Let's talk more fashion: who are your top ten fictional characters with the best style 🥰
Right off the bat I have to go with Carrie Bradshaw. She annoyed me to no end for most of the series (apart from that one episode where she went to a house party and someone stole her shoes and she insisted that the guests pay her back for them) but I'd be lying if I said that her outfits don't continue to be iconic and they are always going to be a huge chapter of costume design and fashion. Patricia Field really is THAT woman.
2. Rachel Green my forever girl has to be number 2. I love so many things about her style and how it evolves throughout the seasons. In the early days it was jeans, T-Shirts and overalls but in such a chic and 90's way and then as she starts working in fashion and growing more into a more grownup version of herself she has an amazing office wardrobe that I still take inspo from. I also love all her slip dresses.
3. Meave Maisel. I started watching The Marvelous Mrs Maisel mainly because of the clothes and the fact that it was written by Amy Sherman Palladino and I stayed for as long as I did for the clothes as well. I believe the plot got a bit tired and the creators got distracted by the fact that the budget kept getting bigger so therefore they thought the show should be getting flashier instead of more human and funny but you'll never catch me complaining about the costumes because, well look at them!
4. Lisa Fremont. LISTEN. The costumes in this movie (which is Rear Window, directed by Alfred Hitchcock) are my Roman Empire. Especially the black and white dress combined with Grace Kelly's incredible beauty makes it one of the most iconic fashion moments in cinema history and we should give Edith Head (the costume designer) her flowers.
5. Fran Fine. It took me a while to realize what an absolute fashion icon this woman is because I didn't watch The Nanny as a kid or teenager (I still haven't watched all of it and I plan on making it right eventually) but omg the absolute serve after serve after serve AFTER SERVE. Plus, that body is bodying. And a special mention to this particular outfit which is all of my dreams coming true:
6. Issa from Insecure
This show's entire costume department deserved all the Emmys, Oscars, Tonys, just everything but Issa's style was always my absolute favorite because it was so versatile and reflected on her character journey as well. Plus I loved the fact that even when she had a casual look on, there were still so many smart details about it. Argh I miss Insecure so much I need Issa Rae back on my screen immediately.
7. Daisy Jones. This character has had a tight grip on my heart ever since I read the book and I knew I'd love her when I watched the tv adaptation but I didn't expect to love her to the point I spent all of last spring trying to find pieces to recreate her entire cool girl hippy wardrobe. And also I just have to mention this "gold dust woman" moment because it was arguably the most iconic outfit of them all
8. Holly Golightly
I don't think I need to say too much about her to be honest do I? Audrey Hepburn is literally a work of art, in this movie and in general. My maybe somewhat unpopular opinion is that the pink outfit is my favorite one :')
Honourable mentions:
Monica Geller/ Blair Waldorf/ Cher Horowitz/ Zoe from Grownish (I hate the show though)/ Devi from Never Have I Ever/ Hilary Banks from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
#flora THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ASKING ME THIS LET'S KEEP TALKING ABOUT FASHION FOREVER :')#also lmao it ended up being top 7 instead of top 10

i loved being tagged in tag games by @bethanyactually. it's like getting a good grade in long-term internet friendship. 💖
3 Ships: devi/ben from never have i ever (always), nancy/ace from cw's nancy drew (because of the Studies), and maeve/otis from sex education because i recently dipped my toe back into my feels for them, though i pulled back out before i got to season four because i had other self-imposed fandom rituals to uphold and then i visited bethany and kelsey (the Studies!!!!!).
First Ship Ever: probably lizzie/gordo from lizzie mcguire. it was back before i understood what shipping was, but oh, the effect gordo's pining had on me........
Last Song: roses by carly rae jepsen from emotion: side b (2016)!! been playing the ep on repeat all day.
funny how carly albums always sneak up on me. i'm never especially taken with them upon first listen, then approximately four to eight months after the fact, i'll listen again on a lark and it's all i can think about. except for dedicated side b (2020) which had my heart from the word go.
Last Movie: i watched no hard feelings (2023) over the weekend! i was inspired by @dollsome-does-tumblr's tags about it being an unexpected comfort movie, and yeah! outside of being an hour and a half buick ad, it's also a really sweet movie.
Currently Reading: in the mood for winter, i'm listening to let it snow by maureen johnson, john green, and lauren myracle. in terms of physical books, i'm in the middle of happy for you by claire stanford - which i think i will get a lot out of thematically, but the pacing is kind of dragging. so just last night i also started unrealistic expectations by andie j. christopher. i get so easily annoyed with romance novels, and i do have my nitpicks with this one, but the woman protagonist untangling complicated feelings about a 10+ year relationship coming to an end and never really having to be involved in the dating scene til it feels a bit late to be learning the social scripts is working for me.
