The labyrinth of disused tunnels and chambers is a playground for urban explorers drawn to the thrill of trespassing in the dark underbelly of the city. Various incidents have brought Kenji to this place many times over the years, but he could never claim familiarity with these surroundings.

It doesn’t surprise him to see the wandering beam of a flashlight pass over decades-old graffiti. A thrill seeker taking their chances in the darkened tunnels, perhaps. But given the rumor he’s investigating right now, it won’t hurt to exercise extra vigilance.

From his position in a rusted and forgotten subway train he watches and waits, cautious gaze peering into the gloom as a figure turns the corner. He turns his own light low, hoping the darkness will aid in concealing his presence.

From their spot huddled together on the table, one of her own cats poked a head out from the pile. Poppy herself was busy on the laptop, pondering local shelters and looking for any missing reports. “You don’t have a microchip, buddy, but I wanna at least wait until the rain stops...you don’t wanna be wet, do you?” She glanced at her arms - those wounds he inflicted were almost gone, but he was a cat, right - a normal cat, for once in her life. It’s not like he would notice.

ok but one trope i’m actually w e a k for is when the villain and the hero reluctantly join forces to deal with a common enemy. like? that’s some good shit right there. i cheer every time it happens in something i’m watching. it puts the dynamic of the hero and the villain into a new light, and creates new and exciting dynamics when you put the strengths of the two parties together. and plus i often have villainous faves, so to see them working with the heroes always fills me with joy.

related to this is redemption arcs, boy do i love me some of those! those depend on the villain though; i believe there are some villains capable of redeeming (Scarlet actually being one of them; a redemption arc is something i haven’t yet explored here but would very much like to), and some that i just wouldn’t buy (not gonna name names here but i have some specific ones in mind).

another fave trope: superhero/villain worldbuilding, telling us how the world adapts to these superpowered individuals. that’s always good stuff

Ok I know the last couple of plans didn’t work out but hear me out here: You replace my bones with knives. Then when someone tries to punch me they get cut on the knives. It’s flawless.

That’s a great plan, provided you like constant terrible pain, being a motionless jellyfish and catastrophic internal bleeding. But you know, flawless.
