plants that look nothing like I described. "Isn't it this?"
I look "No. It doesn't look anything like that."
"Then what color is it exactly?"
"It's red."
"Which part is red?" Bong Hee asks.
Joon Oh picks up another plant that looks nothing like it. He was letting his eagerness take over his sighting I think. I shake my head "It's higher."
Bong Hee now runs up to me. Again it wasn't it. "It's not that big."
"Does it grow berries?"
"Just how long is it?"
"It's sharp" I point out, keeping forward in case they pick up they same plants.
"It's long and sharp?" Joon Oh questions. He turns "Just what kind of plant is long and sharp?"
"It looks like a saw." I could easily recognize it if I see it but unfortunately we haven't even been close."
Suddenly I feel a rain drop then two and three. We all look up at the sky, the rain was beginning to pick up. (Y/N) hadn't been wrong when she said there was a storm coming. "It's starting to rain. we have to hurry. let's find it and go back."
Bong Hee turns my way. "Yeol, your explanation isn't enough. it'll be faster if you draw it."
Joon Oh gasps. "Yeah, that's a good idea." He quickly makes a spot in the dirt.
I lean down "Okay, look." I begin to draw it how I remember, "These are the leaves."
"leaves?" Bong Hee wonders.
"Yes, the edge of the leaves are serrated like a saw. I'm not sure if it's a fruit or a flower, but it looks sorta like a sea squirt."
"Sea squirt?" Both Joon Oh and Bong Hee say. I glance up, wondering why they were looking at me like that. I ignore them looking back to my drawing, I nod. "Yes." We didn't have time to fool around.
Joon Oh abruptly stops me, pointing at my work with some stick he picked up on the way. "That's not how you spell "sea squirt". I think for a moment, looking back to my spelling. "sea squirt" I sound it out.
"Gosh that's not it. it's spelled the same, like a type of seafood." I look at Joon Oh in disbelief, we can't seriously be having this conversation. at all times. Bong Hee slowly leans over towards him, whimpering. "Its spelled right "sea squirt". she slowly sounds it out for him.
He looks over towards her dumbfounded. "Really?"
"Do you understand?" I yell at him. we're supposed be looking for the plant not arguing on how sea squirt is spelled. It's raining like crazy but Joon Oh doesn't even care because he's too focused on other not important matters. We're wasting time here. "Lets disperse and search."
I continue on without them, looking in all directions in some hope that the plant grows in this forest. however the farther away I got from them the more anxious I got. What if it wasn't here, like I assumed. What if we can't save Ji Ah? I toss that thought out, no I mustn't ever think such ludicrous thoughts.
I look around for Bong Hee and Joon Oh. I must have went pretty far out, I couldn't even hear any source of life from where I was. Hopefully I didn't get too far.
However now that I could concentrate fully I take into consideration that the plants here were higher, that could only mean I'm onto something. I run up closer to the rocky area ahead.
It's when I looked up through the trees that I saw it, the plant that can save Ji Ah. I feel joy swelling up inside me. "Hyung! Bong Hee! Its over here! Its by this rock!" I shout at the top of my lungs, hopefully loud enough for them to hear me. I don't even think twice as I run towards it, "Hurry guys! Hyung!"
I was so close, I could almost grasp them but before I could even register what happened my vision blackens, a sharp pain shooting throughout my entire body. the pain is the last thing I felt before I lose all senses.

