Haha baby Diona(even as half cat and human) would always step on her bowl of food and get herself and the table messy❤️

The first time she saw a Kätzlein newborn the thought they could be different from ordinary humans not even occured to her.

Years ago she opened her door to see a little thing, a bundle so small wrapped in a thin, pink blanket, mewling softly inside a basket.

She knew the newborn was from the Kätzlein race, since when she brushed away the blanket little pink ears twitched ever so slightly. But back then, she was so worried about this fragile being that nothing else registered.

The baby was light in her arms, warm besides the thin blanket. She had hugged securely the baby and entered her house, trembling voice calling for her wife.

Jean had come meet her in the living room, hair messed in some places and spots of baby food on her white bag shirt.

One look at her distressed face and the cooing baby she had understood.

It wasn't uncommon to have childrens dropped on their doorstep. It has been happening since the couple adopted Klee and single, distressed mothers in bad situations would think it would be okay to dump the kid they couldn't take care of. Some would apologize in letters, others would just let the child in their door after knocking. Because of Jean's work as Grand Master the mothers probably thought they could adopt the children but realistically it would be impossible.

Jean has been working together with the orphanage to erase the stigma in handling out children to adoption but so far there hasn't been a great development.

By the time they finish talking about the situation and carefully examined the baby, their daughter was screaming blood murder in her playpen.

They decided to feed the newborn with one the formulas they bought to give to the orphanage charity while Jean prepared Klee to preschool.

Lisa remembers so very well of that moment, sitting in the couch with a newborn sucking avidly from the bottle, little ears twitching in synchrony with her sucking, big blueish eyes round and soft. Think back then, she probably fell in love on that moment.

They gave the baby to the orphanage though, just like they always do with the others. She remembers of the weird angst seizing her heart when she handled the baby to Barbara's hands. Remembers of the soft crying of a little girl and the big tears in her small eyes.

And even though they gave the baby to the orphanage, Lisa would pop up there every now and then under pretense of help her sister-in-law. She would check on the newborn baby who was named Diona, would take her on her arms and bouncy the little thing so she could go back to sleep or coo adorably for her.

Usually in Mondstadt babies don't remains in the orphanage for long. There are always some couple waiting to adopt a baby but Diona wasn't the case. It took one, two, three months to Lisa understand that the little girl wouldn't be adopted because she wasn't human like the others.

She remembers of saying to Jean that she wanted to give Diona a good home, a good chance and a family who would love her completely. And well, Klee was nearing the mark of two years old and they still had so many things from her baby phase. It also helped that Jean always wanted a big family so convince her wife of a new adoption wasn't hard.

The hard part came when Diona finally came home and Lisa was faced with all the little things that make the baby different from Klee. For example, she had no idea Diona's behavior could alternate, sometimes she would act just like a kitten, grooming herself and other times she just acted like an ordinary human.

It promoted her to study a lot more deeper about Diona's race, to understand what she could provide to her daughter.

And then Diona's solid food phase came and it was a whole new trip. Because Klee was such a hyperactive kind of toddler, never waiting to sit down to eat, never staying quite enough to chew her baby food and chocking every so often because her running and jumping around. Diona though...

Diona only wanted to eat in her fours, her little tail up and ears twitching. Lisa and Jean would try to seat her to the baby get up again and coo at them for her food. So Lisa developer this method of cover the floor with some blankets so Diona could eat to her hearts content, messing the floor and herself in the middle. Which would lead to the bath and the fuss their daughter would throw at getting a bath.

Watching now her three year old baby toddle around with her big sister makes her smile and be grateful for whomever Diona's biological mother was and the decision to give her to them.

Yes, their house is very loud with two little children and yes, Lisa often doesn't know what is a leisure day anymore but she wouldn't change it for anything.
