Dinner in America is a critique on American (specifically midwestern) suburban life and the nuclear family, as well as a nod to the white 90s punk scene. Of course I love the rom com aspects of the story but reducing it to that misinforms new audiences.
Please allow/listen to/absorb critiques of this movie’s use of slurs and prejudice.
Real marginalized voices should always come first.
I just finished watching dinner in America and oh my god!!!:!:&/8,!/@ that was honestly my favourite rom com I’ve ever seen, in my opinion it’s a perfect way of capturing romance in weirder ways and I think it was the perfect mix of weird cute and gross.
I have an oc named Penny. She kinda gives the same vibes as Patty but I swear I made her before I ever saw the movie 😭. She’s so sweet and awkward, she always says exactly what she means and she jumps and dances and creates these stunning works of art she locks in a closet to never see the light of day.
I would love to rp with someone who wants to be her angsty punk bf who loves her because of all her weirdness and never despite it. A feel good rp kinda like the movie but obv with rough patches because yknow real life or whatever.
(And maybe a little NSFW too bc it would be kinda hot or maybe I’m just a freak? Idk hit me up to rp anytime)
This is the most passionate first kiss I’ve ever seen in a movie or anything. HE BIT HER LIP, LIKE WHAT. THE WAY SHE GOES BACK IN. THE WAY HES LOOKING AT HER LIPS. BRUH