Film review of "Tunnel"
“Tunnel” is the third film directed by Kim Seong-hoon, with his second being the inventive “Hard day” which played at Cannes’ Director’s Fortnight in 2014. The film is an adaptation of a novel of the same name by So Jae-Won. Like his previous film, “Tunnel” is a critic of society, this time condemning media rapaciousness and government incompetency, perhaps an influence of the Sewol Ferry Disaster, a tragedy that took place around the same time as the production of the film. For instance the character of the minister, a symbol of government inefficiency in the film, is initially not present in the novel. The film is a box-office hit in South Korea, attracting more than seven million spectators to the cinemas. It also features a star-studded cast, with Ha Jeong-woo, Bae Doona and Oh Dal-su in the principal roles. In order to create the claustrophobic atmosphere, Ha Jeong-woo is filmed in an actual car destroyed by huge rocks, like in an actual tunnel accident. The lights sources are also restricted to those only available in such a situation, such as the headlights of cars and the torch that the character Lee Jung-soo carries. Finally the scenes in the tunnel are mostly shot in close-ups. Ha Jeong-woo plays the average Joe, Lee Jung-soo, a car salesman and the father of a young daughter. On the way home with his daughter’s birthday cake, he enters a tunnel which collapses soon after his entry, trapping him with little but the cake, some bottles of water he previously bought from a petrol station and a mobile phone that miraculously still has signal. Rescue operations led by a dedicated expert Dae-kyung, played by Oh Dal-su, begin under the close scrutiny of the members of the press who are more concerned with coverage of the catastrophe than the survival of the victim. Plans are delayed by inept government officials who are more of talk than action and even foiled by unprofessional tunnel constructors who fail to provide accurate information. Bae Doona plays Jung-soo’s wife, Se-Hyun, who serves as Jung-soo’s main source of mental support through such adverse times. At two hours and seven minutes, the film seems long for its limited setting of a single survivor in a seemingly hopeless situation. And since “Tunnel” goes straight to business – the tunnel collapses in a bare few minutes after the film starts, the plot tends to drag a bit towards the end. Some of the melodramatic sequences, especially a death that happens midway (I try not to give anything away…), remind me too much of mainstream Korean drama and seem unnecessary. Weirdly, the film’s premise closely resembles Billy Wilder’s “Ace in the hole” (1961) although in interviews the director does not seem aware of its predecessor. Maybe because in the face of the Sewol Ferry Disaster, the label of social satire seems more suitable than that of a remake. The talented Bae Doona is impressive in her role as a distraught wife. Although the actress only appears for a short duration each time, she always summons up just the right intensity of emotions for audience to identify and thus empathise with her character. Still the film is overall a clever piece of work. Kim Seong-hoon does a good job alternating between the victim’s sorry plight in the rubble and the real world outside the tunnel with its unsympathetic and nearing inhumane members of the media and government. He also successfully balances a heavy theme with the right dose of humour; the choice of casting the seemingly upbeat Ha Jeong-woo is a good one. With its a-list cast (let us not forget its possible impact on the box-office), unique and exciting genre experience and attentive cinematography, there is really no reason why you should not be catching “Tunnel”.

wei50-blog replied to your post “A Hot Mess – Ye-Sol and Myung-Soo after He tried to tell himself that...”
Poor MS! What a big let down! He had such high hopes that things were good with YS, that they had resolved everything and made a decision! Finally felt like he was where he belonged, so to have YS leave, then know what the punishment was, and have her stay away for three long days? MS knew YS was going to confess, but didn’t expect her to confess so soon, and the consequences following! So afraid that she was going to take it all back, end the mating, not just open it?
He really did think that they could work it out without involving their Alpha. He is so sad right now. He did tell Young-Do earlier that if he coupled with Ye-Sol and it fell apart, he knew it would destroy him ;_;
Not surprised Myung-Soo was in despair. Experiences from his birth and early time in the pack, not having a wolf but being a wolf, the time when other packs refused him when he was sent for help, still not being fully accepted as a teen/ young adult… Ye-Sol’s acceptance was the answer to all of that hurt, and now he doesn’t know what she is thinking or what she is going to do. Myung-Soo does love Ye-Sol, and wanted all that means beyond merely the coupling.
Yep ;__;
So sad when mating mark faded! Scars can carry a lot of meaning for some, both positive and negative ways. For Myung-Soo when Ye-Sol was gone, the scars were the only evidence that what had happened was real. They were something he held onto, became part of his identity, so for them to disappear, it’s like part of himself is gone, and he doesn’t know who he is anymore. Also fear, because when the mark fades, the mating is technically over, and each can choose to move on?
Without the mark or the scar on his chest, Myung-Soo feels like Ye-Sol has no reason to return or even try to work out their mating. He kind of hates it that he has the healing ability right now. It saved his life but it still feels like his heart has been ripped out again. ;___;
Can’t really blame YS though. With her human voice gone for three years of events that she is not aware of, making a decision about MS and coupling with him right after ‘waking up’ was probably not the best thing to do. Even though leaving hurt him, it was still good for her to back off, get situated back into herself, gather information, and figure out her own thoughts, wants, and emotions. Even if YS was not marked, she was still considered mated to MS?