Currently Watching: the latest buzz. for free on youtube! i rewatched jane mulcahy's degrassi video recently and to chase the nostalgia, i started rewatching the latest buzz instead of degrassi? i don't know. take up the twisty-turny logic with my neurotransmitters. i just work here.
Currently Consuming: water
Currently Craving: hibernation. barring that, a day-long nap.
i've already tagged miss dollsome. @daydreamingandprocrastination, @andrenson, and @brella you're also it!

u asked for it so i am HERE to tell u about the netflix tv show never have i ever......except im not going to explain Everything super concisely bc i already have a hard enough time trying 2 explain the complexities of devi vishwakumar when my brain is Actually working but rn i am running on three hours of sleep, an energy drink that partially sprayed out of my nose, and some sour punch straws but i am going to do my best to like. idk explain it. apologies in advance bc this got so long im SO sorry. ANYWAY. never have i ever. its about a first-generation indian american girl named devi and she is like. well. not cool. her n her friends are called the "UN" which they thought meant united nations bc they're all woc but no it means unfuckable nerds. and the person who coined the term unfuckable nerds? one ben gross, aka devi's longstanding academic rival. do u see where this is going yet? great. wonderful. devi spends most of season 1 chasing after this jock paxton (who. we do love. just not with devi.) and imploding all of her personal relationships in an attempt to Not Feel the grief of her father dying. at one point she even tells her mom that she wishes her mom died instead of her dad (ouch, but also, been there). atp devi's friends, the other members of the UN, are taking a "friend break" bc she was. well kind of a bitch. so she moves in w ben (rival) for like a week and then he drives her, unlicensed, to where her mom is spreading her dads ashes and then she goes back up to the car and they go "you stayed" "yeah i just wanrted to make sure you were okay" and then KISS. KISS!!!!!!! but then paxton (jock) also likes her so she dates BOTH of them and then implodes on her and they both break up with her. and then she accidentally spreads a rumor around the school about ben's new girlfriend having an eating disorder which ends up being true. and then paxton (jock) dates her again. and then they break up after like 3 months and ben's new girlfriend (aneesa) also breaks up w ben same day and then ben and devi are like. besties for a bit. devi dates a new guy des who honestly should probably be in a relationship with his own mom instead and then he dumps her bc of his mom and THEN. after all of this. ben jokingly gives devi a "one free boink" card. (was it really a joke ben was it i dont think so!!!!) and. at paxton's graduation he sort of mentions devi but not by name and the narrator (which, i should mention the narrator for devi's inner monologue is american tennis player john mcenroe) says she doesnt get stomach knots!!! but then she and ben share an like an intimate moment in the hall and mcenroe says "there's the stomach knots" like!!!!! and THEN later that night!!!!! she goes to ben's house!!!!!!1 and redeems the one free boink card CAN YOU BELIEVE IT!!!!!!!! and thats where season 3 ends....
season 4 comes out in THREE DAYS and weve gotten SOOOO many spoilers for the first two episodes which (if anyone who watches never have i ever is still reading this and doesnt want spoilers please sotp reading) we find out that ben and devi DID boink and that they both thought iut was like?? bad foir the other person??? and ben just didnt know what to say so he asked if she needed him to call an uber like ben WHAT. as rae @ice-sculptures put it "can you believe that ben gross not knowing what to say after fucking led to the whole spiral of miscommunication lmfao" like they just DONT TALK devi tries to ask if he wanted to get coffee and he says NO because a basketball player at the gym told ben that devi wasnt serious about him because she put a period in the text or somethjing?? so instead he goes and dates this girl from art class margot and devi sees ben with her on the first day of school and gets. well upset. and then someone spray paints "STUPID BITCH" on devi's car and of course she thinks its margot!!!! (but shhhh it wasnt....it was actually this kid ethan....more on him later) and then like other stff happens im not super clear about that but basically at some point ben tells devi that margot doesnt want ben talking to devi anymore :( i dont rlly know much else past that i think thats where s4e2 ends??? but we do know that devi ends up DATING that ethan kid at some point but. sooo many things point to ben/devi endgame esp bc her other main love interest (paxton, the jock) is now STAFF at their high school so like?? i dont think they're going that route but im just. dsjfkhjsad SO EXCITED except i cannot watch s4 the day it comes out bc i will be seeing waterparks which. im so excitred for but also WHYYY do they have to be on the same day
i feel like i didnt explain this very well and left out a lot of like pivotal ben/devi moments but im sitting here jus.t typing and not rereading any of this im. So sorry that this is as long as it is jkhsddfsd thank u for reading this and. if u didnt read it i dont blame u szdkjhdfsakd
WOW OKAY HOLY FUCK A LOT GOING ON THERE HUH????? HELLO.
Okay okay key notes:
I already like Devi and I haven't even watched the show.
