Dead Friend Forever Ep 10 initial reaction
*wild screaming* this show!!!!!!!! THIS FUCKING SHOW
10/10 EVERYTHING MEANS SOMETHING LETS DIVE RIGHT IN FAM
Photo time
Tumblr media
Still wondering about White’s greatest fear. In the preview it seemed like he was in a brothel? He might know Non by a different name? But I believe Tee when he said he doesn’t know where Non is now.
Tumblr media
Ohh the imagery here. I am still shocked that Top had that much regret about what happened to Non I doubted that Top was cognitively aware enough of what he did. I think top was the MOST FREQUENTLY drugged. Tan is definitely viewing this mission as his suicidal mission for his brother to atone.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I hate Jin so much idk how anyone can stand him. PHEE THE HELL ARE YOU DOING I HOPE IF NON COMES BACK HE KILLS YOUR MAIN CHARACTER HOLIER THAN THO BULLSHIT.
Phee should feel haunted. I appreciate he gave Tan a place to live but what the fuck did he think was going to happen when they set up this plan? Tan was not doing well.
Tumblr media
Ohhhh so after White got with Tee he wanted to actually become friends with everyone maybe Tee wanted to change that he was truly changed by what happened to Non and falling in love with White. I can believe that. Look I’m pro murder in this show. However I’d like it if Tee White Tan survive. Optional on Fluke and Non.
Tumblr media
Extremely painful so it is like I suspected with Fluke he went along with the bullying because probably before Non got there he was the target of bullying. I think the amount of guilt he has for Non is sincere. I am worried about his mental state idk how he is this drugged? Maybe Phee injected him? When he was sleeping? I don’t understand 1 how he had the nightmare illusion ep2 or these waking illusions ep10 when Tan and Phee weren’t around him? Yea it’s in the water? But I haven’t seen him drink?
Tumblr media
Top is really committed to the bit. A guy wound is no joke though he is bad dead and
now we can’t say any of this was an accident.
Tumblr media
Understatement. But!!!!! Notice this people who like Jin. Jin has kept up with the news on Non’s family. He kept being a nosey stalker after non was dead? But he doesn’t believe non is dead. He was halcinating about the teacher while he knew about what happened to Non’s family?! The actual fuck.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I do believe this. I think he had no choice. We know his uncle is currently in prison so it seems like he was able to do something. But White doesn’t know about that? I thought White might be a prostitute with Non because maybe the fear rash was imagined because he feels dirty from what happened to him.
but maybe not
White truly seems to be innocent.
I really like Tee and White I find them much more compelling and interesting than Phee and Jin. I can’t wait to see where things go.

Is it just me or did white seem mildly inconvenienced at best while being held at gun point?
Plus phee found the ax only after Jin confessed??? And then phee was leading the way and they kept getting lost until Jin fully trusted phee???
Idk I think phee and white are pulling more strings than tan

Ep11- Quick Thoughts
hmmmmm... Where do I start?
As usual spoilers ahead, please be warned.
This episode fell a little below the usual level of enjoyment for me. I guess, they are still trying to keep some stuff for the finale, but instead of hyping me up for it, it kind of gave the opposite effect.
TeeWhite
This episode gave us TeeWhite's story and they're super cute but I couldn't really enjoy their moment when the show basically tried (emphasis on 'tried' as I'm still holding out hope) to crush my hopes of an alive Non. (Please don't fail me show!)
Tee
We're shown how shitty Tee's life was. Since ep9, I could feel that Tee's backstory would be tragic, we were shown glimpses of it in the earlier episodes, but I didn't expect the lines he uttered this episode. I guess, the writers wanted us to see that Tee just wanted to be a normal teen- to have friends, go to school, but instead he had to work to make ends meet and take care of his Dad. Even to the point that he felt he's being his Dad's Dad.
The scene with Tee and his Dad was heartbreaking. A kid whose childhood was ripped away from him as he's forced to grow up fast and shoulder responsibility will always pull at my heartstrings.
White
So... White is indeed just white. He's just an innocent civilian caught in the crossfire.
Phee
Hmmmm... I guess all I can say for him this episode is that, he really is the typical hero. Kind of weird to have one in a slasher but...
It's just that, I had hoped the plot holes in ep10 were actually intentional but I guess they're just plot holes and inconsistencies. (Still trying to hold out hope for the finale but I'm not expecting anything much at this point).
New/Tan
We finally got how much Non's disappearance affected New from New himself. We already knew the things that happened to New in the past 2 years since Non disappeared but aside from his attempt at inhaling too much of his concoction we never really hear him talk about how great his loss was. He really had nothing left to lose. This trip was really a do or die for him.
