Madhubala (1933-1969) as Anarkali in blockbuster Mughal-E-Azam (1960)
fun fact : Maduhbala was an active philanthropist ! She donated to relief services for refugees from what was then East Bengal ( and is now known as Bangladesh ). She also donated to relief funds for the Jammu and Kashmir conflicts as well as children suffering from polio, earning her the nickname "the queen of charity" as she was called that by editor Baburao Patel.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Viswanathan Anand, Hector Berlioz, Grigoris Bithikotsis, Betsy Blair, Justin Currie (Del Amitri), Mos Def, Gary Dourdan, music curator & record store hero Greg Entz, Teri Garr, David Gates, Jermaine Jackson, Darryl Jones, John Kerry, Robert Koch, Dilip Kumar, Brenda Lee, Rita Moreno, Rey Mysterio, Carlo Ponti, Rachel Portman, Pérez Prado, Gilbert Roland, Nikki Sixx, Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, Hailee Steinfeld, Rider Strong, Hank Thompson & His Brazos Valley Boys’s 1952 single “The Wild Side of Life,” Big Mama Thornton, McCoy Tyner, Marie Windsor, and Carlos Gardel, the French-Argentine singer-songwriter/actor and legend of tango music. Together with lyricist-collaborator Alfred le Pera, Gardel wrote many classic tangos and was one of the most influential world music interpreters of the 20th Century. In 1935 he died in an airplane crash at the height of his career, becoming an archetypal tragic hero mourned throughout Latin America—where he is still esteemed in the same way Anglos regard John Lennon and Elvis Presley. Gardel was nicknamed "Carlitos", "El Zorzal" ("The Song Thrush”), "The King of Tango", "El Mago" (The Wizard), and other sobriquets, and he was saluted for his dramatic phrasing of lyrics. https://www.historytoday.com/archive/tango-made-flesh-carlos-gardel My tango-glam rock song “Love That’s Here to Stay” was partially inspired by Gardel. Even though he was a baritone and I’m a tenor, I hope I paid proper tribute to his neo-operatic vocal style in the last chorus. RIP Carlos, and it feels like you’re still singing in the sky...

In recent years, the Indian film industry has showcased the remarkable skills of Indian intelligence teams through a series of captivating movies. Films like "Baby," "Akbar Walter Romeo," and the recent release, "Mission Majnu," have shed light on the daring adventures of Indian Intelligence operatives. Adding to this trend, Bollywood's action hero, Vidyut Jamwal, has now brought another fascinating story to the big screen. Disney+ Hotstar Set to Premiere IB-71: Vidyut Jammwal Takes Center Stage Vidyut Jamwal's latest movie, "IB71," delves into the perilous operations of the Intelligence Bureau of India during the Indo-Pak war of 1971. Although the film received a lukewarm response from audiences upon its release, Vidyut took the opportunity to explain the significance of the title and the plot. He clarified that "IB" stands for Intelligence Bureau, the Indian secret service, and emphasized that there hasn't been a movie centered on the IB until now. "IB-71" showcases the agency's paramount undertaking during the Indo-Pak war of 1971, as India's secret service fearlessly confronts the formidable alliance of China and Pakistan. https://twitter.com/DisneyPlusHS/status/1672489462872387586 Significantly, "IB-71" signifies Vidyut Jammwal's foray into film production, marking his debut as a producer. The actor has launched his production company, Action Hero Films, with the aim of providing a platform for actors who often have less prominent roles in films. The streaming rights for the movie were acquired by Disney+ Hotstar, which has announced that the film will premiere on July 7. To enjoy the intense drama unfolding on screen, viewers will need a subscription to the streaming platform. Read Also Adipurush OTT Release: Amazon Prime Video Secures Digital Rights The official trailer of "IB-71" provides a tantalizing sneak peek into the film's storyline. When Indian Intelligence discovers a grave threat posed by Pakistan and China, indicating the possibility of imminent attacks, they find themselves caught off guard. In response, IB agent Dev Jammwal devises a tactical plan to protect the country by effectively cutting off Indian airspace, thwarting this impending danger. Directed by Sankalp Reddy, the film is produced by Vidyut Jammwal, Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, and Abbas Sayyed. The screenplay is written by Sankalp Reddy, Vasudev Reddy, and Arjun Verma. Alongside Vidyut Jammwal, the movie features talented actors such as Anupam Kher, Vishal Jethwa, Niharica Raizada, Dilip Tahil, and Mir Sarwar. Official Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-V9tu8rqWIg As the release date approaches, anticipation grows for "IB71." With its focus on a lesser-explored aspect of Indian intelligence history and the promise of gripping storytelling, the film aims to captivate audiences with its intense and patriotic narrative. Today I've watched Mr. Rajat Sharma's show on India Tv ....and today he was recalling about his memories with celebrities whom he invited for Aap ki Adalat show...in that he spoke about many actors like...Salman Khan, Rajesh Khanna, Sunny Deol, Dharmendra ji, but the most interesting 🤔 people I found were Shahrukh Khan sir and Dilip Kumar sir....as in...he said..
He first met SRK by chance on airport...then he came to him and start talking about some lady cleaning the floor..them in flight also he talked to me about some interesting topics and we became friends and when leaving from airport in his car he said he is my driver now but before me he was driver of Mr. Rajesh Khanna and this car of mine is also of Mr. Khanna... I want to come in your show Aap ki Adalat and I want some more people to know me because I want to be a superstar like Mr. Rajesh Khanna...and then I (Rajat sir)...called him on his show...
This whole thing made me feel like.... here I learnt some things...no literally...he did a lot of things...like really.. hmm🧐🤔🤔...
Then my favourite Mr. Dilip sir...he said that Dilip sir discussed a lot about the show with him but they were never able to record it... because the discussion never ended..😂😂...❤️✨...

