hey tumblr. do i buy pokémon legends arceus or do i buy like 2-3 indie games (probably hades and omori)

i played sword and shield and got maybe 2/3rds of the way through it and tbh im surprised i made it that far. it wasn’t very fun for me to get thru. legends arceus seems like it appeals to me a LOT w/ the open world and more real-time mechanics + research upgrades but the pokémon franchise has just. burned me so badly lately and i’m not about to spend $60 on a game i won’t want to finish when i could buy indie games i’ll enjoy more w that money

ooh thank you for sharing, this was insightful to read :D kyman was my first otp so i never fully lose interest in it, i enjoy periodically checking in and seeing where kyman shippers are at so it was nice to get a newsletter of sorts dhjfkd, thanks for taking the time to type this up!

i'm reallyyy pleased to hear kymans are more collaborative and friendly now, that's wonderful! things were really so divided in 2018, for good reason, but it's nice to hear there's less of that, and less reason to be divided in the first place. i didn't like the rift in the fandom, but i wasn't comfortable interacting with half the people, so it was tough.

also i'm feeling rather smug that there's a fair amount of jewish kymans now - i'm jewish and i got told multiple times by antis that i was betraying my people, that i was secretly self-loathing, that shipping kyman meant i had internalized antisemitism. largely by gentiles, btw. i absolutely understand jewish fans being uncomfortable with cartman as a character, but i'm super pleased more and more of us are enjoying him. i imagine that picked up because of the post covid specials? i never actually watched them (only eps of sp i haven't seen haha) but cartman converting to judaism has been a hc of mine for years so i was delighted when i heard it became canon. although typically i hc he converts for kyle because i think thats High Romance.

it's kinda funny history repeats sm bc both skinny cartman discourse + antis attacking have been staples of the Kyman Experience for as long as i can remember. i've been in this damn fandom since 2013 and i remember people arguing about that shit on fuckin deviantart.

antis were suuuuper obnoxious in 2018 as well, i don't think kymans are ever gonna get the privilege of not having to deal with that bullshit. just kind of a part of it :( you know what really grinds my gears though is when kyman gets looped in with proshipping stuff, with people who like inc/st and p/do shit. as if canon cartman's 10 yr old little ass being an obnoxious idiot on a satirical show is remotely equivalent to those things. like hm! ok guys! and also it's sooo misguided like they'll target people who aren't doing shit instead of seeking out the people who are actually being freaks about it.

kinda funny how some things change n some things always stay the same. man. and "poorly developed media literacy from fans" - oh g-d, don't get me started on that shit. the internet's inability to critically enjoy media or even UNDERSTAND it will be the death of me, im tellin ya. every fandom i join im consistently flabbergasted by how fucking stupid people are. i love when people cant understand themes and motifs (/sarcasm). get me away from these idiots!!! ok im done /end rant

i think it has a lot to do with the fact that, simply put, @elf fuckers: ya basic. the elves are pretty and tall and elegant (at least in lotr; don’t think that’s the case with the silmarillion), and…. That’s Kind of It. i mean come on. elves are the people who unironically hold poetry readings and shit like that at their birthday parties. most of them probably dine roman-style; draped gracefully over a velvet chaise lounge while some poor servant feeds them peeled grapes. none of them have never heard of pants. point: most elf-fuckers are only here for the Aesthetic of elves, and are neglecting the much more personality-filled nature of dwarves, hobbits, humans, orcs and (dare i say it) ents.

as for your second question: i don’t have anything against elf-fuckers, per se. if you want a poetry-reading, no-pants-owning, roman-dining-ass trophy elf?? u go for it. i just personally am Not That Into elves (for the most part), although i did go through the mandatory “legolas is my god” stage after first watching the movies djfsd.
