hi! it's okay if you don't have the time or don't want to, but i was curious if you knew: in 3hopes, for the dimilix dining dialogue at their a support, dimitri says "i've always enjoyed watching you eat, felix. there's something almost heroic about it. hm? is something the matter?" to which a very disgruntled felix replies "if you keep talking, all i'm going to be able to taste is hot air. now let me eat my food in peace". would you say this translation is accurate to the original japanese? because i find it...............so weird. and so confusing? i literally don't know what it means.

I want to and have time! :D quick translation with some rambling under cut (hopefully clearing up what it means):

Japanese:

ディミトリ： フェリクスの食べっぷりは豪快だろう？ 俺はこれが昔から好きで……む、どうした？

リフェリクス： チェ、横でくだらん話をされて、落ち着いて 食べられると思うか？ この阿呆が……。

Translation:

Dimitri: Isn't Felix's way of eating glorious? I've loved it since we were... hm? What is it?

Felix: Tsk, how do you expect me to eat in peace when you're talking nonsense right next to me? Idiot...

So: yes, I'd say the English translation is fairly accurate, ahaha. I have a few things to comment on:

JP!Dimitri is addressing Shez here, and babbling to them about how much he likes Felix. In the English version, he's talking to Felix instead. This actually mirrors how their A Support Dining dialogue was translated in the English version of FE3H as well, hilariously (Dimitri regales Byleth with tales of baby!Felix in Japanese but speaks directly to Felix in English), despite the translations being handled by different teams!

The word Dimitri uses to describe Felix's way of eating in Japanese is 豪快, which Jisho.org suggests the following translations for: hearty; tremendous; magnificent; glorious; splendid; heroic; stirring​. The English version going with heroic is fair. (yes Dimitri is actually waxing poetic about the way Felix eats)

What does it mean? Well, for one, there are other instances of 3H characters talking about enjoying watching someone eat -- more specifically, with Ingrid. For instance, her B Support with Yuri has him go on at length about how much he likes watching her eat, which she ends up deriding as "flirtatious"; but more importantly, it comes up in both her dining dialogue (both in Hopes and in Houses) and her Hopes supports with Sylvain, where he similarly talks about how he enjoys watching her eat. This is likely intentional as the games repeatedly draw parallels between Dimitri/Felix and Ingrid/Sylvain.

tldr this dining conversation is both a) the writers drawing dimilix-sylvgrid parallels, again, and b) dimitri saying something that comes across as flirtatious without thinking which is why felix gets embarrassed about it. there is no heterosexual explanation

All the Blue Lions designs for Three Hopes are out. Your thoughts?

Dimitri - He and Edelgard were softened a good bit from their FE16 post-timeskip versions, presumably because they're more marketable that way. Still, he looks less haggard and I appreciate the consistent symbolism of Dimitri only having the eyepatch when he loses Dedue.

Dedue - Beard! We've been saying he's a bear for years, and as stingy as FE can be with facial hair this leaves quite the impact. Also, all three trailers so far have had a Dimidue moment, which is an unexpected delight. Interesting that now he's wearing both the earring and the medal, which I highly doubt will be commented upon although I always had the idea that the two were related somehow.

Felix - His most straightforward hairstyle, more Shinon than Navarre. I'm more interested in his outfit which takes so many cues from Rodrigue that it surely must mean something. My hope is that there's no cross-house recruitment and the routes are fully separated from one another, which would improve whatever minimalistic characterization this game has all around and also make the inevitable moveset clones less obvious. I can also guarantee there's going to be discourse about this, because everyone except me apparently has strong opinions on Felix. At least Dimilix got some time to shine here too.

Ashe - He looks more fem with the slightly thicker hair, and I'm not in love with his outfit. I think it's the added brown pieces making it less colorful.

Sylvain - Is more baby-faced than pre-timeskip which is odd, and while I considered him the hottest of the Lions before I'm less into his new hairstyle. He's still got the black with green highlights outfit combo going for him though.

Mercedes - Like the hair, like the dress, don't like that her voice is as breathy as ever. Oh, well...I suppose there's no changing that at this point. I do enjoy light mages so I'll probably like using her, even if mages in Warriors games from what I understand all play similarly only with different flashy effects.

