I had forgotten the book ending, and I know why.
Was that... last episode... really necessary? XD
(Ok I won’t begin another rant about romance and romantic ’love’ closing almost every stories i come accross xd. But seriously guys if all you needed was just two teenagers to kiss under the tree, you could just grab two in any worlds, with crushes on each other, without all the mayhem and adventures xd.)
The last battle was super great though! And His Dark Materials characters are still as satisfyingly whole and complex as ever~
My favorite will probably forever remain the first book (bcs child nostalgia xd), but the show really was great, and, rare thing for an adaptation, managed to fix a lot of the issues the book trilogy had (the abrupt and total change of atmosphere + character introduction between book 1 and book 2-3 *cough* *cough*).
So this show is truly an amazing success! Good quality fantasy and loads and loads of daemons, yessss!!
(I refuse to ever settle though :p. I don’t care that I’l supposed to be an adult. I won’t settle. I dare you to force me :p)
Cried to His Dark Materials again...
this story and its ending just gets me yall...

Aslaug, Siggy and Helga for the character meme
Aslaug
do I like them: Lol, I don’t think I need to answer this one.5 good qualities: She’s courageous, motherly, diplomatic when it comes to her kingdom, wise and tenacious.3 bad qualities: She’s very insecure (she went through a lot so idk if we can blame her for it but she is) and entitled (though I do think that changed as time went on, she was so… defeated towards the end) and she was probably an alcoholic though she seemed really well functioning.favourite episode/etc: 4x12 was really great for Aslaug, it had a lot of important moments and I loved itotp: Aslaug x Harald because that should have been a thing!!!brotp: Aslaug and Thorunn really got me in the feels, I wish they had kept that as a thing.ot3: Aslaug x Siggy x Helga AND NOW THEY’RE ALL GONE TT.TTnotp: Fucking Harbard and Aslaug should not have happened once, let alone twice.best quote: Her verbal smackdown of Lagertha’s invasion in 4x14 was perfect.head canon: She grew up in the court of her foster-father heimr, who never stopped telling her stories of her parents (because this Aslaug clearly didn’t grow up in poverty) though he died before she married Ragnar. Which is good for Ragnar because Heimr would have gone to war if he heard about how badly Aslaug was treated.
Siggy
do I like them: Yes, I love her, she’s a true queen.5 good qualities: She’s clever, strong, and politically savvy. She’s also… like, she may be slow to trust someone (for good reason) but once she does she’s fiercely loyal and protective.3 bad qualities: She oscillates between being too straightforward and too vague with her words sometimes. She can also be quite cold sometimes, but it’s not for a lack of compassion. IDK, I’m having a hard time coming up with bad qualities for her. I’ve said it before, but for all the coding the show and the fans did of her as a “scheming woman” who got “redeemed” (FOR WHAT) she really didn’t do anything wrong and she was in most cases, just a woman in a difficult position constantly.favourite episode/etc: Oh god, hmm, well… I think 2x02 or 2x03? Like, can I just say those two episodes? Because that stretch I think was really great for showing us some of her inner complexities, from her conversation with Aslaug to taking up arms to fight on the beach.otp: … Rollo x Siggy in like the weirdest way, because I mean… she did so much for Rollo, she propped him up so many times. Like, before the show went for a very literal interpretation of Floki/Helga as Loki/Sigyn, Rollo/Siggy were the Loki/Sigyn of the show. It’s in the promo, with Siggy throwing out the bowl of poison. It made me sad how Clive in an interview was like “Siggy was just out for herself” because, no she fucking wasn’t, if she was she would’ve dropped Rollo’s ass after his 2nd crisis. brotp: Siggy and Lagertha in season 1&2 were nice, but equally I love how straighforward she was in her friendship with Aslaug.ot3: ^^ See my answer to the Aslaug sectionnotp: Rollo/Siggy - I told you it’s a complicated relationshipbest quote: “ I want my old position back. I am bitter and I am angry. Everything I had, everything I possessed, everything that I was has been stripped away from me. And my anger is like a stone… A stone that I carry inside me that… Weighs me down. I… I cannot lift it. [In some ways, you are still fortunate. Ragnar could have had you killed at the same time as your husband.] I am supposed to be eternally grateful to my husband’s killer?” I don’t think we realized how complex and wonderful Siggy was till we lost her.head canon: She’s drinking and living like a queen with her family in the afterlife, it’s canon.
Helga
do I like them: Yes, of course, she’s such a cupcake of a person!5 good qualities: She’s kind, generous and openly loving. She’s deeply empathetic and understanding of everyone.3 bad qualities: I mean, her season 4b storyline… I know she was really suffering but just like with Aslaug(’s insecurity) and bb Siggy, we can’t ignore the affects she had on others. She completely ignored Tanaruz’s personhood and kidnapped her away and just, did not help her at all. favourite episode/etc: 2x07? Her wedding to Floki was so pretty and I loved how happy they were.otp: Floki/Helgabrotp: … Helga and Aslaug? I’m not sure, Helga kind of got turned into wallpaper who was disconnected from everyone except Floki in season 4.ot3: Season 3 was so awful for giving me Helga x Aslaug x Siggy for like 3 minutes and then TEARING THEM AWAY FROM ME.notp: Ragnar/Helga… I saw some people talk about that because of Ragnar’s scenes with them in 4x11 and just… no.best quote: Her goodbye speech to Floki was really beautiful and sad.head canon: Helga goes off into the woods alone sometimes for her “me” time, or into Kattegat, where she has a whole bunch of friends that we never see.
