"Hippity hop from rock to rock, don't fall off the stones or I'll break more than bone." The girl sang as she hopped from rock to rock, making her way across the rushing river seemingly without a care for the danger racing past "If I fall I'm dead, oh such dread." Slipping slightly a she hopped to another stone Viola regained her balance and laughed.
Out of the corner of her eye she spotted some bewildered stranger watching from the shore "Hay, be careful!" She yelled "This water'll kill ya if you fall in!"

Harvey Vance is so stupid that he can't tell the difference between a boot and a dick. Sucking the Sheriff's docs won't make him your daddy any more than it'll make your friends graduate. Asshole.

“Don’t let your daddy issues cloud your judgment.“
“I do not have daddy issues,” Vi protested, knowing somewhere deep down that denial was futile. People were going to believe what they wanted. But. Harvey issues and daddy issues were not one and the same. No matter how much Harvey was trying to make them merge, they just weren’t. And even though Vi could admit some of her current thinking was stemming from Harvey issues, she was still a very rational person. She wouldn’t be suggesting what she was if she didn’t legitimately think there was some merit to it.
She’d thought Jamie would maybe see the merit there too… but a milkshake bribe could only get her so far with the club leader.
“I’m just saying, I think that Harvey may legitimately be possessed by a demon and the exorcism worked out okay last time. I don’t think it would hurt to try. Just to be sure,” she murmured, sure to keep her volume low. She did not need to be the person in town known for shouting about exorcisms in Marie’s. There were other people in town who could and did hold that honor.
“It’s just one tiny exorcism. It can be a secret,” she continued then, fully ready to explain her reasoning more in depth if he so required.
Everyone knew about the mysterious disappearance of all of Harvey’s friends. The fact that he’d come out of things alright? It couldn’t be a coincidence. Add in the fact that he’d made it his personal mission ever since to stick to her like glue, and she hated to be the bearer of bad news, but… it just made sense. What else could possibly make someone go to such great lengths to ingratiate themself to the town sheriff?

PLOT DROP 8 // HUSH PART 4B
Popcorn, chick flicks and face masks. That was what the invitation to Violet’s sleepover party had detailed and for the most part, that was what it was. Four girls, plus Violet, all together in the Sheriff’s house, alone with Clueless and a group-voted replay of 13 going on 30. It was eerily quiet in the Normal Heights home but it was what to be expected from a gaggle of mute beauty queens. Even Danika Rogers was especially well-behaved despite her penchant for trouble. The shotgun mounted on the wall seemed to do the trick with the girls but it didn’t stop the gossip.
“NORMAN?”, Priscilla wrote during the climax of the movie. Her bedazzled notepad gleaming with the same mischief she carried in her eyes.
The flock grinned and leaned closer to Violet who was doing her best to blend in with the wallpaper. The floral aroma of five different body sprays and the cutesy decor they’d stamped onto her nails were enough without the prying.
“He’s so dreamy,” she added fanning herself with her note pad and swooning into her sleeping bag. “I heard he would walk girls from the mess hall back to their cabins every night during bible camp so they wouldn’t have to walk in the dark alone.”
Janet grinned sleazily. “I heard he’s got a huuuuge dick.”
The room collectively gasped and clutched their communication apparatuses, some giggling and squirming with delight while others admonishing Janet with their note books.
“If you’re not going to take him, I will.” Danika quirked a brow at Violet. “It’d only be right. You know, since I’m going to be Miss Teen Normal. I may as well go all the way and be Mrs. Normal too!”
She pranced around the living room, hands flourishing like a queen as she pretended to accept awards from all her suitors, making a show of it as the girls watched her and missed the shadows passing across the windows.
Without being able to make noise, all of them heard the the phone ringing. Danika fell off of the edge of the couch, stunned silent as she looked for the source of the noise.
All the pageant girls glanced at each other, then at Violet. Aimee was the one who looked particularly judgmental and wrote, “You still have a landline?”
Violet got up to take the call.
“Hello?”
A low, distorted voice filtered through the receiver. “Come outside.”
“Who is this?” she demanded.
“Come outside or we’re coming in.”
At that, Violet hung up the phone and made a bee-line to her father’s shotgun. The girls all looked on in horror as the blonde double-checked the barrel and cocked it like Rambo with hot pink nails.
“Who was that?” Aimee asked.
“No one. It’s nothing,” Violet said. “Stay away from the windows and don’t move, okay?”
She peered through the peephole and scanned the lawn before throwing open the door. There was no way she was going to let some weirdo come into the house during her sleepover and maybe she was a little glad that they were finally about to do something she was familiar with.
Violet crept outside, gun poised in hand as she surveyed the lawn for signs of a predator. She got a few steps out until suddenly, she was hit with... water?
“Gotcha!” Kaz exclaimed from behind a bush, unable to contain his laughter any longer.
The girls who had disobeyed Violet’s order and crowded by the door were met with a stronger jet of water as Jamie appeared with the garden hose and a smarmy look on his face. He replayed the grim message off of his phone where he’d altered his voice with an app, grinning like he’d just won the lottery.
“Miss me?” Jamie said, turning the hose onto Violet. He sprayed her like a dirty car, focusing especially on her shotgun.
"Absolutely not. What the hell-- Stop that!” she barked, flailing the gun about. The commotion outside between the boys, the water and all of her exclaiming was enough to rouse the rest of the girls inside who had all stormed away from the door to collect their things.
Violet had advertised a slumber party with no boys and from the looks of it, the rumors about Violet had been right all along and not even Kaz’s princely smile could convince them otherwise. Violet Matthews wasn’t one of them and would never be such. Danika made it known by leaving a scathing note about how undeserved she was of the voice she still had before leaving the house in a huff.
One by one, all the girls left with their stuff in tow to continue the fun where they wouldn’t be interrupted by a couple rascals.  The rustle and bustle of all the noise scared a raccoon out of the bushes and a trio of shadows that had been lurking just at the edge of the house dispersed soon along with them.
Jamie squirted the girls all the way into the Uber that came to get them, unrepentant.
“Sorry, Vi. It was his idea,” Kaz said as he turned off the sprinklers. Jamie preened with pride as he finally lowered the hose.
Violet opened her mouth to shout at Jamie, only nothing came out.
The next morning, the news would showcase four more murders. All of them girls who had been at Violet’s party and had left when the boys came to sleep at Priscilla’s. All with their hearts carved out. Never to wake up again.
Janet Wilson. Danika Rogers. Aimee Williams. Priscilla Princely.