Non
I just want to give him a hug through the screen. He just suffered so much and for what? His questions to Tee were all on point. Why was he targetted? Why was he bullied to that extent? What did he do to deserve it?
We could see how his words also affected Tee, how the guilt of everything he did to Non was already creeping up on him. But what's the use of Tee's guilt now? Non's life was already in shambles.
It was really sad to watch Non slowly losing hope. How he looked like he just stopped trying to live. And it was doubly sad to know that he thought his family didn't care about him. That to them he was just a loser that always get into trouble and he's nothing like his golden child older brother. (Oh, Non, if you only knew how your brother raised hell to find you!)
It just really hurts how he thought no one loved him.
Do I still think that Non is alive after this episode? Yes, I'm still holding out hope. (Once a clown, always a clown... and that letter was cryptic!).
Will I be disappointed if he isn't? Not really. At this point, I have lowered my expectations of the show. With this episode, I'm now accepting that some inconsistencies could just be plot holes and production errors and not an elaborate scheme to a grand reveal of sorts.
Do I still expect a twist in the finale? Maybe, but I'm not expecting it anymore. I feel like the show's gearing up to give an ending where some of the boys will get their redemption and not punishment.

While checking the DFF tag today, I accidentally saw a lot of photos that looked like spoilers? (I don't even know what it was because I quickly turned it off, was the episode leaked earlier?), so until Saturday this tag is a no-go zone for me 🙂
So if anyone writes any spoiler-free post with meta about current, up to ep 10 content, or anything interesting at all, I will be very grateful if you tag me. I wouldn't want to miss some cool texts and analyses 😘
(Or maybe I panicked unnecessarily and these photos weren't spoilers?)

4 Minutes Ep 7 Rewatch + Ep 8 Live Blogging
The very last week of this show, woah. Very curious and nervous how they'll wrap it up. By the end of KinnPorsche I was so over it but I really liked DFF ending (last 10 minutes not withstanding and even then I chose to believe in the more bleak possibility), so I hope this one ends in a good way. Not in the sense that it's a happy ending but rather a suitable ending.
Ep 7 Rewatch (Sep 12)
As usual, when I watched in last Friday, I watched the regular version that's ~2 minutes shorter + was watching it on my phone + it was on the bus with the sun shining so I couldn't see the screen properly. So here's me watching it again on my laptop full-screen.
Saw a post about how Tonkla's cat appears whenever he's thinking of kill, oh man
if you can't come out, you're probably just stuck in the fake world while you're dead in the real one
lol I do find Lukwa and Den so cute
Also Den in general has such a cute face I hope he's also in whatever show BOC has next
oof, seeing the grandma get shot and die through the screen
little Great and Tyme knowing each other is cute but it doesn't actually make me feel much about their current relationship, you know?
I find it interesting that Tyme's parents had the gambling dens + they were being investigated. Although it doesn't mean they should've been murdered, they weren't innocent either
Ep 8 (Sep 13)
Couldn’t watch during lunch break but I ended up going on Twitter a few times and got spoilers such as Fuaiz dying in two series lol and Fuaiz-JJay having similar endings here and DFF apparently.
My headphones are glitching so I can only watch it when holding in a certain way but at least now I downloaded the episode with data and so can also watch when on the subway
Also it's Friday the 13th and that's fitting somehow.
Tyme sees the same 11pm thing like Great. I wonder if he’s gonna remember somehow
Tyme initiates the break up with Nutcha this time
hm the Great and Tyme meeting is completely different. Great seeks Tyme out as a doctor Why? Does he know something? which timeline is he from? does Tyme get flashbacks of himself and Great the way Great got them?
or is it just that this Great is made up in Tyme’s mind and so it doesn’t align? but like idk why Tyme specifically would be hung up romantically over Great
oh is this Why Don't You Stay by Jeff Satur? lol
Tyme’s time went by really fast lol and it was mostly just him and Great hanging out. i thought something more would happen
Korn bringing love into it like what’s that got to do with anything lol
lol Win your little infatuation is a murderer and is being helped to escape by his bf that he was cheating on with you. and he’s probably the paring his gun hm when ppl were drawing parallels did that include Tee being the one who killed White
also funny that Korn’s finally giving Tonkla some attention but he’s the reason Great was shot
The Win-Tonkla-Korn confrontation is insane with the amount of cheating + murderous secrets between them lol. Korn and Tonkla cheated on each other + Korn’s brother helped kill/get rid of Tonkla’s brother so Tonkla shot Korn’s brother
there’s too much sunlight on the bus, i’ve gotta see the screen better
damn, Win really shot Tonkla just like that. useless ass cop, couldn't do shit for Dome but can kill Tonkla just like that
oh Korn’s secret yearning to run away together and abandon his station. ig he really loved Tonkla lol or at least that combined with having nothing n left in this business thus killing himself. I was rooting for Tonkla to kill Korn with his shitty behaviour towards him and was like aw he died before killing Korn but in a way, he’s the reason Korn’s killing himself
the shot of Tonkla Korn lying in the bed and then in the same position dead on the ground is soooo good
I wish Tonkla hadn't just unceremoniously fallen dead immediately after the shot. I wish he was still alive when Korn was cradling him and either said something or had a vision like Korn did or something
also I'm glad that Korn knew everything Tonkla did and still decided to kill himself, like he did it despite knowing it all, he didn't have an incorrect view of Tonkla.
