Diamonds were made differently than other gems. Of course they were. They were different than other gems, after all. Larger, more powerful, closer to "perfect" than any lesser gems could ever be.

First of all, a diamond was planned more meticulously than other gems. Quartz, peridots, rubies, they were manufactured rapidly and with little thought given to the gems as individuals. Diamonds, however, were planned and created by other diamonds with specific traits in mind. They were crafted meticulously and with the utmost care. A diamond had to be perfect. They couldn't risk an off-colored ruler. What example would that set to the other gems? And what would it look like to them to be under the rule of someone so flawed? They would begin to question the Diamond Authority and chaos would ensure.

Like other diamonds, their newest addition, started under ground, the specific mixture of minerals injected beneath Homeworld's crust. A diamond must be born from her home, even if creating one could be a huge drain on their planets resources. It was worth it, though.

A diamond was closely monitored, even underground. Just before she was ready, hundred of years after her implantation, she was pulled from the ground, robbed of such a trivial thing as bursting forth from the dirt like lower class gems. Diamonds must be perfect, after all. They couldn't risk her coming out...off. Instead, they finished her themselves, insuring perfection. The new gem was placed in a machine that would drill tiny holes into the surface of her gem, washing her in a solution that would deep into her very core and ensure every part of her came out perfect. The Diamond Authority took no risks, cut no corners when bringing another diamond to life. Which was why they were all surprised when Pink finally formed, centuries after her implantation.

A bright light inveloped the new gem, a gem that had been perfect under White, Yellow, and Blue's individual inspections. Light morphed into the shape of a body, the pink diamond-shaped gem twisting until it settled upside down. Suddenly, a tiny pink form stood before them, frills at her hips and pom-poms on her shoes. She was too small to be a diamond, not too much bigger than their best quartz soldiers, but when she opened her eyes, head tilting back so her gaze could land on their features, her pupils were shaped in the way only members of the Diamond Authoruty's were.