Annette - Clearly designed for cutesy sex appeal which of course has zero effect on me; I think I prefer her FE16 post-timeskip look. Interesting that she's shown using an axe attack despite obviously being a mage.

Ingrid - Would be fine except for the hair. What even are those bangs?

Also, did anyone else note that the trailer doesn't identify these as the Lions but as the Kingdom of Faerghus? Here's to hoping the school portion of the plot will be a short intro before we can ditch that nonsense and stick to a standard FE (spin-off) plot.

Well, rare for the Slithers at least. Cornelia is the rare gem. The rest are pretty one-note and boring.

YES. No matter what Hopes does later, I'll always be so happy that it more properly addressed Duscur. They really did basically everything AM was missing out on, to be honest.

Didi is so cute for Dimitri. I'll have to pay more attention to her nicknames. That's a pretty endearing character trait.

I am LIVING for Rodrigue content in this game. He's such a dad and just destroying all this "he's abusive" "he doesn't care about Felix" nonsense.

If you ship Dimilix or Dimidue (or both like me) this route just keeps on giving. Catherine x Shamir and MariHilda also got turned up to 10. Ferdibert gets a lot of interaction too. Weirdly though Sylvix seems pretty much ignored despite how popular it is.

I love the Rhea crumbs we get. It's such a shame that she's basically nonexistant though.

Every time I remember Ingrid is dead when I play Scarlet Blaze, I just . . .want to put the remote down. I love Ingrid so much. It sucks. Like you expect maybe more main characters to die, but Ingrid? I thought she was safe. Where I'm at, another Blue Lion has died in SB too and it gutted me too. Then I come back to AG and all is well again.

Haha, yeah give Linhardt some of Dimitri's insomnia and Dimitri some of Linhardt's narcolepsy.

Dedue totally checks Dimitri's grammar. Imagine if Dimitri accidentally caused an international incident because of bad grammar.

I love all the little details we're learning about the Blue Lions in the support and how often they refer to each other.

I don't want to talk about Rodrigue wearing a red shirt. He's a BLUE Lion. Only blue shirts allowed.

I wish they went more into the whole personality stealing thing to be honest. Even with Monica, they did nothing with it. The real Cornelia sounds so cool too.

"Yet one can never predict what may lie on the other side of a violent, radical revolution." "Surely a dialogue is a more preferable to cold-blooded murder." Safe to say he'd never side with Edelgard.

Time to kick Cornelia's ass for the nth time! Never gets old.

Dimitri is sending Annette and Gilbert to recruit Baron Dominic. Felix is cautious and thinks killing him now is safest, but Dimitri insists on trying to recruit him.

Rodrigue says that they'd just promote his son if Baron Dominic died, so it's better to try and recruit rather than kill and kill.

Their army is spread thin because most are defending from the Empire.

Shez is like "you've all grown up, Dimitri." She's happy to see Dimitri at ease.

Arval called Shez and the others friends. 😭😭😭😭😭😭 Trying to get Shez to fight Byleth lamo. Arval is obsessed. Arval is suspicious af, not going to lie. Baiting Shez into doing what he/she? wants by going on about getting stronger that way.

Shez wants her purpose to be fighting for Dimitri and doesn't need to fight Byleth anymore.

So it seems like Cornelia asked Faerghus to rescue Patricia, so TWSITD planted Patricia from the start and manipulated the whole situation with Lambert. Patricia was likely faking the whole time.

Ashe isn't sure they can have a chat about things. But this is Dimitri, he always wants to invite people to talk rather than just war.

Dimitri put reconstruction of the Western Faerghus in charge of Gustave and Baron Dominic.

Glad to see Dimitri is still focused only on defense of the Silver Maiden and not land grabbing. I was worried because they have Claude go for it, which is entertaining as hell, but I'm a bit more protective of Dimitri lol.

I find it unusual that I've never come up on the anonmeme in reference to Dimidue. Instead, I get anons making vague references to my Ferdibert headcanons - by far the less controversial of the two ships. Who knows what the logic is behind that.