WHAT THE FUCK IS BEN DOING HELLOOOO. WHAT IS WRONG WITH HIM DSFJJFD
by boink im assuming it means fuck right. cause like i've never euphemism in my life
THEY END S3 LIKE THAT ?? FWERLJW
oh LORD devi's complex relationship with her mom okay i hear it
bro the miscommunication sounds SOOO bad... like they cannot communicate properly even once huh 😭
devi ends up dating WHO now???? first the guy who gave them the name un and then the stupid bitch dude?? HELP....
IT COMES OUT IN 3 DAYS??? oh shit good luck??!!
OMG youre gonna go to a Waterparks show????? have fun holy shit
anyways are you kidding ofc i read the whole thing i NEED media rants rn

28.03.23 - 07:21 am
With, that thing called Love
from Rae
ci troviamo alle 23:00,
ci separiamo alle 06:33;
non è la prima, nè l'ultima volta.
dopo tanti:
"dai cazzo, è tardi devi andare a casa".
Ci conosciamo da 1 anno e mezzo.
In 11 mesi di relazione, ci siamo sempre trovati ad un certo punto della giornata... per passare del tempo assieme:
notti, giorni interi e pure consecutivi,
altre volte la notte tardi a fare After...
al risveglio di quel pomeriggio stesso ci si prepara, per vedersi di nuovo.
Non ci stanchiamo mai della nostra ossessione.
to Razli <3

you take my hand and drag me headfirst
happy happy birthday rae @ice-sculptures !!!
In Ben’s defense, it’s not his fault that their date literally got rained on.
Not that it was much of a date, he thinks, as he and Devi shove their waterlogged textbooks and flooded picnic basket into the trunk of his car. Yeah, they’ve both claimed booksmarts as part of their brand, but who wants to go over Advanced Calculus while sipping sparkling grape juice and nibbling on fresh fruit and finger sandwiches?
“Hey,” Devi says, jumping up to sit on the trunk after it’s been slammed shut. “Get over here.” She pats the space next to her in invitation.
“It’s still raining,” Ben remarks, looking up to the sky. A raindrop falls in his eye, making him wince. “We should get out of here before you catch a cold. God knows you’re insufferable when you’re sick.” There’s no bite behind it (there never is, anymore), and he sits next to her anyway.
“I had a good time,” she says as she takes his hand in hers. “Plus a little rain never hurt anybody.” She bumps her shoulder against his, jostling him.
He could mention that hundreds of thousands of people get into car accidents every year due to rainfall. He could bring up the rare cases of aquagenic urticaria. Hell, he could even tease her about the time she slipped on a wet patch of floor in front of the entire class when they were in eighth grade, just to be annoying. He doesn’t, though.
“We haven’t really been on a date since we got back together,” he mumbles. He doesn’t mention that they never really went on dates the first time they were together, either, unless you count watching Jeopardy and making out in his bedroom as a date. “And I know that a study date isn’t peak romance, but you said you still needed to study for the AP Physics exam, so I thought, two birds, one stone.”
“I thought it was sweet,” she assures him. “Plus,” she draws out, sliding off the trunk and tugging at his arm. “Date’s not over yet.”
“What are you doing?” Ben asks, trying - and failing - not to smile as she continues pulling him towards her.
She drops his hand and walks over to the passenger side of his car, opening the back door and ruffling around for a few moments until she emerges, triumphant, holding a small, oblong object.
“Come on!” she shouts, slamming the door shut and reaching for his hand again, dragging him back into the grass where just ten minutes ago they were going over flashcards and munching on the fancy cheese his mom buys but never eats. Devi turns to him and hands him the object - the bluetooth speaker that’s been underneath his passenger seat for months, he realizes - and pulls out her phone. She’s got a cheeky smile across her face, and her hair is stuck to her forehead and neck with the rain that’s still drizzling over them.
It’s not a new feeling, it’s not a revelation, it’s not even surprising, but he thinks, as he sees her smile grow wider, as he hears a Taylor Swift song blast through the speaker, as she starts twirling around in the wet grass and singing along to the lyrics - he thinks, I love her.
He hasn’t said it out loud yet, but he’s sure she knows. He tells her with every kiss, he tells her with every lovesick look on his face, with Netflix romcom marathons and poorly designed blanket forts and a pint of her favorite ice cream always in his freezer. He tells her with a cup of coffee in the passenger cup holder, ready for her each morning. He tells her with study dates and fancy cheese and he tells her, now, with a hand wrapped around her waist, with a spin under his arm, with a kiss pressed to her temple, as they gracelessly stomp through the park, water and mud soaking through their clothes.
The song fades out into something slower, and Devi wraps her arms around his neck, swaying back and forth. There’s a look in her eyes, something warm and sweet that he wants to bottle up and keep just for himself.
He thinks, She loves me.
She says, “I love you.”
