POTS!Phantom who is absolutely terrified the first time they pass out.

They don’t know what’s happening or why and their anxiety is not at all helped by Swiss who is also panicking even though he is more than used to it with Rain.

When Rain hears how shittily Swiss handled Phantom’s first episode, he gets Aether and sits Phantom down.

Aether evaluates and gives the diagnosis, Phantom only relaxes slightly when Rain says he has the same condition.

Rain helps Phantom manage their condition, teaching them everything he does to cope and adjusting where needs be.

Rain gets Phantom their first mobility aids (bc they are also hyper mobile so that also cause them a lot of pain) and helps them build up the confidence to use them in public.

They get spoke-guards for their wheelchair and Rain paints them with bats and full moons and the like.

They become so attuned to each other that they essentially work as each other’s service dog and can give about a 10 minute warning before an episode starts.

They always have salty snacks for themselves and the other too.

They help each other, and in turn help themselves.

Rain is a jealous ghoul. He’s always known it.

It’s fun, sometimes. Fun to let his packmates play with his jealousies until he just can’t help but snap. Until he’s got one of them over his lap, turned on beyond belief, skin red hot, as they beg for his mercy. As they apologise for daring to belong to anyone but him.

So yes, his jealousy is fun, but he never expected for it to manifest like this.

The first time, he thought he was just overtired. Anger boiling inside of him caused by lack of sleep the previous night rather than jealousy of one of his packmates. After all, this is a stupid thing to be jealous about, and the night before, well… He’d been rather too busy being taken apart inch by painstaking inch by Zephyr to really have had any modicum of decent sleep at all. So again, why was he jealous? Why is he still jealous? What motive did he have to be jealous of the ghoul that was in his bed only the night before?

It wasn’t until Aeon was summoned that he figured it out. Until the sensation of his blood boiling could be tied to more than just an abstract feeling of annoyance bubbling under his skin. With Aeon, he’s never felt his usual jealousy—the quintessence ghoul is in his bed more often than not, so why would he? What he has felt however, has been that awful, sick feeling of hatred every time that new ghoul stumbles. Complains of his ailments. Asks to borrow one of Zephyr’s old canes or pairs of forearm crutches for stability on a particularly bad day.

That’s when it had all clicked together. Aeon. Zephyr. Sometimes even Mountain or Cumulus.

But never Rain.

His jealousy stems from the fact that they get help. They are allowed to be in pain, to be uncomfortable. They have a reason. They have been seen by Omega, by Aether, by the team in the infirmary, and they all have something different about them.

Rain doesn’t.

Rain, with the hyperextended legs that apparently cause him no medical difficulties and yet still stumbles during practice or onstage. Rain, with the perfect iron count whose vision still turns to static when he stands up. Rain, with joints that ache, bones that pop, a head that never quite seems to be able to pay attention as well as the others, but he’s fine. No matter how hard he presses that something is wrong, he’s fine. Nevermind that he’s been Up Top for years, nevermind that he’s done all that he can to treat this on his own. Nevermind that he’s getting worse. He’s fine, at least that’s what Aether had told him the last time he took a trip to the infirmary.

So yes, he’s jealous. He’s jealous of Zephyr’s chair on their bad days and the fact that Aeon feels no shame in asking to borrow mobility aids from ghouls that aren’t using them. He’s jealous that Cumulus only needs to ask Aether for a wrist splint before one is in her lap, being meticulously fastened by the quintessence ghoul himself. He’s tried to reign it in, the intensity of his emotions about this, but no matter how hard he tries, he just can’t. He knows it’s not anyone’s fault, least of all Aeth’s or Meg’s—they’re just doing their jobs, there’s protocol they have to follow—but that knowledge doesn’t stop the jealousy, the aggravation, the hatred of his beloved packmates for simply existing in a way that he’s not allowed to. For getting help in a way that he’s too scared to ask for.