She grasped the hand making it’s way up her thigh and tossed it back towards the owner. One of the older men in a neighboring town that had found his way into her tinder DM’s, one who had given her a good amount of cash for going out to a fancy restaurant with him. She had lied about her age, of course. She had also lied about needing a ride tonight, and when she asked him to pick her up and take her to the hospital, she made sure to just give him the address. Now that they were parked she could tell he assumed she had wanted a busy parking lot to fool around in. Well, jokes on him. Flashing him a smile, she leaned over and kissed his cheek, a deep burgundy staining his skin, before leaving the car. “Thanks, doll.”
She didn’t look back as she slammed the door behind her.
Heading into the hospital, she told herself the reason she was here was not because she cared about Edwina or the rest of the Scooby Gang, but because some truths had been revealed earlier in the night and she knew it would be best to be on the inside. At least she could keep track of what they were sticking their noses in this way.
Her heels clicked on the floor beneath her as she found her way into the waiting room, her pace a little hurried because, and she wouldn’t actually admin this, she was a bit shaken after the events of tonight. She doubted there was a Sue Ann, so who the fuck was that women? Finally finding numerous members of the gang seated in the waiting room, she brushed her hair out of her face as she made her way over to them. Prom dress still on, a long jacket draped around her shoulders. She hadn’t had time to go home and change. “So what the fuck is going on?” She asked the group, once they were finally in earshot. “Oh and thank you all so much for waiting for me back there.”

