Ok so last post on this matter and then I'll hopefully shut up till the match tomorrow. It was inevitable, we all somewhere knew that Dhoni will step down as captain but let's be honest we all were in denial. It just seems so unreal, MS not being the skipper? Especially for CSK? Crazy. He also did it in the most Mahi-est way ever like he always does, quietly letting the CSK and IPL handle announce it, a literal day before the season begins and without any fuss or theatrics but yeah it won't be the same anymore. Not seeing him walking down at toss time or anticipating his post match with Harsha (that's what I'll miss the most ngl 🙈), it will be hard to digest. It's the end of era, the Dhoni-Rohit-Kohli era which was basically our childhood, it feels like yesterday when the holy trinity were captaining their respective teams and now no one is the captain anymore. But MSD will always be CSK's leader, he'll always be our Captain, our Thala and there's quite no one who'll be able to live upto his reputation and legacy. It is quiet understandable why he was so emotional during the finals last year, why he showed so much emotion when he is usually stoic because knowing him he already would've known that it was his last season as captain. His career has been a whole circle, he started as a long haired wicketkeeper-batsman and he'll end his career in the same way, his first trophy as a captain was a T20 cup and his last was also the same, but it would be all the things he did in between that'll define him, that'll be his legacy. And lastly huge congratulations to Ruturaj, we all knew that he will be our next captain and he'll also get the opportunity to work as a captain under MS which is a lot in itself. He has huge shoes to fill and it won't be easy in any possible way but we as CSK fans stand behind you Rutu, best of luck for the journey ahead 💛
#i had lot's of feelings and opinions on this matter#especially since they announced this A LITERAL DAY BEFORE THE FIRST MATCH#but well that's ms#cricket#somi.exe#csk#ms dhoni

India's T20 World Cup Triumph 2024
"Dhoni finishes off in style, It's India who win the World Cup." These lines said by Ravi Shastri had gone old with respect to India's World Cup Trophy drought. The most dominating team in bilateral series could not win an ICC Trophy and this was the biggest disappointment for ICT fans. After losing the 2023 world cup final, the first thought which came into my mind was that most probably 2024 t20 wc would be the last world cup Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will play together. So, this was their only chance for a world cup glory and they did not gave us a feeling of dismay, sadness and disappointment but an year full of cherishing memories, joy and happiness
India won the T20 World Cup 2024 happening in the USA and West Indies. They became the only team to win a world cup staying unbeaten. Their journey to the final was a happening one from the high pressure game against or the game against Australia. Especially, the game against Pakistan was a sheer representation of the evolution of Indian team's pace battery in the last decade. From 98 percentage of winning the match with Pakistan our pace battery broke their dreams of winning a game against India as they took the game from them in the last 10 overs. From the first game to the last one, India never looked a under confident or worn out team as they dominated everybody they faced badly. One such win was against Australia in the Super Eight which was personal for every Indian citizen ( If you know what I am talking about). Rohit's knock in that game was the indication of the frustration he had in himself after every knockout loss in every world cup in the last 5-6 years with more respect to 19th November. Then comes the Semifinal against England and that transition from 10 wicket win to 10 wickets out was outstanding. The game was one sided as soon as England completed their powerplay during the batting stint. Every cricket in the team was hungry of that silverware. So, they never looked back to the losses they had been facing but focused on their race to the unmatched legacy of winning a World Cup Trophy. The final was the best which could happen in an ICC tournament. It was not a cricket match a display of every emotion one can imagine in a game of cricket. India set a target of 177 and defend for India seemed easy until Klaseen smashed 24 runs in the 15th over and his team needed just 30 of 30 balls. India's pace attack pulled off a blinder from that stage by first Bumrah giving an economical over and then Hardik took the wicket of Klaseen to shift the momentum of the game on his side. The hidden hero was Arshdeep Singh who also pulled of two brilliant overs at the right - one in the middle and the other in the death. Last over consisted of South Africa requiring 16 runs and Hardik had to defend them. The first ball was a full toss indicating the pressure Hardik had with respect to his last 6 months. Miller swung his bat so hard but could not get the middle and it was the sticker that touched his bat but it was enough to go to the boundary but not above it as Suryakumar Yadav caught the ball and fancied India's chances to get the silverware.
Virat Kohli was in tears and Rohit Sharma lied down to celebrate their undermining hard work in the last decade and the last time in this format. The pair decided to announce their retirement from T20I's together after getting their hands on the silverware. Looking back to their world cup triumph I see a roller coaster ride filled with emotions of joy, happiness and satisfaction. The trophy weighing 12kg which they lifted had made 1.3 billion people happy back home which they expressed through lighting firecrackers and doing individual parades. India became the first cricket team to win a T20I world cup unbeaten displaying their want to get hands on the trophy badly and they gave everything for it. We also gave everything for it and got the result back paying the debt of our worshipping to the team from the last 17 freaking years.
Ravi Shastri's lines were replaced by the ones - Long on, Long On and what a catch, Suryakumar takes it and Miller's gone !!!!!!!!