He often thinks that perhaps this is why he’s so angry, so jealous. It’s his own fault he can’t—won’t—ask for help from any of them. He knows he’s allowed to. He knows that Aether and Omega would be more than happy to bend the rules a little to help him out, or that Zephyr wouldn’t mind lending him a (literal) something to lean on when Rain needs it. But he’s scared. Scared that if they can help, he won’t be in pain anymore and he’s been lying this whole time. And scared that if they can’t, that he’s unfixable, untreatable. That this vessel is just another one of God’s mistakes that Satan never bothered to fix. Maybe it is. Maybe there’s no fixing him. No helping him.

He hopes that’s not the case. As much as getting whatever this is fixed scares him, he knows he can’t go on like this forever. His pack knows it too. Zephyr had noticed it first. They’d sat him down one day in their room and had simply waited until it had all come pouring out in a mess of tears and snot and helplessness. Since then, the pack have known what’s been happening and as a collective, they’ve been doing their best to help him. It’s nice, he thinks. For them to be so kind to a being as broken as himself. One day he’ll try his best to repay them all. For now though, he just needs to work up the energy to swing his legs over the edge of his mattress, to muster up the courage to call Aeon and ask for his help, and maybe a cane.

Or maybe he’ll just stay in bed a while longer...

Imagine Swiss who's getting a wash day for his hair and Phantom learning how to help Swiss take care of it, he's so excited and he's ready to learn the different hairstyles that Swiss liked to do and it makes him so happy.

Imagine Virgin Aurora who's so scared of being hurt during sex and Cumulus is so gentle with her the entire time, she praises the young Ghoulette through everything and makes her feel so good and Aurora sobs happily.

Imagine trans femme Omega coming out to her pack for the first time and she's so scared that she ends up crying, the pack is so supportive of her and holds her and tells her how proud of her they are.

Imagine Phantom with a cleft lip and he's so insecure about it and the siblings tease him often so the pack goes out of their way to reassure him and praise him for how he looks and even listens to his worries.

Imagine Cirrus and Cumulus having sex and Cirrus accidentally dislocates her shoulder and the two girls are giggling and making jokes while Cirrus takes a moment to rest and keeps her shoulder from dislocating again.

Imagine Ivy and Pebble being in a queer platonic relationship and they're so sweet and lovey and people always make fun of them for it but they don't mind as long as they have each other.

Just imagine the softness and casualness of everyday life with ghouls, they're not perfect and they know that. But it's somehow perfect to them, and they love it. If you wanna hear more please ask!!

I think when Rain has flare ups with his endometriosis, the pack is right there with him. Aether just carefully massaging his abdomen and pouring magick in to try and ease the pain. Hurts his heart seeing his mate in so much pain and silently crying.

Dew snuggled up at his waist to be a heating pad, even Mountain making teas to help with the cramps. Swiss is always there to make him feel better in some capacity, wether it's being an absolute dork like usual or just readjusting his nest and getting him treats. Cirrus and Cumulus making sure he's not getting too overheated and providing little gusts of wind to keep him comfy.

Phantom, Aurora, and Sunshine don't have the best clue on it, but know enough to help as well! Aurora making sure his baths are ready for when he needs help just functioning; Sunshine being patient and helping him dry off, redress, or even eat when the pain is so bad he's stuck curled in on himself; Phantom using the tiny bit of magick he knows to get rid of Rain's headache, cuddling against his back and rubbing his shoulders.

ive rewritten one of my older ficlets about rain getting moiblity aids as a part of a commission for @everybodyshusband. it's in the middle of it, so if you want to read the whole thing, start here

She knew she would become even clumsier with them. She will need even more help from others; she will certainly end up being a huge burden. She already is a huge burden! They are definitely judging her all the time, they must hate her.

Maybe she is just pretending?

Yeah, she definitely doesn’t need mobility aids, it isn’t that bad, really, it–

“Princess?” Rain flinches hearing Swiss’ voice as he rounds the corner. He will laugh at her and– “Hey, hey, guppy, what’s wrong?”

“Swissy, ‘s ogay, go away,” she mumbles, now fully sobbing, as she curls in on herself and kicks the crutches away.

“I can see it’s not okay,” Swiss sighs. “Can I sit next to you?”

Rain nods shakily. The pout on her face and the sadness in her eyes makes the multi ghoul’s heart ache. 

The multi ghoul sits on the stone step next to her. He already linked Rain’s little breakdown to the crutches. “Overwhelm you a bit, don’t they?”