now what is going on in this real life timeline. Tyme mourning his grandma makes sense but Great is beside him hmm ig they both woke up? I remember Great waking up but that was the weird scene where he was shot in the 4 minutes timeline with the assassin shooting him and his mom
also does Great know that Tonkla shot him? he must, right? but he’s like okkkk let’s forgive and forget be happy in the afterlife in love?
i don’t understand Great and Tyme’s relationship (well maybe it’s more understandable after the 4 minutes timelines) but I do get Lukwa/Den lol how cuteee
ohhh the room that Lukwa and Great met at was an art exhibition! I love this actually because I was like ?? if they met in their consciousness, but also I’ve been going to art exhibitions and museums lately and have enjoyed a few of the video art rooms like this, so it feels like great timing for me bc I wouldn’t have had this experience if this show had come out a few months ago. And this art exhibit touched them so deeply and thoroughly that they internalized it for when they went through literally live and death experiences
but who is this ominous woman who did the presentation? it really as if she granted them those 4 minutes lol (though Korn went through the same thing without seeing the exhibit)
wild that Great literally just left while Lukwa was dying lol but it wouldn’t even be his second most egregious crime in that timeline
girl i wanna head Great and Tyme talk a bit more about their experience!! what do they remember etc
oh those angel wings behind Great hm
Tyme is still working on his parents murder also what happened to the woman who Korn called who Warit Id assume also killed?
I read that Bible was dissatisfied with some sort of choice (?) in the final episode and it wasn't to his liking and I wonder if it's this money and bringing parents back thing? but he chose to be a better person so idk like idk what other choice Great has made this episode
girl who is Wanchai? Korn? who is Warit it’s Fahsai’s dad who killed Tyme’s parents and shot Tyme right?
is the person who Korn called the same person who beat the shit out of Warit after Korn died?
ooh murderer Tyme. Took a page out of Tonkla’s book
agh he didn’t even kill Warit. fine i guess, shouldn’t get found out and lose your medical license and be charged for murder etc. It’s not like Tonkla’s story is anything to aspire to.
yknow there are multiple series where it feels like i’ve seen this sort of “villain ends up in hospital and instead of killing people are gleeful at them being stuck in bed and needing help for all bodily functions” and like yknow pretty much all of us will end up there someday. those who are disabled aren’t being punished
ohh maybe it’s this decision? Great turning himself in for Dome’s death. but what about that woman's death from the hit and run
pls not them faking out "oh maybe this is fake in your mind" smhh At least when DFF did the fakeout escape, it made a more compelling "oh they're actually all still stuck in that house" interpretation even though they were too cowardly to actually show that. doing the opposite where they tease a more compelling ending while the actual ending is unearned is like what...
Last episode thoughts:
I think it focused on the wrong things, specifically when it came to Great and Tyme. What was the point of Tyme's 4 minutes trip? Nothing happened except he also in his fake timeline fell in love with Great for some reason. From my tags on a post: Maybe we can convince ourselves that great was lonely and was just looking for somebody to care about him and decided to latch onto tyme in his dying moments thus his 4 minutes romance. but what was tyme's 4 minutes even about?! why did he spend all of it falling in love with great in it?!?!?! and what was the point of it fr like his timeline did nothing affected nothing. great could've just woken up when real life tyme was calling him on the hospital bed if we Needed to have tyme wake great. in Triage when the other guy was in the loop there was a very clear purpose and mission and it aligned with the story, he had to save the doctor this time. i thought us getting to see tyme go into his own timeline at the very end would lead to something like that, whether it be uncovering some mysteries, figuring out the mechanics of this phenomena, or what. But instead he just went on fakes dates with Great.
And then once they woke up, it didn't focus on their recovery or them meeting each other again or the 4-minutes phenomena at all. We didn't even really see Great wake up, we saw his alternate self wake up. Why didn't we see Great and Tyme finding each other in the real world where they have a very broken not-even-friendship and how to reconcile the real person with who they each had in their head (because it's not truly the other person in their head) - unless we were maybe supposed to think it was because of the river incident where Great drove to the river even though he didn't know it was there in his dream timeline.