FILM QUOTES/ IN HINDI CINEMA
Ramchandra Keh Gaye Siya Se (Gopi)
Film: Gopi, Year: 1970, Singer:Mahendra Kapoor, Music: Kalyanji Anandji, Lyrics: Rajendra Krishna, Actors: Dilip Kumar, Saira Banu, Om Prakash, Pran
youtube
It will be so, it will be so.., God Ram had said to Sita (before he left), such a dark time will come, (when) swans will be feeding on seeds in the dirt, (and) crows will be eating pearls.
Sita asked God, In dark times, will nobody believe in the right way of living and consequences? to which God replied, There will be a way of living, and its consequences, however, there will be no shame, in every matter, upon mother and father, the son will show an evil-eye (and tell them what to do). (Meaning: Instead of the parents controlling the child, the child will control the parents.)
The king and (his) subjects, in both, there will be continuous tug of war, at every step they will both, do whatever their hearts desires.
(Meaning: Everyone will want to be the boss working above the law. There will be no hierarchical structure (sump-prathista). Neither the King nor his subjects will obey the law, they will do whatever they please, whenever they please, living above the law.)
The one who wields a stick in hand, they will win the argument.
(Meaning: Arguments and disputes will be settled by force and violence. The most violent will prevail, whilst the peaceful will suffer under their subjugation.)
Listen Sita, in dark times, there will be black money, and dark hearts.
(Meaning: Evil minded people will have no qualms getting rich quickly from immoral activities, however those trying earn through honest and decent means will struggle throughout their lives.)
The boss of the town will be the biggest thief lifting everything, and (true) worshippers of God, will remain in poverty.
(Meaning: During the dark times, the needs of the one outweigh the needs of the many. Officials such as town mayors and prime ministers, who are supposed to be serving under the people, for the people, will have private planes carrying suitcases of money to secret Swiss bank accounts. Paradoxically, they will have money that far exceeds their official salaries... These crows (and their crow friends) will be living the high life on ill-gotten gains, whilst people of god (swans) will be poor and starving.
Those who are greedy and lost in materialistic pleasures, they will be called saintly men of god.
(Meaning: There will be many self-made gurus pretending to be swans (men of God), but actually they are just crows.)
The temples shall be completely empty, (whilst) drinking-houses shall remain full. Together with her father, in a full audience, dances, a young daughter of his house., Where is the fathers charity of giving away his bride daughter?, instead, he lives on her money.
(Meaning: A good father usually gives away his daughter (kanya) in her wedding ceremony as charity (daan), which makes the goddess laxmi happy, who then returns this gesture with more prosperity for the daughters future. However in the kali yuug, a greedy father uses his daughter for money. The father neglects his most important duties to his children, which is to ensure that they are educated and married so they have prosperous fruitful futures of their own. Instead, he uses their time and money to go on an ego ride. He squanders their futures and inheritance, and even gives it away to worthless charities just to appear big in society.)
Friendships of fools is bad, triumphs of gamblers is bad, sitting in the company of bad people, your happiness always runs away from you.
(Meaning: If you associate yourself with poor quality people, then your life will have no happiness.)
In the lamp room, however much precautions you take, you will always be stained by the ash brother.
(Meaning: In this world you are surrounded by temptation and it is difficult to remain clean and untainted.)
No matter how high cast some are, how much holy some are, company of debased (people) always awakens debased deeds. Hey listen Gopiram said, (In the dark times) he who has a (good) name and does (good) deeds, will always have a hangman’s noose placed around his neck brother...
(Meaning: A person of good character is always destroyed by the evil types, whilst evil characters always prevail and succeed in life.)
“The problem with the world is that the intelligent people are full of doubts while the stupid one are full of confidence.”
— Charles Bukowski

Tribute 851.
Tribute to Director, Writer and ProducerB.R.Chopra 851
Today, I am going to pen a tribute to another memorable writer, producer, and director of Bollywood — none other than the late B.R. Chopra of B.R. Films. Known for his immense respect and image in the film fraternity, B.R. Chopra produced many iconic films and gave the world the unforgettable TV serial Mahabharat. He directed several remarkable films, each marked by his unique directorial touch. The films I have seen and truly appreciated include Daastan, Pati, Patni Aur Woh, Kanoon, Dhund, Humraz, and Karm. These films were all notable, and each showcased his mastery.
In Daastan, the legendary Dilip Kumar's performance played a significant role in its success. Kanoon was another masterpiece from this director. Pati, Patni Aur Woh was another successful venture, which starred the talented Sanjeev Kumar. Playback singer Mahendra Kapoor's association with his films added an unforgettable musical charm. B.R. Chopra worked with wonderful technicians in his unit, including his cinematographer brother, Dharm Chopra, and his director brother, Yash Chopra.
His serial Mahabharat made a landmark impact on Indian television, and it is not an exaggeration to say it changed the small-screen industry. The late Rahi Masoom Raza's contribution as the dialogue writer for the serial was invaluable. Mahabharat also gave Bollywood some memorable actors, including Mukesh Khanna, Punit Isar, and more.
B.R. Chopra produced many successful films, including Waqt, Dhul Ka Phool, and Chandni Chowk. Baghban is another testament to his storytelling genius. The three Chopra brothers — B.R. Chopra, Yash Chopra, and Dharm Chopra — dominated the B.R. Films banner and left a lasting impact on Indian cinema.
B.R. Chopra was awarded the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the highest honor in Indian cinema, for his contributions. Even though he is no longer with us, the B.R. Films banner continues to fly high on the Bollywood map. Today, I am happy to pay tribute to this legendary director
K.Ragavan