Another whimper, followed by a nod, “Scary an’–and i’s hard.”

“Oh, I bet it is,” Swiss chuckles. “Would you like a hug?”

Instead of answering verbally Rain throws herself at Swiss, hiding her teary face in the multi ghoul’s chest. He kicks up his body temperature a notch and wraps his arms around her, whispering quiet reassurances. “It’s okay, princess.”

He lets her cry it out and after a while the water ghoulette’s breathing calms a little and her tears slow down. Swiss speaks again, then, “Do you wanna tell me what’s so scary and hard about them, guppy?”

“‘s…‘s jus’ dat I don’ wanna need helb,” Rain mutters into his chest. “An’ they make me clumsy.”

“You don’t wanna need help from these things or from us?”

“You, b’cause i’s annoyin’ and ‘m already a lot an–” she starts to babble, tears returning now that she is voicing all of her bad thoughts.

“Hey, hey, none of that, princess!” Swiss chuckles, squeezing Rain a bit tighter. “You are not annoying and not a burden, never. We love you, all of us, always, and we love taking care of you. Do you think Ifrit minds having to warm up Zephyr so often? Or that Mountain has a problem with having to create his weird special teas for them?”

“N–no…they love Zepf,” Rain admits.

“Exactly! And we love you, so I don’t see any problems.”

“B–but–”

“No buts, princess,” Swiss stops her again. It is overwhelming, he understands that, but this is a topic for a conversation with big Rain. This little creature, that Swiss has currently a lapful of, needs to just be taken out of her head. “Anyway, I’ve got an idea.”

Rain hums in question. “You’ve got those purple ones for when you’re little—I love that color, by the way—but I still think they're a bit too boring for you. What do you say about stickers?”

“Stickers?” she perks up right away. She loves stickers!

“Yeah! We can get you some fishy stickers, would you like that?”

“Yes, Swissy, please! Can we, uhm…can we get a shark?” Rain brightens up, her eyes still wet but not as sad as a moment ago. Swiss is a master of distractions.

“Of course we can! Let’s go to my room and look for some on my laptop, what do you say?” The water ghoulette nods. “And when you’re big again we’ll ask Zephyr to teach you how to walk with the crutches properly so you don’t fall again, would that be okay?”

Rain nods again and Swiss goes to pick her up. He looks at the crutches laying on the floor and thinks about grabbing them, too, but he decides against it, wanting to prioritize Rain and get her mind off of the mobility aids situation. He—or someone else—will get them later.

Rain is always very cuddly when little, so it is no surprise she snuggles up against Swiss and kicks up a quiet purr. The multi ghoul gets them to his room and leaves the water ghoulette on his bed to fetch his laptop.

Once he gets it he settles by the headboard with Rain in his lap, ready to look up different online stores with a variety of stickers of all kinds. She is even excited now; wanting to get her hands on them and stick them on her new crutches; even if they still scare her.

But they will definitely be less scary all covered in fish.

hEDS phantom with ace bandages

Phantom who hates wearing any kind of brace or bandage when his joints are sore/loose. They're restricting, and itchy, and overall overstimulating. He refuses to wear them, and would rather be in pain than be that uncomfortable.

Phantom who sees rain doodling on one of his own bandages, wrapped tight around his wrist with a bunch of stars and flowers decorating it.

Phantom who wants to help, he thinks it's cute. Rain who lets phantom doodle all over it, telling the younger ghoul that it makes the discomfort more tolerable when it reminds him of his pack.

Phantom coming to rain limping one night, an ace bandage in one hand and markers in the other. Of course rain settles the quint on the bed and wraps up his achy knee.

Rain who draws a bunch of cute little things all over the bandage, as well as writes a few little notes on it.

Phantom who finally sleeps with the bandage on. He wakes up the next morning in less pain than usual and decides that he needs something from all of his pack.

The ghouls who happily doodle all over a few bandages, leaving them covered in little things to remind phantom of his mates.

They made sure to get him the nice soft bandages, he's got one for every color too, that way they don't look out of place

Copia always makes sure that the nurses stay stocked up so phantom can always get a new one if he wants too.
