fanart of Disney's Magical Mirror Starring Mickey Mouse for gamecube. or "Yume Mickey" as some people like to call it :)
this was one of the first games I remember having and i think it was a big factor into why i love dreams, surreal things and creepy dreamlike atmospheres and environments. this game literally has a jumpscare in it.
i only got like halfway through it as a kid, but more than a decade later i finally beat it with the best ending :) it's also interesting to me that it was published by nintendo and produced by miyamoto, and it had 4 directors.

Mickey’s Magical Christmas: Snowed In at the House of Mouse ✨❄️🎄
Tumblr media
Another well liked Christmas Special I personally enjoyed. Mickey’s Magical Christmas: Snowed In at the House of Mouse is a charming special for the short-lived but interesting Disney series about Mickey and the gang opening a club house for all of the beloved Disney characters from timeless movie classics ranging from Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, The Lion King and so on.
The movie starts on Christmas Eve where with the gang wrapping up tonight’s entertainment and wished everyone a safe travel home and a Merry Christmas. Unfortunately, it turns out there had been a snowstorm early, snowing everyone inside the clubhouse, much to the dismay and concern of the friends and their guests. But Mickey came up with a swell idea of suggesting everyone can spend their Christmas Eve at the House of Mouse for the time being.
While everyone is happy with the plan, Donald, on the other hand, wasn’t into the holiday spirit for some unexplained reason. In fact, he is such a humbug, he’d even make Ebenezer Scrooge and Grinch much more jolly from beginning to end out together.
Tumblr media
After the club house is most especially decorated for the occasion and everyone breaks out all the hot chocolate and cookies, Mickey and the gang immediately provide some entertainment by showing some home movies and Christmas shorts, most especially some old gems all the while trying to patch up Donald’s tattered Christmas Spirit.
Some of the Christmas special shorts also classic gems including “Pluto and the Christmas Tree”, starring Chip and Dale. The special has some funny and wholesome segments such as Mickey going around town, asking all of the movie characters about what they’d wish to have for Christmas such as Kuzko from The Emperor’s New Groove tearfully begging not to be a llama anymore and Ursula the Sea Witch wanting Mickey’s voice for some weird reason. The segment ends with the Beast’s only wish is for everyone to have a happy Christmas and to find their inner beauty. Awww! How sweet. 🥹🥰
Another segment has Mickey and the gang explaining to Donald what they all have to be thankful for this Christmas. While some characters like the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonder (concerning his obsessions with hats, next to tea) comes off a bit zany, some can be more practical and wholesome such as Cinderella being thankful to have her tiny animal friends from birds to mice being talented and creative to make her beautiful dresses and Eeyore being thankful for joy and the happiness in his heart. It’s also sweet that Minnie’s thankful to have Mickey as the love of her life. 💝
Tumblr media
Despite all of those and after watching the House of Mouse’s take on The Nutcracker with Mickey as the titular character, Minnie as Maria and Donald (of all people) as the Mouse King and narrated by the amazing John Cleese, Donald is still a humbug that he made even Grumpy from Snow White and the Seven Dwarves actually happy while leaving the other six dwarves frowning with disapproval at the duck’s attitude.
Disheartened, Mickey goes outside on the roof of the club house where he is consulted by Jiminy Cricket from Pinocchio, who suggested about wishing on a star. When Mickey makes his wish for everyone, even Donald, to feel the spirit of Christmas, the star magically floats down into his hands, much to the mouse’s awe.
Realising what he needed to do, Mickey goes back inside and asks Donald if he would like to hang the star on the Christmas tree. Touched by the request, Donald happily places the star on the tree and happily wishes everyone in the club house a Merry Christmas, his Christmas spirit lifted, as bright as the very star. The magic of the star also brightened all of the decorations throughout the place, making it just as festive. It also brightened the spirits of even Yen Sid, the Magic Mirror and even Jafar.
With Donald finally getting into the spirit of Christmas, the gang had decided to show Mickey’s Christmas Carol, starring Scrooge McDuck in the role of Ebenezer Scrooge. Ahh, another timeless classic. ☺️
After the short film had ended, everyone, hosts and guests alike, gathered up on stage to sing a heartfelt song titled “The Best Christmas of All”, which happens to be one of my favourite Christmas songs from a Disney movie. It was so sweet and heartwarming to see every single characters from beloved Disney films and shorts gathered together in one place to sing about how the spirit of Christmas is all about friendship, true love, family and all the precious memories they all share throughout the season. It’s also hilarious where some of the villains even Jafar, Captain Hook from Peter Pan and even Hades from Hercules were not above joining in. 🤭
Mickey’s Magical Christmas: Snowed In at the House of Mouse is an amazing Christmas Special that has touched my heart to this day and I do hope for many others who had grew up with Disney as I had over the years can relate and have a soft spot for this film.
As Mickey had told us, the watchers, at the end of the special, Merry Christmas to all of you. 😄

