I might be a bit late because exams are kicking my ass, but here’s my participation to the DinoPants Week’s second prompt!

DinoPants week: day 6

I’ve been listening to nothing but Steely Dan lately and I really love the Gaucho album art, I had to draw these two in the pose.

These Feelings Are Gucci (DinoPants Week Day 4 - Fashion)

Clean pressed and sleek, he insists on looking impeccable whenever he leaves the apartment. With the money he earns from racing, Diego is able to afford any brand his arrogant eyes lay on. Hugo Boss, Prada, Calvin Klein - he can easily purchase them all, no hesitation, no doubt. His closet is filled with the finest styles his credit card can buy.

It was not always this way.

As a child, Diego would devour images from fashion magazines discarded on sidewalks because there was no food to fill his stomach. Those sharp jawed models flaunted a luxury that Diego yearned for but could not afford: nice clothes. At one point he even had dreams of being a model just so he could wear pants that were not worn at the knees and shirts that were not three sizes too large. Those dreams were abandoned when Diego realized not many modeling agencies wanted men so short. That was fine; he liked jockeying more anyway.

Hot Pants knows all this because Diego told her, a reluctant but lengthy confession after HP demanded to know why Diego took two hours to groom himself and put on an Armni suit to go to the grocery store. Diego was embarrassed to admit that it is his financially poor childhood that compells him to look high end at every waking moment.

But he does not look high end in this moment. Right now, Diego is curled next to Hot Pants on the couch in a dinosaur t-shirt and boxers. His hair is unstyled and he wears glasses instead of contacts. Even his face is clear of his usual designer scowl; in fact, he's actually laughing at the silly movie they're showing on television. In this moment, Hot Pants thinks he looks like a happy man.

"What're you smiling at?" Diego demands to know when he notices Hot Pants's gaze.

"I was just thinking about how handsome you look."

"But I'm dressed like a slob."

"I know." She pecks a soft kiss on his mouth. Diego flushes from ear to ear.
