Latinidad is Cancelled. This catchphrase that’s supposed to encompass a cultural identity that continues to leave those of us, primarily and obviously visibly African and Indigenous descendants, out of the conversation when it comes to Latinidad. Black and Indigenous people are not fully represented. Afro Latinos are not represented. And there are those who believe we should shut the fuck up, we should just sit back and be happy with what we got and the progress that has come to us. Thank god for all the Cimarrones/Maroon who escaped and fought for liberation. Thank god for all the shamans/leaders/cultural workers who made sure to keep their language and culture alive.
