How does each alter feel about the others in the Snow System? (In current MSQ)
(tw for implications of violence, abuse, csa, all kept quite vague. No spoilers.)
(format: the header alter is the one whose views are being given)
S'ria's Opinions: (29, M)
Fray: It's complicated – S'ria is glad that Fray will protect him and is glad that they'll also protect the rest of his family. Them being ready to tear to shreds anyone that threatens G'raha, Alisaie, or Alphinaud is something that S'ria likes. He just wishes Fray was easier to control and more careful, and doesn't like the gaps in memory even if they're much better now. S'ria hasn't fully reconciled how violent Fray can be when fully unhinged though, there's something uncomfortable about someone seeing “him” act like that.
(Child)S’ria: Adult S'ria is mostly just sad that this one exists – there is some mortification at the idea of people seeing him have a full traumatized young child meltdown or have an unfiltered breakdown, but he can't really be upset at the alter for being so distressed.
Menphina: S'ria relies on her and feels some sort of familial love towards her. He finds her frequent presence comforting, and finds the idea of her hovering near front to be personally non-invasive. He really doesn't consider it to be a privacy concern. Now that he's doing better, he's really happy that she's been exploring her own sense of self.
Rose: This is much better than it was, but not at all fixed. S'ria resents her for her actions and for her thought processes – even knowing why she is like this on a basic level doesn't mean he understands. The fact that he remembers some of her fronts is more upsetting for him. He remembers what she was trying to do, but personally feels confused and disgusted in his perception of the experience, like the Thancred incident. (He'd really prefer not to think about how she acted in some of their earlier memories).
S’chaim: “Cringe”. S'ria finds many of his personality traits and mannerisms to be embarrassing, even if mostly harmless. It's just the preteen/teen moody vibes of it all that S'ria cringes to recall. S'chaim is still not very active and they rarely interact.
???: S'ria knows this one only fronts around very close people and slipping into this space is very cozy. He gets more comfortable, words get more difficult, and then – not him anymore, just a relaxed creature, and the vague memories later are pleasant. S'ria wouldn't mind if it spent more time with G'raha.
Fray’s Opinions: (???, ?)
S'ria: He used to not be able to defend himself as well, needed Fray's help, but they're pleased that he can stand on his own now. They are still ready to try to step in for any lapses, but they are content to be less active as time goes on. Fray does feel a certain amount of… guilt, when something happens that they could've fixed if they'd been close to awake. They could've helped S'ria during IFTC, if nothing else.
(Child)S’ria: Fray is particularly volatile with this one. He is typically in distress when fronting at all, so scaring him more or hurting him would likely send Fray into incoherent rage. Their attempts at getting S'ria's freedom as a kid didn't work, but they can pay that back now that they're strong.
Menphina: She's good – a critical part of the system. Both S'ria's need her. A part of them wishes they could be a healer like her, but they know that isn't who they are.
Rose: It's all well and good to do what she must, but putting the system in potentially dangerous situations for her own whims is unacceptable. Her wishes are utterly foreign to them.
S'chaim: These two have never interacted. Fray would step in to protect him with no judgment – he's pretty young still, not his responsibility to defend himself.
???: None of their business. As long as they are only dropping their guard among those truly trusted.
(Child)S'ria's Opinions: (~5-6, M)
(Mostly locked in place since childhood)
S'ria: The other me – the one who slept through it and grew up.
Fray: They want to protect me, I think, and I want to get out, but they keep getting me hurt when they try. They don't care about hurting the body, I think I want them to stop.
Menphina: She helps, I wish she could always be here. So nice to me, and gets rid of hurts. She's not like Ma, but somehow she is.
Rose: If… she would rather take over for that… then that's best.
S'chaim: Unaware of newer alters. Stuck in the past.
???: Unaware of newer alters. Stuck in the past.
Menphina's Opinions: (???, F)
S'ria: Proud of him, genuinely. She's been scared at times that he won't be able to recover or process, but he's managed it every time and continued to move forward. The idea of him not needing her so much is a little scary, but she's really enjoyed trying to be her own person too, outside of that.
Fray: She is so glad that they want to protect S'ria, but she has concerns. They are so determined to fight to protect S'ria that at times it feels like they forget S'ria himself will be physically harmed after the battle. Well, not that they forget but rather choosing not to care so much… Menphina is well aware what Fray would do in a no-win captive scenario, and cannot decide whether she prefers that to the system suffering again.
(Child)S’ria: Her beloved little S'ria. She cannot talk so directly with him anymore – now that he is only fronting when triggered out, he is often too distressed to even listen. But there are still moments where she can soothe him, and she misses the routine of it even if she doesn't miss that time in the slightest.
Rose: Oh, Rose. She wishes S'ria wouldn't be quite so harsh on her. She understands why S'ria is so upset, yes, but it's not Rose's fault that she hasn't figured out another way to function yet. She deserves patience and acceptance, even if some behavior is not okay.
S'chaim: Poor boy, she doesn't quite know how to help him. She doesn't know him as well as she'd like, with him being so rarely awake, and he's so standoffish at times. He accepts her comfort when he really needs it though, and that's all she can ask.
???: Good for the body's stress levels, otherwise just kind of sweet honestly
Rose's Opinions: (~13-14, F)
S'ria: She's sorry and gets some of why S'ria is mad at her, but he doesn't understand that she only wants to help. Why won't he let her? S'ria is happy in his current place in life, would it really be so bad if she tried to make sure it was secure?
Fray: She is grateful for what they did, now that she can see more clearly, but a part of her is still horrified. It was supposed to be her as usual, and they just stepped in and… she would never like to be anywhere near front if the body is committing such raw violence again. She doesn't want to see that now, and she definitely was not prepared to witness it then. Especially not when she was still emotionally attached.
(Child)S’ria: It's… best if that one rests. On some level, she recognizes that her existence was meant to protect this alter more than any other.
Menphina: She tries. Rose appreciates that she is nice to her and willing to defend her. Rose is just confused by Menphina sometimes. She kept trying to comfort Rose when things were fine and she wasn't even upset, and insisting there was no problem seemed to only make Menphina more sad. Rose didn't like those moments very much, even if she understands a bit better now why Menphina acted like that back then.
S'chaim: Just a kid. Brat. It is entirely lost on her that he's barely younger than her.
???: Huh. Nearly the opposite somehow, but the open self indulgence is refreshing to see.
S’chaim’s Opinions: (~10-12, M)
S'ria: Resentful. S'chaim just wants to go be silly, hang out with other people his age, but S'ria insists on living a life that will never allow S'chaim peace. He just wants a simple normal life.
Fray: These two have never interacted. S'chaim cannot imagine his body being used for such terrifying power in battle – a bit impressed and scared.
(Child)S’ria: Regards him as one might a crying child at a grocery store. Likely not a happy situation for the kid, but none of S'chaim’s business.
Menphina: She's nice, but he doesn't need her help or anything. He's just fine dealing with things on his own. (And if her comforting him when he's lonely or upset helps, then he'll never admit it).
Rose: She's so embarrassing to him – he still cringes to think about her attempt with Thancred. He doesn't seem to know or truly understand her prior/original role.
???: A vague side eye in its direction
???’s Opinions: (???,?)
It regards other alters with disinterest. Either it exists, or it doesn't, it isn't interested in trying to meaningfully communicate with others inside or outside the system. This alter is not human and doesn't process any social interaction that is non-tactile. Since other headmates cannot touch it, it is fine with ignoring them.
