Wtf bullshit is this. Bcz shes loved by a man she cant be loved by God? oh god loves everyone? Whts prompting him to keep her womb closed then? Oh his divine plan? I should totally just shut up and listen to tht, right? ._. W my closed womb? ._. Like gxrllll biblical narrative b riling me up ... w its hegemonic masculinity. Theres nooo "prosperity" for rachel at this point in the narrative which makes her realtionshop to jacob non-egalitarian bc jacob has what she does not , prosperity. [prosperity being coded for sexual virility/fertility in this story. this is what is revealed to jacob in his dream; and jacob's story , which can be read as a heroes tale , is taught institutionally to be a good example of faith..] this story which lauds the faith of men, and positions the reward of faith as sexual prosperity, excludes women from this same reward .. in fact the "reward" of men is the 'concubine', the belief in the justified right to dismiss the humanity of the womb which one impregnates , fulfilling ones "prosperous" destiny... within this narrative jacob is a hero capable of fulfilling his destiny, though he is arguably a misogynist . This narrative ("The Bibleβs original love triangle: Jacob, Leah, and Rachel") is esp insensitive to pregnancy , which is fascinating, bc in a biblical love narrative w a female protagonist, id hypothesize the maternal role would b emphasized , leading to narrative arc abt pregnancy impacting the woman's relationship to those around her.. yet in this narrative of the biblical luv triangle, leah's pregancy is simply a footnote which affirms jacob's fulfillment of his "prosperous destiny," and thank god!!! thank god! for the destiny which suits the patriarch! as for the matriarch. leah's pregnancy is unimportant save for its affirmation of the default masculine. I doubt masculinity should be associated so directly with divinity, that god's pronouns are "he," that god's biblical heros are figures like jacob, not leah, not rachel. the divine response to women is punishment, in this narrative, an inability [physical fertility] where a man [jacob] is so clearly able and positioned as prideful in such ableness. jacob creates life with leah, though leah is said to be "unloved," and rachel is said to be with "womb closed." BIBLICAL NARRAITVE IS UNFAIR TO WOMEN... obviously. Yet i,m still seduced by its beauty ;P I Def have some shame considering im attracted to something tht feels exclusionary = ......................