Technically I suppose you have come up with regards to Dimidue, just not by name. Awhile back there were some people bitching about how they hate Dimidue because we’re all “ship exclusionists” (pointing to Tumblr people in particular) and complaining about the Edelwank on Dimidue blogs (which I assume was directed at either me or you, probably you since you don’t separate out your blog content like I do).

The ship exclusionist thing being pretty nonsensical and untrue, considering basically everyone I know of on Tumblr that still regularly posts about Dimidue has absolutely discussed Dimidue in a poly situation at some point or another.

Anyways I assume you came up in reference to Ferdibert because Dimidue only really comes up on meme these days when people wanna discuss slutty, slutty Bottom!Dimitri headcanons or the Dimilixes want to ship war. Ferdibert is just bigger so people are more likely to have seen that content from you.

dimilix birthday cake I made for myself (my birthday isn't until sunday tho)

as usual the process of cake decorating was incredibly humbling 😂 I realize now if I want darker/more vibrant colors I'm going to have to invest in higher quality very dark food coloring for that color. it's really easy to make pastel colors but getting the level of dark promised is. uh. super hard.

also even though I used dimilix colors to decorate this cake.... I used an image where they don't even wear those colors 😂 it just felt wrong to match the screenshot tho

also this is supposed to be a heart cake but my silicone mold for it just doesn't hold the shape as well as a real pan so I've also learned that.

finally tho you can't tell I really have gotten the crumb cover process down now 👍 and cut off like 95% of the darker crust/edges so the interior will look nicer than it has before.

it's genuinely so wild seeing how a character's interpretation in fandom can be so affected by what someone ships. sometimes it's whatever, sometimes i cringe, but i swear with felix it's like... oh man if you don't think he's in love with dimitri i'm probably not going to enjoy whatever you have to say about him jsdkljfklj

i say this really genuinely because some of the best felix meta i've seen wasn't like "dimilix my 1 and only" but still acknowledged felix is in love with dimitri in some capacity. his character doesn't make sense without this angle and is prone to wild misinterpretations. he obviously has a deep love for sylvain and ingrid as well, but it's almost like they're the contrast and calibration for what he feels for dimitri. it DOES have an extra layer of something to it. each of these relationships do, but to different results.

with ingrid it's easily the most familial and fittingly despite their ending (and i feel like most endings should be disregarded because heteronormativity really wins out in fe3h [tho not so much in few3h]) they have the most platonic supports from these four, even counting sylvain & dimitri because at the very least you can argue dimitri's disinterest in women and annoyance with sylvain's womanizing can have a gay!dimitri slant. like. it's something. ingrid and felix are just 100% platonic. ingrid is supposed to be his sister-in-law and glenn being dead can't erase that this is the foundation of their relationship.

with sylvain, the dynamic is "odd" from felix's side and I suppose it's supposed to evoke their childhood. from's sylvain's side, it absolutely does. he brings up seeing felix as a younger brother in both games and likes to tease him. whether felix sees him as an older brother is debatable but i would say no because he already had one in glenn and he really idealized the kind of person glenn was while with sylvain he feels a lot of exasperation. the love there is more embarrassing for felix than anything else because sylvain is such an irritating person but felix does appreciate him and is protective of him.

dimitri though—dimitri brings out all the emotional breakdowns from felix. makes him forgive things that are a lot more heinous than being a serial cheater. they're tied together from the moment felix is born—before that even. felix rejects him for changing. for not being the boy of his childhood. yet, yet—felix is always waiting for dimitri to return to the right path. he thinks about dimitri obsessively and is obviously concerned for his well being. if dimitri dies his grief consumes him, even on AM. even on AM! his only happy route and he still will be fucked up by dimitri dying of old age. and this is just fe3h. few3h is just an entire parade of all the ways felix loves dimitri, including people (essentially) pointing it out. it's one thing to ignore it (i guess) but denying it is as ridiculous as denying dedue loves dimitri. felix loves dimitri just as much! i won't say more because this isn't a competition, just that it's as fundamental to his character as with dedue and is also a lifelong thing (truly—from birth to death). i think the denial people sometimes have is especially grating because his love of dimitri when they were children and then as they grow older is very set in stone. no tsundere decoding needed.
