Shu met Angelica and her son when he was only four years old, and he immediately grew a liking to the both of them.

Whenever Shu was free of his studies when he turned nine, he'd usually spend his time with his older half-brother Akira (13-14) and his friends, whether it was practicing hunting or going into town with Angelica and a guard as supervision.

Beatrix didn't mind Shu spending time with Angelica, since she thought she was a lovely and respectable woman. The only time they'd have problems was when Angelica would "interfere" with Shu's studies.

With Beatrix's permission, Angelica became Shu's music instructor, and his lessons would coincide with Akira’s, Kanato's, and Laito's. Shu was even gifted a violin by Angelica for his birthday to greaten his passion for music.

Angelica was also the only one to be introduced to his human friend, Edgar, as he trusted her to keep it a secret. Angelica approved of his friendship, and would also bring toys and other fun items for the boys to play with whenever the two would meet. Shu also introduced Edgar to his older stepbrother, since he also was able to keep a secret.

When Edgar was moving, he gave Shu his puppy since he couldn't take the dog with him, with Shu promising his friend that he'll take care of him. When Beatrix discovered the dog's existence, she tried to have the dog taken away so Shu could focus on his studies and to be his father's proper successor. Angelica was able to intervene and convinced Beatrix to allow her to keep the dog until she can get in contact with one of her brothers. Shu was grateful, and helped take care of the dog until Angelica's brother Camilo was able to come and take the dog home.

When Edgar's village set aflame, Angelica and Akira did their best to keep Shu away from the flames so that he didn't get hurt. When a flaming tree branch and a piece of debris collapsed on top of her, Shu and Akira used all their strength to get rid of the debris and quickly got back to the Sakamaki mansion to help her. After coming up with a convincing lie to tell Beatrix and the others, Akira helped his mother Angelica recover with his knowledge on medicine while Shu attempted to make her chicken soup like she and Beatrix would whenever he was sick (after Beatrix taste-tested it): though his was basically just hot water with boiled chicken: he's nine years old and has no cooking experience after all. Angelica still appreciated it though.

When Angelica fully recovered, she'd notice that Shu became more withdrawn and apathetic. Concerned for his well-being, Angelica had a talk with Shu and learned that this occurred after Edgar's death and because he worried about her well-being after the fire: she ended up with burn scars on her back. After the talk, Shu's new apathetic nature didn't really go away, but it wasn't as bad as it could have been.

After the incident, Shu would often be found taking naps in Angelica's room since he likes it in there: he claims it's warm and comforting.

Likes the smell of her perfume (it's peppermint) as he finds it comforting.

Reiji Sakamaki 💙

Reiji didn't really know how to feel about Angelica at first. His birth mother Beatrix was still alive and well, and he worried that Angelica would be like Cordelia, the triplet's mother. However, this changed when he had an accident on the stairs and scratched his knee, and Angelica helped him up and used medicine to help his scratch heal faster. After giving him a bandage and drying his tears, Reiji's opinion on her changed into something more positive, he even asked her to stay with him for a little bit until his mother came back from visiting her parents.

Like with Beatrix, Reiji would challenge himself mentally to try to impress Angelica when he got older. Unlike with Beatrix however, Angelica paid attention and praised him for being so smart and for reading things that are advanced for his age. This allowed him to see her more and more like a mother, but he'd still wish that Beatrix would give him attention.

Even though Reiji wanted to be treated like a grownup when he was a kid, the bespectacled boy still liked to have Angelica read to him at night.

Reiji especially liked to help Angelica with cooking meals and baking desserts. He was even her little taste tester. His favorite dish of hers was pozole (not sure if this is accurate given the way the brothers dressed in their youth).

When Reiji snapped from Beatrix seemingly preferring his older brother Shu (which was false), he decided to play a little joke and try to scare him and his human friend Edgar with a small fire. However, the fire got out of control and set the whole village ablaze, possibly killing Edgar and his family. While Reiji was running away to get back to the mansion, he saw what happened with Angelica when she saved Shu from harm's way. Even though he wanted to go back and help, Reiji feared that they'd put two and two together, so he went back to running away. He has kept this a secret since then.

After the incident, Reiji had also helped Akira with making medicine for Angelica's burn scars to help her get better faster. This helped prompt his interest in science and experimenting, other than hearing of what his father was capable of doing.

Ever since the day of the fire, Reiji would in a way start clinging to Angelica more than his birth mother: he'd practically become her little shadow, other than Subaru anyway.

Reiji likes borrowing her old books from time to time, especially if they’re short story collections.

He has gone hunting with Angelica, Akira, Angelica's brothers, and her father Gabriel whenever he comes to visit: Gabriel even taught Reiji how to properly use a rifle and to shot his prey.