Are we just assuming that the timelines are all fake and doesn't affect the real timeline, thus no explanation or discussion of it necessary? but then why are Great and Tyme's relationship not explored at all outside of their fake ones aghhh.
man, why did they not actually explore any of the things that the story started on in this finale.
I liked the Tonkla-Korn-Win showdown because it's delicious to have to confront everything at once, nowhere to hide and so many secrets come spilling out. Korn is an asshole and Tonkla should've killed him but he technically did do that because Tonkla dying lead to Korn killing himself. Win is such a dumb bitch, how did he get to just continue living life normally and continue with his job? How wasn't he investigated or in agony at what he's done (the way Tee from DFF was)? And why did we not have a conclusion to the corruption of cops and how they have impunity and get away with anything the way we had started off but now Win's just a good cop and that's that? And Tonkla died so... unceremoniously. Man :( Also despite my dislike for Korn, I think Korn/Tonkla is really compelling and it's like woah when we realize that Korn actually loved Tonkla even though his priorities were whack by the end and him persistently trying to have sex with Tonkla that one time was scary. It's like Korn might "love" Tonkla but he's still not... good at love him and he's not a kind/good person even though he maybe loved Tonkla. idkidk I enjoy a good tragedy.
Actually I also wish we got some more of Tonkla POV in this episode rather than just through Korn's eyes.
There was a post that was like this is like GMMTV ending and I agree, they went with the the easiest, most non-sensical romantic route despite it not suiting the story but gotta make it all romantic because it's BL/GL. smh.
I dont mind that Great and Tyme both woke up instead of a “Great went through this whole thing in his mind and nothing changed and he dies” because although I can enjoy a bleak/tragic ending, I don’t know necessarily that that’s the only suitable ending my for the story. like if it was even more character focused and focused mostly on Great and his character development on his deathbed, then maybe but we had many characters and like mystery and suspense with the business and Tonkla stuff so I feel like tragedy isn’t the only viable solution. so it's not that I wanted a tragic ending for them but right now... it still doesn't feel like the earlier fake-timeline eps actually did anything??? like it's not real to me. I know Sammon said in Twitter that apparently it's an alternate timeline that affects the real one but uh, not according to the show.
Overall:
It's a shame that the last episode was not very good and it didn't tie up things well or do anything meaningful with the 7 episodes that came before it because I quite enjoyed 7/8 eps of the show and even enjoyed the Tonkla portion of the story. I enjoyed the characters (and how terrible they were) and what I thought was going on. It was a good Friday watch + I liked it even more when I binge rewatched eps 1 - 6 and was anticipating the show even more. And yet, it feels like they didn't explore the themes and potential of the storylines enough, especially the whole 4 minutes thing. It's fine, I don't hate the show and really liked most of the show but it feels like the last ep took the wind out of it.
Overall: 6.5/10 - a rating that hurts me because it was one of my most anticipated and for so long too.

Note
I don't get why people are so upset. I mean Crowley's character has been stagnant for a while and though I loved him (and Mark more so) where else could his chara go? While Luci ( and his arc) has been wildly OOC and awful, most the eps of 12 have been better than 9-11, and an AU world to explore has SO MANY possibilities! Yeah Cas died, but we all know he's not staying dead. I've not been excited for a premier since 1-5 and I can honestly say I am looking forward to 13
about this post
Some people are excited about S13 and some people are devastated. Both are valid and we can agree to disagree as long as it is done respectfully. That said, your post struck a chord because we are seeing “Yeah Cas died, but” and “SO MANY possibilities [in S13]”, going hand-in-hand with the idea that being negative about S12/13 is somehow wrong or misguided and must be corrected.
The DFF mods are with the OP and many other Cas fans who have strong negative feelings about the S12 finale. Those feelings are valid. The list of reasons to not trust SPN writers to skillfully deal with the fallout of the S12 finale is as long, if not longer than the list of all the positive possibilities. We know, we’ve kept receipts.  And so we shared OP’s ask, empathized (“Friend, we feel ya”), and provided some links to feel good posts.
We are aware that there are folks like yourself excited about S12/13 and that’s cool. Be Free to Squee on your blog!!! But what we are also seeing in some corners of fandom that is not cool is dismissing the feelings of those who don’t agree with them or schooling them on how they should feel. Through the years Cas fans have had to deal with their feelings and love for this character being dismissed, disregarded and belittled by different fractions of SPN fandom. So when Castiel Angel of Thursday, with the crack in his chassis and too much heart gets stabbed in the back and is left lying in the dirt in the final moments of the finale, listing all the reasons to be happy really doesn’t help.
Remember, a little compassion goes a long way.