The Butterfly Effect
'Does the flap of a butterfly's wings in Brazil set off a tornado in Texas?' The infamous question posed by Mathematician Edward Lorenz tried answering what the Butterfly Effect is. While the world still contemplates the impact of small events in one system on the consequences it can have on another, let me take you on a journey of what I believe was my life's butterfly effect.
It was the night of the 2nd of April 2011, the night of the ICC world cup final. With millions of eyes glued to the television screens, the six-year-old me was busy in his world. Completely unaware of the context of this particular match, he tried all the possible ways to convince his grandpa to change the channel to his favourite cartoon. With all efforts leading to no result, the last resort was to sit silently and observe. Little did he know of what was to follow.
As I continued watching the last few moments of the match with utmost disinterest, something unusual happened. As M.S. Dhoni launched that winning shot into the night sky, the bubble of silence burst. The noise of people shouting at the top of their voices and the sound of crackers settled in the atmosphere. The whole vibe around me turned festive. With my mind in a complete state of confusion, another incident followed. The camera panned to Dhoni's face and then his 'twirl of the bat' celebratory action. All of it played in slow-motion. That moment still stays fresh in my memory. The emotion in his eyes and the attractiveness of the simple celebration had caught all the attention of a six-year-old. I glued myself to the television screen, curious to see what would unfold next.
Moments later, I heard this line, "He (Sachin) has carried the burden of the nation for 21 years; it's time we carry him on our shoulders." Said by a 23-year-old Virat; It gave me a hint that cricket was much more than what went on the pitch. I took my eyes away from the television and stepped onto my balcony. To my surprise, the streets were flooded. Flooded with people. At that time of the night, usually, it was silent enough to easily hear even a whisper; but that night was different. It looked as if the world had come to a standstill. All because of a single incident. I went back that day to sleep with a question. 'What is it in sports that people are so strongly affected by?' 'What is it in Sports that unites so many people?' What is it in Sports that evokes such strong emotions?' And that question kickstarted a journey, a journey of exploration.
Over the years, I spent hours and hours watching and observing sports of different kinds, with my primary interest area being cricket. Around age 11, I took to playing badminton. The training sessions, the effort, the discipline, and the competitions told that what's seen on the field is just a miniature reflection of what goes beyond it. It gave me the opportunity of looking at sports from another lens.
The Off the Pitch stories are a lifetime treasure for me. They have become a source of learning. They have helped me understand the joys of victories and the sorrows of losses. Uncovering behind-the-scenes narratives has revealed how powerful emotions are. Going off the pitch made me think beyond the usual and added perspectives to my thinking.
And all of this started because of that visual captured in the eyes of a six-year-old. What if that day did not turn out the way it did? Well, that's the Butterfly Effect for me!

IPL: Ravindra Jadeja Openly Reveals CSK Issues As He Takes Subtle Jibe At Fans Behaviour
Ravindra Jadeja has posted another cryptic remark on Twitter. The fans are quizzed after what Jadeja posted on Social Media after CSK vs GT IPL 2023 Qualifier 1.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/07c16911a35b55b7dcc42c00067e3852/b57dc091b63aefa8-8c/s540x810/f8ca0224ae4a30c3cf308d72cb35ad34241c1d26.jpg)
While MS Dhoni is responsible for the outright dominance of Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League, the consistency showcased by the franchise stalwarts over the years is also another major reason. And when it comes to consistency, then only a few could compete with the utility and balance that Ravindra Jadeja has rendered to the team over the years. Jadeja is a prominent member of the CSK squad, however, off late Jaddu has been posting some cryptic messages on social media making fans speculate whether there is a tiff brewed between CSK and Jadeja.
Following last week's "Karma will get back at you.." Ravindra Jadeja has posted another cryptic message on social media, leaving the fans quizzed regarding who is these posts directed at. Jadeja, who took away the Most Valuable Asset award from the CSK vs GT Qualifier 1 used the award to transmit a statement that he believes some fans are sleeping on. Jadeja won the award after playing vital cameo innings of 22 runs, with the help of which CSK posted 172 on the board. CSK emerged victorious by 15 runs and via the victory reached the final of the IPL 2023. Chennai Super Kings will await the winner of Qualifier 2, where Gujarat Titans will play the winner of the MI vs GT eliminator.
Ravindra Jadeja posts cryptic message on social media yet again
Some fans think Ravindra Jedaja is not happy in the Chennai Super Kings camp, whereas some think there is a tiff with MS Dhoni, however, nothing concrete can be stated as the player has been posting cryptic tweets off late. Jadeja wrote, "Upstox knows but....some fans don't". Here's the latest post by the CSK all-rounder.
Earlier, Jadeja Tweeted the following. The post also garnered attention on social media. and now another addition has caused further worry. Here's the post.
“When I bat at 7, the crowd is disappointed and chant for Mahi bhai. Imagine if I bat higher; they will just wait for me to get out,” Jadeja was quoted as saying in the post-match presentation ceremony after the match against Delhi Capitals. So, while Ravindra Jadeja seems irked with something/someone, what could it be is anybody's guess. And these posts only make the mystery deepen. What do you think is the case, is something serious brewing in the CSK camp?

