Kindly askin', what are ur thoughts abt the love cult? Like, how it worked and that stuff /gen

But thank you for the ask!! :)

The love cults main focus is always on appeasing and worshipping Malcolm, the rock god always coming first before any of the others.

But the members of the love cult don’t actually start contributing until they’re 13, from the ages of zero to twelve, a child of Malcolm would be cared for by all of the older cult members, not really having one sole parent and more being collectively raised by everyone.

They still have to attending reading from the book of Malcolm every Friday and Malcolm’s morning and nigh-time gravel feedings but they don’t have to actually work.

this all changes on the child’s 13th birthday.

(the cult makes sure they know the child’s age when they first get indoctrinated but they don’t know their actual birthday, so they just do it on the child’s anniversary of joining Malcolm and say it’s their birthday)

When it hits 6 pm on the child’s birthday, the current leader of the love cult will use a special dagger to make a small cut in the persons skin, to which the persons blood is dripped into small glasses that are drunken by the other members with Malcolm getting the first few drops directly dripped into his mouth.

This ritual is to basically link all the members together into a part of hive mind with Malcolm, for all of them to be connected metaphorically.

the cult gives the person a few days for their injury to heal enough before they official become a productive member of cult society, helping with things such as, gravel feedings, reading from their holy book, and gathering food for everyone.

there are most specific jobs like Frog boy basically running the library and the two flowers helping the gardens with Special one volunteering sometimes.

Shrignold though is the only one that Malcolm fully trusts to actually go out of the clouds to recruit people as Malcolm basically raised Shrignold and believes that they are too loyal to stray from him.

they also operate on some schedules stuff like they all wash their clothes and robes on Sundays and hang them out to dry on Mondays, breakfast for the whole cult is at 7 am and dinner is at 7 pm, (they all eat around Malcolm btw), and bedtime is strictly at 10 pm and you must get permission from Malcolm to stay up later.

and sacrifices are on blood moons, of course!! ^_^

(oh yeah, and they all basically get lobotomized when they get indoctrinated but shhh /hj)

Shrignold wholeheartedly acceptd taking care of luna. he did everything in his power not to end up as a shitty father figure like malcum. Hes surprisingly good with kids too so raising luna was pretty easy. He's highky overprotective for a number of reasons but thats for me to yap about another day.

Larry was more chill with luna. He let her get away with underage drinking, driving, drinking AND driving, tax fraud, eating candy past 10pm all that stuff. But she felt comfortable going to him to talk about anything really.

since she's created in a lab, she grows up faster than others. She only stops rapid growth after she hits the adult stage of her life cycle

She has no favourite dad. she loves both equally ♥️

I made a teacher oc omg. I almost never make fan characters so I hope yall like her!! She teaches "compassion" and swaps the three into each other's bodies to make them "better understand each other's hardships. This was a way to integrate goofy bodyswap shenanigans into their world that spiralled further and further away from her involvement but oh well hehe

Understanding and compassion can and do take many forms within the three of them, but she only sees one way to express it and it's through very theatrical gestures that don't come naturally to any one of them. Her song would be all about how you don't know what someone else is going through, and that anyone can be secretly struggling.

A great message but executed in a heavily-watched and high-pressure environment to share the "right kind of vulnerability," and when she's inevitably dissatisfied by the trio's subtle way of caring for each other the shoes come out and she forcibly makes them to tour the dark part of each other's minds, and experience the physical discomfort of being in a completely different body, insisting that it's "dishonest" to keep things hidden between "close friends"

She doesn't like long stretches where her students talk to each other without her "guidance", and she quickly loses patience and her temper if she feels they're not expressing their feelings or compassion towards one another "correctly." Due to the vulnerability she encourages, even the smallest of her insults are shocking and very personal, gathered through her guided tours of each others minds

I would want her to be voiced by Becky but overlayed with Vivienne Soan's voice when she yells. I think it's fun like that.

Crazy but i loove LOOVE the transport episode. like oh my god i love it. SO MANY THINGS

I have a whole thing i started in my drafts about it its crazy. lmao

anyways i wonder if you have an episode like that to you. one that just. could be so many things and it runs though your brain.

cuz for me its transport. i get to look at red guy under a microscope for 28 minutes and its great.

I love the transport episode as well, I think it’s really underated, I have to make a post about it soemtime soon.

But I’d have to say that the episode that interests me the most is actually my favorite web episode, “Love”!

I think it’s such a great episode from everything to the song to the horror aspect of it, it honestly makes me very sad that it’s the lowest rated of the webseries episodes.

All the web episodes have a degree of psychological horror (mainly because that’s kinda the category of horror dhmis falls into) to them but I think Love is the one that handles it best.

Cult and Cult horror are an interest of mine and I think Becky and Joe did such a good job portraying cult tactics and how cults pray on vulnerable people due to them being easier to manipulate.

I love little details like the cloud words of darkness, death, and fear all being spelled correctly but Harmony is spelled incorrectly hinting that Shrignold and the love cult can’t promise Yellow harmony, love, or a partner.

Shrignold is a really great character to theorize about as well since the cults whole operation is never truly stated in the episode, we only know their rules and the god they worship, Shrignold is never even stated to be the leader and he might just be another member of the cult with not much power.

I have so many thoughts about the love episode, it actually makes me sick…