Tumblr media
But since you and so many other fans have said “ Yeah Cas died, but we all know he’s not staying dead.” here’s a short list of some other times when fandom said “Cas/Misha will be fine!” and TPTB answered with “What show are you watching?”
Heavy spoilers for seasons 7-12 and season 13 speculation under the cut
Unlike Dean and Sam fans, Cas fans get only some 10+ episodes per season and we never know when Cas will be on the show. If you include hiatus breaks, Cas fans can go for a very long time without knowing what’s up with our favorite angel. And very often we want to believe that the show will give Cas exciting story line but well

- Remember when after the season 6 finale fans thought that Cas would be fine in season 7 and couldn’t believe that 7x02 was his final scene? It is pretty much acknowledged now that it was supposed to be permanent death.
- Remember when after season 8 finale so many fans hoped that human Cas would settle in the bunker and we would  get our TFW episodes just like 8x08? That post-8.23 hiatus was full of excitement and discussions about human Cas in the bunker. Fic writers and fanartists came together as a group to write The Pillow Verse, reflecting the anticipation for human!cas.  After so many years of being told that angel Cas is too powerful to be around Winchesters all the time, finally he was human! Instead, 9x03 happened and we just had to swallow the “Cas is having meaningless hetero sex” pill followed by the “noncon/dubcon” reveal. Remember thinking, well at least he is now safe in the bunker? That lasted one commercial break.
- Remember when after the season 9 finale fans speculated about confrontation between angel Cas and demon Dean and how great it would be? It all came down to two short scenes in 10x03 after which Cas left bunker. Again.
- Remember when the show promoted the 200th episode (10x05) and nobody even doubted that Misha will be included? Fans had to ask CW PR person directly to confirm that no, Misha won’t be in this tribute to fandom episode, but “Cas” would.
- Remember when fans believed that saving Dean from Mark of Cain in season 10 will showcase Cas’ importance? Angel grace was in the title card for crying out loud?! We just have to watch all Cas-less episodes and then, in the finale, Cas will save Dean! Instead we got allusions to Dean and Crowley’s summer of love and Dean beating the crap out of Cas in 10x22. In 10x23, Cas was discarded by both Winchesters and left in a ditch like a mad dog, literally. That hiatus broke a lot of Cas fans.
- Remember when Cas fans were ridiculed for doubting that he would be part of the S11 mid-season finale? Well. He wasn’t. Just as he wasn’t important in myth arc heavy episodes before season 12 finale.
- Remember when S11 led us to believe that Cas’ depression would be finally addressed, and that Dean and Sam would save him from Lucifer? Yup, didn’t happen, Cas was expendable after all.
- Remember when so many Cas fans were concerned about Cas fate in the S12 finale and yet their concern was dismissed by elements in the destiel fandom itself? Looking back at S12, it is painfully clear how well Cas’ death was foreshadowed. And yet, Cas fans were called silly or scolded about being too negative.
And now, after the season 12 finale and NINE years on the show, we can’t even celebrate Misha’s 100th episode (12x23) because we just don’t want to think about it. Here’s couple of Cas 100 episodes gif sets without Cas’ final scene (x, x). Yes, that’s an important factor for us when reblogging gif sets.
So, no, as we’re writing this post, June, 2017, we do not know if, when, for how long and in what capacity Cas/Misha will be back on the show. We know that Misha is involved with episode 13x16. That’s it. Will our Cas be back in 13x01 or in 13x17 or only for hot five minutes in 13x23? Will it all be flashbacks? It may not matter to other fans, but to us it makes a tremendous difference. And it makes for a very stressful hiatus.
And even if Cas/Misha will be back sooner rather than later, there’s plenty of ways a TV show can bring back a character and its actor and still screw over fans. Just remember Cordelia Chase from Angel TS, season 4 or how the TV show Fringe handled the doppelganger story of their main character. Heck, ask how Sam fans liked watching the soulless Sam story line in real time.
So, for the last time, please don’t dismiss, shame or make light of Cas fans feelings of distress and devastation because “he surely will be back pfff” or “the show is about Sam and Dean!”, or because “nobody is really dead on SPN” (yeah, lol, tell that to Jo, Ellen, Kevin, Benny and Charlie). Believe us, we KNOW that Cas is not a major character on the show. And that is exactly why we are afraid of his mistreatment.
Until 13x01 arrives, we have to go on with his final scene etched in our eyes. If you love the show because it evokes strong emotions, then respect those emotions even if you don’t share them.
This is the only post DFF is making about S13 speculations, if you want to talk more, flyingcatstiel’s ask box is open.  We’ll talk in October about S13 and where we go from there.