Ayato Sakamaki ❤️

Ayato was only three when he met Angelica. This was due to his mother Cordelia not wanting her eldest to interact with Karlheinz's new wife, but she was a little less lenient with Kanato and Laito. In order to make sure that Ayato would stay away from her, Cordelia told him that she was a mean woman who would try to replace her, and since this was before Cordelia's mistreatment and abuse would begin, Ayato had no reason to doubt her.

When Ayato turned three, he managed to sneak away from his mother and witnessed his younger brothers playing with Angelica, making him a bit jealous that Kanato and Laito had more freedom, but he was also worried that Angelica would harm them, so he sneakily walked up to Angelica and attempted to get his brothers back. But he ended up tripping and falling to the ground, accidentally hurting himself by twisting his ankle. Angelica noticed this, and after getting his permission to carry him, took him to the mansion so she could get the family doctor to help him, with Laito and Kanato not too far behind. Initially, Cordelia accused Angelica of harming Ayato with the hope that Karlheinz would kick her out and divorce her, but the triplets' were able to explain what happened, meaning that Angelica wouldn't be punished.

After that, Ayato would often try to find ways to sneak away from Cordelia so that he could play with his brothers and Angelica. Angelica knew of Ayato's situation with his mother, so she and Ayato's older half-brother Akira would help by distracting Cordelia so that Ayato could take a break from his studies.

Ayato sees Angelica as the mother he always wanted. She'd take care of the cuts and bruises he'd get when he played around too hard, she'd make him special soup whenever he got sick, she'd make him laugh, and she'd always comfort him whenever things with Cordelia would get too intense.

When Cordelia would punish him by throwing him in the lake and leaving him to drown, Angelica or Akira would always save him in time and take care of him during the aftermath, which was always Akira distracting Ayato while Angelica and Cordelia yelled at one another.

Ayato and his brothers would go to Angelica whenever they have nightmares, which ends with her either singing them a lullaby so they'd go back to sleep or with her allowing them to sleep in her room if they were still scared: which often got awkward if Karlheinz decided to pay Angelica a visit for "quality time".

Angelica would also help Ayato with his studies, and he likes doing this with her than with his other tutors since she'd explain things to him in a way he'd understand.

He absolutely adores her cooking. In fact, Angelica is the reason why he loves takoyaki.

Once called her "mom" by accident: luckily Cordelia wasn't around for that. But after Angelica told him that it was fine, he'd continue to call her "mom" in secret.

Ayato likes to hear stories of Angelica's youth, especially of her adventures with her younger brothers. Turns out she was a lot like him when she was younger.

Kanato Sakamaki 💜

Kanato, like with Laito, was able to interact with Angelica early on since their mother Cordelia was more focused making Ayato Karlheinz's successor that she'd barely pay attention to the others.

The purple haired boy wasn't quite sure what to make of Angelica and her son Akira, but he was very much curious about them.

Kanato would often follow Angelica around the mansion in secret: whenever she'd turn around to see who was following her, Kanato would quickly hide himself. This quickly turned into a game to him, and Angelica found out about it immediately when her son Akira told her about what Kanato was doing, though she thought it was rather cute and funny than creepy.

Eventually, after six weeks of playing this game, Angelica would finally reveal that she knew about Kanato following her around, and assured the boy that she wasn't mad with him. Kanato felt relief about this, and he quickly decided that he liked her.

Since Cordelia wasn't as lenient with Kanato and Laito, this allowed the young boys to bond with Angelica and Akira quickly.

Kanato particularly liked to play dress up games with his stepmother, often wearing some of her son's old clothes from when he was his age.

Regardless, Kanato still wanted his birth mother's attention, so he'd often do things to himself in the hopes that she'd drop everything and take care of him. Though Cordelia didn't care and thought it wasn't important, Angelica rush to him with tears in her eyes and take care of him immediately. Seeing that someone had finally paid attention to him, Kanato stopped hurting himself and from then on, became very attached to his stepmother.

Angelica is the only one he trusts to hold and talk to Teddy, his stuffed bear. She’d also make Teddy some clothes on Kanato’s request.

When Cordelia realized that Kanato had a beautiful singing voice, she had him sing for her as entertainment, with her calling him her "little songbird". While Kanato was happy that his mother was paying attention to him, unfortunately she'd make him sing until his vocal cords bled, which caused him immense pain. When his stepbrother Akira learned of this, he immediately went to his mother, and Angelica nursed Kanato back to health and made sure to keep him by her side.

However, Kanato's love for his stepmother comes with a dark side. Whenever he sees someone flirting with Angelica and making her uncomfortable, Kanato would kill them and turn them into "dolls", which is what he'd do to his birth mother Cordelia's lovers whenever she got bored with them. Unlike with Cordelia however, Angelica was never the wiser with what happened to her unwanted suitors.

Calls Angelica "Mama Angie" as an endearing nickname. This was something that the rest of his brothers would begin to do as well.

He'd sing for Angelica as well, though she'd remind him to let her know when he's tired, since she doesn't want him to overexert himself.