But today there is only one thing on the minds of the fans in Bengaluru, and that is the possible last dance of the "MahiRat" bromance on the cricket field.

Neither Virat nor Sachin but this former player has fame as the richest cricketer in the world
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is the richest cricket board in the world today. Today Indian cricketers also get big contracts. Even at the domestic level, players get good contracts. But do you know who is the richest cricketer in the world? Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni or someone else, today BCCI provides everything to the cricketers. Even in the IPL, Indian and international players definitely get some big contracts. In the history of IPL 2023, Pat Cummins had the highest bid. This year Rishabh Pant has got a contract of 27 crores in IPL. You might be surprised when you hear that Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni are not the richest cricketers in the world.
This title goes to Ajay Jadeja. The former Indian cricketer was named the heir to the Jamnagar Royal throne of Gujarat some time ago. Announced by Maharaja Jamsaheb of Nawanagar during Dussehra, Jadeja inherited wealth worth more than Rs 1,450 crore. This further connects the Jamnagar royal family to cricket as the Ranji Trophy and Duleep Trophy are named after Jadeja’s relatives, KS Ranjit Singh and KS Duleep Singh. Nowadays Ajay Jadeja does commentary during matches. He was last seen doing commentary during the Test series between India and New Zealand.
While Sachin Tendulkar is second on this list, his net worth is Rs 1250 crore approximately $170 million. He holds the record of a leading run-scorer. He has endorsement deals with brands like Adidas, BMW, Pepsi and Visa. He even co-owns the Kerala Blasters football team in the Indian Super League.
Virat Kohli, who retired from T20I cricket after India’s World Cup win, has an estimated net worth of ₹1,050 crore. He is one of the global athletes. He has the 2nd most centuries in international cricket. Because of Virat Kohli, Cricket is now an official part of the Olympics. Former Indian captain MS Dhoni has a net worth of around ₹1,000 crore to his name. He is the only captain of India who won the T20 World Cup, 50 over World Cup, Champions Trophy and ICC test mace. After these legends, Australian legend Ricky Ponting comes on the list with a net worth of $70 million. West Indies’s Former Captain Brian Lara has a net worth of $60 million.

Champions Trophy: A Look at Its Glorious History
Cricket has witnessed numerous prestigious tournaments over the years, but few have had the impact and prestige of the Champions Trophy. Often regarded as the "mini World Cup," the tournament has provided fans with unforgettable moments, legendary performances, and thrilling matches. This blog takes a deep dive into the glorious history of the Champions Trophy, tracing its evolution, key moments, and its significance in world cricket.
The Birth of the Champions Trophy
The Champions Trophy was introduced by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 1998 as the ICC KnockOut Tournament. The idea was to create a fast-paced, high-stakes tournament that would showcase the best teams in the world. Unlike the Cricket World Cup, which spans several weeks, the Champions Trophy was designed to be a short and intense competition.
The inaugural edition was held in Bangladesh, making it the first ICC tournament hosted by the country. South Africa emerged victorious, defeating the West Indies in the final. This win marked South Africa's first major ICC trophy, a historic moment for the Proteas.

