This blog is mainly for finding roleplays. I roleplay exclusively on Discord (I love making private servers) and am 21+, so minors please DNI. Style-wise I can adapt to my partner, though my favourite way to write is lit for those juicy, introspective moments. NSFW friendly, and I like all sorts of pairs from fxf, mxf, mxm, to any nb pairs. is he the stereotypical donut enjoying detective, and if so, what is his favourite?

he loves a jelly donut. he will not touch a powdered donut because that will never end well for him. the powdered sugar will get everywhere and it's just not worth the trouble. but a raspberry jelly donut.... ohhhh man. oh man. that's a real "don't mind if i do" situation

what's like ... his "process" with a case ... like is he taking notes constantly, arranging things on a board (string optional), does he lay things out on the floor?

he makes a lot of mental notes in the moment -- he doesn't feel the need to write something down usually and if he does it usually goes right on his arm with a pen or marker. he's got a great memory though so his process does tend to be a bit more in his head. he doesn't like laying things on the floor (way too much of a hazard. yes he used to and learned very quickly not to do that). he does sometimes opt for the putting stuff up on a board or wall option, i think especially when he starts working with andie. at that point he has to learn to communicate what goes on in his mind and what he's thinking a lot more since they work together and that's a challenge but the board method works well (string definitely included). a big part of his process is piano just for the clarity of mind and focus it gives him so he will go sit at a piano for hours

is he a "by the book" kind of detective or is he a little more flexible/creative? not necessarily unethical or illegal (i wouldn't expect him to) but like ... is he a fan of structure and rules when it comes to investigating or is he more unconventional?

a little bit of both? i think that with being a detective there's not really a book, and what he considers to be rules and more structured comes from cliches and general attitudes. he's met a lot of detectives and everyone comes with their little thing and their style, so how he operates is very much having taken all that into consideration. he does have rules for himself, there's etiquette that he believes in and tries to instill in andie. i don't think he'd be described at quirky by any means, but there's a lot of love in him and that shines more than any adrenaline for a job or excitement from it. it's not the thrill of the chase for him that guides him. i don't know if i answered this question at all but yeah that's what i've got to offer

and finally, a silly question: has he ever or would he ever be willing to wear a disguise? if yes, please give examples.

he has never worn a disguise, though he's been "a little light on the details" about his identity when talking to people on occasion. he won't lead with the fact he's a detective if he doesn't have to. he'll stand with a crowd and strike up a conversation with someone very casually, and that's his go to method. that being said, working with andie who comes from a world of fashion and color, there's bound to be some disguise hijinks in the cards for him. she's a terrible liar though so that's really up in the air. he's definitely been out of his comfort zone with an outfit if that counts for anything

he sits at his desk, chair pulled out and turned towards the couch that andie has all but taken over. he doesn't mind. the uncomfortable chair seat keeps him awake. he doesn't ever mind the amount of questions he throws at her, but he finds it hard to share too much about the people of his past, so he's thankful that the conversation is more surface level -- names, slight quirks, backstories behind them-- until it isn't.

"do you think i'm gonna get a detective nickname?"

he shifts, chair and floor both creaking under him as he leans forward, elbows on his knees. "uhhh," his head shakes. he wants to have this conversation even less. "it's not really ... it's stupid shit. you don't want a nickname." she already has a nickname.

he's a somewhat infamous/disgraced detective. he was really big and well known in his community for a while until he became a suspect in a murder which ruined his business and left him almost client-less

although he always introduces himself as bradley bradshaw, a lot of people who know him or of him call him rooster, including the media. it's a long running nickname that he's neutral/a little hesitant towards just because it either makes people think of the murder case that ruined him or glorify him.

the piano is where he finds most of his revelations and thoughts. he was pretty known at a jazz bar for causing up a lively and fun stir and it also lended itself to more jokes tied to the rooster nickname. "when the rooster crows" is a phrase people used a lot, mostly to tease and sometimes with annoyance from law enforcement

after his investigative services leave him jobless, he plays more frequently at the jazz bar except he's not really starting up sing alongs or anything of that sort. he's just an in house pianist. this also gets him free meals at the bar

he has a house, a nice one, with a bed, but he mostly sleeps at his office on the couch

when he was more active he tended to wear white/offwhite/tan/black pants with some floral shirt or polo. when he starts working more after meeting andie he's mostly in actual suits and nice plain solid button downs. he even starts wearing a tie. (he's trying really hard to be serious and respectable and no longer has the reputation he had before). the longer they work together, the more colorful his wardrobe becomes with him getting back into patterned shirts or colorful ties

how did detective bradley get into detective work?

during his undergraduate years he did a lot investigative work for research, inquiries, reports. he thought he'd pursue law so he built himself a little network of people and frequently was nose in books and computers doing research on whatever was needed. he worked really hard, almost too hard, and he would know all there was to know about any case or thing he was assisting with. when he started law school, he loved doing that and he realized that was much more for him than actual law practice. he was kinda miserable in those classes and he dropped out.

with really no other life plans, and like 2 skills he decided to keep doing investigative work for people -- he had a lot of names who he knew in the law world who would hire him on as a private investigator for stuff until he got to a place where he was really out there as a name. then his business extended much more into civilian aspects through word of mouth and your classic newspaper ad

who's his favorite fictional detective?

he has a very nostalgic soft spot for the hardy boys books so i think they'd be his favorite fictional detectives even if they're amateurs. he read a lot of those books as a kid and they definitely were a little bit of his early interest in justice/crime/etc. he's also a fan of miss marple and if he could have dinner with a fictional detective, he'd pick her

what's his go to coffee order?

half a cup of coffee, half a cup of milk. he asks for a lot of room in those cups. if he can get a mocha though he's getting a mocha

one of the running gags of the detective bradley universe (aka any thread i write) is that all the doorways are just a little bit short for him to comfortably walk through. he's 6'1 so he's tall but not crazy, but the doorways will always be written so that he has to duck when walking through them. it's just funnier to me that way

he can play pool but he's not great at it. it's not how he spends his time at any bar. people do expect him to be better but he just isn't. he will pass on an offer of a game

he considered law school early on and actually attended for a year before he dropped out. he realized it wasn't for him, but he enjoys arguing with people so he'll always have that