Edwina’s arms were tired from having to hop around on crutches all day. Her little fall after prom resulted in a leg cast and hours of yelling from her parents. The hospital wouldn’t even give her a pudding cup because she wasn’t an overnight guest. Fucking assholes.
She finally got some rest by sitting in the club office, swiveling side to side in her desk chair as she talked to Jamie.
"I’m sorry if you dad was being rude when he told you to leave the hospital. My mom knows it’s not your fault or anything. She thought it was nice you and everyone came to the hospital instead of dumping me off. My dad is just. . .” The word ‘prejudice’ was on the tip of her tongue, but Edwina thought it was too strong. She was too naive to realize that maybe the word held just the proper amount of power. “Anyway, I didn’t get to say thank you for coming to the hospital. . . or coming to the party to get me. . . or taking me to prom in the first place. . . so thank you.” Jamie could have followed the woman, but he hopped in the car instead. He could have stayed home and done more research, but he let Edwina eat up his time instead. It was nice to know Jamie had her back, but at what cost? “And I’m sorry you couldn’t go after that crazy lady. . .” Edwina honestly had no clue if anyone got to go after the woman since she was too busy begging everyone not to snap her leg back into place.
“I’m grounded until the end of time.” Edwina tapped her cast with the cap of her glitter gel pen, “Not like I can get far anyway though. . . Besides I think the less time I have outside the better. I can’t look at Kaz right now. . . or Bryce. . .”
Edwina felt guilty about lying to Kaz, someone who had only shown her loyalty and kindness since he joined the newspaper club. She felt even guiltier that the lying came so easy to her. “Jamie, how much longer until we can tell Kaz the truth?”

They returned to their regularly scheduled programming, because that was what the Murder Club did. They lived with their secrets, pretending to everybody else that all was well and normal and good. It was difficult, but they always had each other to lean on. That Monday, Kaz felt a lot like he was fielding it alone.
He’d skipped baseball practice for the first time in his life, opting instead to wander the library. A few of his peers were whispering about it, gossiping about whether or not Kaz Caldwell could actually read. He didn’t care. He had other things to worry about.
“Do you have any books on like, uh...” He felt stupid, for so many reasons, as the librarian stared at him over her wire-framed glasses. “Local legends?”
“We only have a few left,” she admitted. “The Ward boy tends to check them out without ever returning them. The smart Ward, I mean.” She pointed in the direction of the section. Kaz nodded his thanks before slipping in between the stacks where she’d indicated.
He was flipping through a book on local history to look at all the pictures when Jamie appeared in the aisle. Kaz offered him only a minute glance before settling his eyes back on the book in his hands.
“I heard Edwina’s doing better. How’s the baby?” he asked sarcastically.

Muffy hadn’t picked up on the fact that maybe Jamie had been avoiding her, but it didn’t stop Muffy. Even if he was hiding away, it was like she could use echolocation to find him somehow. She was finally able to corner him in the school after chasing him down all day.
“I want to be in The Murder Club.” she blurted (probably from exasperation and also because she’d been waiting all day to say it). “I want to be in Murder Club. Everyone thinks you guys are weird and I’m weird too so if anyone should be in it, it should be me.”
Sure they had a reputation around school, but Muffy knew more than what the average eye saw. She had been practically studying Jamie and them for weeks now. She didn’t know exactly went behind closed doors, but she knew it had to do with oddities and that whatever they were doing was enthralling.
“I want part of your club, Jamie. I read a lot of books about the occult and I’ve been doing a bunch of research on stuff like Satan and witches. I’m smart and I like writing so I can actually write for the paper too. . . Besides, Kaz said all that crazy shit about him and Tommy and Clussy and you guys in the Waverly house so. . . I don’t know, maybe you should keep me and those other guys at the party closer or whatever if you don’t want anyone to tell.” It was more so a genuine suggestion than trying to threaten him. Muffy knew she wouldn’t blab, but who knew about the others. She was nuts about Jamie, but not enough to actually try and go full yandere and ruin his life.
“Please?”

“No, I mean it! Your arms are like, some of the biggest I’ve ever seen.” She batted her eyes at the senior boy, seductive smile on her lips as she slowly let her hands run over his bicep. While Mariana’s escapades recently ended with her in a euphoria, bloody bliss, the blonde had no intention to feed on the football player in front of her. No, she truly just wanted to sleep with him. Blue eyes, a sharp jawline, son of some rich car dealer. He was the boy every girl dreamed of going on a date with, the one you swoon over in the halls.
Mariana had secretly lusted over him since her freshman year, and when she was gifted this incredibly body, she made sure to put in some groundwork so he’d notice her. Looking at him long enough in the halls that’d he catch her eye, but ignoring any real interaction he attempted to start for the attention of one of his team mates. Make him want her, and crave her while she denied it. It got her a prom date... and maybe more.
Looking at his watch, she noted they wouldn’t be crowning Prom King and Queen for at least an hour. It was plenty of time to have some fun. “Are you as well endowed in other areas?” She questioned, hazel orbs flicking towards his crotch as if to drive home what she was implying. His brows shot up and she could tell he probably wasn’t expecting something so bold, not this early in the night. Especially not without any alcohol in her system. But she was an impatient girl.
“Let’s go find someplace more private and we’ll find out.” Taking his hand in her own, the girl began to guide them out of the ballroom. For a second she caught a familiar gaze across the room, Jamie Ward, and she wondered why he was even paying attention to her in this moment. Probably judging her, but she was too close to cloud nine to allow herself to think deeper on the subject. She pushed any thoughts of him and newspaper club out of her mind as she pulled her conquest out of the ballroom with her.
It took thirty seconds top to find the men’s bathroom, and Mariana pushed the door open with a force that was unnatural. Her boy toy was too entranced with her and the deep kiss she planted on his lips to notice though. It took seconds but suddenly he was wrapping his arms around her waist and lifting her up on the counter. The kisses slopping and his body pressing into hers just how she liked it. Oh, this was going to be a magical night.

