Crossing Off Another Bucket List Item – I’m Off to D23 Expo

Never in my wildest dreams would I ever think I’d be heading to D23 Expo. The amazing invite came last month and I’ve been planning ever since. Unlike other trips I’ve been on in the past, this one is the ultimate Disney fan experience and it happens every other year. I remember watching photos from blogger friends that attended in 2015 and I knew I wanted to attend if I ever got the opportunity. That year the bloggers attending posted #D23ExpoOrBust photos all over Facebook and social media. They were exciting and fun to watch, so of course, we continued it this year.

I pulled together all my black and tried my best to channel Black Panther. I had to do it because I’m super excited about the movie. I was looking for a throne for my photos but ended up just using my surroundings.

I took several shots and tried to narrow down my choices. These are a few others I liked as well. I have a few more outfits planned for the expo that I haven’t shown anyone yet. I’ll be sharing them after the expo.

We have a packed weekend ahead of us learning about all that’s new and coming from Disney. D23 Expo is the ultimate Disney fan event which brings together all the worlds of Disney under one roof for three packed days of presentations, pavilions, experiences, concerts, sneak peeks, shopping and more. The event provides fans with unprecedented access to Disney films, television, music, products, games, theme parks and celebrities!

We’re getting a look at the new Disney XD series DuckTales. My son rediscovered this show a few years ago. We have copies of the old show on DVD. We’ll be joining Disney XD for a special sneak peek of the upcoming animated series “DuckTales,” followed by a Q&A with executive producer Matt Youngberg and co-producer and story editor Francisco Angones, plus the priceless opportunity to dive into the one-and-only Scrooge McDuck’s Money Bin and ‘swim’ away with a professional 180-degree video capture to share with friends.

And you can’t go to D23 Expo and not visit Disneyland. While in town we will also be spending 2 nights at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure park to experience the “Summer of Heroes!”

Disney California Adventure park is officially the destination for adventure, intrigue and triumph as recruits from around the world – like you – join forces with legendary Super Heroes in an ever-expanding universe of stories that will grow even bigger over time including the thrilling, rocking attraction, Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!  

While at the D23 Expo we’ll have a lot of opportunities to explore the convention floor and attend some of the panels. Some of our itinerary include:

Disney Legends Awards Ceremony in Hall D23

Oprah Winfrey, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Stan Lee, Julie Taymor, and other remarkable contributors to the Disney legacy will be honored as official Disney Legends during D23 Expo 2017. Hosted by Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger, the Disney Legends Award ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 14, in Hall D23 of the Anaheim Convention Center, and will include special musical performances. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Disney Legends Awards. The first Disney Legend was Fred MacMurray (The Shaggy Dog, The Absent-Minded Professor, The Happiest Millionaire), who was honored in 1987.