Cherry Magic TH Live Blogging
Couldn't decide whether to watch Blank Season 2, The Boyfriend reality show, or jump into the first 2 eps of 4 Minutes even though I can't watch it as it airs next week. Wasn't really feeling any of them fully though, so there I am with Cherry Magic TH which I've been meaning to watch for a while. One of the only recent GMMTV series that I've heard pretty much only positive things about because Last Twilight, the other GMMTV BL I've been meaning to watch, had a divisive last few episodes.
About TayNew, I thought their Kiss series side ship was alright but didn't really like Dark Blue Kiss, was annoyed by all the characters. However, I like Tay as a person and have liked him as different characters since then + I was quite impressed by New in The Warp Effect. So I have high-ish hopes, especially because of the general positive buzz toward them for this show even from non-TayNew fans.
Also, it's a long weekend so I can just watch it grey on my laptop for these 3 days and my beloved uorigin.
Ep 1 (Aug 3)
ah, office settings, how I hate them. tend to avoid watching office BLs, esp boss/employee romances because there's nothing romantic about that setting to me but I wanna watch this one.
It really is a little strange to watch this remake because I'm like anticipating things that will happen before they happen. it kinda feels like when you know spoilers but I know more than a random scene that will happen sometime in the show, it's like I'm waiting for the events/sequences like getting his power -> the elevator scene etc. but good thing kinda is that I don't actually remember the Cherry Magic JP much, so it won't be like this for long.
Achi smiling to himself as he tries to find who Karan is complimenting lmfao only to be confronted by the realization that it's him
not Achi finding the Cherry Magic manga during his search. so that also canonically exists?
aww a cute surprise party for Achi from the 2 women whose character names I don't know yet. but hello Jan <333
ahhh Karan looked through reviews for a month to find this cake for Achi omg
the friend's name is Jinta? I just think of 1) Triage mystical Jinta and 2) DFF Jinta myths
loll so fun how everybody also slinks away as soon as the boss leaves. anyway i think i'd pass away if i had to work like that
girl what the hell the samples arrive at 10:30pm and they have to confirm the order in half an hour? After just one person has seen them? omg
Karan and Achi are sooo cute to me already
not Karan's condo romance fantasy lmfaooo
I kinda remember this sleeping in Kurosawa's condo thing but I thought it happened a little later tbh
Good start, very cute.
Ep 2 (Aug 3)
hehehe bonding over manga despite Karan trying to keep up the cool appearence
pajamas Karan specifically bought for Achi?!?! he's crazy lmfaooo
I'm cryinggg Karan is actually so obsessed, the doodle is of Achi's ear and mole?!
Achi's heart beating faster at the good night + smiling when he realizes Karan practiced making the egg for him
ah, Rock got broken up with but also gave Achi more fuel for his am-i-taking-advantage-of-karan's-crush crisis
why did the boss not have any thoughts played
trying to remember if the side couple had an antagonistic beginning like they're doing here.
not Jinta also hearing the cat's thoughts!!! lmfao
ahh the office party and forehead kiss already? Why do I feel like things are happening faster than the Japanese version or do I just not remember. In my head the scene where Adachi has to placate the boss who needs that dessert happened before this scene but maybe not
ahh my poor Karan feeling bad about liking Achi and making him uncomfortable
ahh i love the rooftop convo (and thoughts)
Ep 3 (Aug 3)
almost kiss
Achi ended up accidentally giving Karan more hope than he's ever had
I can't remember anything about a resort or beach trip in Cherry Magic at all so I can't figure out if they invented it for this version or not
Karan buying the drink to give to Achi + making the executive decision to switch seats with Rock + wishing for every misfortune that would delay the bus so that he could sit beside Achi longer lmfaoo
god, Karan being too good at stuff that he wants just as hobbies. wish I had that problem so bad
We didn't get to see Rock and Mr.Tanaka but it's funny that Rock keeps getting stuck with him
We don't get to hear Karan's presentation about Achi?
we're supposed to believe New isn't built?
why do i have to see women being harassed? and was this in the OG Cherry Magic? can't remember
Karan saviour
yayyy Karan bad at singing
oh, Papang appearance. Did I know he was in this? I don't think he'll appear again
yaas let's go Pai. and hope the guy's fiancee breaks up with him too
oh, we do see the presentation final
cryinggggg at Karan's internal screaming at Achi leaning his head on his shoulder that startles Achi awake
Ep 4 (Aug 3/4)
Jinta's heart beating faster because Min thought he smelled nice nad like his grandpa lmfao
okayyyy the client incident is here, idk why it left such an impression on me, I'm looking forward to this rendition of the scene too
Pai likes Achi too?
Achi feels nothing towards Pai but his heart beats for Karan
I think there was a storyline about Kurosawa's sister coming into the picture and being mistaken as his fg right? and lived in his house for a bit? Did Kurosawa sleep over at Adachi's house during that? I'm vaguely rmring some things
I feel like there was a scene of Kurosawa getting jealous/misunderstanding Adachi and his friend's relationship, was that supposed to be here and they didn't do it or a later time?