Like Reiji, Kanato enjoys being Angelica's taste tester whenever she's in the kitchen, though he's more fond of her baking. His favorite treat that she makes for him are churros.

Laito Sakamaki 💚

Laito thought Angelica was really pretty and rather intriguing, since she seemed to have had a whole life of her own before she and her son Akira joined the family. When he learned of the tragedy of her first husband's death, Laito thought that Angelica was rather strong to continue on after going through something like that.

He'd also join in on Kanato and Angelica's dress up games, and was also comfortable with cross-dressing, as he'd wear the old dresses Angelica had from her youth. Laito would also wear her perfume since he thought it smelled nice.

Angelica also encouraged his interest in learning to play the piano.

Like with Reiji and Kanato, Laito still wanted his birth mother's love and attention even though he was quite happy spending time with Angelica. Though Angelica didn't blame them, why would she? It is natural for a child to want their mother's love after all.

It made Laito even more frustrated since his brothers had their mother's attention in certain ways: Ayato with his studies and Kanato with his singing.

Unfortunately, Laito would be sexually abused by Cordelia. Laito wasn't really sure of what was going on, but he knew that he didn't like it. However, he hesitated to tell anyone about what Cordelia was doing to him, since he felt some shame in what was happening and didn't want others to know about it, believing that they'd be disgusted by him.

One day, Akira noticed that Laito had smelled of Cordelia's perfume and that he had peculiar bruises on random parts of his body. Laito made him promise not to tell anyone, especially Angelica or Karlheinz, about it. While Akira agreed at first, he'd later on convince Laito to tell Angelica, promising him that she wouldn't be mad at him as it wasn't his fault. With Akira promising to be by his side the whole time, Laito gathered up the courage and told Angelica of what happened.

Angelica managed to control her rage after she learned the truth, and after having Laito checked by a physician and having him rest (with Akira staying by his side), she confronted Cordelia and slapped her in the face, calling her a "vile witch" for what she did to her own son. As the two fought, Laito was awoken by the screams and wanted to see what was going on, but his stepbrother told him to just go back to sleep and that everything would be sorted out in the morning.

The next day, Laito learned that Karlheinz was informed of the situation, and he feared for what his father would do to him. Instead of him being punished, Laito learned from Akira that Karlheinz agreed to punish Cordelia and have the triplets placed under Angelica's custody if the pink haired woman would do something for him in return in the future. While Laito felt some relief, he worried about what kind of "favor" his stepmother would have to do for his father in the future.

After Cordelia's punishment was over, Laito would avoid her like the plague and stick to Angelica, which didn't even phase the purple haired woman, in public anyway. This bothered Laito for some time, but he'd remind himself that she never loved him or his brothers to begin with, and she didn't deserve their love anyway.

Like his brothers, Laito likes Angelica's cooking. He especially likes it when she makes him macarons, which are his favorite treat.

Once, Laito accidentally spilled a bottle of Angelica's perfume on a carpet. It was stained so badly that no matter how many times the maids washed it, it forever smelled of peppermint. Laito (and all of his brothers) would lay on it whenever he missed Angelica when Karlheinz would have her leave the mansion.

Laito's relationship with Angelica is similar to Lishu and Aduo's from "The Apothecary Diaries": like Aduo with Lishu and the previous emperor, Angelica would protect Laito from Cordelia's awful treatment. Though unfortunately, unlike in the series, Angelica was a bit too late in putting a stop to it since Cordelia had already started the abuse before Angelica learned of it.

Subaru Sakamaki 🤍

Subaru is the reason why Angelica is here to begin with, in a way.

When Subaru's birth mother Christa became mentally unstable after he was born and was locked in a tower, Karlheinz had Angelica care for the infant vampire as Christa was unable to do so herself.

This created an actual mother-and-son relationship for Subaru: since he spent a majority of his time with Angelica and because he didn't meet his actual mother until he was six years old.

In fact, Subaru thought Angelica was his birth mother this whole time since she was the one to raise him and take care of him, and whenever he saw pictures of Christa around the house, he simply assumed that she was just a relative that he got his looks from.

It wasn't until Karlheinz told Subaru the truth: that he was given to Angelica to look after since his mother Christa couldn't. He also said that Angelica only looked after him as a "favor", implying that she didn't care for Subaru the way he thought she did. Subaru thought his father was lying, but when he learned from Angelica that it was the truth (her not being his birth mother), he was devastated.

However, after having a talk with Angelica, Subaru understood why his stepmother did what she did, but he was still sad that he never got to meet his birth mother and that she was kept a secret from him.

When he did meet his birth mother, he had mixed feelings about the whole ordeal: Christa was at first happy to be reunited with her son, but whenever her "episodes" began, she would yell at her son and beg for him to kill her, which Subaru obviously didn't want to do. When he refused, Christa would call him a "filthy monster" that ruined her, and would tell him to get away from Angelica (her childhood best friend) before he ruined her too.

