So the drummer interview Brendon did as Pickles confirms this! He learned piano from a mean nun which made him hate music for a while. And I believe the same interview mentions that he starts the writing process for songs on the piano to help nail the chords!

So considering we see Nathan and Pickles play the Piano during “How can i be a hero?” in DSR we can only assume that they didn’t just pull that out of their asses and know how to play the piano. Which. in itself makes me love that they really made Pickles the multitalented music protege. Makes me wonder if Snakes N Barrels ever did a rock balled on the piano,,,

I’m sure Rose had Nathan take Piano lessons as a kid. With how supportive they are of his work he was probably told learning piano would help him with his music plans in the future!

Molly probably just made Pickles take them for discipline. You wanna work with music? then you start here. no if, ands or buts. I’m sure he hated it but it came naturally to him (along with everything else)