I thought the heartbeat pen was gonna give Karan's increasing heartbeat away when Achi does something cute
time for sleep, i'll watch the last 15 mins tmrw
oh lol we kinda get Achi's racing heartbeat w the pen
not Pai being a fujo which is fine and expected but the screaming and running out at Karan and Achi being cute is so wtf lol
not Achi passing out when he thinks the sister is Karan's gf
Ep 5 (Aug 4)
ahhh Karan thinking about wanting a keepsake for their first boat ride and Achi doing an origami for him
cryinggggg, not Jinta's sasaeng Hira tease
Karan being jealous of Rock is so cute omg and is also a type of angst that i like a lot where it's not like overdramatic considering what it is but is still a little sad and achy
now Karan's gonna get jealous of Jinta? plss
were Rock and Min in that band from before? I can't remember if this was also in the Cherry Magic JP live action but it probably was, right?
Rock and Min are cute but too long, let's go back to Karan angst c'mon!
omg Karan confessing !! but I wish there weren't random people in the both who can see/hear them
This was such a sad Karan episode! I thought it'd just be a little cute jealousy towards Rock but I love that it's a more melancholic, deeper thing.
Ep 6 (Aug 4)
ahh confession
man it always hits whenever somebody apologizes for being queer to their parents or for having queer feelings toward somebody... it speaks to me
i feel like this scene + Karan walking away needs like a kdrama OST right now
wait Ms. Kem is Gun/Li Ming's very attractive mother, hellooooo
not them letting Karan be sexual harrassed! and being basically given as a sexual favour!! >:(((
my poor fucking Karan T.T
it makes sense that Karan started liking Achi after this
Karan seeing Achi take care of the office and doing small things to take care of Achi is soooo cute omg
and Achi even figuring it out!
cryinggg Pai takes her fujo duties so serious, letting the motorbike driver keep her id and stuff hostage so that she can drive Achi to the airport
enough Rock and Pai, take me to Karan and Achi, the episode is almost over!
I'm gonna pretend they didn't say there were 40 minutes left before the airplane lands and i also don't get why he has to catch Karan at the airport like just go to Karan's place? talk to him tmrw? smth??
aw, confession from Achi too
Ep 7 (Aug 4/5)
5 am?! for a full day date?! girl
Karan buying an expensive shirt for Achi for their first date, that'd stress me out so much if I was Achi
Achi's gonna be nervous about sex all day bruh
interesting contrast between Karan-Achi's highly planned but kinda meh date vs Jinta-Min's impromptu cute date
did OG cherry magic also have a dating prohibition among coworkers?
this ep kinda reminded me of PeteKao's Our Skyy episode lol. in general a kinda meh episode for me even though i get why it's needed and what it's conveying. I ended up doing 1.25x about 20 minutes in and might continue with that tbh
Ep 8 (Aug 5)
naurrrr not Ms. Kem >:(((((((
she wants Karan to kneel and apologize?!?! i'm so mad and even more so bc i would love love loveeeee to see Tay Tawan play a role where he kneels in front of women but not like thisssss D:
I kept waiting for the boss to speak up but why did he not do it until Karan was already kneeling and had his hands together and was already basically apologizing >:(
I have vague memories of the mind reading thing happening in either Adachi or Kurosawa's home in the JP version, so I can't tell if they'll fr reveal now or if it'll be like haha joking
They should not have had Karan go through with all this with Kem, I'm so aghhh >:(
Ep 9 (Aug 5)
lol yeah Kurosawa also took the mind-reading thing extremely well
ohhoooo they're so cute after moving in together and Karan constantly touching Achi and being like test, test hehehe
Jinta-Min is so cute and funny lol suchhh an improvement from the jp ver.
"The scariest thing is to limit myself because I'm scared beforehand." I need to believe this fr...
kiss! and it's pretty good to watch too, not too awkward/stilted (though i was like ok n stopped paying attention halfway through)
Ep 10 (Aug 5/6)
I wishhhhhh that this was still on Youtube so that I could easily down it for my commutes.
practice time apart... for both the couples
ooh, I do enjoy a celeb-ish/non-celeb couple where the fame and celeb culture affect the relationship, like Jinta being jealous that Min's being shipped with another member of his group
aw, Min's group didn't win
Achi doing something nice for Karan
Ep 11 (Aug 6/7)
idk if Achi not telling his new coworkers about dating Karan will come bite him later but I fully get why he doesn't say
Karan goes to sleep at 8pm???