Evolution of the Tournament Format
Over the years, the format of the Champions Trophy has undergone several changes:
1998 & 2000 – Knockout format, where a single loss meant elimination.
2002-2004 – Group stage followed by knockout rounds.
2006-2017 – Limited to the top eight teams, making it an elite competition.
One of the most significant changes came in 2002 when the tournament was renamed the ICC Champions Trophy and introduced a round-robin group stage, allowing teams to have more matches before elimination.
Memorable Champions Trophy Moments
1. India and Sri Lanka Share the Trophy (2002)
The 2002 final between India and Sri Lanka was one of the most unique moments in Champions Trophy history. After rain washed out play on both the scheduled day and the reserve day, the trophy was shared between both teams—something never seen before in ICC history.
2. Australia’s Dominance (2006 & 2009)
The mighty Australian team, known for their aggressive style and unmatched dominance in world cricket, clinched back-to-back titles in 2006 and 2009. Their victories reaffirmed their status as the best team in world cricket during that era.
3. India’s Thrilling Victory (2013)
Under the captaincy of MS Dhoni, India lifted the Champions Trophy in 2013, defeating England in a rain-shortened final. This win made Dhoni the first and only captain to have won all three major ICC trophies – the T20 World Cup (2007), Cricket World Cup (2011), and Champions Trophy (2013).
4. Pakistan’s Historic Triumph (2017)
The last edition of the Champions Trophy in 2017 saw Pakistan deliver a stunning performance against India in the final. Fakhar Zaman’s century and Mohammad Amir’s lethal spell helped Pakistan secure a massive victory, marking one of their most memorable wins in cricket history.
Significance of the Champions Trophy
Despite being shorter than the Cricket World Cup, the Champions Trophy has played a crucial role in shaping international cricket. Here’s why the tournament remains significant:
Elite Competition – Unlike the World Cup, which includes associate teams, the Champions Trophy was limited to the top-ranked teams, ensuring high-quality cricket.
Short & Exciting Format – The tournament lasted just a few weeks, making every match crucial.
Showcase of Talent – Several rising stars made their mark in Champions Trophy history, gaining recognition on the global stage.
Will the Champions Trophy Return?
After the 2017 edition, the ICC decided to replace the Champions Trophy with the ICC T20 World Cup to adapt to modern cricket’s growing preference for shorter formats. However, in 2021, the ICC announced that the Champions Trophy would return in 2025, with Pakistan as the host nation.
The return of the Champions Trophy has excited fans worldwide, as the tournament's unique charm and legacy make it a crucial part of cricket history.
Conclusion
The Champions Trophy has delivered some of the most thrilling matches and unforgettable moments in cricket history. From South Africa’s first triumph in 1998 to Pakistans emotional victory in 2017, the tournament has consistently been a spectacle of elite cricket. With its return scheduled for 2025, fans eagerly await another chapter in the glorious history of the Champions Trophy. One thing is certain—whenever the Champions Trophy is played, cricket fans are in for a treat!

Do you think the BCCI should ask Rohit to retire gracefully (as in not sack/drop him) at the end of this the WTC cycle? in any other situation this kind of a series loss would have called for sacking of the captain and coach.
Is Bumrah ready to captain ICT full term? That includes him staying fit for almost all matches of a series.
And I agree with you statements on Gambhir. Now he's going to realise how hard it is to coach a cricket team. Every time that mf opened his mouth it was to spew nonsense about Dhoni, Kohli, Shastri, etc. Karma is just coming back for that man.
Thank you for the ask!!! Already apologizing because I have a lot to say on this matter and this will get very looonggg, you've been warned.
See I believe that ICT will undergo a transitional phase very soon. The seniors will hang up their boots soon after the finals (if we reach there) or in the midst of the next cycle cz I definitely don't think most of them will play another full cycle. As much I hate to see them go, it's kind of inevitable though about Rohit (and by extension Kohli) retiring, I think it's still too early to make statements like this before BGT because that will be their last chance to step up otherwise I think some harsh calls need to be made. I desperately hope that they get their form back because Jaddu and Ash are doing well tbh, they won't be dropped or asked to retire because of their performance.
And I also agree that Dhoni or Kohli would have been publicly slandered after this kind of loss but Rohit did come forward and took responsibility (atleast after the 3rd test) although the interviewers should've been sterner rather than asking about the positives and feelings (I remember clips of Atherton properly grilling MS in 2011 after 3-0 loss in England). But we also have to keep in mind that a huge series is coming up and we can't afford captaincy changes now considering Rohit is actually a good captain in most situations. Though I do think that a transition should be placed into effect with Bumrah playing a bigger role in leadership and daresay even captaining dead rubber matches. His availability will be an issue taking in point that he's India's main bowler in all formats but his fitness won't cause problems imo if he doesn't play pointless bilaterals.
Lastly on Gambhir, what do I even say? I grudgingly respect him as a player but his constant credit narrative and baseless statements do bother me a lot. I don't know about limited overs but his position as a coach in red ball cricket should be reviewed and, same as the seniors of the team, BGT should be the stage for him to perform. His performance (mind you as a mentor, Chandrakant Pandit was the actual coach who literally built the side) in IPL got him the position but he will have to prove himself.
I may be criticizing them right now but I'll definitely be the happiest if they perform well (yes even GG) and chahe jitna bhi gussa karlu at the end of the day sabse ladkar inhi ko support karungi. So to all the people sending me asks calling players names and all, pls stop. Even if they're going through a bad patch, they're still national players who have done more for India than all of you combined. Learn the difference between criticism and hate.
#this was a lot but yeah did get everything off my chest#I have lots of opinions about cricket if you haven't guessed lol#desiblr#ind vs nz#somi.exe#cricket#asks <3
