Diosgyor Castle, Hungary The first castle of Diósgyőr was built probably in the 12th century and was destroyed during the Mongol invasion (1241-42). The current, Gothic castle was built after the invasion and reached the peak of its importance during the reign of King Louis the Great (1342-1382). Later it became a wedding gift for the queens of Hungary, which it remained until the Ottoman invasion of Hungary in the 16th century. By the end of the 1600s it was already in ruins. Archaeological excavations started in the 1960s. In 2014 the castle was completely rebuilt, the reconstructed rooms are furnished with Mediaeval-style furniture. The castle had its prime during the reign of Louis I (Louis the Great). Its importance lay in standing near the road leading to Poland (the mother of Louis the Great, Elizabeth Lokietkówna, was a Polish princess; Louis himself became King of Poland in 1370.) The king had the castle rebuilt and modernised. Surrounded by several walls, the inner castle was built around a rectangular courtyard, and it had four towers, one on each corner. On the first floor were the storerooms and on the second floor were the rooms and the Knights' Hall, which was 25 meters long and 13 meters wide. The modernising of the castle was finished under the reign of Louis' daughter Marywho followed his father on the Hungrian thrown. Actually in 1381 the castle witnessed one of the most important parliament meeting of the Hungarian Kingdom, where Luis I declared the lineage for female herits in Hungary!

A Burning Bush

Bleak dolerites, like castle walls of Diosgyor, rise silently through swirling mist and disappear into the void of endless stretched-out atmosphere.

These iron walls, from either side and from behind, forced shaky legs to walk a course I did not want. An urge so strange, ousted the fear for unknown ground.

Fixed in my mind, a dire voice, “Keep on this road. To change your heart from prejudice to tolerance, do not elude this rugged road that you dread to chance.”

Then sanctity opened a scroll above my head, and all at once, the face of truth-filled empty space, removed my blindfold and delayed my feeble pace.

I saw the worlds of rich and poor covered in blame, where hate is sown, by greed and lack, to bear just crime. In fertile minds they’ll nurse their sprouts till harvest time.

In endless struggles to control their makeshift worlds, like Tantalus, they fight and brawl, and snarf their own. Unscrupulous in all their deeds, with hearts of stone.

Behind the stigma scars of poverty, the wanting class, where children search through scarcity for foolish gold, and beauty shines in moments found, they laugh and hold.

In mansions bright, adorn with lights, the world of rich, where plenitude replaced enough, for fear of need, while deep within they kill the heart with selfish deeds.

I saw religions of the world, all stained with blood, while pious pilgrims flock like ants to holy shrines, quick to forget humanity’s horrendous crimes.

The warring fields of selfish doctrines calls to me where juveniles are taught to kill, but know not why, until they’re used and fear-disciples let them die.

This all I saw; then finally, I heard the rest of all creation, shedding tears, bowing their heads. “O, human kind,” they murmured softly, “is this your best?”

22 óra után tért be a kocsmába, ahol egy ferencvárosi érzelmű szurkoló diósgyőri mivolta miatt bántalmazta. Előbb szóváltás alakult ki a kocsmában, majd a támadó utána ment és a kocsma előtt megtámadta és megverte. A verekedés közben önvédelem céljából az engedéllyel magánál tartott gázriasztó fegyverrel több lövést is leadott a levegőbe, hogy támadója meghátráljon és a verést befejezze.