There were a lot of ways that Holly had seen this day going. She had agreed to go to the baseball game for Kaz’s sake, even if it meant sitting for hours on the bleachers watching boy chase each other around some dirt and cheering whenever she hear the other people making the same kind of noises. Luckily, Violet had agreed to come and the two had been spending the better part of the game together.
When she wasn’t busy keeping Edwina from climbing over the fence in attempts to pop baseball players on the mouth and frantically explaining that they were, in fact, not going to fight each other until probably after the game.
Exhaustion was starting to wear down on her so Holly had stood, explaining to Vi she was going to grab something with caffeine really quickly, and made her way to the concession stand. What she hadn’t counted on (naively) was that Jamie would be there too. They were standing next to each other in line surrounded by other hungry people.
Things, she hoped, were not as bad as their last interaction had left things on. She felt tension on her part but they had at least been able to communicate civilly recently. About the death of two teenage girls, but even that was something. She didn’t like the hostility and there was still a lot of guilt she felt for out right rejecting him as harshly as she had, especially in the wake of a supposedly successful exorcism and her own ever growing nightmares. Still, that didn’t mean she knew how to open up a conversation with him. Their history with that was nothing short of a swing and a miss, but just standing there in the silence felt worse.
“I don’t know anything about this sport,” she had muttered to no one in particular. Which was lame. This whole thing was lame.
Trying to shake even the lightest bit of confidence into herself, Holly turned slightly towards him. There were a lot of voices so she doubted anyone would be able to hear them. “I’ve been looking more into fairy tales. I still think the Wicked Queen is our best bet, but I had forgotten that in Alice in Wonderland there’s the Queen of Hearts. And Alice Through the Looking Glass is about mirrors.”
When did organ removal become a safe topic of choice? God her life had gotten weird. Weirder.

The key to triumphing over any situation was to act like you knew what you were doing. That’s exactly what Dolly Ann did as she waltzed into the Murder Club. She was Dolly Ann Dixon, the most beautiful beauty pageant queen in Normal. These nerds were lucky she was gracing them with her presence. That was hard even for Dolly Ann to believe when the reality was she was here to keep herself from becoming the next dead pageant girl. Her confidence had wilted considerably by the time she got to the middle of the room. She was just about to pull out the writing board that was starting to get tiresome when she spotted a better solution. Getting her second wind she took over the projector and wrote what she had to say there.
“I want in. Not because Frenchie was, I’m not a copycat. Which is why I want in. If I die everyone will just think I’m pulling a Heather and copying off the dead girls!”
Being dead probably sucked but it certainly would if she was dead girl number three instead of being the one that started it all. Dolly Ann fixed a look on the probably demon child of a girl used to getting what her momma told her she wanted.

@devilsward — Everything at this party was so loud. Even if she could talk, it wasn’t as if anyone would be able to hear her; in a way, it was comforting. Here, everyone was in the same boat as her. Even so, she’d lost Theo about a half hour ago, and he was the only one around who’d sign with her. And so she’d been left to wander, freezies clutched in her hand until her gaze caught on pale hair and dark skin. Eyes lighting up in recognition, she followed a wobbly line toward her newest target, nearly tripping and falling over the wedges on her feet with every careless step. By the time she arrived, it was a miracle she hadn’t taken a tumble onto the sticky warehouse floor.
“Jamie — Johnnie? — Jamie,” she signed indecisively, squinting in the low light of the warehouse. She was a few drinks deep, which was not nearly enough to deal with this. A few drinks too deep, it seemed, to remember that Johnnie would have no idea what she was saying; at best, Jamie might recognize his own name somewhere amongst the mess. Taking a quick, sweeping glance of his posture and expression, Frenchie relaxed slightly when she made a calculation that it was Jamie and not his twin. This, of course, quickly devolved into confusion as she remembered where they were. A party hosted by Tommy Richter wasn’t exactly the first place she’d look for Jamie — it didn’t even rank on the top five. Brow furrowed, Frenchie fumbled with her board for a moment before pushing it toward his face. why are u here, it read, her neat handwriting a sloppier than usual. this isn’t really ur scene is it?