Min reading hate comments, I can't believeeee this show is randomly giving me idol or celeb dreams and the things that come with that!
aw the coworkers are fine with Achi having a bf
i have neutral feelings about Pai and Achi together, though a bit sad about losing our aro queen from the jpn version but this is annoying
i’m on the subway, so i’m not watching 12 mins onward - to watch at home
okay update from home later: *thumbs up*
Ep 12 (Aug 7)
goodbye Achi’s magical powers
i’m skipping through Rock and Pai scene
i wasn’t expecting Too Much of a hassle with the parents but doing the fake-out “they come out and the coworkers/parents seem upset at first but aren’t actually and it’s just a funny thing” twice back to back (11-4 and 12-1) is like give it a rest. i wish the parents had at least some sort of reservations regarding the queerness or were affirming in their support, not this jokey thing like we Just got that last ep!
Min telling fans that Jinta is his bf the day he gets confirmed to debut like let’s chill and think and plan first
lol author fansign basically
okkkk angsty meeting the parents with Karan, i was wanting a bit of this
okay nvm ig bc they’re like ok as your parents we support you but like
why was the mom saying on the phone that they’re busy then? and they acted quite cold with karan and achi too
okkkk yes the parents don’t want Karan to tell others that Achi is his boyfriend
let’s go Karin
goddd, Karan wanting to put his hand on Achi’s but turning around to see his mom looking at them and so keeping his hands to himself and they’re shakinggg
Karan tearing up in happiness/relief at hearing Achi and his parents talk wuahhh
“I didn’t disappoint you, did I?” one of my fave lines in general when it comes to coming out and parents ahh
aw marriage proposal even though it’s too quick for meee but theyre in true love and will be together forever so it’s okay
i loveeee a gay double proposal
the cherry theme for Jinta’s novel, Min’s band name, Achi and Karan’s wedding is killing me like lol
and Achi Karan do get to register there marriage now, aw
and Achi Karan do get to register there marriage now, aw
i’m quite meh about weddings in shows in general but this was is cute enough
so cute Min thinking like D: is he that serious about me? and Jinta jolting from his sleepy state to be like i only haven’t proposed bc of your idol dream, pls come and propose to me whenever you’re ready
on the other hand, don’t give me lovey dovey Rock and Pai
ah, mentioning the mind reading powers again, I did feel like it had disappeared without enough acknowledgement
Was I more picky and annoyed watching the first half of ep 12 because it’s like 8am and I’m on the train to go to work?
Overall:
I had watched the Japanese Cherry Magic live-action, which everybody seemed to love but was pretty meh and forgettable to me, but I’m glad that I ended up liking this adaptation better. I was quite unsure about the whole thing when it was announced like 1.5 (almost 2?) years ago, so I’m eating my words.
TayNew’s BL work after multiple years apart and they were both better than their Dark Blue Kiss days I think, helped by the fact that they’ve individually done a bunch of acting work since then. Karan and Achi were cute and endearing (and felt more human/real to me than Kurosawa and Adachi I think? but i can’t remember much from CM JP to say it with certainty). The ship is kind of “boring” in that there isn’t much angst between the characters, not as much tension, they don’t end up breaking up 3/4 through, etc. and I find that it can be hard to care about those sorts of couples for 12 whole episodes but Karan and Achi were cute enough and had enough outside struggles to pull it off.
i’m so charmed by Jinta and Min actually, a vast improvement from the japanese version’s equivalent. How cute and endearing and I liked getting my little taste of celeb/non-celeb dating and typical idol show problems bc I enjoy these tropes, even though they weren’t fleshed out at all in this instance (I will love Thame-Po forever if they actually give me a good, proper show but idk if they will lol esp considering what I’ve heard about Only Boo!). I watched Mark and Junior first in their Midnight Museum storyline and it was good enough, a bit heartbreaking the way the stories in that show were but not mind blowing and I don’t think I’ll be watching Perfect 10 Liners, but I’d still be curious to see them in something different later on.
On the other hand, I didn’t care about Pai and Rock whatsoever. I knew they were gonna end up together based on people’s comments + the SingJan ship but it’s a shame that they didn’t keep aroace Pai though i know she’s not aroace in the OG manga). Even without that, I just didn’t care about it, I just wanted Rock to give up and leave Pai alone. Pai is great and I liked her putting her ex his place and choosing happiness etc but not the part where she screams whenever her real life coworkers Karan and Achi do anything cute like okay you ship them but keep it in your head pls.
I enjoyed the adaptation and how it had the Japanese touches (the company try work for specifically) while also introducing Thai elements (religion, festivals, dialects). Great improvement on the kissing department and I’m glad they also squeezed the wedding in there.
Another of those I enjoyed it and it was well-made but I doubt I’ll be thinking much about this and it didn’t give me any soft of brain worms.
Rating: 6.5/10