When Angelica learned of what was going on, she then decided to accompany Subaru to ensure nothing would happen to the boy, since she really did see him as her son and didn't want him to get hurt.

After learning that Karlheinz is the reason Christa is the way she is now, Subaru began to view him as the enemy and started to protect Angelica from him in any way he can. This made Subaru Karlheinz’s least favorite child for a while.

Even though Subaru doesn't care for human food, he does enjoy Angelica's cooking every now and then.

Has a pretty good relationship with Akira. The older boy would help Subaru with practicing sword fighting and other things.

He enjoys riding horses with Angelica.

Subaru once gave her a bouquet of yellow and pink roses for her birthday: which symbolize appreciation (pink) and joy (yellow).

This is a short post made to honor one of my favorite characters from Diabolik Lovers, there aren't many headcanons about it like in my previous post, but I hope who are reading this enjoy it~

Shin doesn't like to make a big deal out of his birthday, but his brother Carla insists on throwing him a grand celebration every year.

The Sakamaki brothers and Mukami are invited, but Shin doesn't seem too pleased about it, but he accepts it anyway.

Shin requests that all of the desserts at his birthday party include some kind of nuts, such as walnuts, almonds, or hazelnuts.

Shin may use his birthday as an opportunity to assert his dominance over others. He may demand that his subordinates or family members attend a lavish birthday party, where he can revel in their adoration and obedience.

Despite his protests, Shin secretly enjoys the attention and extravagance of his birthday party.

If Shin chooses to have a birthday party, he asks that his brother Carla attend the party, both as a sign of respect and as a subtle reminder of their ongoing rivalry.

Carla always makes sure to give his brother a special birthday present, despite their complicated relationship.

Shin enjoys receiving gifts from his loved ones, but he rarely asks for anything specific.

His familiars often surprise him with small gifts and gestures, like organizing a special training session just for him.

Shin enjoys indulging in his favorite foods and drinks on his birthday, allowing himself to relax and enjoy the festivities.

Ayato accidentally broke an expensive piece of artwork, causing Shin to become furious and demand that Ayato leave the party.

As a way of redeeming himself, Ayato was forced to clean up his mess after getting into a physical conflict with Carla and losing the fight he started himself.

His familiars planned a surprise for him, but they are terrible at keeping secrets and end up spilling the beans to Shin by accident.

One of Shin's familiars creates a prank gift for him, which ends up exploding confetti all over him when he opens it.

Kou and Laito teamed up to cause chaos at the party, and ended up spiking the Carla's drink with vampire cider.

Shin's brother, Carla, who is usually very serious and reserved, gets drunk and starts telling embarrassing childhood stories about Shin to everyone.

Shin tried to get rid of his brother, but it didn't work. Laito and Kou kept asking Carla a lot of questions about Shin, hoping he would say something embarrassing.

Carla tells a shameful story of Shin's childhood and this generates some funny situations.

Kanato is known for his love of creepy dolls, so he may have given Shin a custom-made doll that resembled him Shin. It may have been beautifully crafted, but also had an eerie quality to it that made others uncomfortable.

While Kanato wasn't looking Shin discarded the doll.

Reiji is the most practical and organized of the Sakamaki brothers, so he may have given Shin a gift that would help him stay organized or improve his appearance. For example, he may have given Shin a new leather-bound planner or a set of high-quality grooming products.

Shin is offended by Reiji's gift because he thinks the vampire is discreetly implying that he is somehow slovenly, but in the end he really likes the gift when he tests it the other day.

Azusa gifted Shin with spicy nut candies, which resulted in something quite funny when Shin tried one of the candies.

Kou gave Shin a glass eye as an alternative to his eye patch, because particularly for Kou, the idea of wearing glasses over an eye patch makes no sense at all.

Laito brought a stripper to the party as a “gift”, causing Shin to feel uncomfortable and embarrassed,

That wasn't Laito's real gift, later that day Shin found a box of nutty sweets under his pillow, next to this box, there was a note talking about what happened with an ironic tone.

Shuu has given Shin a gift that reflects his own love of relaxation and sleep: luxurious silk pajamas and a high-quality comfortable pillow.

Ruki presents a custom-made leather-bound journal with Shin's initials carved on the cover, filled with blank pages for Shin to document his thoughts, basically a diary.

Yuma presents Shin with a walnut sapling, he controls himself a lot not to show enthusiasm, but his tail wiggles so much that everyone can see his happiness.

As a gift, Yui brings Shin a basket of assorted nuts from around the world. Shin excitedly samples each one and declares his favorites.

Subaru bring a gift for Shin, but it may not be wrapped nicely or thoughtfully.

He keep a close eye on his brothers to ensure they don't cause any trouble.

Subaru refuse to participate in any party games or activities and make plans to leave as soon as possible.

