✦☾ welcome home, cubs! ☾✦

info ab me!
i have been a part of this community/kinning for over a decade now, hence i created this blog to give help, advice, encouragement, and support to any of those who need it! my inbox & messages are always open to help with any kind of kin related matters. this space is for my kintype and will be filled with caninekin adjacent posts if that is up your alley.
Therianthopy and it’s components have been a huge part of me as long as I’ve been alive. It’s an essential part of explaining how I behave put into language, as the feelings and experiences of how I feel inwardly cannot be fully communicated verbally, but can be spoken about in common level and specific terms to guide to a general understanding. I learned early on that I always acted more animalistic than others—especially as a child. I favoured running on all fours, yipping and barking when I became happy or excited, howling as a greeting or whistling for communicating over long distances (creds to dad for that one), growling, biting, or clawing as a means of displaying anger, annoyance, or rage, learning how to climb before I could walk, etc. These behaviours have been a part of me as long as I can remember, and will continue to be as long as I live. Though years of bullying put me in shame about it, I could not nor would not ignore how it always felt natural to communicate and behave this way, and luckily my family and friends have always been accepting and accommodating of my behavior, never forbidding me from how I express myself as they understand I am most comfortable through it. I’ve learned I can exist happily this way.

Growing up I never understood gender rules or stereotypes. All the “rules” felt so convoluted and made up as I never felt I identified with either side of the gender binary. I always felt the body I have is just one I happen to inhabit. I understood the concept of ‘social gender’ as learned behaviour and displays, one that I nor my family cared much for obeying. I was raised in thought of modern day femininity and masculinity to not be a personal necessity, but that it was simply a social aspect of adherence. Instead, the individuality of masculinity and femininity became important in my development of forming an inward balance between the two, grappling with how the world taught me to be and how I knew I truly was, and my parents had the very same sense. They had far more important things to worry about than socially gendering their little ones, they were busy raising us cubs! With this in mind, my family instead taught us to embrace ourselves and everything we entail. I remember watching my mother’s uncanny ability to be a whisperer to every animal taught me true empathy, to understand the everything has a soul, feelings, and heart. My father’s unwavering love for his lifemate and cubs taught us to love our inner children and gave me the ability to understand myself, knowing I would have support from them. When I discovered how I felt inside had words to it, it felt like my eyes were opened for the first time, and knowing they would accept my innermost self has been all I need to know. My relationship towards my physical form and my emotions have become deeper and more spiritual as I grow, but the word ‘therian’ is as close as I can get to identifying my inner state verbally. It is outside ‘human’. *kinning is not always inherently related to one’s spiritual journey/gender identity, but can be for many. my kinship and two spirituality are separate whilst being shared through language expression. free to ask any questions!

Hi! I'm dire wolfkin and am looking for other dire wolfkins. Wolfkin is fine, too! I would also like to find my pup. If you remember traveling with a big black wolf with red paws and tail, please contact me on @witchykin. Memories I know of are findig a pup on the side of a cliff, and takin them to safety. When I told you about being adopted, you ran away and was caught by some sort of predator. I freed you, and that's all I remember. I called you "Little Cub" most of the time. Thanks!

Wolstrem - A Brief Summary
Though never truly founded in any official capacity, none doubt the existence and sovereignty of Wolstrem. Boasting a population of Orcs and Wolfkin, they have survived brutal winters that would have wiped out a lesser citizenry. Their culture is simple, but kind and straightforward. Politics are matters of the peoples best interest first, as responsibility and community are among the first concepts taught to their young ones.
The Wolstremi peoples are divided into five tribes, which are as follows: Garung, Bolseff, Ahlgran, Inok, and Kalkinn.
The Garung were the first Orc tribe. While they hold seniority with the Ahlgran, they are humble and gladly bend knee to the ruling tribe of the yearly cycle.
The Bolseff are a relatively new tribe, consisting of both Orcs and Wolfkin, as well as a small population of half-breed “Tusked Wolfkin”.
Ahlgran, the first Wolfkin tribe, were the ones to adapt the quickest to their environs, sheltering the Orcs until the Garung tribe was formed. They are proud and boast of their harmony with nature (which peeves most Elves within earshot).
The Inok were hastily formed as a sort of impromptu military in response to Mazzirac’s Silent Army. They returned from the conflict battle-hardened and have been more than happy to patrol the borders of Wolstrem for any potential threats.
And finally, the Kalkinn are a “foreigner tribe”, given legitimacy by the then-ruling tribes of Garung and Ahlgran. They house those who have fled their homes and have nowhere else to go, offering “citizenship” and community to those without. Even exiled beastfolk are welcome, so long as they adhere to the tribes’ tenets.
Life among the tribes is often a harsh affair, the very land of Wolstrem a hazard to one’s health if not prepared or adapted. Blizzards and chilling hurricanes ravage the northern coast, forcing those in their paths to dig within the snow for shelter or find nearby caverns for refuge. What little economy there is revolves around the trade of Wolstrem’s myriad gem deposits, which are a common sight even above ground. These are traded for supplies, materials, and some useful consumer goods such as tools, weapons, scrolls, and other items of convenience.
The concepts of “family” and “community” are one and the same to the Wolstremi, even across tribes. Child-rearing is a task for everyone in the tribe, and no child is turned away even in the most dire of circumstances. Many Orcs and Wolfkin have fallen in order to protect the young of another, including foreigners. It is simply their culture to aid those who cannot help themselves.
Considered “barbaric” by the more “developed” civilizations, many fail to grasp the beauty in their ways’ simplicity. Shame has no place among the tribal folk, and thus deception is rare. Those who do deceive their kin, especially for their own gain, are shunned by others, and despite their lack of technology or advanced magic, their shamans spread news faster than many would think.
The laws of Wolstrem are simple, no-nonsense common-sense rules. An emphasis on community safety and well-being are the heaviest strokes in their concise legislation. Those who would break their simple rules are either sentenced to permanent or temporary exile, the timing of which is decided by the head shaman of the ruling tribe of the time.
Wolstremi art is surprisingly nuanced, centered on telling ancient tales of various topics and themes. This emphasis is incorporated into everything that can be artful in its own way. Tools, clothing, yurts, jewelry, weapons, tattoos, and even ritual scarification. Each tell a story important to either the one who made it or the one who bears it. If you ever meet a Wolstremi you would wish to make friends with, exchange stories with them. They will be more than happy to listen and tell their own, as nothing passes long winter nights like stories by the fire.

Release Blitz for Wolf of the Northern Star by SJ Himes and Giveaway!
OS: Welcome to SJ Himes! We are lucky enough to have her here today to talk with Kane and Ghost – the “stars” of her Wolfkin series. Kane, in the first book, there wasn’t a lot of time for “romance” – if there was time and there hadn’t been any danger would you have done anything differently when meeting Ghost- the reunion? Kane (Alpha) If I had more time, and things weren’t so dire when we…
