🚨Nepal PM refuses to resign from post🚨 🤔 What’s the latest buzz?
▪ Incumbent Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal stands firm, refusing to step down from his position in Nepal!
▪ In a bold move, he has declared his intention to face yet another no-confidence vote in Parliament, marking his fifth one to date!
🧐 Why is there a call for his resignation?
▪ Prime Minister Dahal has lost his majority support.
▪ Back in March 2024, Dahal’s CPN Maoist Centre party joined forces with the CPN-UML party, led by K.P. Oli, breaking away from the Nepali Congress alliance to secure the Prime Ministership.
▪ However, just yesterday, the CPN-UML withdrew its support, leaving PM Dahal’s party in the minority within the Nepali Parliament!
😲What else?: ▪ KP Oli and Sher Bahadur Deuba, leader of the Nepali Congress, have agreed on the division of ministries and will be sharing the PM seat! ▪ Oli shall serve as the PM for the next 1.5 years while Deuba shall serve for the remainder until elections 3 years later. ▪ Other parties are also supporting the Nepali Congress-CPN-UML alliance and are now asking for Dahal and the CPN Maoist Centre party to pave the way for the new government!!! 🥸Analysis: ▪ PM Dahal has somehow survived 4 no-confidence votes via shaky alliances over the last 2 years. ▪ However, surviving this fifth one would be difficult for him. ▪ This is the 13th government in the last 16 years in Nepal as the political landscape in Nepal still appears turbulent. ❓When will Nepal find political peace?? Nepal will not take sides in the ongoing Indo-Sino standoff, says Deputy PM Nepal
In a statement, the Deputy Prime Minister of Nepal, Mr. Krishna Bahadur Mahara has said that Nepal will not take any sides in the current standoff between India and China.
The Deputy Prime Minister who is also the Foreign Minister of Nepal said that both the countries must employ “peaceful diplomatic means” to solve the issue.
"Nepal will not get dragged into this or that side in the border dispute," he told the reporters at a conference yesterday.
"Some media reports are attempting to drag us in favor of one or the other side, but I want to make it clear that we have not taken any side in this matter," Mahara added.
Mahara also said that the Prime Minister of Nepal, Mr. Sher Bahadur Deuba will visit India during August 23 – 27 and the preparations for the same are in full swing.
He also added that the detailed itinerary of the trip is not fixed yet.
Mahara also announced that the Chinese Vice Premier Wang Yang will visit Nepal on 14th of August. He, however, added that the visit of the Chinese leader is completely development oriented and must not be linked with the visit of Nepalese Prime Minister to India.
It’s been more than 1.5 months since the lock between Chinese and Indians started in the Doklam area of Sikkim. It started on June 16th when the Chinese troops started the construction of a road at the Bhutan trijunction.
Bhutan has stepped forward and has protested to China as it claims that the area belongs to it and China has violated the agreement as per which the status quo must be maintained in the area until the boundary issue is resolved.
However, India’s protest has another point to add as the country claims that the action of making the road is unilateral and there is a fear that China is trying to cut off India’s access to its northeastern states.

Kathmandu: In a landmark verdict, Nepal's Supreme Court on Monday directed President Bidya Devi Bhandari to appoint Nepali Congress chief Sher Bahadur Deuba as prime minister by Tuesday and reinstated the dissolved House of Representatives for the second time in five months.
A five-member Constitutional Bench of the Supreme Court led by Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana issued the verdict stating that President Bhandari's decision to dissolve the lower house upon a recommendation of Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli was an unconstitutional act, delivering a major blow to the veteran Communist leader who was preparing for snap polls.
The bench issued a mandamus to appoint Deuba as the Prime Minister by Tuesday. Deuba, 74, has served as the prime minister on four occasions.
The court also ordered summoning a new session of House of Representatives at 5 PM on 18 July.
Chief Justice Rana also said that the bench has concluded that party whip does not apply when lawmakers take part in the voting to elect a new Prime Minister as per Article 76(5) of the Constitution.
The bench comprising four other senior-most justices — Dipak Kumar Karki, Mira Khadka, Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada and Dr Ananda Mohan Bhattarai — had concluded hearings in the case last week.
President Bhandari had dissolved the 275-member lower house for the second time in five months on May 22 at the recommendation of Prime Minister Oli and announced snap elections on November 12 and November 19.
Last week, the Election Commission had announced the schedule for mid-term elections despite the uncertainty over polls.
As many as 30 petitions, including one by the opposition alliance led by the Nepali Congress, were filed against the dissolution of the House by the President.
A petition was filed by the Opposition parties' alliance with the signature of 146 lawmakers demanding the reinstatement of the lower house of Parliament and appointment of Deuba as the prime minister.
Nepal plunged into a political crisis on December 20 last year after President Bhandari dissolved the House and announced fresh elections on 30 April and 10 May at the recommendation of Prime Minister Oli, amidst a tussle for power within the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP).
On 23 February, the apex court reinstated the dissolved House of Representatives, in a setback to embattled Prime Minister Oli who was preparing for snap polls.
Oli, who is currently heading a minority government after losing a trust vote in the House, has repeatedly defended his move to dissolve the House of Representatives, saying some leaders of his party were attempting to form a "parallel government".