That’s probably the hardest part for Myung-Soo. He may be younger than her but he’s adult enough to recognize that what they did wasn’t the best idea ;____;
Only four people knew about Myung-Soo’s mark: Rachel, Young-Do, Myung-Soo’s and Ye-Sol’s human voice. Part of the importance of mating is that it takes place, for the most part, in front of the pack. Ye-Sol’s wolf was going around insisting that Myung-Soo was her mate but because he never showed anyone the mark and because Rachel and Young-Do weren’t saying anything, these two weren’t really considered to be a couple by the pack.
Ye-Sol wasn’t considered mated to Myung-Soo. Not by their customs or laws but mostly because no one knew about What Happened.
Ye-Sol did the right thing by confessing everything and also showed her respect for pack laws. Hm, her need to be punished, even with all the circumstances surrounding, shows her strong sense of justice. But if she didn’t do what she did, Myung-Soo would have likely died. (was there another way to save his life?) Hard to balance a life with breaking the law.
There was not another, immediate way to save his life. Myung-Soo’s heart had been removed from his body. It was impossible, given the circumstances at the time, to put it back ;_____;
This is why Rachel didn’t immediately punish Ye-Sol. Myung-Soo’s life was precious to so many people that it would be easy to excuse how Ye-Sol did it. Ye-Sol actually needs to be punished for not taking full responsibility for this decision and that’s what her confession to Rachel was about.
Why is punishment to move MS? It does makes sense to separate the two at this point until the turmoil can be sorted out. At the same time, this seems like more a penalty for MS than for YS! Maybe R sensed this is what YS needed? After punishment, MS could have tried to see her, and he didn’t? Maybe respecting YS by giving her the space she needs? Or he was just too hurt and scared to try because YS did leave him after coupling?
This punishment is mostly logistical. Ye-Sol has no other home right now. Myung-Soo can live with his mother and there aren’t many things to move back into his mother’s house.
Rachel understands that if these two are to work out their issues, they need their own space, because they are adults. Moving Myung-Soo into the pack home was about bringing Ye-Sol’s human voice back. It was a completely separate problem in Rachel’s mind from equalizing their relationship.
Myung-Soo’s had enough rejection and it had only been three days ;______;
Both MS and YS can have space now to figure out if this is really what they want, what is right for them, the best way to progress, and if they want to try to continue to pursue a mating. No use in MS trying to lie to YS! Yes, he does have a right to be mad, because YS did make an agreement with him. Not that she broke it, but if they are mated, then she should talk to him, include him in what is going on in her mind, her need to be free from her guilt.
*nodnodnod* ;_______;
Ye-Sol cutting her hair is significant! Even though for her, hardly any time has past, once she realized and processed all that had happened, it is like she is a new person. So much to sort through in just three days! Hope she had good conversations with Rachel and her wolf too! Ye-Sol does know her feelings are special for Myung-Soo because she felt different coupling with him. Haha, now her turn to ask him out for a walk!
She needed her outward appearance to fit her internal turmoil ;________;
It was a hard three days for her and there was a lot to work through. Coming to Myung-Soo, after all the mistakes she’s made, to try and salvage whatever might be left, took a lot of humility >.>
More awesome Second Young-Do in action! Why would shame be the first thing Young-Do said to Myung-Soo? Was he feeling defensive or regret about what happened with Ye-sol? Glad no reason to hide anything anymore, so now they know of his super human abilities! And just realized that no one knows better that his mom what it feels like to lose the one you love! Her words are not trite or condescending, but from her own life experience.
Because he smelled it on Myung-Soo. The poor little puppy was so distraught and freaking out and afraid he was going to get in trouble. I have fun writing pre-divorce Young-Do. He really is a good Second!
And poor Jae-Kyung has lost two people she loved ;__________;

My thoughts on this drama :
This drama had my heart race almost non stop from episode 1 to 16. Lee Joon Ki is glorious in this role. He was still a very young actor then, but already much talented. I liked the fact that they didn't focus too much on the romance and more on the action. Like IRIS.
A Favorite ?
YES