As the night wears on, Shin and some of the other guests start a friendly competition to see who can crack open the most nuts using only their bare hands.

Shin's birthday cake is a rich chocolate cake with layers of hazelnut buttercream and chopped hazelnuts on top:

One of the party games involves a “nut hunt” in which the guests have to search for hidden nuts around the mansion. Shin is especially good at this game due to his love of nuts and his keen sense of smell.

Despite his initial reluctance to even have a birthday party, Shin found himself enjoying the attention and gifts from his family and friends.

Shin is secretly pleased that everyone went along with his preferred theme and that they seemed to enjoy themselves as well.

Overall, Shin is left feeling satisfied but also a little restless, as if he's waiting for something else to happen.

When Shin woke up the next day after the party, he found Carla sleeping next to Shuu, who had slept in random corners of the Tsukinami mansion for most of the party.

Apparently, Carla was so drunk that he didn't care or didn't notice Shuu sleeping there.

This was a little idea I had to celebrate the birthday of this character so loved by me! Also, some things may not make sense because I made this post in a hurry, anyway I hope you enjoyed it~

Kinktober announcement! MDNI

Alright, as of Kinktober, any request in my inbox that isn't horny, will have to wait after Kinktober. Other then Basic Instinct and TWP, all of my releases during Kinktober will fit in with the month's theme. If you have any nice prompt list, do tag me! started writing: oh jesus. probably around 2014, 2015? when I was in middle school for sure though. I remember my first ever published fic was a birthday gift for a friend on wattpad..... please don't look at me right now. but yeah, that was where I got my start in writing I suppose, reading and occasionally writing diabolik lovers fanfic (please kill me)

started blogging: definitely in 2013. I heard about tumblr from a friend who was very into the furry community and my first (now-deleted) blog was an anime blog. my current main (meganecentral) is one I've had since december 2016 (!!!)

followers: last I checked, some 1000-odd followers on my sideblog. I find that focusing on how many followers you do or don't have is super detrimental to not just your health, but also your craft. I've seen absolutely brilliant writers and artists on here and twitter/xitter destroy themselves because they keep pushing out more and more and more content in the hopes of increasing their follower count, at the detriment of the quality of their work. seriously, it really does not matter that much; this is tumblr.

communication: I'm..... okay? I guess? with communication. I don't really reach out to other blogs (because anxiety + my primary method of communication is discord), but I also don't turn people away if they want to speak to me either. I'll leave comments in the replies or tags of fics I like and I'll respond to anything sent in my dms/inbox, but beyond that.... I guess I tend to limit my communication on tumblr to people I consider my friends? like syn and alt

likes: like followers, I don't think likes or reblogs are indicative of anything more than "hey this thing is cool". there's plenty of fic on Tumblr that I'll leave a like on, and then share the link with my friends on discord or add to fic recs. for my own stuff.... it doesn't really matter because I primarily post for myself to begin with. if others like it, they like it. if they don't, then that's that

requests: absolutely not hdhdfhjsdkfg for one I work way too slowly to consider taking up requests (and I have limited time in the semester to begin with). rather than requests, I'd rather have people just pop into my dms or inbox to share brainworms! that way it feels like more of an exchange of ideas back and forth, not one person demanding work from another (something I see happen too much when writers open requests)

writing: oof. very slow. I stopped writing full time pretty much in... 2021? when I started college because im a full time student for 3 semesters a year (spring, summer, fall). I actually purged a lot of my pre-2020 work from here because it just.... didnt fit with me anymore? so I felt uncomfortable leaving it up when it no longer reflects me as a writer

when I do write it tends to be more a stream of consciousness, where I just 'see' the scene I want to depict, and write it. 100% cannot write unless im very inspired or in the mood for it. for me, I like my writing to be emotive, so I'll spend more time trying to understand the character personalities and settings of what I'm trying to write. I've also been told (by others) that my prose focuses on picking a single or a couple emotions in the scene, and then working the writing around those emotions to highlight them, which makes sense.

my writing process is... piecemeal. it comes together when it strikes me, but I tend to write little scenes here and there that I then tie together into a cohesive, overarching unit (even for one-shots I do the same by writing in bits and pieces out of order and pulling them together). it helps me with not getting stuck in the "what do I write next" mindset

Behind the scenes of a Tumblr Writer - Tag Game

Hey there, I love behind the scenes and since this is something that's rarely talked about, let me start the chain... if you feel uncomfortable with a question, just skip it. You can add some if you want as well.

Started writing: I wrote my first Harry Potter fanfic at age 10. Started posting around 15,16 years old. I'm now 31, so...

Started blogging: I started on a German fanfiction site around 2010/11 I think. Might have been earlier too, but back then I was mostly reading, no posting. I really started when I got into One Direction (very late, tbh)

Followers: Currently at 961, which is wild to me. I don't even know that many people IRL. I convince myself that half of them are bots tbh, so I don't freak out all the time.

