"is it safe to be out this late at night?" diluc asks, frowning slightly as he stares at your hand tugging his.
"it'll only be a short while!" you smile at him; an attempt to encourage him. "besides, the spot where we'll be going doesn't have any hilichurls or whatever you're worried about."
he sighs. "are you sure? there could be anything in the dark, y/n."
"trust me." you grin.
with one last tug, he finally stops resisting.
currently, you're taking him to the place you've always ran to as a child when you wanted time alone. you've been coming less recently since you're busy, being older and all.
but now that you have diluc with you, why not introduce him to this secret spot of yours?
you smile, recognizing the scent of dew and the sight before you. after a moment of silence, you speak. "we're almost there, so hang on."
and you were true to your word. after a few more seconds of walking, you find the spot you've always rested in after a long day.
you tug on his wrist again. "come, the view is beautiful here," you say, leading him near the edge of the cliff.
yet again, you did not lie.
it was gorgeous. the grass danced as the stars adorned the skies like strokes of paint. the waters surrounding mondstadt glistened as the city stood tall and proud, glowing with lights as if they were stars as well.
the grass rustled, making diluc look down at his side.
you were lying on the ground, staring upwards. "let's stargaze."
he stood still for a moment, as if he was thinking, then lies down beside you, staring into the sky.
a comfortable silence ensues. the sounds of your breath and the occasional sigh, the waters below, and the wind were the only things you both could hear.
"it's amazing, isn't it? I always come here." you whisper, reaching out to the sky as if you were picking the stars out.
diluc looks at you, then back up again. "it's... yes. it's beautiful." he says, unable to describe it.
you laugh, propping yourself up with your forearms, and look at him. "do you know how much time has passed?"
his breath hitches, sitting up swiftly. you laugh even more at his response. he stands up and clears his throat. "shall... shall we go?"
you take his hand, getting up as well, looking at him with a wide grin. "yeah, let's go."
you both come back to the manor with multiple blades of grass on your hair. apparently, the only reason why you two couldn't see it was because it was dark out.
you stifle a laugh as you pick out the sticks and grass on his hair while he tries not to wince too much in pain.
"you really need to tame that hair of yours."
he sighs, staring at your wide grin through the mirror. "it's harder than you think."
well... at least the view was worth it.