It had been at least half an hour since Norman had sung his little heart out, and Vi was still doing her best to avoid him at all costs. She’d given in to peer pressure for a moment and had one quick dance with him for the sake of appearances and to please him, but outside of that she’d made sure to be on the opposite side of the room from him at all times.
Scanning the room once she’d successfully countered the male to a decent vantage point, Vi took note of everyone nearby. Susan from the cheer team, Chris from her chemistry class sophomore year, that one senior whose name she could never remember who always looked at her for a second too long, Jamie…
Jamie who was, for the moment, sans Edwina. Making it the perfect time for her to draw him into a much needed discussion.
She had more or less been avoiding him since their shared night in the woods, but her need to tell him about what she had discovered at Alberione far outweighed the fact that she wanted infinite time and space to figure out why she had unconsciously allowed herself to snuggle up with the number one agent of chaos in her life.
Since Edwina was still nowhere to be found after probably a little bit too long of an observation period, Vi decided not to hesitate any longer. A plan came to mind as soon as the first chords of a song she knew was slow came blasting through the rented speakers, and she was determined to put it into motion.
“May I have this dance?” she asked, approaching Jamie with her formal offer with all the false confidence she could muster. It wasn’t going to be weird unless either of them made it weird, right? “And before you say no, you probably shouldn’t say no.”

TASK 2 // THE BEST OF TIMES, THE WORST OF TIMES
We’ve all made some questionable choices and the same goes for The Murder Club. Whether they would change what they did or not, there’s something your character has done that they regret or feel remorseful about. For this task we want you to channel that character’s specific memory and write about what exactly was the worst thing they’ve ever done. This should be in self-para form, but it can be written in different ways (the character reflecting on the memory, the memory as if it was happening right then and there, etc).

There were varying levels of worry when it came to Viola. First, a child wandering into dungeons to procure dangerous ingredients. Second, she was in the custody of a Devil. If the first two things didn't cause hysterics the third usually did.
Maybe he could be trusted with the truth, even if he ended up being judgmental, he wouldn't cause her harm.
Standing up she dusted herself off, looking further down the dark hallway she turned back towards their little camp "I gave you the map because I didn't need it anymore. I could feel this place drawing me in." Where would she even begin to explain? At the very least, Vayu must've caught on that she wasn't a simple half-orc.
"We should have more food and set up bedrolls. I've got some fresh meats we can cook up, and I think some alcohol, you may need it."
Viola couldn't describe the feeling, barely understanding what it was herself, but that sense of familiarty warmed her. Perhaps it was knowing her 'cousin' walked these halls before her, that his deeds made this place safer for her to be in.
"It's- something strange.." She began, uncertainty on her face "Not like how I feel drawn to this spot.. I dont-" Could Vayu be trusted with the truth? The door was sealed behind them, and he may not like what she said.
He probably had a few skeletons in the closet too, things better left unsaid, knowledge that would endanger him if shared with the wrong person. Running her hand along the crack Viola looked up at him "I dont think you'd like the truth very much, especially since we're locked in."

Edwina had been working on her car for God knows how long, but she was hoping to actually get it working by the end of summer with some determination, elbow grease, and money. Especially money. Her dad was already reluctant before to help fund her project due to not wanting his daughter loose on the road, but after everything that had happened she was probably not going to get an allowance until Hell froze over.
Having Jamie around when she tinkered with the car made her think less about just how much time and money was going to have to go into getting it finished though. If Jamie was there then she wouldn’t start bawling her eyes out at the reality of it all.
“Can you hand me the ratchet?” Eddie asked, face buried under the hood before stand back up straight. She blew a strand out hair out of her face, making a mental note to take a shower later to get the car schmutz out of her hair. “I’m thinking about getting a summer job at some place other than my dad’s dealership. Answering phone calls just makes me nervous. Sometimes the people on the phone are so mean. What about you? What are you doing this summer?”