Communication: The people I talk to regularly are: a few writers who answered after I constantly reblogged and commented on their works and a few people who commented and reblogged my work. Writing and blogging on here can be pretty lonely, depending on your personality and the time you're active (I'm from Europe and a lot of my followers seem to be living in Northern America, so there's the Timezone thing) ... And I found that the best way to strike a conversation is to reblog, comment, and to not be shy. I do wish I got more asks, though....

Likes: I actually filter them out. I have 793 original posts up at the moment. It doesn't give me anything to know how many likes a fic has other than to tell me which characters are liked more than others or maybe that one fic does especially well. My activity only shows me comments, asks, reblogs with tags, and answers to my own asks. I live for the tags and the comments.

Requests: I love talking to people about ideas. That's how I started the plotbunny game because I have so many ideas and so little time. And sometimes an idea just doesn't want to be written out fully. Requests are fun because YAY, I get some mail... but then I freak out because I don't really know how to write this NOW and then I freak out because it's been a week already, two weeks, wait, two months? I'd rather have suggestions where people tell me vague things like "I'd love to read something about this side character" or "Have you ever considered this character with a soulmate trope"? because then I don't have the feeling of failing the request when I write it a little bit differently.

Writing: I am a fast writer. I know that's one of my talents. I can churn out a oneshot of 1k words in less than an hour. People read slower than I write. That can suck sometimes because you've just posted this and you want to know what people are thinking but they're not as fast as you are. I do have a lot of ideas. I want to write constantly but my brain doesn't always want to. I am trying to respect that.

There are also certain things that I just feel wrong writing. I cannot write anything suggestive (I also don't like reading it) and everything past that gives me panic attacks. I can hardly write mean characters and jealousy feels so wrong to me that I cannot write it. I've also overdone it with the soulmark trope and now I feel like everything I write about it feels lifeless.

I write best in the mornings before going to work, but I don't have much time there. I don't need special music (but it helps), but I need to have at least some energy left and at best, no distractions. But I have been writing for over 20 years, so I will say experience helps a lot.

“Guess I will have to wait until after our next grocery trip then. …Although I’m sure you’ll give me an earful about the importance of saving money.”

He plops down on the couch.

*Rustle* 

“Yeah, yeah. I know I exaggerated a bit just now. However, you can’t deny that you’re always being very mindful of our spendings, aren’t you? ーー Come on, don’t just stand there. Join me on the couch.”

You sit down next to him.

“While we’re pretty much settled here, there’s still plenty of things missing. However, I don’t think that means we have to abstain from everything. So tell me straight away if you feel troubled, okay? I’ll make sure to arrange the things you want.”

You look up at him.

“What’s wrong?”

You explain. 

“Ahー You’ve been holding back because you remembered that? Well, you’re right when you say that we didn’t have it easy back when we had only just moved in here. We had to build our own home from scratch after all. The thing we struggled the most with was money for food. I can’t let you starve to death, so that’s one thing we have to ensure we have enough of.”

You apologize for causing him trouble. 

“Haah…? What are you saying? I don’t see it as troublesome in the slightest. You followed me here to this place because you had faith in me, so I’m obviously going to try my best for you in return? So I won’t let you take such a servile attitude towards me. All you need to do is thank me, okay?”

You express your gratitude. 

“Mmh! You’re welcome!”

You bring up the Ghouls. 

“Yeah, exactly. We have to express our gratitude towards the Ghouls as well. If it weren’t for them, we would have been at a complete loss. ーー To be honest, I was doubtful at first, but right now we’re somehow managing, so those days we struggled might have been worth it in the end. I doubt my past self would have been capable of admitting that though. I think this is all…thanks to you?”

You become flustered. 

“Hehe…No need to be so modest! However, just like you said, I do think that everyone’s aid is what helped support our current life. Buuuuutーー No way I’m ever telling them straight-up.”

You seem confused.

“Why not, you ask? Isn’t that obvious? Don’t make me have to repeat myself.”

You chuckle. 

“Especially to Yuuri. You never know how that guy will react. We’ve known each other for a long time after all.” 

You tilt your head to the side. 

“Even back when we were both kids, he’d tease me ever so often. ーー So keep this a secret from the others, okay?”

You nod.

“Mmh. That’s a promise.”

Kino gets up from the couch. 

“Ah, speaking of which…It’s already been a year since we came here, hasn’t it?”

You tell him that it flew by in no time.

“Exactly! Time sure flies by…There were so many things we had to do after all. I wonder how things are going over in the human world right now?”

You wonder about how different things could be now.

“Mmh. Unlike here in the Demon World, they’re much more susceptible to change. If you were still living there, you might have been busy around this time of year as well.”

You suddenly become lost in thought.

“Hm? What are you thinking about?”

You explain. 

