love [/s] when people add negative commentary on resources claiming that a source is bad without providing evidence and then go "sorry to be a downer" especially when the author of a source specifically explains and deploys a methodology that is in stark contrast with the critique lol
#disproving what's conjecture and what's not is beyond the scope of my sharing of a pdf link (lmao) but when an author specifically spells i#out in the preface—with a VERY extensive literature review of writing on queerness in history and how his approach differs and is grounded#very much in the language and context of the seventeenth century—i cannot trace where the modern imposition of understanding of queerness#lies; but i don't need to argue with random people on tumblr so here's my mild complaint LMFAO
