Shinobu's mask now has purple/red/gold decals and more emphasized fangs. her jacket is longer, covering her back up to the hem of her pants (though the open jacket still leaves her midriff bare at the front). the left shoulder of the jacket is also falling off the shoulder a bit, leaving more of that bare shoulder exposed. the short shorts have been changed into hakama pants, with loose legs that are pulled to a taper at the shins, in a color scheme/style matching the original stockings. shin guards over top the pants match the style of the original thigh guards.

YIPPIEEE this one was fun. not the shin guards, but the rest of it was fine lmao. apologies for not transferring the guards perfectly accurately, some of the shapes frustrated me, especially on the rotated right leg. just don't look too hard, lmao

btw, sorry if "hakama" isn't the right term for these pants, but that term kept popping up when I was looking for "samurai-style" pants, though other reference images for hakama look a bit different to me? maybe they're just worn differently in this style, but please correct if I'm wrong haha

anyways, I started this project with the pants in mind, like usual, but I'm actually most proud of the mask this time! lemme zoom in for ya

the original mask is solid black, with a few subtle red decals to the far sides of the mask. the "nose" bit is an angular, dull bronze diamond, and the "teeth" are just a simple, jagged line bisecting the mask horizontally. darker black half-circles to either side of the teeth suggest a gaping jaw.

the redesigned mask has more decorative red/purple/green decals surrounding the different features. the red nose now has a pronounced, upturned nose shape, with nostril holes for breathing. the gold teeth are now distinctly carved as well, with large, curved, overlapping canines, and small, simple incisors. the darker black half-circles to the sides still give the teeth a gaping impression.

Shinobu's original mask is just sooooooooo boring, y'know? very disappointing for a member Arataki 'Numero Uno' Itto's very important gang-- esp considering the man himself is, literally, an Oni. so I took inspiration from real Japanese Oni masks and gave Shinobu some big honkin' teeth, hehe~

He has a thousand masks and he wears all them accordingly, like costumes or branded high-end suits. When their usefulness runs out, he fabricates and commissions new ones. Better ones, more fashionable ones, discarding the old. Blending into the setting and the scene akin to a chameleon, fooling everyone. People simply jot it down to him being versatile and knowing how to mingle, socialize and schmooze like the charismatic billionaire business tycoon he is. Goes with the territory, right? Thing is, when you meet Terry Silver, you aren’t certain if you met him or someone else. Some other part of him. Some other aspect of him, not unlike Janus, the two-faced God. Or some part he isn’t at all, and is merely conveniently pretending he is. Next time you run into him, he might not be he anymore. He would’ve shed his skin, like a snake. He’s a different Terry Silver now, still carrying the flesh of the old. When you shake his hand (if he allows you to shake it at all — if he deems it worthy), you shake the hand of a mime.

A war still rages on inside of his mind. The labyrinthian, winding vestiges of his brain are crowded with carnage. Blood. Fire. Screams. Napalm. The jungle. He’s pristine on the outside, like a diamond. Full mega-watt smiles. Glee. Taunting. Jokes. Firmness. Calculation. Seduction. Non-chalance. Feeling as safe as Carnivorous plant before it snaps shut around you, devouring you, fly that you are. He’s taught himself how to do it. Trained himself so nobody knows. So nobody sees. Maintained perfect, immaculate control, dissociating bits and pieces of himself. It never ends, though and Terry’s a gaping, walking, living, breathing wound. More war and than man. Sometimes the war comes flooding through in waves of wrath and violence and in moments like that, Terry Silver’s terrible to behold, incarnating all he’s seen and all he’s suppressed.

He feels too much. Carries a devotion so vast inside of him it verges on an abyss that cannot be filled, threatening to consume him whole like an infinite hunger. Do you want him to kill for you? Hide the body? Make a display? Cause pain. Make everyone suffer? Make them bleed? Set the city on fire? Deal out unholy vengeance? He will. Oh, he will. He loves, you see. This is how the great heroes of the old days loved too. They’d murder and maim for the favours of those they admired, while man was still primal. Feral. Animalistic. Unhinged. Terry is too. Few people love as he loves. He’s dying breed. He imagines himself not unlike a Samurai falling on his blade for loyalty and camaraderie, licking the sword clean of his own blood with a cackle and a grin and uttering a prompt; Take it. It is yours. I’m a good soldier for you. A good warrior. But, few people love as Terry loves. Few people are as devoted. As full of desire. As brimming with discipline.

In equal measure, few people cause pain as Terry causes it. There’s an intimacy to it, not unlike sex. A sacred tantric ritual of agony. The ministrations of a torturer and a lover becoming one, blurred lines entirely fading away. He causes you deliberate, strategic ache and his teeth instinctually dig into his lips, nostrils flaring, gleeful bedroom eyes on full display, lips crooked in some sort of sadistic, orgasmic delight as you cause yourself distress. He likes it. Likes to see it. Likes to conduct it. Likes being the architect of your own undoing. As you undo yourself and he could come undone from it. From witnessing it unfold. He’s no Vampire, no Incubus, but he might as well be, the energy of your agony feeding him until he grows large and bulging, like a black, vibrating cloud, living in the back of your mind forever. His heated whispers reminding you of how much you loved what he did to you. It was done to him too once, he says. He’s learned to love it too. You’re not so dissimilar to him, are you? You’re kin.

He stole someone’s face once and he’s wore it ever since, as a battle trophy. Picked up his mannerisms. His way of speech. His quirks. His body language. He even styled his hair in the fashion this deceased, haunting spectre lingering inside of his mind once did. He transformed into the man. He became a soldier boy that died decades ago. He turned himself into his own dead friend. It became a second lifeline. A second self. And then, Terry stopped for a long, long, long time, wearing his dark hair loose until it turned grey. Until he stopped looking similar to the person. Terry Silver going silver. It hurt the entire time. Like a handicap with mangled limbs attempting to walk without crucks. His joints aching. Bones pained. The voice of the dead screaming out to him that they still wish to exist. Wish to be witnessed. Wish to attach themselves to the world of the living. Slick back your hair, Terry, the past demands. So, Terry does.