For a while I thought this game was a fever dream but I found it again. Does anyone else remember playing this as a kid and getting scared out of their mind by the mimic chests on the train?

just randomly remembered that this game existed and thinking i would like to make like a homage to it one day, if i ever learn how to make games like i want to eventually. i like the idea of being lost in a mansion where surreal and sometimes scary things happen, evading danger and solving puzzles. it was very much like the closest thing to yume nikki as a kid; took place in a dream, was slow placed, was really creepy most of the time (at least as a kid). the major difference between the two is that this game actually had a jump scare (happens at 1:11:04 if you dont believe me, should be timestamped)

Release: Gekkan Nintendo Tentou Demo 2002 May (DL-DOL-D29J-DIS)
Tumblr media
Download Link
We’re taking a quick break from DemoDemo PlayStation discs to bring you the first of hopefully many Gekkan Nintendo Tentou Demo discs, which, like DemoDemo, were a series of monthly GameCube demo discs that Nintendo sent out to retailers. American readers might be familiar with the Interactive Multi-Game Demo Discs, which essentially served the same function but for North America. These discs are fairly hard to come by, at least at a sane price, so they won’t get dumped with anywhere near as much regularity as the PS1 and PS2 stuff, but given how unknown they generally remain, they’re certainly high on the priority list every time I go shopping for new stuff to dump.
Anyway, this disc has an interesting mishmash of playable demos and videos to watch, with the standout here likely being the demo for Capcom vs. SNK 2 EO. While there’s a ten minute time limit imposed and most of the modes aren’t accessible, so far as I can tell, you can otherwise play with the entire roster on this disc and might even be able to do multiplayer, though I haven’t been able to test this. There’s also a very brief demo for Lost Kingdoms that’s basically a series of tutorial fights and then a quick boss battle; if nothing else, this relatively forgotten demo of a From Software game better teaches you the core mechanics than a lot of other RPG demos, so good on them, I suppose.
For the full breakdown of what you can find on this disc, read on below.

Today we are going to be focusing on Mickey’s Most relevant and popular video game to date....No? Just me? Okay. The Magical Mirror Starring Mickey Mouse! For anyone that was born in the 90′s they might remember this game, or at least seeing it on a used rack at gamestop! Released in 2002 and developed by Capcom for the Nintendo Gamecube The Magical Mirror is a point and Click adventure game starring Mickey Mouse.
So why this game? To be honest no major reason other than it was apart of my childhood and as I recall was a weird Mickey Mouse game with creepy overtones that never got scary but always felt uncanny valleyish/ dream like. The story starts with Mickey falling asleep and being tormented by a ghost that shows him an alternate version of himself behind a mirror. When Mickey goes to investigate he gets sucked into the mirror and stuck in an alternate version of his home where the ghost essentially has domain over everything! The way the game worked was interesting as well. You had to find 12 shards of the broken mirror and collect these 12 “Magic Stars”. The Magic stars would enable you to pull off “gags” which are essentially cut scenes that would open up/solve a puzzle or obstacle in your way.
Tumblr media
Not enough stars? Your gag would fail and you would have to come back to that event when you had enough! It was a weird and convoluted game mechanic but it did make for fun backtracking later on in the game!
As a kid there was something pardon the word magical about being able to walk around Mickey’s semi magic house in search of mirror shards to stop some semi malevolent force keeping you there. Like if Alice in Wonderland and Mickey Mouse had a crossover it just had this weird vibe to it that kept me glued throughout it’s VERY short run time. All in all a relic of the past with very few people who fondly remember it, but I’m happy to be one of those few!
Trivia Time
This game’s opening sequence was partially based on the Mickey Mouse Short “Thru the Mirror”
The game overall was given generally poor reviews due to the lack of instruction and cutscene heavy gameplay.
Famed Disney voice talent Dallas Mckennon played the role of the ghost in this title!
The game had different endings depending on how many shards you got, and if you decided to stay with or leave the ghost at the end!
If by some odd reason you’re still curious into this title give it watch in it’s full walkthrough below! Once again wouldn’t have this game without the Mouse, so Happy 90th Birthday Mickey!

So just now I was digging through random old Disney games I used to watch on YouTube during the early 2010s for some nostalgia. I found something interesting.
Y'know how Twisted Wonderland has low-key an obsession with magical mirrors? Guess what there's literally a game called Disney's Magical Mirror Starring Mickey Mouse . And goodness does the lore of that game sound similar -
And ngl, I really miss these old games, I remember having an obsession over Castle of Illusion it was so cool