“Ahー I heard that there’s many set events and ceremonies in the human world. Did you remember those?”

You seem surprised by Kino’s knowledge. 

“Excuse me? Don’t underestimate me. I know about those as well. There’s the flower-viewing in Spring and the festivals in Summer…Also Halloween and Christmas. See? I’m well-versed, aren’t I? …Ah! There’s this thing called ‘birthdays’ as well. In the human world, there’s a lot of events which are linked to the celebration of one’s birth, right? The hinamatsuri (1) and coming-of-age ceremony are just a few other examples, no? On top of that, birthdays as well…You humans sure love to celebrate, don’t you?”

You ask Kino when his birthday is. 

“Eh? My birthday…? Are you curious?”

You nod.

“My birthday, you see…Fufu. I won’t tell you~ It’s a secret.”

You puff out your cheeks.

“Your birthday is just the day on which you were born, right? It’s honestly nothing special, so why does it matter?”

You beg him.

“Eeeh~? You want to know that badly?”

You nod.

“Hmー Let me think…Right. Fufu. I just had a great idea. …If you’re so insistent, I’ll make an exception and tell you.”

You smile brightly.

“However, there’s one condition. ーー You have to throw me one of those ‘birthday parties’ exactly as I would like it. If you can satisfy me, I’ll consider telling you. What do you say?” 

You ask if he will tell you his birthday then.

“No, I never promised I would, did I? I only said that I would consider it. If you fail to impress me, we don’t have a deal. When that happens, you’ll have no other choice but to admit defeat.” 

You promise you’ll try your best. 

“Yeah, yeah. Give it your best shot.”

You nod enthusiastically. 

(mumbles) “Ah-aah…Look at her all fired up. Oh well, I suppose this will make for some fine entertainment.”

“Oh no, nothing. I am just excited to see what kind of birthday party you’ll put together for me. Well then…It’s settled, right?”

You nod again.

“Guess I have no other choice but to help out as well then. I’ll take you to the perfect place to hold this party.”

You seem surprised you’re not holding the party at home. 

“I wouldn’t mind holding it here, but if we’re gonna go through the trouble, I see no harm in moving to a different location as a nice change of pace. Soーー”

Kino lifts you into his arms. 

“Here…I’ll carry you in my arms. (2) You like it when I do this, don’t you? We’re going there like this, so hang on tight, okay?”

You ask where you’re going. 

“Our destination is still a secret. However, it’s an amazing place. You’ve got something to look forward to when we get there~”

Kino walks away.

(1) Hinamatsuri is a Japanese festivity which takes place in March. It’s also sometimes called ‘girl’s day’, since it’s only celebrated by females. Young girls are commonly gifted special dolls which are supposed to represent traditional court women from the Heian Period. 

(2) This is called お姫様抱っこ or ‘ohime-sama dakko’ in Japanese, which literally means ‘Princess carry’. Definitely fitting for Kino, since he often refers to the MC as ‘Princess’.

Kanato's Birthday Mun Musing

Surprise!

I also did not plan well for Kanato's birthday~ I'm literally a whole day late! (insert angry Ayato for taking his day)

So, I decided that I would just muse about Kanato in general~ We will look at a few of my favorite officials and rave about how much I adore this character.

A note that this will purely be based on the limited bits I have been able to read of the games and the CGs themselves. I do not claim to be an expert - I just wanted to rant about how much I really like Kanato.

Everything will be below the cut, due to length and general themes throughout the post. Feel free to comment or send in your thoughts about the great purple monster.

-Diabolik Lovers ~Haunted Dark Bridal~

Two of my favorite CGs for this boy! (Clearly, I got recreations done for Yuuki!) I think that something I was really draw to with Kanato through the first game was his growing presence over the heroine. Despite him being the shota, he forces his will upon you - the least likely one to look dangerous (unless you see the crazy behind he eyes).

When I started this blog, Kanato wasn't really my favorite boy. Sure I adore a good shota - like high key they are like one of my weaknesses, I love them bratty and young (that sounds really bad - im not a creep!). Yet, when I was looking for a fit for Yuuki, who originally was a self insert, Kanato helped her grow into more than that. Through him, Yuuki was able to become her own character - apart from myself.

It's crazy how that ended up happening, similar to how Kanato takes over your life in the game. He's like this creepy little jerk face - who literally bullies you into falling for him.

Diabolik Lovers MORE,BLOOD

Second verse is the same as the first. More Blood gave us more of the overwhelming Kanato presence - but this time- with someone he hates. I adored - ADORED - the fact that Kanato cannot stand Azusa. I think that was such a great idea, considering how Azusa is - and it makes total sense that the - cant wait for pancakes guy - would be annoyed with the character that talks slowly.

I also adore how the ending and after stories are so tender. Kanato gets a new teddy and it's just the cutest bear (honestly surprised I didn't give that to Rini, but Bunny is life). I like to think this new Teddy still sits in Yuuki and Kanato's room even as adults. He just sits happily in a chair, Kanato still greeting him each morning.

