mel had never been one to judge. polite and well meaning almost to a fault, she keeps most of her thoughts and opinions to herself when it regards the feelings of others. but, it was kind of hard to keep her mouth shut when it was so clear that one of these boys certainly had no business here. “you never taken a dance class before?” she asks, taking advantage of the fifteen minute break teri was allowing them. mel still wasn’t necessarily sure if they were calling a break because teri was being generous for once or if it was because she needed a minute away from this nightmare of a rehearsal. if the way her younger sister walks out of the dance studio sighing loudly is any indication at all, mel’s certain it’s the latter. “hell, you ever dance at all before?” she knows the muses choreography can be demanding, and adding in the added task of singing on key it’s a challenge for even them at times. but the way phil struggles through these rehearsals is new even to her. @dirtydeville

It was nice to have Phil back at the apartment, even for just a little bit. The holidays wouldn’t be the same without him there, so Lil was feeling a little sappy as they got ready to watch some Christmas movies together. She had decorated the apartment a little extra this year to make it feel less empty, which was also an easy way to keep her busy and distracted when she wasn’t busy with school or sports. The two had already began munching on their Christmas cookies, and Lil also had to force herself from eating all of them at once with her brother. “Hmm..” she began to think for a moment before shrugging her shoulders. “Not sure. Maybe we’ll just watch the first two and then see how we’re feeling afterwards?” @dirtydeville​

walking around with a giant purple spider stuffed animal, chip cranes his neck over the crowd looking for phil. the second he saw the thing sitting at the ring toss booth he knew he had to get it for his friend. even if it meant spending a ridiculous amount of time failing at the game until he started to get good at it. “phil! phil!” Chip yells when he finally spots him, running through the crowd with the spider held above his head. “i won you this!” he presents Phil with the spider, smiling brightly. then, when the enthusiasm dies he stares at his costume. “why are you in your pajamas?” @dirtydeville

Mouth dropping open slightly as he listens to Phil speak, it takes him a second to pull himself back together. Having always worked on his own, working as a part of a boyband had been an adjustment. Working with people like Phil that could neither sing nor dance, and apparently had no idea what made a good song, was making this nearly impossible. “I...I don’t.” He says bluntly, shaking his head. “I don’t like it.” For a brief moment Skip entertained the idea of lying, not wanting to shut down the first thing Phil contributed to the band, but encouraging him could only lead to something more horrific in the future. “You’re gonna have to take it up with the rest of the guys, but I’m pulling for you to get those lines.” As long as he doesn’t have to be the one to sing it, he really doesn’t care who does. “Does Chip know you sent ideas to the label?” // @dirtydeville​

It had been over a week since Penelope had seen Phil last and that was honestly sort of new for her. She hadn’t realized how comfy she had gotten to him just being around almost all the time. The way he smelled, the way he smiled down at her because he was so fucking tall; she hated to admit it to herself, but she missed him. She missed him so, so, badly, but she wasn’t really sure what to do with that. When he reached out to her, she ignored it. She was ignoring everyone really. She ignored her socials even, which was so unlike her she was convinced that she had been possessed by aliens. She just sat at home and watched k-dramas about beautiful people who understood romance and drama and fun without fights that hurt. But she had run out of ice cream and was not a fan of that. So she put on her favorite sweats, big sunglasses, hair tied, and made her way to the store. She ignored everyone who called her over and all of that; at least she tried but then she saw him leaving where she was entering and she stopped dead in her tracks like an idiot. “Fuck,” she whispered under her breath, pushing her glasses up and trying to not look up at him. She was still frozen in place, but she wasn’t making the first move.

the lunch rush was finally over. as overwhelming it could get, it was always a good sign for the cafe to be that busy. but it also highlighted how much cass needed extra help. help! cass rushed from the kitchen to the table she'd left the boy who came in looking to apply. in midst of the lunch rush, she completely forgot and felt terrible about it. slightly out of breath, she sits across from him. " i'm so sorry for the wait, do you need anything before we get started? " she asks with a kind smile. " water? iced coffee? something to snack on? have you had lunch? mel’s free time is limited -- it has been since the band started, but she makes her peace with the fact that a busy touring schedule takes even more of her time away. but no matter how busy she gets, she can never turn down someone who needs her help in any way. being paired with phil as her dance partner for reggaeton lento had started out as a minor setback but quickly blossomed into a weird kind of maybe friendship. so, she takes her promise to help him out very seriously, and surprisingly phil is keeping up his end of the deal and showing up on time to all their schedule google meets. she doesn’t expect today’s to be any different, especially not with jello being leaked sometime earlier in the day. what would have been an apologetic greeting for anyone else in the prettyboyz turns into an excited congratulatory greeting for phil. as much as mel understands the other boys’ stress with being stuck with such a bad song, she knows phil was so proud of his first real contribution to the group and it’d be such an asshole move not to celebrate that with him. besides, the worst line in the song wasn’t the one phil added, so that was a win in itself. “you’re a songwriter!” mel greets happily applauding phil once he enters the meet. “you contributed more to jello than chip and skip did to reggaeton lento combined. how’s that feel?” @dirtydeville​

chip honestly didn’t expect to have gotten close to, or even remained friends with phil after having tweeted his and penelope’s sex tape. but somewhere on the road leading up to that day they started spending more time together, and it was honestly really nice to have someone around who very clearly didn’t seem to care about what people thought of him. their friendship was born out of intrigue and chaos, but chip can’t even really complain. in the short time they’ve known each other he’s begun to feel comfortable being open and honest with phil, an openness he’s only shared with trixie.

phil is the first person to find out chip was struggling with his new music. he invited phil to hang out at the studio with him, and after four hours of lying around doing nothing phil eventually asked what the fuck was up. chip confessed, feeling that for once he didn’t have to live up to some sort of crazy expectations with phil — he fucking eats bugs for fucks sake. phil didn’t judge him and actually surprised chip by being so cool about it and trying to help him out however he could. phil threw out the idea once of writing a song for Penelope and chip took it to heart. once he started writing songs for lock and wendy, chip sat down to pen a song to dedicate to phil and penelope as a thank you to his new best buddy.

chip is actually a pretty decent cook. when he was a kid it’s how he bonded with his mom. sometimes chip will make one of his favorite family recipes and bring some over for phil. he can’t imagine how weird it is to be going to school so far away from home, and imagines sometimes phil might miss home cooked meals so that’s how chip tries to help. it’s not the same, he knows, but he tries.