Diabolik Lovers Vandead Carnival

The first game to give us some vampire fun - and the most holiest of CGs to grace the DL fandom (personal opinion) with the Sleeping Vampires. I. Cannot. With. Any. Of. Them. That was the most adorable idea they have ever come up with - to this day - and I just love all of them.

This game we got to see Kanato kind of mature up - I feel? Like every CG really has him in control. And not necessarily in a toxic way. Idk just something about his energy. Which is all completely off set by his adorable sleeping CG. OH MY GOSH~ If there was ever a weakness for me - it would be sleeping. I find that so cute and innocent and you can just see the pureness of a person based on their sleep.

There is also an adorable chibi winter CG and Kanato kills me! While everyone else is like interacting and being butts to one another - he and Teddy are just sloping in the back. It cracks me up.

Diabolik Lovers DARK FATE

Kanato is so sweet in this game - like relatively speaking. Anytime I get to see him defend the heroine I loose it. Whether he admits to it or not, it always warms my heart. We also get to see sweater wearing Kanato fight his dad - which is a funny image to me.

I loved the tenderness of his CGs this game. The ending ones were in direct references to the ones in More Blood, where Kanato held her. Now she is holding him. The look of security on his face! I love seeing him feel at ease.

That was kind of the theme I got from Dark Fate for him. He was able to be at peace - no matter the ending. Whether it's through being with you or being dead - the boy can rest easier.

Diabolik Lovers Lunatic Parade

More mindless vampire dates! I loved just being able to enjoy Kanato's company. Going on actual dates - even if that mean falling out of something. Again, seeing this softer side of Kanato is nice. I like that he wants to be around you as much as possible.

He wants to be there, and to be present. A lot of that is due to abandonment issues, but it is so cute to see. He genuinely looks happy, like he is enjoying himself, and that is what matters to me. I love the extra CGs as well. I did not think Kanato knew how to cook? Or maybe he doesn't he is just playing with the tongs. The pool one is precious - he looks like he wants to be splashed too.

Diabolik Lovers LOST EDEN

Kanato kind of feels like a ticking time bomb. Like, he had been so kind and gentle these past few games since the first. Then all of a sudden they were like - oh yea, he's crazy. You can kind of see it in Yui's and his face in most of the CGs, that it's just a matter of time before he snaps.

I have not seen or read anything really from Lost Eden, and these CGs really feel disconnected from one another. Nothing seems to flow or like they belong to the same game - other than the crazy look in Kanato's eyes. The crepe ending is super cute though - it's literally everything I ever want from an outing with Kanato.

Diabolik Lovers CHOAS LINAGE

Another one I don't know too much about - just that its an alternate story line where the siblings are all mixed up. Kanato in this game has back a lot of his uneasiness - but not like to the unstable level that it was in - say- Haunted Bridal. He just looks like the youngest brother who is trying to prove himself.

In this game his siblings are now; Ruki, Shin, and Ayato - do you see his dilemma? Ruki is super smart. Shin and Ayato are both loud and out going - Kanato is just the baby trying to prove he can be like his brothers. Because, unlike Azusa, who is happy to be with Ruki Yuma and Kou (similar vibes), Kanato does not like being over looked. He wants to be noticed. So, that is the vibe I get from him this game.

The Anime

While not the best - the anime version of Kanato is still wickedly adorable. I am happy that he is so involved in season one, as the anime mostly focuses on the triplets. I think they do a good job of showing off just how much of a little monster Kanato is. Whether its smacking coffee or falling off a balcony.

Misc. Merch.

The more I see this boy - the deeper I fall in love. He is so adorable I can't stand it. They always make him look so needy and hopeless~ or bratty and yandere.

For him not being my favorite when I first got into the series, he has come a long way. I always have to stop myself from just buying everything Kanato I can - because he is just that cute. I know a lot of people are put off by him - but I am a sucker for a lil baby who just needs love and validation.

He’s a pervert who loves his partner’s displeased expression more than anything, and the more she hates him, the more things escalate.

Q. In this game’s Present from Sakamaki story, the Sakamaki brothers surprise the heroine for her birthday. If you have experience in being surprised in a similar way, please tell us the impression that left on you. Or, have you ever devised a plan to surprise someone yourself?

A. I’ve had plenty of surprise birthday celebrations thrown for me while doing events. One time—I don’t know whether it was meant to be a surprise for someone or an event though—I sang along to the ‘happy birthday’ song with some people, and then I suddenly noticed that they were singing my name... That’s happened to me as well. But still, it made me really happy.

Q. This question will be about the ‘sleeping together’ scenario in this game. Do you have any recommendations for pillows to sleep comfortably? (For example, a memory foam pillow, or a health pillow.) If you happen to be very picky with pillows, please tell us.
